remote yet close to everything, beautiful older house, would definitely stay again!

We generally liked the property and it lived well but seemed a tad used and a bit neglected. Several little things like limited water pressure (upstairs and downstairs water couldn’t be used simultaneously), ceiling light/fan not working, etc. were pesky issues but not deal breakers. The area is quiet and the accommodations comfortable.. Contact with the host was smooth. Would consider staying there again.

Stayed here while skiing Shasta. Nice place to begin and end the day. Love the sauna.

We recently stayed here during a three-day weekend in which a snowstorm began during the late evening of our arrival day. The snow continued all next day, and it was a winter wonderland on the property! We had a blast sledding on the hill behind the house and getting warm/relaxed afterwards in the sauna. The house is cozy and has big windows to take in the surrounding beauty. The house was equipped for all our needs as we mostly hunkered down and enjoyed our time together. The road accessing the property was plowed after the storm, so getting out was not a problem. Karen, the owner, was attentive and made sure everything was fine for us at the house. Our stay could not have been any better.

Beautiful views, cozy home, close to everything without feeling too close to everything. Thank you for the memories we’ll never forget!

The description matched the house, but in person the view of Mt. Shasta was breathtaking! We enjoyed the quiet mornings w/o any close next door neighbors. The air was fresh & clean. We didn’t get to use the hot tub or sauna, but they were a plus! A few mosquitoes, but that comes w/ nature—keep the doors & screens shut. Overall a wonderful experience! Thank you Karen.

We had a great stay at Karen’s. Easy check-in, great communication. It was too hot during our stay to enjoy the sauna or hot tub but waking up to the view of Mt Shasta or winding down the day on the deck was fabulous.

We had a great time at this beautiful home. The house is very cozy and had all the amenities we needed. The hot tub was not working, but the property manager responded promptly and was able to provide a small refund for that issue. The sauna was wonderful. I'd happily stay here again. Thanks

We had a wonderful time at this beautiful property. I had a knee injury and was able to hang out upstairs in the master suite with an amazing view of Mt. Shasta covered in snow. The kiddos had a ball in the snow doing bunny hills in the backyard. Everything was so clean and nice. Thanks again for sharing your property with our family! We would love to come back one day!

Shasta greeting you each morning is a special treat everyone enjoyed. The interior of the home was very welcoming and comfortable. Lots of fun games and books to enjoy. An overall great experience for the entire family!

We had a great stay at this beautiful, serene, quiet place and got lucky with beautiful weather the whole stay which gave us stunning views of Mt Shasta from the house.
Sauna and the open space were a real highlight, the kids loved running around outside. Hot tub under the moon and stars also not to miss.
Great house, we’ll equipped kitchen, all in good shape.

The 7 of us enjoyed this house and property tremendously. It was bright, airy and comfortable, and so much space. The sauna and jacuzzi were excellent, especially the jacuzzi because some of us had pains and it felt so good in the jacuzzi! The kitchen had everything one could need.

This was a very special place. It was spacious, clean, and light filled. We loved the sauna and hot tub. The kitchen was fully equipped and convenient to use. Coffee, tea, spices, and even flour were generously supplied. It was a super comfy, nice place to be together.

Such a gem of a cabin with great amenities, views and style! Was so grateful to stay here with a few friends during my birthday weekend. I will definitely be booking in the future!

We stayed 3 nights with our son, daughter in law and first grand child. It was an ideal setting for us. It rained the first day and we didn't even see the mountain. The second day the mountain revealed itself and for an added treat we saw a full moon rise over it and highlight one of those little cap clouds. The house is nicely decorated and well equipped. The kitchen, living room and wood burning stove serve up a cozy setting to hold and play with a 5 month old and to connect with family. It is conveniently located for quick access to Shasta and Mount Shasta. We would definitely rent again.

Great place to hang out with friends, laugh and relax. This home is staged well and has a very comfortable feeling inside and out. You can play horseshoes, relax in the hot tub, stare at Mt Shasta and watch numerous deer walk around the property. Thanks.

The worst thing I can say about this home is that it was so comfy and beautiful with such great views of Mt. Shasta and Black Butte that it was hard for us to get motivated to go out and hike. The vistas from the windows, the high ceilings, the natural daylight in the house, the well-equipped kitchen, the hot tub on the deck and attractive comfortable furniture were all enjoyed by us. We will be back and hopefully with more family members so they can enjoy it with us. Another great feature is that although the house is marvelously secluded and quiet, it is actually fast and easy to get into town to get groceries. A perfect stay.

