Huge home, wonderful setup

The property is in a prime location. It was nice having the pool and beach so close. However; there are many repairs and updates needed. The outdoor furniture was rusted and old and should be replaced, dishwasher upper rack was broken, most of the cabinets and drawers throughout the house were in need of repair, roaches were found inside and outside the house, tiles in and around the pool were missing, one kitchen chair was broken upon arrival and another was close to breaking, along with other issues. One would expect better out of a house that cost as much as this one did for one week. Despite all of this, our family had a great vacation.

Nice house
The house itself slept everyone perfectly. I do personally feel like some things could have been a little more taken care of for the amount it is to rent such as, the third floor shower had hardly any water pressure and the water was not very warm and the bed was the hardest bed in the entire house. Overall the house was nice and the pool area and private access to the beach were perfect!

Beautiful location
Beach was beautiful even though the weather didn't cooperate, we were grateful to have a heated pool (even if it costs extra). Red tide was high during our stay and causes a lot of uncomfortable breathing and coughing. Would have been nice to have the hot tub hot and not just heated though. Ultimately, the house was adequate, decorations were nice, but there were many damaged things (bed frames, wall hangings) which gave the house a feel of a revolving door. We enjoyed the bikes and gulf cart, when our gulf cart didn't work someone was there quickly to address it. We were also bothered several times with people who had the house booked for events in upcoming weeks. Overall seems good for events but not recommended for an intimate family vacation.

Great stay near Destin
This property was a great beachfront house for a group of 28. A few minor maintenance items, but the management company fixed them right away. We thought the pool was great and access to the beach was wonderful.

Great location
The location could not been any better. On the beach pool overlooking the beach quiet beach. We have stayed in Florida for the past 10 years and this was the best location we stayed at.

Nice, but improvements are overdue
Very nice property overall. However, steps/gates to the beach are from prior to the 2017 renovation and desperately require proper renovation. Elevator requires some maintenance. Must have proper lighting street side of structure....

Terrific beach house for reunion
Twenty of us celebrated a birthday milestone at this terrific beach house! Plenty of room, and bathrooms, and the management company was quick to respond to requests! We’ll be going again!!

Great location. Responsive Management. We had a wonderful time!
The home is well laid out for a large groups. Huge table for meals. Well stocked kitchen. Good insulation for noise control between rooms. Air conditioning was great and insta- hot water heater assured that there is hot water for all guests. The beach was beautiful and chair umbrella set up on the beach was so convenient!

A fun and sun filled week right on the beach.
We had a family reunion trip of 28 people stay in Not The Norm. The numerous king suites fit all of the couples and we were able to manage the bed situation for the younger crowd. There is nothing better than being steps to the beach, waking up to the ocean view, and eating all your meals with a beachfront view. Some people were on the beach 24/7, while others hung by the pool with some of the toddlers, but we never felt separated due to the proximity of the house.
We did run into some maintenance issues (broken bed, broken fridge doors, etc.) when we first arrived, but they were quickly answered and/or resolved by management team. There is limited lighting on the patio as another reviewer mentioned, but that is the norm for all beach front houses for sea turtle protection...perhaps they could invest in some sea-turtle friendly lighting as it is tricky navigating the patio steps by the pool in the dark (especially for older folk). The fully stocked kitchen suited our big group for numerous home cooked meals. I think it could use a few more serving dishes/platters, frying pans/skillets, and baking sheets.
Overall, it was one of the best beach vacations our family has had!!

Almost perfect but needs outdoor lighting
Would’ve been 5 stars but this property does not have any outside lighting. It was impossible to enjoy dinner by the pool or an evening pool party bc it was so dark. The front and back of the house seriously needs improved lighting outside. Also, it would be nice to have an outdoor shower to rinse off after a day at the beach. Besides lacking outdoor lighting and an outdoor shower, this house was FABULOUS!!! Very accommodating for a large group. We had 9 couples and everyone had their own bathroom and nice rooms to themselves. Very spacious and right on the beach! We will definitely be back!

Fabulous Family Reunion
I highly recommend "Not the Norm" for family reunions or any other large group get together. We had 22 people ranging in age from 2 - 85. With no steps at the entrance to the house and an elevator allowed easy access to all levels of the house for all family members. Plenty of bedrooms made it easy for those who needed to get away for some privacy whether work related or personal. There is wifi available, but we found it was only accessible from the main part of the house, those in the additional wing were not able to connect to it. Adults and kids enjoyed the pool. We were thankful for being located on the beach and not having to worry about driving or crossing the road with taking the kids to and from the beach; also all were able to watch beach activities even if they did not want to or were unable to go down to the water. Most of us did not want to leave and would love to come back here. We had a couple minor problems that were addressed immediately and everyone working for Five Star that I dealt with were very friendly and helpful.
