We had a great time at their lake house. It was clean, comfortable, convenient, and relaxing. I highly recommend it!

Summer Escape
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property. The house was comfortable and roomy enough to accommodate our party of 5 adults and 3 little ones - ages 7, 4 and 18 months. A very short walk across the flat yard to the sandy beach where the boys spent most of their time. The water slide was a definite attraction for them! When not in the water, the porch was a great place for games. All in all, a great escape from the seclusion endured due to COVID. Thank you John and Judy for sharing your home with us.

A Perfect Vacation
We were at the lake house for one week. We were there with our two sons and two grandchildren. The house was so comfortable, well equipped and very clean. John and Judy were so helpful. The kids loved the kayaks. We didn't get many fish but so enjoyed the water. Truth be told we didn't really try to fish. My favorite place was the screened in porch. The house is so close to Brainerd we were able to have a fun day and not have to drive very far. My son and his family also enjoyed the bike trails. I hope we can return next summer. Thank you John and Judy

Absolute Gem with great communication
This property had everything we could ask for. A lake home with a sand beach for the little ones, huge yard for whiffle ball and keepers right off the dock. Enclosed porch setting was the common seating place. Clean, and the owners couldn't have been nicer. They communicated throughout the trip. Thanks for the wonderful experience!

Home away from Home 😎
This is our 3rd year at this wonderful lake home! We come with our kids and grandkids-in fact our two youngest (both 2 1/2) said, “There’s the lake! We made it just in time!!” We all enjoy the beautiful house, lake, yard, and walking trails. Our only complaint is that the week goes too fast! John and Judy-thank you for sharing your home with us, and for being fabulous to work with!!

Fabulous Week at Perch Lake Home
We enjoyed a fabulous week in Minnesota at this Perch Lake home. The kids enjoyed the sandy beach and water and the adults had a great time fishing and taking paddle boat rides. We also enjoyed the kayaks – they were perfect for exploring the bay of the lake. We loved roasting marshmallows on the beach in the fire pit, which was especially welcome on the cooler nights. We spent serene morning coffees on the dock bench and evening meals on the awesome screened back porch, overlooking the lake. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything we needed for the week and the home was clean, neat, comfortable and decorated with a fantastic “up north” feel. We’ll be back next year!

Family vacation
We had a great week, weather was beautiful!! Kids had fun on the beach, biked on trails to the fairy houses. Fished, kayaked and rode on the paddle boat. Liked that Walmart was convenient. Enjoyed the quiet evenings on the porch viewing the lake. Looking forward to next year! Thanks John and Judy for the use of your home to make family memories.

Very disappointing experience - not as advertised
This “vacation renental” was far from what was advertised. This property was absolutely disgusting upon arrival. The “600 feet of beach front” was absolutely inaccurate and falsely advertised and covered with goose poop. Not only was it disgusting and impossible to clean up, the extremely close proximatey to the highway and Wal-Mart (literally next door) made it impossible to sit outside and relax. Along with all this, anyone looking to rent this property should be aware that you will be watched 24/7 via live footage cameras that surround the house. If this isn’t uncomfortable enough, you should also be aware you will be asked to do everyday choors to upkeep and maintaince the property such as pesticide sprayers, lawn services and having to manage all trash and recycling pick ups. If you are looking for a nice Minnesota cabin get away, keep looking. This is not the property for you.

