We had a wonderful time in Bayfield, we did many of the attractions at Madeline Island, the apostle Island Cruise. We had great food nice outdoor patio at the Bayfield Inn.
Regarding the property we were not aware that it was on such a steep hill for walking up and down it was it was a bit of a challenge. We also were quite surprised by the narrow, steep stairway to go down to our place the toilet in the bathroom, you had to step up to get to the toilet and the toilet is not a raised toilet so I guess that should be clearly stated in, the description. The pictures and description made it look as though you could sit out on a spacious patio and overlook the lake and just kind of relax, that was not the case we were lower level there were grass clippings on the windows not a good view from our room and the common area upstairs was really small compared to the pictures Listed a continental breakfast I felt that the continental breakfast was very limited. I mean it was yogurt muffin & juice. There was no fruit of any kind, to call it a continental breakfast was a bit of a stretch.

Very fine accomodations. Perfect, to the last detail, including professional, well organized customer service. Beautiful home, with generous breakfasts

We found this property to be very comfortable, as well as allowing a gret view of the Bay and harbor area. Pleasant breakfast area w/ nice amenities, an attentive owner to share Bayfield info, and books, art and an historic atmosphere to allow you to rest, relax, and yet have fun! We'll stay again. We were in town for a wedding and this was the perfect place for my husband and I. Right in Bayfield, walking distance to just about everything you could need.

The Pilot House is close to the water and the downtown businesses and restaurants. It was our first trip to Bayfield and the Pilot House was perfect for our 43rd anniversary weekend. We had a lot of fun chatting with Jack before we left. He's a hoot!

The Pilot House was the perfect place for our mini golf vacation. Bayfield is a quaint town. Thanks to Jack for the warm welcome. I would stay here again!

Walking distance to Apostle Islands cruise, Bayfield shops and restaurants. Had use of large common living area with a porch overlooking the city and the harbor. Bed was super comfortable, and the unit was spacious and very clean. We were in the Crew's Quarters which had a unique octagonal design with lots of windows. Navigating the hill on foot was a bit of a challenge for us as senior citizens, but it was good exercise. And if we didn't want to trek it, we could always take our car which was parked just outside the door.

We stayed at the Pilot House for just one night, but we loved its close proximity to downtown Bayfield. The room was great, and on the morning we left, a fox came up to our bedroom window, which was a delightful surprise. We appreciated the easy check-in process, especially since we arrived late at night, and the continental breakfast available in the morning was a nice touch.

We had a great stay, Jacks home is beautiful and very peaceful. Bayfield is beautiful and full of history. It’s was suppose to rain the whole time we were there but it was sunny and gorgeous out. Thank you Jack for being a great host! It was just what we needed!

It’s a wonderful location, beautiful panoramic views of Lake Superior. Jack is an excellent host. We really enjoyed talking to him. Our only complaint would be that there was a big step up in the bathroom. It was difficult to manage & not very safe. It would be very easy to trip on this in the middle of the night. And the bath towels could have been larger. We loved the Bayside area!

I think the host could have had the coffee on in the morning. Having muffins without coffee was sad.

So close to walk to everything! Has some lake view, even in the basement suite (crew's quarters) Large room. Had bar stools at raised table, but no other chair to sit in. I also would recommend they change to unscented laundry soap for those with sensitivities. But still was a good place to stay.

Jack was excellent in communicating and made us feel welcome. This property is 1 block from the ferry and about 2-3 blocks into town

We loved this place. Spent time on the porch enjoying the view and were shocked the second day when a cruise ship was sitting in front of us. Didn’t use our car the entire time. If the weather would have been bad (it wasn’t) the common areas inside are perfect for relaxing and watching the lake and town below! We highly recommend!

I didn’t realize we had a basement apartment I thought we were up on the main or second floor so we would see the lake better. It’s kind of stinky and musty down in the basement we had to empty the dehumidifier twice a day. But wasn’t horrible. Thanks!

