Welcome to Garlands Getaways Tugaloo on Hartwell, our gorgeous waterfront lake home for 15. Perfect for entertaining, reunions, or weekends away. Located just 45 minutes from Clemson University or just under an hour from the University of Georgia, it's the perfect spot to stay if you're headed to either school for any reason.
Our 4 bedroom home is three levels and offers privacy with an oversized deck, double slip dock, deep water, golf cart, bikes, two new kayaks, paddleboard, and more. One of our best features will delight kids and parents alike: a separate game/rec room with pool table, TV, sofa, and bunk beds. You get your space for fun, and they get theirs!
Ideally located between SC and GA and perfect for a getaway that worlds from the hustle and bustle of city life, Garlands Getaways Tugaloo lake home was recently remodeled and redecorated. It is perfect for a group of up to 15 friends or family (furry family members welcome too! Up to 3), and Lake Hartwell is among the best for sunny days of shimmering water, boating, watersports, fishing, and simply relaxing. Our home is the perfect spot to enjoy it all.
Tugaloo on Hartwell is a large property that enjoys over 450' of water frontage with a beautifully maintained beach and a huge, covered, double-slip dock (one for use by guests). Deep water means no stagnation, no lake weeds ticking your toes, and ample distance from your neighbors for peace and relative privacy.
Tugaloo on Hartwell will provide the ultimate in comfort and roominess for a large group to soak up the relaxation of the lake. Its three levels feature a large living and fully equipped kitchen on the main floor. Stainless appliances are new, and all you need to prepare and enjoy great meals is provided. Our custom dining table will accommodate up to 12 guests with a second table for 4 plus bar seating. The oversized deck right off the kitchen/living room includes seating and a table as well as a large grill for whipping up your favorite cookout foods. The living area features comfy couches and new flatscreen TV, and a full-size washer and dryer add convenience. And we provide starter amounts of soaps and paper products like tp, paper towels, and trash bags. (Please plan to bring/buy additional if your stay is longer than a couple of days.)
Upstairs are two bedrooms, each with a queen-sized bed and new TV. One features a desk/work area. The newly remodeled master bath has a huge walk-in shower, a deep tub, and sizable vanity area.
The lower level has a second family room with barn decor, sleeper sofa and a new Smart TV with cable and Internet access (Netflix). Two more bedrooms offer (1) twin bed + twin bunk beds and (2) a queen bed. The downstairs full bathroom has also been upgraded.
A kids/teens/night owls' dream: the separate recreation/entertainment building is just steps from the main house (50'), and inside is a new flatscreen TV, pool table, and couches. It sleeps 4 guests with a set of bunk beds plus sleeper sofa. Dogs are welcome, to a maximum of 3 (small fee).
To complete your stay, we have various water toys available for your use (kayaks, paddleboard), lounge chairs on the dock, a golf cart to ease your way to the lake from the house, plus bikes for pedaling fun. We provide information on renting motorized watercraft (ski boats, pontoons, waverunners) and can help with fishing information as well. There are some great lake-side restaurants that are accessible by watercraft.
In addition to all the perks of lake life, the Lavonia / Hartwell area offers great antique shopping, a variety of restaurants, and fantastic hiking opportunities with nearby waterfalls and nature trails.
You'll enjoy access to the entire home. We do welcome furry friends (maximum of three); that nonrefundable pet fee is $100 for one, $150 for two, and $200 for three. We ask that you clean up after your pets in our yard.
Primary renter must be at least 25 years old, sign a rental agreement within 48 hours of booking, be present for the duration of the stay, and agree to a $500 damage deposit hold (not a charge) that will be placed on the guest's credit card prior to arrival and released after his/her uneventful stay. No smoking or events allowed. Dogs are allowed to a maximum of 3 with a fee of $100 for the 1st pet and $50 for each additional. Quiet hours are strictly enforced: 11pm-8am.

This place was the perfect trip for my family and I.. We very much enjoyed ourselves & couldn't have asked for a better place/dock for our large family/small children.. the hosts where all very well accommodating and very respectful.. We do wish to come back again in the future.

My family & our dog stayed for a week at this wonderful home. The communication was top notch, the beds were so comfy, and the location was perfect. It couldn’t have been any better.

The lake location was great. The house, in general, was ok, but the kitchen lights did not work over the kitchen island. We had nine people in our family, and the kitchen was way too small. There was only one route to the kitchen from the living room. The house had been remodeled, and they put the sink in the kitchen island, which took away the area to prep meals. There is no garbage disposal in the sink. The other kitchen top had other appliances that occupied most of the space. There were a lot of spider webs and yellow jackets nested around the house. I'm not sure when the last time the outside of the house was cleaned was, but it was a challenge. For a family of 4, it would be a great vacation spot, but with 6 or 7 adults, it was a challenge with only two full bathrooms. There is an additional house with a bunk bed and bed with a pool table and refer, but no bathroom, which I thought was odd.

Great house! Great location. Quiet area, not crowded with boats and jet skis. The golf cart was soooo helpful. Plenty of sleeping space for surprise guests. The AC worked great. The kitchen was well equipped for large groups. Plan meals ahead and shop ahead. You are a long way from the store.There are tvs in every room. We loved this place and will rent again.

Family stayed at this property for my daughter’s graduation from Clemson University. Great property on Lake Hartwell. Really nice deep water dock good for fishing, swimming, and tanning. Kayaks and paddle board on property. Boat and Jet Ski rentals nearby if needed. Would definitely recommend to anyone that wants to enjoy some time on the lake!

