About this cottage rental
Our Bayfront hideaway cottage is located in the middle Keys on a small island called 'Conch Key', and offers some of the best sailing in the Gulf anywhere in the Keys. Our guests have exclusive use of 23', well maintained, ComPac sailboats, for the duration of their stay. The island is the smallest island in the Keys. It is reminiscent of a quaint Bahamian lobster fishing village, with colorful cottages nestled closely together. Rustic wharves are charmingly cluttered with lobster traps, nets, and fishing gear. There is a well kept secret that lobster and fish are both plentiful. Back country fishing and off shore sport fishing are readily available.
Our ideal location near Marathon, in the middle Keys, will allow you to visit both Key West and Key Largo, each approximately one hour away. Additionally, we offer dock space with water and electricity for our guests wanting to bring their own boat for some of the best fishing in the world. Impeccably clean, comfortable, and beautifully decorated.
Since 1988, we have taken pride in the fact that we have the cleanest, most well-maintained accommodations in the Florida Keys!

Great little place, super convenient location and boat dock access!

Beautiful place on the water! Nice Sunsets! Great Keys setting. Great service! Fun kayaking!

We had the best time at our stay on Conch Key. The location allowed us to explore up and down the Florida keys. My children had the best time and didn’t even want to leave our little cottage to explore. They kayaked, rode bikes and fished all day long. My son caught so many amazing fish off the dock. Plenty of room for my family of 5! Everyone had their own space. I would LOVE to come back and stay again!

Nice week on Conch Key in a clean and quiet house. Dock worked great for our 17’ boat. Everything we needed was at the house, including bait freezer. The back porch shade was wonderful all day long.

Of all the places we stayed while traveling through the keys, this was our favorite! It's clean, albeit a bit rustic, and just perfect for our family. My son spent most of his time 'hunting' lizards and fishing off the dock. We saw lots of different marine wildlife from needle fish and grunt fish to horseshoe crabs and rays. They have lights under the dock so you can even look for critters afyer dark.A few days before our stay, someone even saw a manatee! It was so idyllic. My husband is already planning another trip.

The cottage was exactly as described. Extremely clean. Perfect location & easy to find. The sunsets off the dock are THE BEST!! Barry is very friendly & knowledgeable of the area & gave us some recommendations of places to go.

Wonderful vacation rental! Authentically rustic yet convenient and perfectly suited to all of our needs. We absolutely will be back in 2025 and stay a full 7 days this time.

The cottage has beautiful views of the sunset, was clean and quaint, and had lovely owners who responded immediately to any issues and even took us out sailing. The kitchen was well stocked for cooking, the beds comfortable and the back deck was a beautiful place for morning coffee and evening meals.
But, from the moment we arrived, the noise from the nearby highway was a constant presence. The sound was really loud many times, less so other times, but it was rarely quiet during our stay.
Additionally, because Conch Key is so tiny, we had to drive all the time to get to activities. This cottage would be perfect for guests who sail, who don't mind the drive, or the sound of the nearby road, which wasn't us. We left two days early.
In spite of our mixed experience, we want to express gratitude to Tammy for her wonderful hospitality and wish her all the best.

The cottage was very cute and full of character! We appreciate the great hospitality Barry extended. Would definitely suggest this as a great place to stay for some time in the Florida Keys!

My husband and I stayed 4 nights in this cottage in Conch Key. We were greeted by the host when we arrived and again when we checked out. The cottage was well maintained with everything working and decorated with sea and beach memorabilia that was fun to explore. The kitchen had everything I needed to prepare simple meals. The host provided fishing poles and the fishing gear. My husband loved using these to fish off the dock in back of the cottage. Sailboats, kayaks and bikes were also available. We don't sail but did fully enjoy the rest. The location was great for exploring the middle and lower keys. We would love to go back again next year.

Old Florida - the only way to go! Quaint, clean & quiet - just what you need for a relaxing vacation. Nothing fancy - just the "slow & easy" life in the Keys. A few days on the water looking for "bugs", nice dinner in a local restaurant, & coffee on the back porch with the cool, fresh air = the best time.

