Reminds me of 50 years ago going to our camp as a teenager. Gives us great pleasure to show and teach our 5 granddaughters the joy of family as we say i maine"the war life should br:

Upon my arrival it took me over an hour to gain access to the property as the host provided the incorrect keylock combination and was unreachable for sometime, through multiple forms of communication.
Entering the cabin I was met with a large pile of sawdust in the middle of the carpet, which the owner told me to vacuum up. There was also a damaged lamp, the shade was torn almost completely in half. There was trash in the barrels in the kitchen and the bathroom. Which by the way is not even located in the cabin. It is located in a shed next to the dirt driveway.
The amenities list a washer and dryer, the washer would not spin out the laundry and the dryer would not get hot. In the shower we discovered a very nice men's razor along with soap and shampoo, which we disposed of. It was abundantly clear that the previous guest did not clean up after themselves nor had any kind of property management been by to even inspect the cabin. I say this confidently as there was $20 on the table, I presume from the previous guests use of fire wood.
Halfway through my stay the Wi-Fi stopped working, even after attempting to reset the router, we were with out it and any form of cell service for the remainder of our stay.
There is one full size bed, a day bed on the screen porch and a pull out couch. There is not a bedroom but a bed behind a curtain.
The lake is beautiful.

Such an ideal spot on the lake. Easy in and out with beautiful views and fun things to do. Katahdin was visible with beautiful sunrises. Kayaking, fire pit, protection from a rainstorm. Rustic, yet all necessities provided.

To start it is a step up from camping but i’d rather go camping.
My wife and I have rented MANY properties throughout Maine so we have comparisons. My number one problem is I don’t think anyone checks the property after visitors have left. Case in point we went get the cushions so we could relax but the bin they were stored in is not water proof and the cushions were wet, a couple didn’t dry till Thursday. A soaking wet dishcloth on the counter, garbage not brought out to the curb on Tuesday, three bags in the can. The vacuum cleaner and sweeper FILLED with dirt and hair. You are supposed to clean before you leave but the mop still had packaging on it so how did the previous people mop? The owners are not inspecting what they expect. The furniture was worn which is one thing but terribly dirty! As far as six people, good luck. Oh, and it is NOT safe for young children and the electrical outlets are overloaded, a serious hazard.
OVER PRICED! With that said it is a BEATIFUL spot! Great swimming

We had a great time. Loved being able to bring the pets on vacation with us. Beautiful spot right on the water. We had a little trouble with bees flying around the deck area. When we would eat outside they would start coming around. Note to people who bring dogs who like to swim- there is no easy access in and out of the water except for climbing on rocks, which made our dogs nails bleed a bit. Didn’t seem to bother the dogs though. There is a grocery store about 20 minutes away which was very convenient. We cooked on the grill every night and had s’mores by the campfire. We’ll be back again!

Peaceful retreat
Enjoyed a quiet weekend on the lake, listening to the waves. Caught some beautiful sunrises right from the deck. My dogs enjoyed swimming in the lake and lounging on the deck. One of the most beautiful and peaceful places I've stayed.

Perfect lake cottage.
Couldn't have ask for a better lake cottage. The weather rolling in, sunsets, fishing, waking up and jumping in. My daughter and I had a great time. Very relaxing!

Perfect Rustic Hideaway
a perfect rustic little cabin on an idyllic lake! We had a wonderful time... the cabin is exactly as it is described... 2 steps up from camping with everything you could ever need. Perfect spots to sit and watch the ever changing moods of this quiet lake. We were early in the season so appreciated the closed in porch for warmth, but also the deck, the dock, the firepit. Nothing like waking up to a picture perfect sunrise in bed! Patti is so responsive and helpful, all the information was clear. A great experience!

Beautiful piece of Maine
If you are looking for peace and quite on a beautiful lake, this little camp is it. I've never seen water clearer, the deck of the camp is right over the water. My wife and I truly enjoyed our stay. Thank-you Patti for allowing us the visit.

Three in a row
This is our third summer in a row at "Camp My Own". Every year just gets better. This year made it special thanks to pat making a week available for our family. With all the nonsense this year has brought.. and spending less time with family... this week together brought us closer than ever... Thanks so much pat again... hope to talk next year.

A great getaway!
Our family of 4 stayed for 4 nights of our August vacation. We had such a great experience as this was out first VRBO booking. Patti was great and very responsive to any questions. Parking was definitely difficult with a large Toyota Tundra but other than that we had a great time!

Nice Place Tough Driveway
The place was clean and the deck was nice. My Nephew slept on the screen porch and said it was comfortable. The kitchen was stocked nicely with pans and dishes. The lake was beautiful and crystal clear. The only issue we had was the driveway. We could not get the boat around the tight corner. Other than that we had a nice time.