Secluded property nestled right next to town for quick grocery trips and walking trails
This property is the best of both worlds! It’s right next to grocery stores and anything else you might want to grab from town yet feels like it’s a private, secluded property nestled in the middle of nature. The property is home to wildlife; lots of fish, gaggles of geese will visit a few times a day, squirrels with a lot to say, all kinds of birds and you’ll even see a little creature (muskrat, otter?) going for a swim a few times a day.
There’s also a train track near by (if you want to avoid the horn at 3 a.m., might want to skip sleeping with the windows open).
The lake is very clear and FULL of vegitation. It’s definitely more of a fishing lake than a swimming lake. We were a little disappointed when we arrived but after spending few hours raking out a swimming area, it turned out fine. John & Judy provide all the tools you’ll need for this - you’ll just need to provide the labor. :) We brought several floats and tied on to the dock - it worked great. We also look advantage of renting their kayaks and we are very glad we did. The kids (teens) tied a float on and paddled around the lake a bit like “poor mans tubing”. It was good, simple fun! No boat rental needed. 😂
They also provide a fire pit, charcoal and propain grill. We didn’t think to check the tank before we were ready to grill and it was empty - might want to check that on your first day. We never ended up grilling but they did have great notes in their cabin book on where to exchange the tank if you wanted.
We had some pretty good storms the last few days of our trip and John was great about letting us know about the weather radio, what county we were in, etc. We absolutely loved the screened in porch during the storms!!! It was so amazing to be able to sit out there, stay dry, put together puzzles and play games while listening to the storm. It was my favorite part of the house/trip!
When we arrived, we were missing towels. A quick text to John and his niece ran over to get some out for us. John is very responsive to texts and was very helpful in getting us all the information we needed before, during and after our trip. We had a minor maintenance issue during the stay but nothing that prevented us from having a great vacation.

We love this place!!
This is our second year staying at John & Judy's beautiful lake home! We absolutely LOVE it here!! No one wanted to leave. The house is clean and has plenty of space for everyone. The screened in porch continues to be our favorite spot both mornings and evenings. We rented a pontoon for a few days which was a BIG hit! The spacious yard was perfect for can jam, scavenger hunts, and many games of wiffle ball! Best of all, John & Judy are wonderful to work with! They are kind & caring-even sent us a missing baby doll for one of our granddaughters!! WE WILL BE BACK!

Great lake home for family vacation in Baxter MN
This was a peaceful lake home for our family of 5 adults and 4 kids. We enjoyed the beach, shallow swimming for the kids and beautiful screen porch for meals. The home was very comfortable and had everything we needed with plenty of room for all. Rented a pontoon for several days to cruise around the lake. Thank you John and Judy for sharing your home and making our family vacation special! Nancy and Tony Ruiz

A Hidden Gem on Perch Lake!
We chose this wonderful sight for the multiple levels of the home, large screened porch and beach area perfect for little ones. We knew we'd picked the perfect place once we arrived. It was more homey and spacious than even the pictures showed. It does not have a cabin feel but was more like the kind of place you'd choose if you could own lake property. A two to three week stay would have been perfect but then it would have been harder to leave!
There were 10 of us including 2 newborns and 2 toddlers. The beach, grounds, and home were a perfect family fit with comfy beds, couches, and chairs. The kitchen was well stock with everything you would need and the washer and dryer were a huge plus. City water was a positive for the little ones. The owners thoughtfully placed many extras in the home like games, books, night lights, fans, radios, clothes soap, etc..
Outdoor games were played in the expansive yard and the beach and sand area proved to be perfect for little ones. Having the canoe and paddleboat available were extra special for our stay and enjoyed by all.
The welcoming living room was relaxing and comfortable for the family, but our favorite space in the house was the amazing porch. It was a bonus space for enjoying just about anything - meals, crafts, games, rocking babies, but the evenings, while little ones slept inside, were magical.
An important fact for viewers is that Perch Lake has amazing water clarity and is known for being one of the cleanest lakes in the area. Fishing from the dock was wonderful with nice size Sunnies, and small and large mouth Bass. If you enjoy fishing there are also many nice deep holes in the lake to catch the big ones!
John and Judy were wonderful to work with and very accommodating. We highly suggest this property as a perfect, quiet location with close proximity to many of the fine dining and other special attractions in the Brainerd/Baxter area.
This property is a fabulous Hidden Gem!! Make the call...

Wonderful family get away - July 2017
We spent a week with our kids and grandkids at this property, and we had a WONDERFUL time!! The house was clean and comfortable, with plenty of room for all of us. The screened in porch was our favorite way to start and end each day. We also loved the big yard and sandy beach! The lake off the end of the dock was weedy, but there was still a nice area for the kids to swim-and they did everyday! :) We made lots of use out of both the paddle boat and canoe. The kids also LOVED feeding the goats on the Paul Bunyan Trail, which is nice and close. Thank you John & Judy for sharing your beautiful home with us!!

