About this apartment rental
Laural & Don Chambers would like to share their little corner or paradise in Wyoming with you for your lodging needs. As your host and hostess of "Lander Lodging" we want to make your stay with us as wonderful as possible. What we love here is: the pure taste of freedom, the vibrant smell of fresh air, deep blue sky and sunshine ~300 days of the year. We also love the wide open outdoors with it's variety of terrain offering world class: fishing, hiking, kayaking, climbing, 4-wheeling, mountain biking, snowmobiling, snow shoeing, cross-country skiing, and some of the best hunting in the U.S. We love being one with nature and enjoying proud bugling elk, majestic mule deer, roaming antelope, mischievous squirrels, and cooing pheasant. Life doesn't get any better than this!
We are located at the mouth of Sinks Canyon is named for it's unique geographical formation, where the river vanishes into a large cavern (called "The Sinks") but reappears downstream in a trout filled pool, "The Rise" about a half mile down the canyon. These trout live a life of leisure measuring upward of 26+ inches, while visitors feed them.
Within the wall of Sinks canyon are Wyoming's best: the river, fish and wildlife, the mountains, wildflowers and sage, aspen and pine, a rugged quite country under blue skies.
We have a very fun selection of restaurants in Lander, and we will be happy to make suggestions. .
The Shoshone National Forest, The Wind River Wilderness and the Red Desert provide many beautiful hiking and four wheeling opportunities.
One popular hike to the Popo Agie Falls brings you to a beautiful falls and pools, and if you persist over the granite boulders you will come to a pool with a natural rock slide that people like to use during high water.
The Loop Road is a scenic drive, with 4 wonderful lakes you can stop and enjoy. It becomes a wonderful summer playground. You can find the hidden beach or explore the remote adventures on the far side of the lake in Kayaks, the most easy to maneuver of all UN-powered watercraft. We rent our Kayaks only to our guests.
After Hunting Season, the Loop Road becomes a winter playground for Snowmobiles, Snow Bikes, cross country skiing and snowshoeing. (Wild Iris and Gannet Peak Sports rent cross country skis and snowshoes.) Here on the property we have a fabulous sledding hill and tubes which are only available to our guests.
The Museum of the West - (1.6 miles ) has done a wonderful job of restoring a lot of old buildings and artifacts.

We stayed here before, 2 years ago. The apartment is upstairs from the main house with a separate outside entrance. It's just outside Lander on Sinks Canyon Road, but only minutes from town, so very close to grocery stores, restaurants, & shops.
The large picture window of the apartment looks out on a lovely natural scene of aspen and other trees, and a meadow beyond that. We saw deer multiple times in the meadow, and really enjoyed feeling we were staying outside of town, surrounded by nature.
The apartment was a good fit for our family. The large front room functioned as our living room/dining room and we could eat, play games, and watch movies in this room. There are three bedrooms, so plenty of room for everyone to spread out. There is only one bathroom, but it is very spacious.
We really enjoyed our time in the Lander Mountain Suite, and hope to visit again the next time we are in Lander.
I really appreciated being able to stay in a place that had the feeling of home, rather than a hotel. And because it was priced comparably to a hotel, it was a really great option for our family.

The location and property were nice. The toilet in our bathroom was not clean, we had to clean it to use it. The kitchen is sparsely furnished. The VRBO was 85 degrees and the a/c system did not work (control was in LOCKED mode), it took two days to cool it off enough with open windows but unfortunately smokey air from the fires. We believed from the photos we would have a grill and a deck and we had neither. The garden and ponies were wonderful. But the driveway was tricky due to road work. There was construction and junk around the property from the property construction. The closets in one bedroom were stuffed with cleaning supplies and pillows and there for not user friendly for guest- very disorganized and messy that way. This was the first VRBO I have stayed at that did not provide a "How to" book for things like the microwave/convection oven, A/C unit, what to do in town, great places to visit and eat, etc.
When the renovations are finished and the property is ready to be rented out I think it will be an improved experience. But if there unit I rented is listed they should talk about the metal stairs and deck that are very hard to negotiate with luggage and slippery when wet from sprinkler system and/or rain.

We enjoyed our stay for Thanksgiving. It took some research how to use the convection microwave to make our baked corn and stuffing but worked well. We had to get a Roku to use the television because the fire stick wasn't working. My only suggestion would be including the fact that you have to use spiral steps to access the house. It was hard for my father to navigate especially when they were icy when we arrived. Overall we enjoyed our stay and the location was perfect since it was just across the street from our daughter.

