About this villa rental
Welcome to Villa Tortuga! Tortuga means "turtle" in Spanish. It is a gated, well maintained property in a well-established neighborhood in Christiansted. This lovely home sits on just under an acre of lush, tropical paradise. Brilliant flamboyant trees and sea views greet you as you enter through the gate. Your first steps through the front door of this vacation paradise draws your eyes immediately to the spectacular view. As you step out onto the newly built, incredible 1000 square foot deck, the views become even more breathtaking. The expansive deck has several vignettes to enjoy breakfast, dinner, relax, read a book or soak up the sun. The views this home have are paramount. On clear days you can see St. John to the left. As night falls, the view becomes a stargazer's paradise. The home decor is both elegant and tropical. It has dark mahogany furnishings, accented with vibrant Caribbean colors. There's a 50" flat screen TV in the living room (complete with Netflix) and a flat screen TV in the master bedroom. The master bedroom also features an en suite bathroom. Each bedroom has a queen size bed. Villa Tortuga is serene and peaceful, yet it's only 5 minutes from downtown Christiansted, shopping and restaurants. When we arrived, we were stunned by the beauty of the property! It feels like you're in a secluded tropical oasis and the view from the balcony is priceless. We spent a lot of time just looking out across the island throughout the day. The home is incredibly quiet and peaceful - we did not want to leave. The inside of the home is open with high ceilings, nice rooms, and great showers. We enjoyed the 3 setting rain shower in the master room! The Jacuzzi was also a wonderful touch especially on our honeymoon and after adventuring during the day.
One suggestion would be providing a more invited and welcomed guest feel - at times it felt like we did not always have ready access to what we needed. For example, working batteries for flashlights during the power outage or a newer, more user-friendly coffeemaker. Very minor things though.
We absolutely would return to Villa Tortuga! We were so sad to leave and would love to go back one day.

We came here for a long weekend and already are looking to come back! This property is in the perfect location with an absolutely unbelievable view of town! The host was extremely responsive to any questions we had and the house is complete with anything you would need. We love love love this property and can’t wait to plan our next trip back!

We had a lovely stay at this house for a week. James was very responsive with any questions we had. Beds were comfortable. Kitchen was fully equipped. House is beautifully decorated with nice furniture. The most scenic drive was out towards Point Udall and around the southeast shore. The prettiest beach was Carambola. You can park just before the entrance and take the stairs down through the resort. The best swimming beach was Sandy Point out by Frederiksted. There’s also a really good restaurant on the beach, called Rhythms at Rainbow Beach. We also had two friendly cat brothers who came to visit us every day. I would definitely stay here again.

We loved our stay at Villa Tortuga! The home had lots of nice accommodations including beach towels, water bottles, beach chairs etc. The location is great - outside of busy Christiansted but also a quick drive to amenities. Also very easy to drive to Frederiksted/Cane Bay etc. We spent a few nights in the hot tub relaxing after long beach days which was such a nice addition. The gate/house code was easier to figure out. If you type in "Villa Tortuga" into Google Maps, it navigates you right to the house which is helpful in the dark! If we return to St Croix, we will certainly stay here again!

The house was exactly what we were expecting. The view was a million-dollar view. We would come stay there again for work or actual vacation. The owner was very quick to respond to any inquiries that we had. He was also very informative about the house with the guest manual.

We had a lovely stay at Villa Tortuga. While near Christiansted, the property is very private and secluded with gate entry. Situated upon a high hill, views of the harbor are splendid. We did not miss a sunrise, which can be enjoyed from the deck or living room, which has expansive windows and sliding glass doors. The kitchen had a few items to help us get started, which we appreciated. The host was very responsive to all of our questions. If you don’t mind a bit of a hike, go to Jack and Isaac’s beach. Stunning!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property. We spent a lot of time on the beautiful deck in the hot tub, dining, or just gazing at the view. The house was nicely furnished, with plenty of beach towels and bath towels. We also used the sand toys, nice beach chairs, snorkel gear, and washer and dryer. The beds were very comfortable and sleeping with the breeze coming in was the best! We would recommend this house to anyone! Thank you James!

From the moment we pulled up to the gate The property was absolutely beautiful. The house is meticulously maintained. The views were spectacular and James was great communicating with us. The home had everything we needed and for being the 3rd place we stayed on our two week visit to the property we got some much needed relax time, we would definitely like to stay here again on our return visit.

We were on St Croix for 2 weeks and stayed at Dan and Frans for the second week. Dan was a great host reaching out to us with check in instructions days before arrival at his house. He was prompt in response and addressed our needs via message quickly. Views were spectacular and house was perfect for our 3 kids under 10. We loved the pool and caught every sunrise on the deck. Location was central to allow us to hit all parts of the island in 20 mins. Neighborhood was safe with guard at the entrance. Truly a great spot!

Villa Tortuga was a fabulous place for our family to stay while on the island. It was just as described online, was clean and fairly priced. As soon as we stepped onto the deck upon our arrival, my husband was so happy with the villa and the location. From the deck, you can see both sides of the island. All in all our experience was absolutely great. James was so easy to work with and was always quick to respond if I had a question. The home was clean, beds felt great, showers worked well, kitchen was nicely equipped. If we make it back to St. Croix, you can bet I will be checking to see if Villa Tortuga is still available!

It had a great central location to everything on the island, which made it easy getting around. There are air conditioning units in both bedrooms, which was very nice and greatly appreciated, the rest of the house is open air, with breezes coming through all the open windows. The home was well equipped with everything you needed, and even had beach chairs, towels, and snorkel gear for a fun day at the beach. The owner, James, was very responsive, and helpful to us whenever needed.