Nice and quiet place to relax
This is an older home that has been upgraded nicely. It's very comfortable and has all that you could ask for in a vacation home. It's in a nice neighborhood in Baxter and on a cul-de-sac--in other words very private and quiet. Big porch overlooks the lake and the sandy beach is nice. Brainerd is a five minute drive away and the home is very convenient to all kinds of stores and restaurants on both hiway TH210 and US 371.

Secluded and peaceful with easy access to everything we needed!
What a fabulous vacation we had at this property! Just as the description stated, we had all the privacy we wanted for our family. We enjoyed the easy access to the Paul Bunyan Bike Trails and could do all the exploring we could want, fed the goats along the paths, loved the beach and water! The dock gave us easy access for our boat and we caught some beautiful bass in the bay. We also really enjoyed the evening fires we could have on the beach.
The lake home was cozy, clean and well-appointed with comfortable duvets in the bedrooms, Wi-Fi and upgraded bathrooms. We spent much of our time on the screened-in back porch with its beautiful and peaceful views. It was very large, private and accommodated our family's needs.
The sitting area in the upstairs bedroom was perfect and inviting for my daughter who loves her privacy and claimed this as her reading space.
What really surprised us is how close and convenient this private location was to shopping, golf, restaurants and the high quality craft beer brewery in the area (Jack Pine Brewery). All in all, this was a very fun week with a little of everything for everyone. We will definitely be back!

My family had a great time
My family had a great time. The house was well-maintained and fit our needs perfectly. We especially liked the screened-in porch and ate our meals there. The listing description was accurate regarding all aspects of the home. The owners were easy to deal with and very accommodating. We would definitely recommend this property to others.

Peaceful, convenient, spacious, perfect for families
This was the most relaxing place we've ever rented, and we've traveled a lot in the USA and abroad. Between myself (a busy mom who just wants to chill out on vacation), my husband (fisherman/outdoor type), our two teens (who sometimes need space), the middle four (full of energy), and the toddler and baby (for whom we needed a safe place to stay-- doors they can't open, a visible beach, etc.), it's not easy to find a place that will satisfy all of our desires in a vacation. This place was perfect for everyone. A few nice features of the property: 1) Almost NO mosquitos. Not once did we need to use mosquito spray, and we were out until at least 9pm most nights. 2) Spacious- the home is much larger than it looks, and our family of ten had more than enough space. 3) Private- there is a neighbor on one side, but the orientation of the houses is such that you hardly notice when you're inside, on the deck or screen porch, in the huge backyard, or at the beach/dock. 4) Convenient location- at most 15-20 minutes from every major attraction, and less than a minute from a major shopping hub (but you'd never know it). 5) We didn't go biking, but the property appears to be right on the Paul Bunyan trail, and we noticed in the guest book that the people who stayed just before us had accessed the trail from it.
Overall, we had a great time here and hope to come back again, although it seems like the type of place that will book out far in advance. Thank you to the gracious owners for making their beautiful home available!!
Note- I'm recommending this property for those with disabilities because the descent to the beach is so gradual. There are two or three steps to get into the home, but once inside, everything is on one level- although a wheelchair might not fit in the main level bathroom. Also recommending to adventure seekers because of the close proximity to the bike trail and other attractions.

Great Family Vacation
We had a great week on Perch Lake. There are endless things to do right from the cabin. Bike directly to the Paul Bunyan Trail. Golf. Boating. Fishing from the dock for real fish. Forget something? Town is a short walk away. The house is very clean and comfortable. Screened porch was a treat. Large yard for yard games. The sand beach and level entry to the water is excellent. And the owners are a delight to work with. We will be back!

We want to thank you for such wonderful accommodations! Your lake home is lovely, clean and inviting. We were overwhelmed by the location! It is a very secluded bay of the lake, very private, and yet, convenient to shopping and restaurants! Running down the road (less than a mile) to pick up groceries or dinner was easier than at home!
My husband appreciated that Perch Lake is great for panfish and enjoyed being able to fish off the end of the dock! My favorite moments were sitting on the porch, enjoying a cup of coffee and listening to the loons! Even the occasional train whistle in the distance was very charming. We can hardly wait to return. Very nice!! Thank you!