Our family enjoyed our stay. Beautiful clean home and property! We visit this area a couple times a year due to having family here. My brother and nieces live close and we were all able to get together at the house and have a nice visit. My only suggestion would be to have the cleaning company wipe down the outdoor furniture and sweep the porches. Everything was covered in spider webs which is understandable, but still needed done.
No more hotel stays now that we found this place. We will definitely be back.

Every aspect of this stay was 5 stars! The hosts were extremely responsive and helpful, the property was clean, well appointed, spacious, and everything it claimed in the listing. We stayed with our dog and 2 small children and the accommodations were more than enough if our party had been triple the size! The property was well maintained inside and out and even during a time when lake levels were very low, there was deep water and good fishing from the dock. Golf cart was a huge bonus as well! We will definitely stay here again and highly recommend booking your stay here as well

I had the pleasure of staying at this fantastic property for our family reunion, and it exceeded all our expectations. This place was a hit with every generation in our family. The property itself is nothing short of stunning, and its proximity to the lake made it even more special.
The highlight of this property, without a doubt, was the lake dock. It was like a private oasis, complete with shade and a swing that allowed us to soak in the breathtaking lake views. Spending time there was an absolute joy, and it quickly became our go-to spot during our stay.
One feature that truly stood out was the golf cart. It might seem like a small detail, but it made a significant difference in our experience. It transformed what could have been tedious trips to the lake into enjoyable adventures for the whole family. We truly made the most of our time by the lake, thanks to this thoughtful addition.

The accommodations Michelle and Dan provided were fantastic! We had an absolutely wonderful time at the lake house. The home was clean and spacious. There were so many extras included that made our stay even better (firewood, beach towels, extra blankets & pillows, water sports, just to name a few). The bonus game room was a delightful addition and made for a fun family evening. We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. Thank you for sharing your home and making our trip so memorable!

If you are looking for a perfect spot on Lake Hartwell, this is it! Communication with owner was great. Dan was very responsive and helpful anytime I had a question. The dock location close to big water was great for boating and swimming. Property is well maintained and firepit was great after long days on the lake. We had a large group of adults, teens, kids, and dogs. Plenty of room for everyone. Had an awesome time and would definitly rent this property again!

What a beautiful lake house, it was everything we had hoped for and more!
The kitchen had everything we needed and the dining table was spectacular with view of the lake. If we wanted to chill out, what a comfortable living space, everyone had enough space to claim their own and the TV was BIG so you could sit anywhere and be super comfy.
If you wanted to take a walk to the lake or around the property, it is beautiful, peaceful and clean. If you don’t want to walk, use the golf cart. If you wanted to have adventure, the kayaks are there to use and are in great shape.
Plenty of beds and rooms for privacy. Beds were comfortable and new pillows which was a delight.
Don’t forget your s’more goodies, there is a fire pit in back where you can relax with great Adirondack chairs.
The owners of this house really put thought and love in this house and it shows. You will not be disappointed! We can’t wait to get back there again!!

We rented for the weekend. Sad we didn’t have more time to enjoy all the house has to offer. It’s clean and has plenty of space for two families. First time to visit Lake Hartwell in Georgia. The property was perfect for a large family and we all enjoyed our stay. Multiple entertainment areas, large deck, game room, very well equipped and maintained property. No true master bedroom/bath but all the bedrooms and bathrooms were spacious.The dock was a walk down a path but the use of the golf cart was a bonus to transport items to the dock. The dock was very large with plenty of room and the walk-in lake access was great for everyone and the dogs. Multiple kayaks and paddle board available to use was exactly what you want in a lake property. The location was very quiet during our stay. The host was great to work with and very responsive. Lovely Home with great location. Had an issue with ants on the dock and owner sent out exterminator to spray. Could have used a few more staples in the kitchen (foil, stretch wrap, etc.). Grill was not the greatest it took way too long to cook thin hamburgers so we only used once. Beds are comfortable and not broke down which is always nice to get a good nights sleep. Lots of towels and places to sleep. Quiet cove for the kids and adults to hang out, float and kayak or paddle board.

This home is so beautiful. It is everything you see in the pictures. We had beautiful sunrises, awesome fire pit family time, and delicious meals. Because the kitchen is well stocked. The beds are super comfortable. The Garland's (owners) respond quickly and are so helpful with any area questions. Having the pool table room was such a blessing. Something to do even if it rains. I hope to return yearly.

Great house and lakeside family retreat
We were two large families of 15 in total, and it was a comfortable stay using the pullout couches and the detached rec room. The only stressor was the lack of showers (2) and hot water for the numbers we had, but after the first day we learned to stagger the showers, and it worked just fine. Dan, the owner, was very helpful and answered all our questions very quickly. The pictures are accurate of the home, with two exceptions. The master bathroom upstairs is a shared bathroom, not an ensuite. Second, the dock is hidden from the view of the house. We assumed you could see the dock from the porch, but the dock and swimming area you can see is not the dock for this house. The dock for this house is through some trees and a path (hence the included golf cart). It wasn't an issue - but if you have kids as we did, plan to be on the dock and not watching from the yard or porch. The walk down was no big deal, and most times we didn't use the golf cart. The included kayaks and paddle board were a hit for all the kids. The only other consideration to be aware of is the distance to town for shopping. It is about 25 minutes for groceries or Walmart unless you need something quick from Dollar General which is about 10 minutes away. Again, not a negative, but plan ahead with your shopping and groceries so you can spend your time enjoying the lake and house. I'd recommend this house and Dan as a host. It was a very nice stay, especially for two large families.

Beautiful accommodations ... wonderful recreation opportunities (the kayaks, fire pit and game room were put to good use!) ... and special little touches everywhere you looked.
Ideal spot in which to celebrate our daughter's graduation from Clemson! Layout was ideal for two families (nine of us) and the location on the lake was picture-perfect!
