Great place to stay in! Hosts very attentive to your needs, fresh fruits you can pick yourself every day.
BBQ works well, and has a side too for making breakfast. Only downside is the neighbouring dogs that bark. Other then that, great place!

This was the best place we have ever stayed in Hawaii! The location was great. So much peacefulness and solitude. It was close to so many great things to see. Our host was incredible. We will be back.

We had a lovely stay at this beautiful cottage. The amenities were just what we needed in Hilo and the location was a great base to Mauna Kea and Volcano national park. The one thing to be aware is that this property relies on off grid energy sources. We did not have any issues but only found out on arrival that a hair dryer would drain the batteries. Cooking/boiling water is through the propane bbq. The internet worked perfectly fine! Even with the rain there were enough covered spaces to shelter and just relax.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this cute cottage. The host was kind and responsive and thought of everything to make her guests comfortable. Would definitely stay again if we are in the area.

This rental was to celebrate 40 year anniversary. We’ve been to Bid Island 6x. We will come back to this little gem located in southern outskirts of Hilo. You need to rent a car any time you go to Big Island. This property is semi-private. There are residents around you, but plenty of trees and foliage so you don’t see them.. We loved the privacy/security of bedroom/powder room in the actual cottage. The queen bed was really comfortable. Loved the completely roofed outdoor spaces, shower, kitchen, and sitting areas You will hear chickens and see tropical birds. Cute green lizards hang around outside areas. Bring slippers because no shoes or sandals allowed in cottage. There are a few dvd’s, but bring some of your favorites; wi-fi is great. The Hawaiian hospitality from hosts. 4 stars.

We had some of the sweetest and juiciest fruit from the orchard everyday! I was surprised that I could not use a hair dryer but otherwise Rich and Merlyn were easy to reach, the rental was peaceful, close enough to go to attractions/Hilo but far enough to seem like you were in your own piece of paradise. Out door shower and kitchen was different for us as we are from Canada but water pressure was great and the weather was perfect. I would recommend misquote repellent as it is lush and be surprised by the geckos that jump out of no where but are so cute.

We didn't want a resort experience for our Big Island trip and we got what we were looking for. Merlyn was very helpful and the cottage had everything we needed, including privacy. The outdoor kitchen was definitely a bonus. We picked oranges on the property every morning for fresh squeezed orange juice. Close proximity to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and the quaint town of Pahoa where we drove The Red Road.

A beautiful little cotrage with amazing fruit trees. We loved the connection with the outdoors though the outdoor kitchen and shower. The hosts left a bowl of the best fruit ever that was from thier trees. The hosts were responsive to any questions we had. This is a place that we will reflect on with fond memories for years to come.

Had a great stay at this lovely property. The little cottage is perfect for two and the Hawaii weather makes the outdoor living area so enjoyable . We really loved walking around the garden every morning and picking fruit to make fresh juice . The host were excellent. It was a perfect little vacation .

Our stay was so relaxing and chill. We especially loved the nature of this stay. While the bungalow was a respite, we enjoyed climbing Mauna Kea and hiking to Shipman beach to see the turtles. Hilo has old world charm that beats Kona in our book.

Overall a great stay. The surrounding land is beautiful and there are tons of plants. The outside kitchen and shower were an interesting experience. It was incredibly peaceful.
It is off the grid, so we were warned to conserve energy, but never ran into any problems. The hosts provide a lot of drinking water and are willing to bring more.
There were some really persistent roosters? Chickens? Early in the morning somewhere on neighboring property. Otherwise a really cool stay!

We loved our stay at this super peaceful cottage. The mostly outdoor living was the best! Listening to the rain at night was so relaxing. We had a great time walking around the orchard and trying to figure out what all the fruit trees are. The location was very convenient to HVNP and Hilo.

My partner and I had a lovely stay. Very private and relaxing, loved the outdoor shower and outdoor kitchen and lounging space. Really wonderful place to get away from it all! Lots of fresh fruit from the many fruit trees!! Great convenient location too! Would love to come back!

We enjoyed our stay at this lovely off-grid cottage. We loved picking papayas and star fruit each morning for our breakfast. The location gives plenty of privacy and has many nice touches. We also learned a lot about the different technologies that permits being off grid, such as solar power and battery storage, propane tanks and gas powered tankless water heaters and the need to limit high wattage items. Very cool! The hosts were responsive and addressed our needs while also being mindful of providing is with space and privacy. Mahalo!

We loved the property and enjoyed every minute of our stay . It is clean and has everything you need , even cooler and ice to keep your lunch fresh, while we were exploring nice places on the island 😊.
Thank you , Merlyn and Richard for organising all so well!

The property was very cute and nice. We enjoyed the outdoor shower and living areas. It's a bit of an odd location and not super convenient to food but overall it worked for our short visit. Thank you!

We had a wonderful time! The cottage was super clean and cozy! just the right size for the two of us. The fruit trees made a fabulous back drop for our breakfast each morning.
The kitchen dining area had everything we needed for our week stay. The outdoor shower was a blessing for sure, it only took one shower to get used to the idea of being outside AMAZING! Would recommend to everyone but make sure its not too booked so we can come back!