Location, Location, Location
The deck is the deal. On the lake, over the water & plenty of seating. Charmingly tucked away, the cottage provides all the necessities. Bathroom, shower & laundry w/ clothesline suited us perfectly. So happy to have discovered this gem. Thanks Patti...

Tell me bout the good old days
Camp My Own brought me back to days when I spent summers at my grandparents little camp on the lake. Nothing fancy but everything you'd ever need. Comfortable, Quiet, and peaceful. A wonderful place for our grandchildren to put down the phones and tablets and enjoy and learn the value of family, and to understand what a great state and country we live in, despite all the nonsense going on.
The deck and dock are layed out perfectly for our boat and plenty of room for our younger grandchildren to enjoy a safe and fun place to swim. We explored the lake and found some great fishing spots. The kids loved tubing and as one of photos in description suggested Deadmsns rock, we gave it a try...a blast for all.
The owner made everything so easy, check in and out, for amenities, if it wasn't there you didn't need it. Popcorn machine was a huge hit! So in closing, if you're looking for the Hilton on a lake in Maine look elsewhere. However, if you're looking for the motto (Maine, the way life should be,) look no further!!! Again great thanks to Patti for sharing the incredible Camp My Own....

Camp My Own was the perfect place for our family to stay. The atmosphere of the cabin immediately implores you to relax and unwind. The views are magnificent and the lake is pristine. Thank you, Patti, for preserving your family’s cabin and allowing my family to make cherished memories there. We can’t wait to be back

We really enjoyed our stay here! The lake is crystal clear and it was a private location. The owner is quick to respond and accommodating. I did rate cleanliness a 2 because although it’s a rustic camp, the people who stayed there before us thought leaving food crumbs all over the kitchen and on the deck/picnic table was ok... If you are up for a rustic experience and a beautiful place to swim, go for it!!! Thank you Patti

Perfect Spot
This was the perfect getaway! Very homey and comfortable. The view from the back deck is spectacular! We had so much fun! While some people may turn their noses up at the bathroom being in the shed, we felt it just added to the uniqueness of the place. From the first day it was called “The she shed” LOL!
Patti the property owner was very responsive from beginning to end. We highly recommend this beautiful little spot and will definitely be returning next year.

Perfect campy camp
We absolutely loved camp my own. It had the best lived in feeling with everything there you could possibly need(just bring linens/bedding and towels! I loved the story about Pattis mother acquiring the camp. The swimming was wonder and the dock was perfect for our boat. We loved it and hope to return in the future! Thank you for sharing your space with us.

Campy Camp!!
Cozy and right on the water, just what we were looking for. We ate every meal on the large deck that leads to the dock which accommodated our 24' pontoon boat nicely. Camp is also located close to the public boat landing. Our party consisted of 6 adults and 2 dogs.

Memories of a time sadly forgotten
If you are looking for a luxury camp with all the modern creature comforts of home, Camp My Own is not for you. However if you are looking for a camp in the great north woods of Maine on a beautiful crystal clear lake that is warm cozy and comfortable, look no further, Camp My Own is the place for you. My wife and I brought our 5 granddaughters(ages 8-14) to Camp My Own, there was plenty of room for us, the camp was very clean and the pictures that are shown on Home Away are beautiful and accurate but still doesn’t do the property justice. To our surprise, swimming, fishing, nature walks, campfires, board games and conversations took the place of Facebook, Instagram and You Tube which I didn’t think possible these days. We connected with our granddaughters like I connected with my grandparents more than a half century ago. Camp My Own is an uplifting wonderful place. The owner made the process very simple. All you need to bring is sheets towels and food. She posts all rules and expectations for an easy check out and many helpful hints to make your stay very seamless. Our deposit was refunded the day after checkout. So maybe my best advice is to let everyone know that Camp My Own will be a grandparents and granddaughters tradition every summer for years to come.

Fall Foliage Tour
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Camp "My Own". We expected to go and enjoy a little simpler life we had enjoyed earlier (before kids) in life. We found that bringing your own sheets and towels was all you needed, everything else was there. We had a small glitch with the kitchen water but that was quickly responded to by Patti and was rectified soon after having it. We were a little ahead of peak foliage but still able to find quite a few areas that were quite colorful and caught a beautiful sunrise one morning. We would go back again earlier in the year for fishing. Our refund was also quickly returned by the owner. Thank you Patti for a wonderful place to stay!

