First trip to Durango and first stay at the Bucking Mule. We loved the location (8 blocks from Main Street), and a hiking trail only a couple of blocks! We especially loved the outdoor patio which was where we enjoyed a light breakfast & coffee every morning! We went to 3 different hiking trails while there as well as really enjoyed the pubs downtown. We will be back for another week or maybe two weeks next time.

We have stayed here before and the enclosed patio is great for our two corgis. The only complaint I have is the bathroom sink...which is fashionable but difficult to use and the faucet only has a dribble of water which is not hot at all.

We called the property management company because there were 2 full size trucks and a large trailer parked in the tiny parking area where we were supposed to have a designated spot. They said that the other group was allowed 1 spot and we were allowed 1 spot and they would straighten out the issue. They didn't do anything and we ended up working with the other group who refused to move either truck or trailer. It ended up being an inconvenience that made this unit not worth the price for us. We won't be back.

This was a great place for my wife and I to stay with our dog. Good location and close to everything we had planned while visiting Durango. Room in private courtyard for dog to run around and explore. Rain made it a little difficult as there was no grass in courtyard just stone and dirt.

Cute and cozy stay was perfect for our spring break getaway. Short walk to breakfast and groceries.

We loved staying here - so cozy, beautifully decorated with every amenity one could dream of! The location is perfect - minutes from downtown in a beautiful neighborhood. The enclosed yard and lovely patio were perfect for our dog who was free to just explore. We will definitely recommend it and hope to return soon.

Our stay was rough the first night but pleasant the rest of the stay. The big hanging tea lights over the front porch were very bright and we couldn't find a switch to turn off. The second night we just unplugged them. The smoke detector in the laundry kept chirping so we took the battery out. Bed was comfy, kitchen was easy to cook in, and the yard was nice for our dog.

Beautiful location and neat surprise amenities (horseshoes!). Would stay here again

Such a lovely lil space! Had to drive around the block a few times just to make sure I was in the right spot but that may have just been me! Very clean! I took advantage of the bath, so cool! Owners were very responsive when I reached out! Super nice and welcoming! The patio area was nice too! If you’re in the area, check out Raider Ridge Cafe across the street, great food and the owner was awesome to talk to! I’ll for sure stay again when I’m in the area!

We loved how the house opened up to the backyard! Very clean and a 3 minute walk to a cute market. Great loction to town - we had our bikes and rode into town amd down to a lovely trail alonh the Animas river. Will definitely stay again.

So much better than a hotel or typical unit because of the patio and yard. Inside was comfy, well-furnished- but what we particularly appreciated was the private patio and yard- the perfect place for a tranquil breakfast (lattes from nearby coffee shop) and to work; the patio location made up for the fact that we had to unexpectedly do some work! Host was very responsive about any questions we had before and during the stay. Our ancient dog loved being able to wander around.

a little hard to find (no address visible from the street. the place is very nice and the patio was great for our corgis as well as for us. If this was my property the only thing I would change is the bathroom sink which is so high that simplly washing one's face is a chore. Virtually everything one could want is stocked in the unit. We will probably try to stay here again next year.

Immediately responsive helpful owner. Lovely tranquil-feeling space. Very well equipped for easy meal prep - & great Natural Foods Coop just across the street to buy all the fixings. Walkable to downtown & "Riverwalk." Worked wonderfully well for my husband & I. Highly recommend.

Private courtyard, dog friendly, clean and comfortable cottage, romantic tub, easy parking. Very conveniently located. Restaurants, shopping, and activities within walking distance. Great place to stay while exploring Durango!

At Bucking Mule, Holly has created a lovely home away from home. It is nicely and comfortably appointed and thoughtfully supplied. The fenced in yard and patio were perfect for playing with my German shepherd and we enjoyed strolls in the neighborhood. Do not be deterred by small refrigerator and lack of stove/oven. With grocery stores nearby it was easy to pick up supplies every couple of days and the kitchen is stocked with cookware, utensils, microwave, and an easy-to-use two-burner hot plate. I was able to fix tasty yet simple breakfasts and dinners every day of my stay. I highly recommend Holly and look forward to another visit.

Second time at the property and it's been perfect both times. Great yard for the dogs, close to downtown, and really comfortable. Thank you!! Had a great New Year's weekend.

Accommodations were just like pictures and very clean and tidy with great decor and excellent amenities…very cozy and comfortable. The small enclosed, private yard was such a plus for our accompanying pups to be able to utilize and enjoy as needed. Would definitely stay at The Bucking Mule again and highly recommend!