Our stay in Hilo was perfect. The small cottage with lots of outdoor space was wonderful. Even in the rain we were able to enjoy the outdoors. Our host was wonderful and I would like to thank her for sharing her fruit farm with us.

Nice little place. Great landscaping the front with gazebo. Bunch of fruit trees in the back. The hosts leave some fresh fruits grown on the property for you. Good hosts, good place, not too far of a drive from Hilo or Volcano.

This property is very nice, the grounds are beautiful and we spent a lot of time sitting at the gazebo. There are LOTS of lizards about and many birds. Neighbors on either side have dogs, so if you don't like barking or can't tune it out, this might not be for you. As a dog owner, this didn't bother us. The hosts are very friendly and nearby if needed but unobtrusive. The bed is super comfy.
There are nearby hikes, a great Thai and Taco place too! The Keeau humane society is close too in case you want to take a shelter dog out for a day!
Would definitely stay here again.

The location was great! Close to the volcanoes and close all of the falls! Nice little cottage for a couple getaway and I especially love the landscaping, makes it feel very private. Loved our stay and would definitely recommend if you’re on the Hilo side!

Very cute & small cottage on big property in rural part of Paradise Park. Very nice covered sitting area with a hammock. Good Wi-fi connection. No coffee machine tho. Very limited inside area for clothes & other personal items. Had to get used to outside shower. Open but covered kitchen area. Great place for getting away from it all...

We loved this spot! Beautiful landscaping and cool fruit trees! Very relaxing and I loved the outdoor shower! Property managers were great!

We absolutely enjoyed our stay. The beautiful surroundings and peaceful environment, plus efficient amenities were perfect. We enjoyed the outdoor shower after a long day, and slept well in the comfortable bed. Internet was strong - we were able to do some work before enjoying a day out. The outdoor kitchen was impressive and efficient. Plus we enjoyed the different sitting areas. We will fondly remember this stay for a while, and would enjoy returning.

The property was gorgeous, just incredible beauty. The cottage itself is awesome, love the whole thing, the kitchen, bedroom, bathroom and the outside shower was cool. Well stocked, peaceful.
Definitely felt like "real" Hawaii, which is what we were looking for.
The only issue, and not really a big one, roosters are kinda noisy near the area, but other than that, you get nature beauty and outdoor living. Would love to stay there again.
4.8
Cottage and property was pleasant and private. I loved feeling tucked in my own personal paradise with just enough amenities for comfort and relaxation.
4.8
This property is a home away from home. The owners are kind and helpful but not intrusive. It’s a place to relax, unplug and unwind.

Enjoyed our stay at this lovely property. My boyfriend and I appreciated how peaceful it was. We loved cooking in the semi-outdoor kitchen. Such a perfect romantic getaway!

Adorable cottage with indoor/outdoor living. You won't know you're off grid, the systems are flawless. If you are looking to have space and privacy this is a little gem. Plan your outings around the rush hour traffic as it can get really busy on the roads. A couple nights is enough to visit the sites on this side of the island.
4.8
The property is as advertised. The roosters (they are everywhere on the island) are up early. We loved the adventure of being on a property in an orchard and enjoyed the fresh star fruit and papaya! When we return to the Big Island, we would certainly stay here again!
4.8
What a beautiful property and wonderful way to spend a couple of days on the Big Island. Away from everything loud and busy, but close enough to access the airport in Hilo, shopping or Hawaiian Volcanoes without trouble. We even canceled our plans one day to just rest on the property. Wonderful hosts had everything we needed, good communication and lots of nice details to make us feel welcome. We would love to stay again.

Favorite place I stayed in Big Island! Loved it more then the Outrigger! Nice little cottage, very clean, beautiful yard with lots of fruit trees and amazing plants.
Whenever the shower get cold, just turn it off and wait until the pump stop running. Then you will have warm water again.
Loved everything about it but my favorite was the outdoor kitchen, outdoor shower and the hamac.
Picture does not do it justice, seriously just book this place!!!

This is a cute little cottage with adorable decor and amazing landscaping/fruit trees. We had a great time sitting under the stars listening to the many bird and insect sounds. The cabin is sustainable so be prepared to use little light, not have an oven, and use an outdoor shower that takes a while to get warm and doesn't stay that way for long (the shower is still private). This could potentially be an easily solved problem but we forgot to ask the manager about it while we were there..

Very clean. Beautiful location. Excellent host.

This was such a great place to stay! The fresh fruit was amazing and the geckos were so entertaining. Location was about 30 minutes from Hilo and 2 hours from Kona. It was quiet of people. The frogs and chickens definitely make noise all night. Unfortunately so did the neighborhood dogs. Hot during the day but the evening was nice and cool. We slept with the windows all open and had no problem. Shower was alright. Definitely an experience. Owner got a new tankless heater and I think it still needs some fine tuning. They also upgraded the battery system and are planning on moving the solar panel. We didn't have any problems with electricity and we watched a movie every night. The gazebo is amazing to sit outside in. Beautiful views. The kitchen had all necessities and was definitely part of the experience. All in all this was such a lovely stay, we loved it!

Cool little place, great to hang out at and rest up for your adventures.
