Q: What are Road Conditions and Access to the property
A: The road to the cabin is 0.3 miles from the paved Marys Lake Road. This section (0.3 miles) is unpaved and a sizeable portion of this road is shared with other properties. Only 60 ft of this road is bumpy. We are working with the neighbors to repair the bumpy portion of the road. We have a Prius C and no problems accessing the property. Quite well cared for property. A lot of stairs which would not be suitable for older guests, but fine for family.

My wife and two small children accompanied me on this trip to Estes Park. I cannot say enough good things about this host. While we were there we had a few questions, and the host was incredibly responsive and timely. The cabin had all that we needed, and I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a getaway in Estes Park. The views were also amazing as well as the wildlife!

Pinecone cottage is about 5 minutes to the Park and about 5 minutes to downtown Estes. There is a great view from the deck and we saw deer and heard elk bugling! The cottage was very clean. The owners let us a large welcome basket and thoughtfully supplied drinking water (the cottage has well water that is slightly yellow but doesn’t have any off taste). Overall, a very nice stay!

This was the best VRBO we ever booked. Location was perfect right outside Estes on a hill with mountain views. Cabin was clean, everything worked, and our host Janet provided great coffee and snacks. The road to RMNP was down the street. Loved having coffee in the morning and cocktails at night on the deck. Elk and deer passed right through the property. We cannot say enough good things about this property, our trip and the host!

We are friends that take a trip together each year. I’ve been to Estes Park many times and this is the first time at this cabin. I would rent it again in a heartbeat. It was clean, well equipped, spacious, and comfortable. It’s a quick drive to town and to RMNP. The owners were very helpful and honest about access. There are stone steps from parking up to a regular staircase. If you have mobility issues this could be a bit difficult, but they show this in property description so it wasn’t a surprise. The views are fabulous and we spent mornings and evenings on the large deck. Pay close attention to the directions the first time getting to the house. After that it’s a breeze. Perfect getaway in the mountains.

We had a wonderful time at the Pinecone Cottage. It was very close to the entrance to the national park and to Estes Park. The cottage was very clean and the perfect size for our family of four. It had everything that we needed. I would definitely recommend staying here!

My family had a great experience staying at the Pinecone Cottage. The property was very clean and had all the necessities for a week long stay with a bonus of snacks upon arrival! The location was just what we wanted because offered privacy from neighbors and gorgeous mountain views while only being a short driving distance to Estes Park and RMNP. We loved waking up and seeing a family of mule deer from the front porch every day. We even saw a herd of elk and two large hawks from the porch! Overall, we were very happy with our stay and would 100% recommend this cottage to others.

From the all over privacy to the views to the welcome basket, this cabin far exceeded every expectation! We would highly recommend this home to anyone wanting to stay near the park entrance & downtown Estes…you can’t beat the location! This place is top notch and we can’t wait to come back. We’ve been to Estes many times and this cabin by far checks every box. Thank you for sharing your lovely place with us.

Our stay, 2 couples, was a pleasant one. The welcome basket of treats and cold bottles of water in fridge was great. Wi-Fi was good, kitchen was well appointed, and beds were comfy. We loved how close we were to RMNP entrances. All instructions and descriptions were accurate and helpful. Since the cabin is built on the mountainside, it has several steps inside and out. And the second bedroom is in the upstairs loft with good privacy. Note the second bathroom is off the kitchen and has nice shower. Had an elk look in the kitchen window!

Great location and lovely cabin!
5.0 / 5.0
We arrived to a very clean and welcoming home, complete with a fridge full of water and a welcome basket full of snacks. The Cottage is just like the photos and did not disappoint. We saw a heard of Elk walk through the hill below us on our first day and saw chipmunks, rabbits & humming birds most days.
We experienced temps below freezing at night & 90 degrees during the day, but we were never uncomfortable. The Blankets & furnace kept us warm at night and the air flow with the windows open kept us cool and comfortable on the hot days.
The views from the deck were amazing, and we sat outside to enjoy them almost every day. The mountains changed daily & the view of Estes Park was cool to see. Even with a Full Moon, the stars were amazing at night from the Deck.
The Cottage felt secluded because you are on a hill and made you feel like you were far away from the city. But, the park entrance is very close and we left the Cottage 15 minutes prior to our timed entry time, and had to pull over and wait a few minutes because we got there so quick! Getting to Estes Park is the same, you could be at any restaurant in town in less than 10 minutes.
As others have noted in their reviews, the road to the Cottage is dirt and little rough in spots. The drive to the Cottage is a little daunting, but the Hosts directions helped. I would advise that your first trip to the Cottage be in the daylight if you can, and also take a look at the arial view on Google Maps. After you make the trip once it’s a snap.
Just like the photos show, there is a small stone path that leads to the stairs up to the deck and to the entrance door. Be aware that you will be making trips up a path that you will NOT be able to “roll” anything on. The driveway is dirt, and the stone path and stairs will cause you to “carry” everything up into the Cottage. Not a problem for me, but wanted to give everyone a heads-up.
The Cottage kitchen was well stocked with most things you would need. The beds were comfortable the towels were plush, the showers were hot and had plenty of pressure.
When needed, our contact with the host via text was quick and easy and they were very friendly and responsive.
We enjoyed our time at the Cottage and would definitely stay there again if we ever come back. If you want a comfortable place to stay, with great views and close to town and the Park, we definitely would recommend the Pinecone Cottage.