Wonderful property! Perfect for our getaway to visit Durango and loved that we could have our cat with us! Hosts were great! Very well managed and maintained property, comfortable, clean and adorable! Really appreciate the cleaning protocols! Loved the soaking tub! Loved walking to downtown! We came for the Durango BluesTrain which was the finale of our visit and it was awesome! Durango was awesome and so many fun things to do!! We look forward to and hope to come back and staying here again or one of their other fun properties! Thank you Holly and Ben!

The property was largely as pictured and was very clean. They use a very strong air freshener somewhere (that I could not find) that smells like lemongrass. I am very smell sensitive so this might not bother other people. I did get used to it but at first it was very strong. The courtyard is very private which was great for morning coffee in the cool summer air. The studio was definitely better appointed than the yard and the shed for storage is a little creepy. The bed is good and very comfortable. Make sure to check that the shower head is focused correctly or it will spray water all over the floor and the tile step you use to get out of making is extremely slippery and a big fall risk. The driveway is VERY hard to see and you can't see the house from the road so we had to drive around the block a couple of times. The parking is also tight if the other spot is occupied and it makes it more like a 7 point turn rather than a 3 point turn. I suggest trying to park as far to the right as possible to give you some room to try to turn around. If you're in a truck or anything large than a Honda CR-V then just park across the street. We took a lovely walk with our dogs in the neighborhood and that was lovely. But the studio is too far (for us) to walk to Downtown. I would say it's about 15-20 blocks. For the cost (we booked just a couple of weeks ahead so there were few options) I would have liked to have stayed someplace with more space or closer to Downtown Durango. If we didn't have to have our dogs with us we would have stayed in a nice hotel for the money we spent per night. Overall a good experience but seems expensive for some (minor) maintenance issues and to not be downtown.

Convenient walking distance to all things Durango.
When booking didn't receive promised information and had to request it be resent. Didn't get entry instructions upon arrival and had to call all three contact numbers for access. Thankfully we were able to get the access code and directions to the unit from the owner's mother/assistant. The owner did call later that evening and was very cordial. Overall a nice place though communication could have been better.

Within walking distance of historic downtown including shopping and restaurants. Our stay was awesome and can’t wait to visit again!

No checkin info until I called host. Listing not completely accurate it's a long walk to main street. Several negative aspects: no dishwasher, yet you're expected to wash your dishes. This is a bit disconcerting given the lingering covid concerns.10 am checkout time is too early, even hotels give you to 11. For the studio the parking is head in and then back out onto a very busy street, where the locals are zooming along. There is a dorm room fridge with a useless freezer. On the plus side, the patio is great, the fenced back yard is also great for the dog, the place is very private and pretty quiet, well appointed and includes coffee! Overall though not worth the exorbitant price.

Convenience and Comfort
The property is as described. The host was very responsive to the one issue we reported. The property is decorated and built for a spa-like experience with nice soaking tub, art, and small touches. The outdoor area is nice for hanging out however the road noise can be loud at times but overall is not a major issue. The location is a plus with easy access to the Horse Gulch trail system, Ft Lewis college skysteps, Natural food coop, local breakfast place, and a 7-block walk to town, The only inconvenience is there is a shared laundry room with a door next to the bed, connecting the front rental, and it can be noisy if they are doing laundry late at night although the host asks everyone to be respectful and only use it between 8 AM and 8 PM. We asked the other renters to honor that and all was good after that. Overall a great place for a single or couple wanting a relaxing and fun get away!

Excellent experience. Nice clean studio in an outstanding location. Within walking distance to downtown. Only downside is the small driveway is difficult to use. We parked across the street to avoid it

house was nice and convenient to everything we needed. Thanks!

Lovely setting and attention to detail was excellent. Parking is a little tricky, especially since I drove a pickup and parking is tight with rose bushes making it difficult to get out. I parked on the street the second night since people in front property parked in the turn around area (they had two vehicles). Not the owners fault. I'd highly recommend this place, even though a bit pricey when all taxes and fees added in. Owners very helpful when I contacted them about the door code; they were very accommodating and wanted my stay to be a good one. It was.

This studio is very well appointed and perfectly set up. It is a short walk to Main Street and many great restaurants and shopping. Hiking and biking trails also very convenient to access. We appreciated the shed to store our bikes and the patio to relax in. We would definitely stay again.