As the sunrise picture shows, there are some very nice attributes to the camp. A little more description about the camp being what one would and ought to expect for 1950s and 1960s would be helpful. Visitors over age 70 would be advised to understand the primitive nature of the camp and access will lead to some additional challenges; From parking and movement within an extremely narrow driveway with obvious property constraints. The camp is in need of additional maintenance on several fronts. When maintenance is performed, such as that beautiful deck shown to the left, it is done professionally. Some fixtures such as the rusted "sofa" on the deck with no mattress and exposed springs should be removed. Outdoor grill sparker was non-functional, so we didn't try to use it at all out of caution. Believe me when I say I'm trying to be balanced with the review. My family had a camp on this lake for decades. I'm a vigorous, independent DIY'er for my homes; we know how expensive it can be to maintain camps, and my grandmother's experiences to get hers were similar to the original owner of this place. During our time in Maine, we had relatives come in from out of state who rented another property on the lake a short distance up-lake. There was a world of difference; and we both paid about the same price! They hosted family gatherings! In the opinion of this reviewer, this property in present condition is significantly over-priced, all things considered. If you like primitive (and I do; I backpack and take my family tent camping in the Pacific NW every year) you'll be fine, but paying a premium price for the experience in comparison to other alternatives in the area. Bring your sleeping bag and pillow. Support staff and owner were courteous and helpful throughout renting process and closeout, inclusive of prompt refund of deposits. That service is always appreciated. In sum, thank you. WJF.

Great location, right on the lake, with amazing views!
The owner, Patti, was a pleasure to deal with, answered questions in a timely manner and has a very thorough set of instructions, letting you know where things are and some tips. The view is amazing and we benefited from a meteor shower that lit up the sky with shooting stars that looked like you could reach out and touch them! The cottage has everything you need, the basics are covered, but you do need to bring bedding and towels. My one critique would be the shower in the converted shed bathroom. It's small and the water pressure is weak, but it gets the job done and if your mindset is that you are camping, you will be fine. Overall, I highly recommend this rental. We had 2 adults in their 40's, a 24 and a 20 year old and a 16 and 10 year old in total and we fit comfortably.

Perfect spot to recharge!
Can't wait to go back! The cabin was so quaint and lovely to stay at, it felt like home away from home. It was very clean, well stocked with cooking supplies and had plenty of space for everyone. We had amazing weather for our trip so we spent the majority of our time on the deck, on the dock and in the water! The lake is one of the most beautiful we have ever seen. We enjoyed taking drives to various towns each day and took in a drive in movie one evening. We saw lots of wildlife, were amazed by the stars at night and enjoyed sitting around the fire! Patti was a great host and was very responsive when we asked a few questions. Looking forward to our next trip!

Very nice cabin by Schoodic lake! Great communication from owner.
We (my 2 kids and I) stayed in this cabin for about 10 days and had a great time. The cabin though old fashioned is well maintained. The bathroom and shower are in a separate annex. Patti the owner responded quickly to inquiries. I’d recommend renting her kayak. It’s small but it’s wonderful to go around and workout (if you’re into that...). If you’re not familiar with Schoodic lake, note that it’s a large lake with lots of cabin along its shore, so if you’re looking for the fully remote, no jet ski or motorboat place it’s not it. That being said it’s a charming and wonderful setting.

wonderful and happy
We loved the homey feel....the beautiful views....the lake....and the peacefulness of it all. We had such a good time over the last 4 days. It felt like staying at a family's house that we had visited many times over even though we had never been there before. It's not fancy and that was perfect for us. I really will miss it! Even going out to the shed to the bathroom! I hope we can go back again next year.

Perfect and Peaceful
We wanted to go somewhere to get away from it all and it was the perfect place to do that. The lake was beautiful and the camp was adorable. It was everything we were looking for our anniversary weekend. It was so hard to leave such an amazing place but we will definitely be back!

How can you not love seeing the milkyway, watching the sun rise across the water, experience nature
The cabin was a camp - warm and welcoming; not pretentious. We had everything we needed, and nothing more. The price was worth having to bring our own sheets and towels, and they left all cleaning supplies making it easy to leave the place clean. We will be going back!!

Relaxing & Peaceful
Our family of four loved this camp as it truly felt like being at camp. Being literally on the water and having the view of the lake was amazing. The location is perfect and we would highly recommend this to anyone looking for peace and relaxation.

The property is beautiful! It sits on the lake and the views are breath taking! Rustic! Fun!
The property is quiet, comfortable and has everything you need for a rustic cabin in the woods on a lake! The sun and the moon rise from directly across the lake and the views are spectacular! It was a wonderful way to spend a romantic weekend for our anniversary! Although I would see my family having just as much fun here as well! This was a special place to find and I would bet everyone has a great time here! Don't forget to meet the little red squirrel he is very friendly and sooo cute! Thank you again Patti, we enjoyed every minute! Chris and Wes
