About this house rental
Casa Esperanza is a beautifully appointed Spanish style villa set within lush tropical jungle, conveniently located across from Akumal Bay and just steps away from dive shops, grocery stores, boutiques, restaurants and the Buddha Garden Spa. The privacy of Esperanza combined with its amazing location is truly beyond compare.
While many of Akumal's latest accommodations have moved towards the contemporary feel and furnishings of American hotels, Casa Esperanza's Spanish design caters to our guests with the unique feeling of living in Mexico. There is no condominium or hotel atmosphere at Esperanza. You will genuinely feel at home!
No expense was spared in the design and amenities of this luxurious hacienda. Talavera tile and red terracotta floors compliment the tropical hardwood doors and windows, leading to a large covered terrace with outdoor dining table and Smart TV with complimentary Netflix. The villa is completely air-conditioned and includes two master bedrooms with pillow top king-sized beds, quality bedding, and en-suite baths. The studio features a trundle bed with top of the line twin mattresses for two additional guests. Both the master bedrooms and the studio are separate from the main residence, allowing for total peace and quiet. The kitchen is fully equipped with plenty of space for entertaining family and friends. There is also an outdoor gas grill for barbeque.
Begin your morning sipping coffee on the spacious patio, enjoying the beauty of the private pool surrounded by gardens overlooking the jungle. End your day with a cocktail, have a romantic swim, or watch the sunset with family. Don't feel like cooking on vacation? Your breakfast, lunch, and dinner options are only steps away at La Cueva del Pescador, Lol-Ha Restaurant, Taverna Akumal, or Turtle Bay Café. Are you coming to Akumal to experience snorkeling with the famous sea turtles? Just walk across the street from Esperanza and enjoy!
Additional amenities provided by Casa Esperanza include: parking, onsite staff three days per week, nightly security guard from 7 pm to 7 am, all linens and pool/beach towels, free purified water, powder bath in main residence with full size washer and dryer, TVs and DVD Players equipped with Sky Cable premier package located in master bedrooms, Netflix on outdoor Smart TV, safes in each master bedroom, and free Wifi access. Upon request, grocery shopping or private chef is available for an additional fee.

Our family of four had a great stay at Casa Esperanza. It was very well-equipped, the owner and property manager were very responsive. Loved the backyard and pool area especially. We had a bit of difficulty with the many different keys and locks required to enter and leave securely but figured it out in the end. This area felt very safe for our family, and the cousin of the property manager looked over things each evening. Recommended and plan to return in the future!

This house is my favorite VRBO or Air B & B I’ve ever stayed in and I’ve stayed at many all over the world. The pool is beautiful. The house is clean and the accommodations are comfortable. It’s close to the beach, the little town and lots of restaurants. It’s such a gem I’d love to keep it a secret!

The property was great! Very accommodating for two couples with another bedroom available for a single person or older kids that we did not use. We enjoyed being close to Akumal Beach and the Playa and several restaurants; all within walking distance. We loved hanging out by our own pool!

Wonderful set up with bedrooms and being able to feel like you are outdoors, even when you have to be inside. Kids loved the pool! Could use a few new pots and pans. Carlos was very responsive when we had any needs. Hired a chef one evening which was amazing!

My GF and I really enjoyed our stay at this home. Great location, great owner, great price, and a great jumping off point for Akumal and Half Moon Bay!!! What a wonderful, relaxing, vacation!

We had a great time the house is lovely and we especially enjoyed the pool after returning from day trips . Carlos the property manager was very helpful and communication was great. Super clean with housekeeping and pool service several days during our stay.

The house was perfect for our family of four and my parents. We absolutely loved the back patio and pool area. The location was ideal to pop over to the beach, walk to restaurants, or jump in the car and cruise out of Akumal to various cenotes and other beaches. House is well equipped and the owner and staff were all helpful with everything along the way. Wonderful place!

My family and I stayed 10 nights at Casa Esperanza in Feb 2023. I fully agree with the previous comments especially those of Jeremy from Colorado. Everything is made to make your holidays a relaxing moment, from the before departure explanations to communication during the stay with Stephanie, the owner, the cleanliness of the space and the outstanding location in the small village of Akumal. The only point which other travellers might be aware is that the bedroom distribution is not easy with very young kids. None of the bedrooms communicate: the studio is located in front of the house and has no bathroom and the 2 others are located around the pool but when you need to go from one of these bedrooms to the other you must go outside (imagine when it's raining outside). For us, the Casa Esperanza is nevertheless the best value for money in the area and we fully recommend it.

This place was awesome; perfect location and so beautiful. We enjoyed so much! My kiddos enjoyed the pool so much and everything was a walking distance. Definitively we will staying here next time.