We spent 10 days here - perfect pick! We travel a lot and this is one of the most user-friendly experiences we have had. James is super responsive, the house is in a great locaton...close to Christianstedt, yet totally private, easy access to the entire island, great parking, and easy driving overall. As the pictures indicate the deck is amazing, as are the views (one tip, if you like dry cushions, you might want to pull them in at night as overnight showers seem to be frequent : ) The hot tub - super fun way to watch the stars/moon and city lights after dark. The kitchen is well stocked for cooking, also lots of towels, beach chairs, snorkling gear and more. I always want to know about the bed - very comfortable! We only used air conditioning in the bedroom at night - other than that, no need for it! The house isn't super new construction, but it is well maintained. We seldon watch TV while vacationing, but did watch a few Netflix movies, which was nice. I spend a lot of time researching where we stay and do read the reviews. This is a location I would definitely recommend if you like space, comfort, cooking, privacy and low-key vacationing. There are many good grocery stores near by and restaurants within 10-15 minutes of the house. We ate out a few times, but the view from our deck was so great - it was hard to want to be anywhere else for dinner!

We loved our stay at Villa Tortuga! Beautiful views, great location, prompt communication with owner. We spent our days out diving and beaching. This was such a great property to end each day looking down at the boats and watching Christiansted lighting up for the night. Enjoyed the hot tub. The bedroom air conditioning was much appreciated. It was great to be able to use the beach chairs, too. Thank you!!!

Wow! This place felt like we were at home! Quiet, beautiful, relaxing, and the view is breathtaking! James was beyond awesome as a host! We ran into some flight issues & James was able to accommodate us one more night making the process easier! Everything we needed was here. I would highly recommend this place! Great location too! We had a wonderful time in St Croix celebrating my sister’s 40th birthday. There were some plumbing issues when we arrived at the house but they were promptly repaired when the plumber came the next morning. James was very good about letting us know what to expect and communicating when the plumber was coming and going. The property was lovely and view was amazing! We had everything we needed for a comfortable stay.

Okay, we travel as a family quite often using VRBO. This was by far the most amazing place that my husband and I have stayed in at least 10 years. There are no words to describe the amazing views from the deck, the lodging and amenities are impeccable, it is a short drive from all necessary conveniences. The property manager was delightful and answered all of our questions. We cannot wait to go back!

James had Elle meet us at the airport to find the house which was very helpful because the GPS stops before you make it to the house. Elle was wonderful and gave us a lot a great information about the island like places to go, things to do and restaurants. When I did have a question she was very quick with a response. The home was gorgeous, the views have to be seen with your own eyes. We made so many of our friends and family jealous by sending daily pictures through social media accounts..lol we loved going to bed each night with the breeze coming through all of the windows and the sounds of the creatures of the night. We had coffee every morning on the large deck while my friend sun bathed (very secluded), we also enjoyed using the hot tub nightly (I'm really thinking about getting one for my home now). James thought of everything you would need to feel right at home, full kitchen with supplies, supplies to enjoy a day at the beach, sets of robes in both bedrooms...you name it James thought of it. This was my 1st trip to the island and I hope this home is available whenever I come back.

I really enjoy the place. The picture are not really great but when you are on place the house is just amazing with a wonderful view. I recommend it for a little gateway with friends or a small family. The house is in a great area. The only issue I encounter with my friends was the network. Internet outside of the house was not great

This property is nothing short of lspectacular. The house is well decorated, very clean and comfortable. The deck and area you have to soak up the sun and the views and the quiet is perfect. We rented a car. 5-10 minute drive to Christiansted boardwalk. 30 to Frederiksted. We went offshore fishing, snorkeled buck island. Rented a private catamaran from. Swan Charters for a sunset sail. Chilled out on Rainbow Beach. Rented kayaks and had them delivered to the house. Then I made sure to rent a truck not car so that we could get them to the luminescent bay. But do a tour if it's not booked.
This property was so worth it. The owner and property manager were very accommodating and prompt. The island is awesome. We didn't want to leave. Best experience and a much needed recharge. Can't say enough.

Our family loved staying at Villa Tortuga. The porch and the view are spectacular The two bedrooms have modern AC units with remotes. The property is very secure with a privacy gate. Overall our visit to St. Croix was amazing and having this rental was part of that experience. Communication with the owner James was very professional and prompt.

very nice house to stay in. nice hot tub, great view, lots of extra items, wifi was good, outside hose to wash off items, washer and drier was helpful, good parking and centrally located if you have a car. Better instructions for the TV would be nice, but the care taker did help out when we could not figure it out.

We were here for a month. Would recommend. Pros: -Place was absolutely stocked with everything we could ever need (an alcohol collection, sunscreen, a sewing machine… list goes on and on) - really feels like home. -View is even more spectacular in person. -Location is great. -Hot tub is a nice perk. -Property manager is super responsive. -House is well maintained. -Way fewer bugs than most tropical places I’ve lived/visited (property has a lot of small lizards that eat them). Cons (most of these are island-wide issues)-Power outages are common, and the water also shuts off when they occur; the property has a small generator, which helps. Bring a wifi hotspot and have the generator nearby if you’re working remotely during your stay. -No trash pickup - have to take it to the dump yourself. -Water isn’t drinkable - need to pick up at grocery. -AC works great in the bedrooms if you close all the doors/windows, but the rest of the house gets HOT during the day. I set up my home office in the living room and it was brutal at times.Other notes: -The airport is the absolute worst part of the island. Bring your passport to speed up the departure process, and show up 2 hrs early. -Rent a Jeep if you can. The roads are covered with potholes. There’s also some good off-roading on the northwest side of the island. -Restaurants fill up so make reservations. There aren’t many late night options but Nikki’s is a 4 min drive away and is fantastic.
