My husband and I loved the cozy beach cottage apartment for our OBX getaway. It had everything to make our stay comfortable. Linda was a fabulous hostess as well. The location is also perfect as it’s close to stores and restaurants. Highly recommend this property!

All wood interior, small but functional kitchen, a half a block to the beach, a mile to a life guard beach, walking distance to restaurants. What's not to like.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Skipper. The location was amazing and although dated, everything was clean, comfortable, and in working order (except for the outdoor shower and sink, but no big deal. We just rinsed off in the hose).

So many great things to say about this property. 1) The hosts were fast response and very helpful and terrific communicators. 2) The location is great. You can walk down to the beach. 3) The beds were super comfortable. I got great night's sleep, and you can even hear the waves of the ocean. Will stay here again.

Nice quiet beach town.

Exactly as presented online and exactly what I was looking for. Great location, close to beach, shops and restaurants. I hope to return next spring.

Property was exactly as described. All basic needs meet wonderfully. The house was clean, bed comfortable, good hot water, great air unit. Not one complaint at all. The Property being just a very short stoll to the beach was a plus. While we were here the tide stayed high (just had a very stroms come through and more churning in the ocean) so we either went to the point to have a "beach" to sit on or hung out on the steps that cross over to what is normally the beach by the house. The house is right by the light house so a lot of things to do and beach acesses to go to. I'm sure we will return!

Cute place, as advertised.

Property was private, neighbours were quiet, beach was very close. Great place to stay and unwind.

This apt. was just right for my husband and me. The beds were very comfortable. The couch in the living room is a futon. It leans back a bit but pillows did help. We did not use the kitchen except for frig and sink, but it seemed to have all that was needed to cook. It is close to the beach! We would stay there again.

It's well represented. Clean and super functional.

Everything was just as listed! Very clean with comfortable beds and excellent location. I highly recommend the Skipper!

We really enjoyed our stay at the Skipper Buxton cottage. The online photos give an accurate representation of what the place is like. It's cozy and clean. I found the couch in the living are to be more comfortable than expected, so that was a win. The beds were also quite comfortable! We found the outdoor shower to be a wonderful bonus! Lots of how water and plenty of privacy. Location was ideal for my kiteboarding trip. I would come back.
Thanks!

There are pros and cons regarding this place. Pros: very close to the beach ( about three minutes of slow walking distance), very close to surfboard rentals, Natural Art Surf Shop has very affordable price $10 a day for 8 foot long board, not too far from Cockeyed Clam Restaurant, food is simple but tasty.
Cons: The location and surroundings creates mixed feelings. It’s not too bad but I would think twice to take my family if my kids were not grown ups by now. The biggest disappointment I have was a huge rusty stain in the bathroom sink and dirty drain hole in the bathtub. The design and furniture are very minimalistic but I don’t complain. It would be nice to have at least small bar of soap and toilet paper in the bathroom but I guess price dictates the quality.

Property was very clean and well kept. Hosts were great. Close to the beach. Close to dining and fishing. Highly recommend.

Neal & Linda were the most hospitable hosts. My trip was a 4 day family outing with 2 uncles. We were fortunate in that our hosts stayed in the same building during our visit & they were extremely helpful with any basic needs or questions that we had. Place is quaint, super clean with nice bedrooms. Location is quiet with access to nice restaurants & shops. Highly recommend a breakfast & an order of steamed shrimp @ Diamond Shoals!! Conner’s grocery is also nearby for any basic needs.
Looking forward to a return trip.

Absolutely loved our stay , had everything we needed ❤️ We definitely would stay here again !!!

Cozy launchpad for beach adventures all over the Outer Banks, and with a kitchen suitable for cooking a small Thanksgiving dinner.

Very nice. Really liked the classic paneled walls. Look forward to staying there again

I had never experienced a VRBO before, and so I had no expectations. Here I am, with my daughter and grandson, and we're hoping for an excellent vacation in a place that's easy to access--it was--and in a great location--it was.
When it comes to hotels, I look for a satisfactory trip, with a roof overhead and preferably in a decent location. This felt like a home! There were so many little special touches, like the dish drainer and variety of dishes and large plug-in fan (my daughter claimed this and never let me use it!) and the broom and dust pan to keep our new home clean. And how about that ROKU television on the wall so we can cast anything we wanted from our devices. My grandson realized just how much he loved Spongebob this week.
Every morning, we'd take a walk, sometimes down to the beach, sometimes to a local store, frequently to the nearby Diamond Shoals restaurant for an excellent breakfast. Seriously, we were close to absolutely everything.
Easy check in, easy check out, and very clear instructions for both. Strong recommendation, and I would stay there again!

This is all you need at the beach for a quick getaway.

This was the perfect place to relax and be right by the beach with many great restaurants nearby

Short walk to beach, shower
The place was great, we have stayed here before and knew what to expect. The were plenty cups, plates, utensils, dish detergent, toilet paper, pillows, towels, salt and pepper, microwave, pots. Can openers. How ever the beach was awful! This time they were working on the beach, there were big pipes, and the sand was harsh (too much shells that hurt to walk on) this made a steep beach terrible for the kids and the hatteras light house was close, meaning you can’t go up.

Loved it
We loved the location and charm of the place. You can see the lighthouse from the back room. Nice short walk to the shoreline.

Perfect cottage
Nice cottage. Very clean, simple, everything we needed for our stay. Owner very responsive with answers to questions we had. Close enough to the beach and a short walk to shops and restaurants. Definitely will stay here again.

Great location
Hadn't stayed in Buxton before but loved the location. Unit was super clean but could have used a little better lighting in the bathroom but if you're not putting on makeup then no worries!

Our first trip to OBX. This was the perfect stay for us. Very short walk to the beach and within short walking distance to several restaurants. Property was clean, quiet, and good location. Already thinking of when we can come back.

It’s was perfect for us two old guys who fished all day and night and just needed a clean and comfortable place to sleep. Owners were friendly and helpful and it is centrally located for fishing. It’s really close to the point. Would stay again for similar trip

The apartment itself was very nice. Had everything we would need for our stay. Was a 1 minute walk to the beach. Adding in a full-length mirror somewhere would be my only suggestion.
The beach is not what most people think of as the typical beach. It comes right up to the houses onshore, especially during high tide. I heard others complaining about this, but being familiar with The OBX was not surprised. Just be aware when looking at this rental - the beach you can walk to is not a long and winding sandy area some of the time, though low tide does provide a little more of a "beach"

Everything is as advertised. Beds are comfortable and everything was clean. The walk to the beach is easy and short. The deck is nice, but being that it is a duplex, you are right next to your neighbors’ deck space separated only by a half a wall. This was not a problem for us, but might bother some if privacy is an issue. Location is nice that it is off the beaten path, but it is aways away from some attractions that you might like in Nags Head/Kill Devil Hills. To me, the non crowded beach and less people in the area was worth it. We very much enjoyed our stay!