This property does not provide recreation and should not be expected to provide such. It is a perfect place to land, rest and relax after exploring, fishing, hiking, cycling, in valley and mountains. It provides a home-like atmosphere with well equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, and roomy bathroom with 2 sinks. It is on the second floor and accessible only by metal circular stairs that can be tricky. Our family are repeat visitors. It is good value, very comfortable, situated well off road so very quiet and safe.

We had a wonderful stay here, however some things could be improved. First, this is an UPPER, which is fine but it's not explained. The photo for the entrance is for the main house. Entrance is up a grass hill, around back, and up a metal, spiral staircase. It is not marked nor lit. We had my 75 year old MIL with us, I wouldn't have rented this one (for us yes, but with her no) Second, there are automatic sprinklers in the morning. There isn't a schedule posted, and it covers the only way in/out of the room. We almost got hit with them a couple of times. It fit 5 adults comfortably, however, we did run out of hot water after 2 showers, and there's only dinner plates for 4. It is a nice place, it's in a great location. Some signs or notifications would be huge improvements.

You know those situations where you have to keep contacting someone because your plans keep changing or you have questions? This was over a stretch of months and Sarah always answered right away and thoroughly and with care. Caring of my feelings. We had to head out there for a memorial service and I just wasn't sure what we would need. Sarah was amazing and her property was amazing as well. Sure, there's always those bumps that happen with staying over at someone else's place but all in all I would not hesitate to go there again for my family and I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone I know. I would not hesitate to recommend it to you!

The place was very relaxing after traveling the sites around Lander and Thermopolis (hot springs). The bed was comfortable and the shower was great. I love to cook and definitely need more kitchen cookware, dishes and missing the toaster. There are only 2 burners (stove top) and the microwave/convection oven was not easy to operate. Overall, if you don't use the kitchen, it was a nice place to stay.

We greatly enjoyed our stay in this lovely place. The hosts were quick to respond to my questions and made sure we had everything we needed for our stay. My children enjoyed a few jumps on their trampoline on our way out in the mornings, and the miniature horses are just adorable.

Cute place and could be wonderful. However, the owners were new to the property. They advertised it as having alpacas and ponies but had just one pony and no alpacas. The toilet didn't refill unless you manually fiddled with the flow valve. Worst of all they advertised AC

The apartment itself was beautiful and maintained well. Beds were comfy, kitchen was adequate for morning coffee and late night snacks. We had an issue with suddenly no water one morning, but it was fixed within 15 minutes.
My main issue was with the entrance. I read it was up a spiral staircase - fine, it was around the back of the house - fine. What was concerning is that there was no walkway, or welcome sign, or lights or anything to signify that you are in the correct place. I am SO GLAD we checked in during the day and not at night -- we would have ended up sleeping in our car. I think it could be easily remedied with some small solar lights or even just a "Spiral Staircase --> sign", so guests don't feel like they are wandering around in possibly the wrong yard.

We stayed here for 3 nights with our 5 and 10 year olds. The apartment was neat with enough space for all of us. Our kids fell in love with the baby kittens that were right outside our door and the ponies on the property. They couldn’t wait to get up in the mornings to go find the ponies. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. They gave our kids brushes to brush the ponies and let our younger one ride one of the ponies. They also let us know about events in the area and other things to do. There is also a swing set that the kids played on, and a large driveway where kids rode scooters, bikes, and shot hoops.
The property is on well water which we found a little hard to get used to, but not terrible.
Be prepared to get a little wet and muddy when hanging out with the ponies.
Sinks Canyon is very beautiful with good hikes and a place to feed the trout, which our kids also loved.
Also note that the entrance to this property is up a narrow spiral staircase. This could be difficult to navigate if you are carrying heavy bags or have physical challenges. All in all, we loved our stay here and would definitely want to stay here again.

The apartment was connected to owners home. We got to feed the horses, cows and llamas. Hosts were very friendly. I would stay here again.

The property is beautiful and the owner was wonderful to us! The Shetland ponies and the llamas were so much fun to see. We found staying at this home relaxing, exciting and healing. I would definitely recommend this home. I'll never forget the incredible time our family spent at this lovely ranch.