Outstanding B&B in Bayfield in perfect location with beautiful views
Once you make the climb up Jack’s ski hill of a driveway, you can park your vehicle and not have to move it for the rest of the trip. My wife and I exclusively walked/biked to all our destinations including bars, restaurants, shops, and even the ferry to Madeline Island. Jack was a very warm and inviting host and made sure we had everything we needed during our stay. Our suite was professionally cleaned and worked perfectly for our weekend stay. We enjoyed the views from the deck each night we were there as well.
We are already planning our next trip up and will definitely staying here again.

Nice cozy B&B at great location for all that Bayfield had to offer
We had a great weekend staying at the Pilot House B&B. We were out and about in Bayfield, Meyers Beach, Madeline Island throughout most of the weekend, and this was a great location central to everything. We took our vehicle to Madeline Island, but the ferry would have been a very short walk if we hadn't. We were able to walk to several restaurants and shops. The room was clean and comfortable. Jack greeted us when we showed up. We had everything we needed to have a good weekend away from home.

Great location, great room, great stay
The room was clean and just the right size for our needs. The check in process was very easy and we never had any issues while we stayed at the Pilot House. The property itself was lovely and easy to access everything in town. We would definitely stay again if we return to Bayfield!

Excellent Stay
Stayed 1 night at the Pilot House after a day of kayaking the Apostle Islands. Checked in right at 4 and was greeted immediately by Jack (owner). He showed us to our room and gave us some tips of the town for our evening. We enjoyed a bottle of wine and some smoked trout on the balcony overlooking the town of Bayfield and the Lake. Beautiful views from the balcony. A short walk to the water and a stroll along the lake and we were off to bed. In the morning, we were on the hunt for coffee. Very easy to walk the town from the Pilot House. Jack runs a fantastic place and we’ll definitely be back!!

Lovely hotel in a beautiful town
The inn was so nice. All of the public spaces were very clean and inviting. Our room, "Crews Quarters," was in the basement, but we still had windows and didn't feel like we'd been sent "below deck!"
The room was clean and comfortable. The bed and pillows were great. Bathroom was clean and spacious.
We weren't expecting breakfast, but we appreciated the muffins, yogurt and juice that was made available.
Jack was such a friendly host - he gave us a nice tour of the property upon our arrival. Be sure you take advantage of the nice porches with their stunning views of the lake.
Bayfield is small, so even though our location was atop a hill a few blocks from many businesses, it was still very easy to walk wherever we wanted to go. Good restaurants, coffee shops, ice-cream shops, and shopping areas are all fairly close.
I would stay there again if ever I am Bayfield again.

The Pilot House was a great place to stay! It was exactly as advertized. The room was very clean and comfortable. Jack and staff, Clover, were very quick to respond to any request. You really can't go wrong with choosing to stay there. Great views of the harbor and marina from all outdoor spaces too.

Midweek Getaway
Our stay at The Pilot House was so close and only a couple of blocks to all the businesses in Bayfield. We spent a nice evening sitting on the deck and enjoying the nice views of the bay. The food was good. We especially enjoyed Manypenny Bistro. Also enjoyed a relaxing cruise around the Apostle Islands and viewed the spectacular sea caves.

Pilot house
Very nice house. Very clean. Only allowed to use microwave and fridge for ice. Only had paper plates and eating utensils. Disappointed with our breakfast options. Muffin, juice, yogurt. That's it. The television system is a nightmare. If you want to just watch local tv you can't. You either have to subscribe to a streaming service they offer or if you have one your ok. This was not explained to me or even given any information about this. It was figure it out on your own. There was several small signs posted telling you what not to do. Don't use our towels to wash your make up off. Don't flush certain things, we are obviously adults. Felt like I was being scolded without doing anything. We stayed in a basement room. My eye level view waz dirty window with dead grass. The description say's you have this great view of the lake. If your not in the basement. Never even met the owners. Not even a hello. Bayfield is beautiful. But I would not reccomend staying herd

A Home with a View
We loved our time at The Pilot House. The accommodations were very pleasing, spacious and comfortable. The entire home and outside accommodations were lovely. It was very quite and private. Perfect for what we were looking for. Captain Jack was very congenial, fun and helpful. We plan to come back for a longer stay next summer.