This was our first experience in the Keys. We had a great time. We will definitely be back next year but I think we will be staying in Key West. There is more to see and do there.

We recently had a week-long stay at this property in Conch Key for the mini lobster season. Berry welcomed us and went out of his way to make our stay comfortable. We enjoyed the nautical decorations and felt it was very clean. To top it all off, the views from the back porch and dock were beautiful.

When we decided to travel to the Keys, we wanted to find a special, unique, homey, rustic “Keys” feel, something on water, not tons of people, and a private home. We found it all and so much more in this special home.
This place, it’s owners Barry (and Tammy we hope to meet you on our next visit) are something truly special on so many levels. From the moment you enter you feel like your in a true step back in historical time. So many trinkets, gadgets, old nautical artifacts, etc. while this home is not a luxury hotel/home, it has more charm and warmth than any place I’ve ever stayed.
Barry was wonderful in his communication, prompt in responses (thanks Barry for putting up w my endless inquiries and “research”:). Our stay was made even better when met some other friends, went sailing on the boat, shared dinner together and heard such great tales and experiences of the Keys from Barry. He gave fantastic suggestions on things to see and great recs on restaurants. He even escorted us and got us into the Dolphin Research Center ! Not too many hosts that make everything so special for guests.
We cooked steak, crab and tuna on the outdoor grill. We fished nightly off the dock and caught several fish. The floating platform made for memorable wine, fishing and the most gorgeous sunsets ever. We spent a lot of time in the kayaks, and watching the parrot fish swim near the dock.
We had the greatest time, and NO doubt will be returning. Thanks so much Barry.

The four of us adults had a wonderful stay - we rented both the cabin and the upstairs "treetop", so there were 2 bathrooms and plenty of privacy with beautiful sunsets and a relaxing vibe. Conch Key is central to Islamorada and Marathon Keys, so there was so much to do, we had a hard time squeezing it all in during our 4 days there. Barry is quite the character and so accommodating, we even enjoyed margaritas and conversation when he brought more mixer after we ran out! We must be some of the luckiest guests ever, as a family of manatees joined us one evening and hung around the docks long enough for us to see them on our way out for a sail and for quite a while after we returned! We were sorry to have to leave so soon, but Tammy made sure to invite us back which would be great! We all would recommend staying here if you like real down-to-earth hosts, wild sea animals (we also spotted a giant sea turtle on one of our sails), and the laid back "old Florida " lifestyle.

What a wonderful surprise! The house was filled with period pieces of nautical nostalgia. My husband is a history buff and a nautical enthusiast, so he thoroughly enjoyed the environment. Gorgeous sunsets, great sailing and other water gear. I highly recommend this place!

The location of this place is great, in and old community that feels like you are home. Everyone waves and the owner lives across the street and is there for anything you might need. This place is waterfront with a place to dock your boat, or use the sailboat or kayaks. Lots of fish to be caught off the dock just 20 feet from the back door. Anything from snapper to tarpon and maybe a shark.
This original house takes you back in time and is perfect for a relaxing getaway vacation.

My only issue was the location. It’s a 20-30 minute in either direction to Marathon or Islamorada. If you’re looking for a quiet trip and plan to cook at the cottage you’ll be fine. We found ourselves driving a lot more than we anticipated. Other than that the cottage was quaint, it’s a quiet neighborhood and it was nice to sit out on the water, drink morning coffee or have a glass of wine at sunset and watch the fish swim

When I left my home the day of checkin, I told my daughter that we were going to travel back in time and that I was setting the time traveling clock to 1955. She didn't understand what I meant until we arrived. Personally I loved the old key west feel of the property. My daughter and my girlfriend's oldest son, took a bit longer to get cozied up, but my girlfriend's youngest son loved it from the start. From the vintage kitchen cabinet from the 1920's as you walk in, to the decoration around the home, it became a learning experience for all. Bonus for me was being able to dock my boat out back and park the trailer on the property. It is a very friendly and family oriented neighborhood. All the locals know each other and say hello as they see you. The only negative I found and it is not directed to Barry and Tammy is the boat ramp on the island. If you are not skilled hauling a boat out of the water or have a heavy duty truck, the ramp will give you a challenge taking the boat out of the water. You see it is a very small concrete slap into the water and then it has a deep drop. The boat ramp owner should fill it up a bit.Barry and Tammy are awesome hosts. They are very communicative, friendly and down to earth. Barry even called me the day before arriving to introduce himself. Property was very clean and welcoming. Overall I would return to the property without any hesitation. Barry and Tammy, thank you for everything.