This lovely Spanish home is in the adorable and busy little beach resort town of Akumal. It's steps from grocery, dining, the beach, and all the water activities (snorkle, swim, boat, fish, scuba, etc) you could want. We rented a golf cart for the week which was a lot of fun. However, you don't have to have one to enjoy all the area has to offer.
Within 20 minutes of the house are an array of pristine cenotes which are a must do during your visit. We also went south to Sian Ka'an (about an hour) for a day tour of the ancient Mayan canals. The Akumal Dive Shop (across the street from the house) was great setting up tours for us.
The communication with the owner was great leading up to the stay. The only small glitch was not having the door code when we arrived. That was remedied with an email to the owner and we were off any running for the week in "our" home.
Washer/dryer, 3 baths, full kitchen, huge covered patio, BBQ, bottled water, even a few odds and ends of Sun screens presumably left from prior guests (and we contributed to the supply) and a boat load of various alcohol (which we didn't use but loved the ability to had we wanted). There is an option to have private chiefs come in and cook for you which we didn't use but sounded pretty cool.
The pool was a key to our trip and was wonderful albeit a little too warm on the sunniest days.
The only negative - which wasn't a big deal, just not ideal for our family - was the front bedroom which only was accessible from outside the main house. This bedroom does not have a bathroom so whoever is in there needs to exit the bedroom and then go across the front patio and through the front door to get into the main house where a bathroom is. That's not ideal for small kids in the middle of the night.
The house had on-site security at night which we really appreciated. We never felt unsafe and the Mexican guarda (police) were frequently seen driving around which was appreciated.
We had a great week, owners were easy to work with and friendly, and our family had a lot of fun.

We all loved this charming casita that was walking distance to several shops and restaurants, as well as the beach where we hired a guide to take us snorkeling with sea turtles. The arrangement of the house was great for our group of two couples and a teenager who could have his own space. We spent a lot of time hanging out on the shady covered deck area by the pool, reading, chatting, having appetizers and drinks, eating breakfast, etc. In an ideal world beach access would not be restricted (you have to pay), because you think twice about going for a quick swim. So we used the pool for that.

Excellent, comfortable house in convenient location
Our family of 5 had a wonderful stay at Casa Esperanza in Akumal. The house is a little haven with a wonderful garden, great pool, and plenty of comfortable space to relax. It's convenient to restaurants and beaches in Akumal, and it served as a great launching pad for exploring the entire Tulum area. The hosts were very helpful and prompt in all communications, and we had no problems at all while there. The property was clean, well maintained, and well stocked. Wonderful spot to stay.

Has character and a nice outdoor pool, however, there are no modern amenities, super loud and an absolute pain to go to beach. You have to rent on the water to have access to beach without hassle. Stay in a hotel that cleans the beach from seaweed. Akumal Bay is pretty but not relaxing at all due to the local guide solicitation/ harassment.

Wonderful Stay would 100% recommend
We enjoyed everything about our stay at Casa Esperanza! The hosts were so kind and helpful and had many recommendations for us. The security guard, house keeper, and landscaper kept the house looking fabulous and we felt very safe. The house is within walking distance to many restaurants. We rented a golf cart one day and drove around the town and that was a lot of fun! Would definitely stay again and recommend to people traveling to this area.

Thank you so much for letting us stay at your gorgeous property! House was just as described, and pool was even better than described! Very comfortable beds (memory foam toppers), fans and air conditioners in all rooms, well stocked kitchen. Home is walking distance to great local restaurants and beach is across the street via a public access point or through a local hotel. Definitely had a mosquito problem towards the end of our say that likely would’ve been remedied if we took the property manager up on his offer of maid service. Would recommend maid service to spray for and prevent bugs! Thank you Stephanie, Carlos and all for a great visit.

Great stay in Akumal
This is an awesome house in Akumal. All the rooms communicate with the pool area separately, except for one which is before the entrance. Pool is great. AC in all rooms. Guard was there every night - super nice. Beach opens at 8 AM. Super nice.

Just as described - we traveled with our 3 children ages 11, 8, 6. This was our first trip to the Riviera Maya and are glad we didn’t fall into the tourist trap of staying in Playa Del Carmen or Tulum... Akumal is a lovely beach town, slower pace, friendly and beautiful. The layout of the home would be perfect for families with children more independent/older as the separate casita is at the front door - perfect for a older teen or adult. Our three kids all slept together on the over sized king bed pool side room. We ate out for every meal and never had a bad meal. Highly recommend, we can’t wait to return! 7 days wasn’t nearly enough to cover all the possible activities within 30 minutes of this property, so we will be back!