As advertised, a wonderful, mystical experience under the ever alluring Mt Shasta!

We enjoyed the view of Mt. Shasta from the living room but there were a few negatives about staying at Michaels Mystic Mt. 1. It was very hot inside the first day we arrived. The air conditioning was not set at a comfortable level. It took the entire night for the house to be comfortable. 2. We were charged for using the grill -- I think that charge should be part of the rental fee. 3. We were warned to keep the spa clean -- as in having to shower before entering. If the water is found to be cloudy there is a $45 charge for draining and cleaning. This information was provided in the welcome note. 3. We were expected to strip our beds, put the towels and bedding into the pillow cases, put them into the laundry room, and start a load of laundry before we left on the final day. Quite frankly, even if we had stayed in a cheap hotel the management takes care of stripping beds and laundry. We wouldn't have minded much about stripping the beds, but having to start laundry? No. 4. There was a window that would not close all the way, so we could not lock it when we needed to leave on the last day. We called the housekeeper, and she asked us to go outside and push on the window from the outside in order to shut the window. This required taking off the screen. Even doing this we were unable to shut the window completely. An inconvience. 5. The downstairs shower is hard to figure out. Some directions would have been helpful.
Just a note for those who have children: this is NOT a toddler friendly house. The stairs are steep, and the field outside is full of star thistle. I don't consider this a problem for the owner, as much as an error in judgement on our part. Also, and again given the location this is to be expected, internet connection is uneven.
I would not recommend this place for a stay to my friends.

Amazing views of both Shasta and Black Butte. Very quiet place for relaxing and meditating. Some quirks however...hot water heater is not functioning properly. Almost no hot water. The deck is unstable in places and is a liability! Not a deal breaker but would be nice to know in advance.

We had a wonderful vacation here, the view of Mt. Shasta and the magic it spells is just amazing. Very peaceful, although you can hear the humming of the freeway on some days. Beautiful master bedroom with amazing views and a super comfortable bed. Loved to have coffee on the deck in the morning, but stargazing at night is just as inspiring. We enjoyed the Jacuzzi and the gas fire-pit. The two bedrooms downstairs are just as lovely, the room with the bunk beds can accommodate four kids and looks super fun (we had 2 kids sleeping there). Nice pool billiard table. Really loved this place. Hoping to return - I'm curious how it is in winter!

The name says it all! This house is clean, well kept, well stocked, and the energy is amazing. You can feel the silence and the magic in the air. The view of the Mountain truly is spectacular. The only downside is the sleeper futon, not the most comfortable, but wouldn't not stay here just because of that. I look forward to staying here again.

MMMR was a great place for our family! It was very clean, perfectly stocked, with truly amazing views of Mount Shasta. Karen was very helpful and prompt with anything we needed. The hot tub at sunset is a must! We had fun exploring the property with the kids. Great location; close enough to what we needed and far enough not to know! We would stay again!

The chalet is in a beautiful remote meadow with stunning views of Mt. Shasta. The house is very well maintained and has everything that any group from one family to two or three couples would need. We were there over Christmas and were able to have a great dinner for twelve with plenty of room. The family made ample use of the pool table and the hot tub and enjoyed just walking through the woods around the house. The house is very convenient to the town of Mt. Shasta and the town of Weed and to Mt. Shasta itself. We enjoyed several of the excellent Mt. Shasta restaurants during our stay and we also had a fantastic day at Panther Meadows, 6,000 feet up the side of Mt. Shasta with some of the group doing back country skiing and others just sledding and hiking. The owner was very pleasant to work with and we would definitely recommend this rental to anyone at any time of the year.
The only thing that we would caution about is that the owner sends very detailed instructions about how to find the house and you need to pay close attention to the instructions. She warns you that it is much better to arrive for the first time in the daylight and she isn't kidding. We arrived under the worst of conditions, namely a snowy night in Mid-December and even with her excellent instructions we couldn't find the house. We eventually stopped at one of the two other houses on the "road" and the friendly neighbors actually got in their car and led us to the house. It turned out that we had actually gotten to within about 50 yards of the house but couldn't see it in the dark and turned around just a few feet to soon. It is this great combination of a remote cabin in the wilderness (nearest neighbor is at least 1/4 mile away) and all of the comforts of a beautiful home.
