Great place, supportive owners
Over the years my family and I have stayed at many lakefront properties in VT, and Vermont Cottage Amherst was by far the most generously equipped, with everything needed for a fun-filled vacation--a private raft, canoe, kayaks, badminton/volleyball, pingpong--just to name just a few! The owners answered our questions promptly and were flexible about a change in our plans for bringing pets. The setting is ideal for grandparents, parents, and kids.

Okemo ski weekend
In a few, short words, this home exceeded our expectations. We've been traveling to Vermont for decades, and this is the best Vermont-style home to date!
Clean, spacious, with wonderful amenities and attention to detail that made our stay that much more special. The location is very nice - beautiful lake views, and close to both Killington and Okemo mountains.
Would love to stay here again!

Beautiful cottage short drive to Killington Skyeship gondola
CLEAN Beautiful cottage! We've traveled every year(10yrs) for a family/friend ski trip and this by far is the best one yet. The kitchen is stocked with fantastic cookware/utensils/pots & pans etc. And anything extra that you might have forgotten was available and shared. i.e. a band aid, laundry soap, coffee, pantry of cooking spices. After a long day on the slopes we enjoyed a beer by the firepit and then gathered inside around the table for some incredible food & fellowship. The bedrooms were so comfortable and cozy. Getting to Killington Skyeship gondola was piece of cake. Very RELAXING and BEAUTIFUL cottage. A gem on the lake!!!!

Great Lake Cottage
Cottage was in a great location! We enjoyed the lake which was perfect for swimming, paddling and fishing. The house had a lovely, large screened in porch where our group of 9 (2 families) spent a lot of time. It was a very nice summer vacation!

Great NYE Stay!
Alecia's house worked great for our NYE stay with friends! Our group consisted of 5 couples and 2 dogs and there was more than enough space for all of us to fit comfortably. The location of the house–15 minutes from Okemo and 20(ish) from Killington– worked for those who went skiing and tubing. We are thankful to Alecia and her husband for their hospitality!

gorgeous lake vacation
We loved our vacation at the Vermont cottage on Amherst lake. The views from the house were beautiful. The lake was peaceful and had a family of loons to serenade us. The house was clean, comfortable, and well stocked with everything you might need (e.g., ample towels, kitchen supplies, etc.) Excellent place to unwind with many nearby swimming holes, hikes, and sweet towns. The owner was wonderful, accommodating, and responsive.

A piece of paradise
Enjoyed our stay immensely. Nothing was overlooked in this very well organized and clean cottage. The best porch there is. Loved listening to the geese and loons. We will be back next year!

Bigger than it appears in photos. Charming and well stocked with any kitchen item you could want!
This cabin is charming, clean and a total gem. There was more space than needed for our party of ten with one dog. The owner was super accommodating, quick to respond and fun to work with. Our family friends (with kids) and our older relatives all adored the cabin. Peaceful with great views and close to Okemo and Killington. This was a great find and we hope to come back again and again, only reason to not give a great review is we want to be able to get on the schedule in the future so don't want too many more people to know about it. Would be great in the winter (ski, views, gets very cozy warm) and in the summer (water fun, great hikes, volleyball court). We really want to come back, and hopefully sooner than later. Thanks, Alecia'

Very nice property. Even better than the pictures. The first walk through was amazing.
The porch is extra special and where we had so much fun. Easy access to the lake and the kayaks and canoe were so much fun. Endless fishing from the dock and the canoe. We brought a big float where people could just drift around off the dock and swim dock. We were so content at the cottage that we hardly ventured out. The views are so enjoyable that we wished we could come back for the foliage. Our labradors loved the lake and lounging on the porch as well. Ten stars for a home so large that allows dogs and includes boats. And there will never be another porch like the one on Amherst Lake. Well done Alecia!!!

Wow...
I'm a college student who loves to ski and ride, my friends and I make a point to have a getaway every year and ski around vermont. Once we pulled in we knew we were in for a good time, it's completely out of the way, but an easy drive to Killington and Okemo mountain. It's nice and tucked away with plenty of room to just chill. It's a really well decorated place, feels like I'm coming home to moms' house. We found this great room on the second floor that overlooks the lake after you take the wooden panels off and hoist another panel, honestly couldn't imagine sleeping out there in the summer.
This place beats the crud out of any of the other places we've crashed in this half of the state, and we're sure to come back and keep the tradition alive.
P.S. Alecia is the bomb! We only had a problem with he internet and her son came over and got it working. Sorry if we left a mess in the kitchen too! 😅

First I would like to start off by saying Alecia the owner was so sweet to work with & I was so glad that We got to meet her in person.
Her cottage is just adorable an equipped with everything you need plus more.
Great spacious house for a big family & a gorgeous view of the lake right outside the door. My family & I spent our Thanksgiving weekend there & we all feel very grateful that we got to spend time together in the Mountains of VT. (We can't wait to go back).
I promise you will love her home.