Our stay at Pinecone Cabin was fabulous! Perfect for two couples or a couple and two children. The main floor has master with two queens in the same room, a Huge bath with jetted tub, full kitchen, dining, and living room. The second bath with shower , toilet and sink is next to the kitchen. The view and quiet surroundings are astounding and only 3 min. to town. The upstairs also has two queen beds arranged foot to foot. We never neededA/C as the nights cooled off . We spent a lot of time on the deck overlooking the town with outstanding Mountain View’s. I cannot say enough good about this cabin! Such a perfect place to stay for our 5 day adventure into RMNP. We could only enter the park between 2-4 but found that late afternoon time to be just perfect as the days were quite hot. We hiked to BearLake and Alberta Falls one day. The next we hiked to Nymph, Dream. And Emerald lakes. We also drove the trail ridge in the evening and found tons of wildlife! A perfect house for our fun filled vacation.

Pinecone Cottage
This place was perfect. It was very well-kept and had Wifi, but rustic enough and the dirt road is a nice touch too. And the view is incredible, looking down at Estes Park and The Stanley Hotel (where they filmed some movie awhile back). The entrance to RMNP was only 3 miles away. We had no issues but Janet seemed very responsive and wanted to be sure we enjoyed our stay.

A picturesque and beautiful cabin on a mountain.
The cabin was exceptionally clean, and the host even provided a "welcome basket" filled with treats, as well as a folder including many menus of several local restaurants. The view was amazing: one afternoon we saw no less than 25+ elk about 100 yards down the mountain from out deck! The pantry included items that many cabins do not supply. All in all, a memorable trip, and we would not hesitate to return to this cabin in the future.

Pinecone Cottage
We enjoyed our stay at Pinecone Cottage. The house was clean and roomy and the views from the deck were beautiful. Most of the household and other items we needed were readily available. The owners were responsive to any needs we had throughout the process. A good experience overall.

The property was quite comfortable for a group of 4. It was nicely designed and decorated and had all the expected amenities. The driveway up takes a few times to get used to.

Stunning!
We rented this property because of the view and boy did we get a wonderful view. Mountains mountains and mountains. Secluded, spacious, comfortable well stocked cabin, very clean. We could not have asked for more. Because it was extra warm the week we were there, Mr. Ali even stopped and brought an air cooler for us. Wonderful hosts, wonderful cabin.

Excellent Property!
This was an exceptional place to stay. There are so many positives it is hard to list them all. The property has a wonderful view of the mountains and a beautiful deck to sit out on in the mornings and evenings. The cabin is very comfortable and had everything we needed and more. The host provided items like soap, dish soap, laundry detergent, salt/pepper/seasonings, cooking supplies, and even bottled water! You have everything you need to cook your meals. The rooms were very comfortable and provided us with sound sleep at night. If I had to list a negative, it would be the bumpy ride up the compact dirt road to the cabin. There are quite a few potholes and bumps, but we had a truck so it wasn't too terrible. Just take it slow and it is fine. There is also some road noise when sitting out on the deck, but you can't hear any of that inside the cabin. I reached out to the host twice and each time response was immediate. We can tell they take very good care of the property and want to make sure their guests are happy and comfortable. We would highly recommend this place to anyone wanting to visit the Estes Park area. You can't beat the location (outside the hustle and bustle of the busy town) and convenience to being so close to everything fun to do there. And believe me, there are a ton of fun things to do in this town and the surrounding area!

This was a GREAT vacation
The only potential hard spot would be coming to the cabin in the dark, it could be hard to find. That being said we arrived in the day light and figured it out. In fact it’s location is perfect. Accessible to Estes Park and the RMNP while still having a remote feel. This will be our go to should we travel to Estes Park again. Our stay was excellent and the week in the mountains was wonderful. Thanks for sharing your cabin with us! Rick & Susan

Perfect
Perfect trip! The pictures don’t do the house justice. Super cute, lots of room to move around. Close enough to town to get to the grocery store or RMNP but still far enough away to enjoy the scenery and stars. Very peaceful and great views. Home owners were very quick to respond. Hated to leave.

Great stay!
A very nice property in a great location - just far enough from town to be sooooo quiet, yet only a few minutes to RMNP. And the views...what can I say? Spectacular! It fully met our expectations. Great communication from the owner.
The cabin was very clean including sparkling clean bathrooms. Thanks for sharing your beautiful home with us!

Serene cottage experience
Pinecone Cottage was such a tranquil, cozy place to relax and kick back after hiking and playing out in the frigid temps! The views of the Rockies are beautiful. Our hosts were very communicative and thoughtful. Special touches like complimentary snacks were very much appreciated. The cabin was very clean and well stocked. Estes is just a few minutes drive away and so is the entrance to RMNP. We cannot wait to come back!

Enjoyed our stay
It was a very convenient experience. Enjoyed our stay. It was as advertised.
Had a nice turn around for the driveway.
The lock box was a bit difficult with it being so high.

Great home base for Rocky Mountain Park
Home was nice and clean and the location excellent, no more than a mile or two to the main gate of Rocky Mountain Park. A little tricky to find but the directions were good. Only issue we had was that it sits a few hundred yards from a major Estes Park road so there is considerable vehicle noise.