Akumal Vacation 2021
We loved this property. Stephanie, the host, was more than accommodating, provided detailed emails with travel ideas, helped us plan our excursions, provided resources and was wonderful to work with. We had everything we needed to know about currency, renting a car and how to get around Mexico, well in advance of the trip. We also received restaurant recommendations and what her favorite "non touristy" activities were. The property was stunning and everything was set up exactly like the photos. Everything was clean and beautiful and we had such a relaxing time. We were very grateful to stay here and enjoyed our little slice of heaven! I would stay here again and again, no questions asked! We will be back! Thank you again, Stephanie, for all your help!

Just what we had hoped for and more!
This is a well kept, lovely property. The outdoor space is really special. It has a great pool and patio with beautiful well kept garden. We spent so much time here. The kitchen and living area is great since the outdoor space is a part of the living space. It is a short walk to the beach and the sweet town of Akumal. There we found places for breakfast and dinners. This was one of the most relaxing vacations I’ve had and the house and the lovely people who care for it made it special. We hope to return. Stephanie thought of everything too! For those who like being more active, there is tons to do all around here!

Paradise Casa
Our family of 3 stayed here for 3 weeks. The property is exceptionally maintained and taken care of. The owner and team of people taking care of this house were all wonderfully helpful and pleasant to deal with throughout our stay. We would 100% stay again and recommend it to anyone looking for something other than an all inclusive experience

We had best vacation ever in Akumal, part of our stay in Casa Esperanza - and it was the best part. The villa is exactly as shown and described. Stephanie gave us all the information prior to arrival, and Carlos, the property manager, arrived shortly to welcome us.
We did not realize that the villa is in the centre of the Akumal universe, just across wonderful beach and all the sports, with several restaurants and shops nearby. And yet it is quiet and secluded, with wonderful gardens surrounded by palm forest. The location cannot be better.
We sailed the catamaran ("Robinson Crusoe Sailing" arranged by the Diving Shop), we snorkeled with turtles, dived in cenotes (so many in the area), and visited Tulum. We enjoyed great margaritas during happy hours at the beach bar, and one evening Carlos arranged for Mexican dinner cooked and served at the terrace in the villa. The food was fantastic and it was plenty. We just paid for groceries and very reasonable fee for the cooks. They cleaned up the kitchen and were on their way shortly after dinner.
Other nights we also did not cook ourselves because we liked to go to the nearby restaurants; but if you want to cook, everything you could think of is provided in the kitchen. Even lime juicer so we could make our own margaritas.
The bedrooms are very comfortable, linens fresh and cool, bathrooms spacious and spotless. Common areas are beautifully decorated and cheerful. There is air conditioning but fans provide enough cooling most of the time.
The house has unique design with separate entrances to all bedrooms from outside. Beware of leaving the keys inside your bedroom, you can lock yourself out! It happened to us, but Carlos arrived to our rescue withing minutes. We also appreciated the presence of security guard at night, even though we did not feel unsafe in Akumal. We enjoyed chatting with the friendly young man who was guarding us.
We could only wish we stayed longer. Thank you Stephanie !

Amazing stay - exceeded expectations!
Our family of five spent Christmas in Akumal and we couldn't have found a more perfect spot than Casa Esperanza! The house and grounds are gorgeous....beautiful flowers, greenery, and a tropical feel, yet steps away from the plaza and beach access! We loved the pool too. The 3 bedrooms worked perfectly for us - two couples and a single - and the main residence area was a wonderful place for us to gather, cook and celebrate Christmas day. Carlos greeted us the first day and was available for all our needs. He even brought over two cute little Christmas trees as decoration. We met his lovely family and wife Diana who also cleaned our place to make it spotless while we were out at the beach. We made friends and chatted each evening with Mau, our security man. And Stephanie was extremely helpful well before we arrived, helping us set up meals, giving us tips on ATMs, rental cars, restaurants, etc. We could walk everywhere - some amazing meals at Turtle Bay, Taverna, and Lol Ha. And the beach - well, just a walk around the corner and there you are - great swimming, palapas for rent, and great snorkeling in front of Secrets. We shopped locally around the plaza, had massages at the Hotel Caribe, and lunch with the locals at Loncheria. ALL walkable! Easy to rent a car at the Hotel, which was delivered to our door, for our day trip to Tulum and ruins. We would go back in heartbeat - and we are already missing our vacation paradise :( I highly recommend Casa Esperanza for a perfect Mexican vacation!

We had a great time at Casa Esperanza. It was easy to find, close to the beach and other attractions. Yal-Ku is a must! Xplor was a bit like Mayan Disneyland, but we had fun and it was worth the trip. Far enough away from Cancun but close enough to get what you want from Maya Riviera!