Perfect Vacation Rental
This was our second year renting this house and we couldn't have had a better experience! The house has everything we could ever need, everything works, the area is in tip top shape, the communication before and during our stay is informative and thorough. Compared to last year, there have already been improvements to the house...which we were super excited to see when we arrived. It's a wonderful location with a beautiful view--the perfect place to enjoy vacation with family and friends. We can't wait to go back next year! The only reason we would ever look elsewhere to rent is if our group out grows the space!
Thanks for everything!

We made precious memories
We had a small family reunion at this historical lakeside cottage. The place was much larger than we expected and there was plenty of space for all 12 of us. We have some pretty hardcore fishermen in our group so they were not disappointed by Lake Amherst's varying ecosystem. Plenty of fish were caught from bass, rainbow trout, to pike plus more I don't know the names of. The fishermen fished while the kids enjoyed jumping off the floating dock and the rock at the far end of the lake. Some of us enjoyed endless kayaking around the lake and up the river, never to be bored as there was so much wildlife to take in. We saw ducks, geese, painted turtles basking, cranes, osprey, and we heard the loons. Every night was topped off by a game of volleyball, a game of croquet, badminton matches and incredible bon fires in the fire pit. We appreciated all the wood provided. The home itself was clean, well organized, and fully stocked with many amenities; you don't usually get that much with a rental. It's clear the owner does really love this home. We hope to return! Oh, and I miss that big screened in porch. We had a wonderful time.

A Cozy Family Getaway
What a sweet home. We spent the week with our adult children and 2 dogs. Our English Mastiff , who is 11, came with us. Because there are bedrooms downstairs as well as upstairs, Rowan had no trouble finding his way around. The kitchen, while small had everything you could need to make cakes to steaks. The beds were pretty comfortable, but if you are allergic to feathers, bring your own pillow. You are in the wilderness, with access to television, (we watched the Olympics at night), to my tech savvy kids who needed the internet to keep in touch with work and such. The home is well maintained, but keep in mind, it is a lake house and can feel damp. The lake is silty and shallow until you go out a ways, by kayak or canoe, which is provided. Watch out for the enormous snapping turtle. The dock must be near their nest. So cool! Bo, my son's dog loved the lake! There are a pair of loons who give their mournful cry at night. They floating dock was always being used by other folks, but if you ask them to move on, they do.
We loved they volleyball court and had lots of fun playing, although, Rowan would occasionally decide to plant himself in the middle of the court. (He didn't want to be left out). There are great hikes near by and adorable towns with great food and the famous Vermont Country Store. We know this will probably be our last summer with our Rowan, but Alecia's house made it a perfect fair well for him.

Clean, Beautiful, Well equipped, fun for all ages, all season!
Clean, Large enough for loads of people, even two separate families at the same time. Beautiful View.
We went in the spring, and we used the row boat, she has life preservers. The outdoor volley ball court, the gas grills, and charcoal grills were in use. Just an amazing time for everyone! Not to mention the VIEW right on the lake. And also the outdoor fire pit for a fire at night!
Restful and serene.

Easter ski getaway
We just returned from a wonderful weekend away at this beautiful lake front cottage! The house was exactly as pictured, yet I was surprised by how big the house and property really were. The rooms just kept going on and on which was great for our two families. The older kids has lots of space to stretch out while the younger kids explored. The location was perfectly situated between okemo and killington. We chose to ski killington due to better snow conditions after a not so great ski season. Alecia was so helpful booking our stay, recommending restsurants and providing us information even on Easter Sunday. The lake was beautiful and the kids enjoyed fishing, skipping rocks and even a March polar plunge. We look forward to returning in the warmer weather to enjoy all this property has to offer. Thanks again Alecia!

Perfect Cabin for a Ski Weekend!
My friends and I have come to this cabin 3 years in a row and absolutely love it! It is nestled conveniently between Okemo and Killington and fits a ton of people comfortably. We love how homie the cabin feels and it comes stocked with every amenity you could think of (and often times beer in the fridge which is always a plus :) ) The owner of the cabin are very easy to communicate with and has clearly put a lot of thought into making our visits effortless. I would highly recommend this location if you are looking for a fun weekend with friends or family!

Fantastic Winter Rental
My family and I have rented many homes through VRBO and this house is easily our favorite. This house has a character and warmth that can only be created by an owner who clearly loves this house. The furniture and decor have a vintage vibe, with a mix of old and new. As the description states, it is definitely not "cookie cutter." The beds are very comfortable, the wireless works well, and the kitchen has everything a family could possibly need. The five bedrooms are huge and the house has both upstairs and downstairs living areas. It's the perfect layout for families with children, or multiple families renting together. It is in a great location for a sking getaway.....20 min to Killington/Pico, and 15 min to Okemo. The location on Amherst lake is picturesque and there are some beautiful snow shoeing trails in plymouth state park which is 1 mile away.