Does not come with boat.
I actually rented this property because I thought it came with a boat. So that’s not very clear when booking. It actually does NOT come with a boat. The boats there seen in the pics are sail boats with very little capability for the area. They do have a small motor but when I spoke to the owner about using one he quickly talked me out of it since those masts can’t get under any bridges and the water is mostly too shallow to go out alone unless he goes with you. So if your looking for a place with a boat this isn’t it. There is a super nice covered boat sitting there that’s probably the owners but that is not mentioned ever. The owner does live across the street and is very respectful of privacy. Location is an hour and a half from key west and 15-20 mins from marathon. We didn’t mind the commute. Cute little house but doesn’t have a washer and dryer so make sure to plan for that. Summer months are the best to visit the keys so the ocean is more flat for fishing, snorkeling, and other ocean fun. Also, there is no shampoo, body soap, and two rolls of toilet paper. There did seem to be plenty of towels. Air conditioning works great. Back deck is pretty private. Nice place if you kyack and fish!

Great stay!
We had a wonderful trip down to the Keys. This little house is conveniently located between our day trips to Key West & Key Largo. The view from the back porch was pretty in the evenings to sit out and visit.

Adorable cottage on the water
Everything was great with the property. We loved staying here. It was away from the hustle and bustle but close enough to town to get groceries and grab food. Highly recommend.

Back to the Future
A home built in 1953 in the Keys. Beautiful throwback experience with all modern amenities. Wifi and air conditioning works well. Biles, fishing rods, boats, kayaks all right there and available
For use. Wonderful to sit on pier and watch sunset. Comfortable beds. Well equipped. Everything just works. And Barry across the street in case you need anything. He even fished our wetsuit out of the water when it fell in from the wind.
Will definitely stay there again next time in middle keys.

Authentic Keys Experience
You come to the Keys for the salt water and the laid-back lifestyle, right! This rental is the authentic experience. Kayak right off your private dock, watch the sunset off your own porch. Rental is decorated inside like a ship's cabin - lots of unique artifacts. Highly recommended for those who enjoy authenticity.

Our kind of place
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed fishing at the dock, sailing, kayaking, reading on the porch, and snorkeling. Lots of fun things were provided right at the property so we mostly stayed around there. The cottage was interesting, with all kinds of trinkets that captured our interest (and occasional laugh). It was also clean and well-stocked. We did most of our cooking there. Barry and Tammy were extremely helpful. We would definitely go back!

Old Forida - Loved It!
Photos of the property are true. This is "old Florida" at its best. Very easy to find and check in was great. Barry was very informative and helpful. Marina access was 1 minute away and Tammy, Barry's wife, works there p/t - very nice and helpful. House had everything we needed. We had 2 Sea Doos and dockage was great. Access to Conch & Duck Key was perfect. No luck on the Lobsters - too small. They appeared to be laughing at us! Key West was explored on scooters. Dinner at "Two Friends" is definitely a must. Great mini vacation for the Family. We will be planning a return. Thank you for sharing your home.

Relaxing home with character
We loved this house! It had everything we needed. It definitely felt like you were staying in a piece of Keys history. Conche key is not touristy but it's central location made it easy to get to all the activities and have somewhere peaceful to come back to at the end of the day. We enjoyed fishing off the dock and kayaking in the cove. We caught snapper, grunts and even barracuda. We saw many fish, lobsters, parrot fish, starfish and even a nurse shark in the Cove. If you want something cookie cutter and modern, look somewhere else but if you want a one of a kind stay, consider booking with Barry.
