About this house rental

Looking for a rustic, relaxing, artsy home from which to stroll into town for dinner, a play, top-rate ice cream and baked goods, and wonderful cafes & shops? How about a ride or jog down the So. County bike path, a wooded frisbee golf course, pickle ball and tennis courts, or maybe some live music? This ideally located vacation home puts you right in the middle of all of these activities, and is just a short distance from fantastic beaches and the Block Island Ferry. Our antique home features beautiful period details and funky casual decor with a generally laid back, creative vibe. Plenty of off street parking, rear patio, front porch, and outdoor shower. Other nearby activities include the town library, bowling alley, tennis courts, skate park, Whalers Brewery, Pumphouse Music Works, indoor climbing gym, and more. Park your car and walk or bike to everything you need. Decompress and breath in the slower pace of small beach town life. This home is best for those looking for a simple, relaxing, unfussy, fun, rustic cottage-y vacation spot.

Sharon Cottage includes a large half bath off the kitchen/mud room with washer and dryer. Kitchen features gas range, dish washer, coffee maker, toaster and all your basic supplies. There is a sitting area open to the kitchen, a rear parlor with a flat screen TV, an HDMI cord to connect to any of your streaming devises. The front parlor has a beautiful bay window and dining table for sit down meals. Upstairs you will find a large full bath with lots of storage and tub-shower. The first of three bedrooms has two twin beds, second bedroom as an iron double bed, and third bedroom has a queen platform bed and ceiling fan. Bedrooms 1 & 2 have AC window units and there is a large central window unit downstairs along with plenty of fans to cool and circulate. The outdoor shower is great for rinsing off beach sand (a must for preservation of the plumbing) or for a shower under the stars. The fenced yard is roomy and flat for games and there is a shaded patio with table and chairs for outdoor dining, as well a fire pit. The beautiful So. County bike path runs directly behind the house, and there is a bike shop (Stedmans) from which you can rent bikes just one block from the house. Wi-fi is provided.

Had a wonderful time. The house is absolutely charming and so comfortable. Location is amazing for beach trips, visiting Newport and other local towns. Lovely property and neighborhood. Walkable to town, restaurants, and ice cream. Could not have a better location! 5 stars all around.

Easy commute to Narragansett Beach; we rented bikes and headed over to URI for a day exploring campus; great restaurant around the block and walking distance to Main Street. Nice quiet and peaceful spot for time away with high school junior.

3 generation family vacation; visited Newport and Block Island before weather improvements allowed us to enjoy close by beaches; host was very responsive to our needs

We just spent a week at Sharon Cottage and had a very nice time for the most part. The house is spacious and comfortable and is situated on a lovely, quiet street. We appreciated the proximity to beaches, the bike path, and the short walk to town, where there is an abundance of wonderful restaurants and cute shops. The living areas of the house, especially the dining room and living room, are charming and comfortable. The upstairs bathroom is particularly large and functional, with plenty of counter space. One major disappointment we experienced is that it became immediately clear that the photos in the listing seem like they were taken several years ago and the house is ready for some updating. The exterior paint is peeling badly, and the aging outdoor furniture is the low point of an otherwise beautiful setting. If the backyard had new or otherwise clean and stylish furniture, we would have spent much more time out there. We also had to spend a good part of our time dealing with ants in the kitchen and insects in other areas of the house as well as the outdoor trash bins. We were able to go with the flow and had a generally great week, but we recommend that the owner address some areas of the house that need attention, updating and freshening up.

The home was amazing with its 70s decor. Kept finding interesting pieces all over the house. Enjoyed coffee on the front porch every morning. The home was centrally situated to beach and downtown. We had a great time and hated to leave.

We left Wakefield with so many happy memories from the bike path to the front porch to walking to Brickleys for ice cream or soco baking company. Charming, relaxed vacation spot with everything you need to unwind and take a break from it all!
