About this cottage rental
Outstanding View AND Location!
On the Deschutes River in the heart of Bend, this cozy cottage on a quiet street will give you the vacation experience you have been dreaming of. The setting is so relaxing you may not make it to all the outdoor recreation Central Oregon is famous for.
(It is May 2024 now and the noise of construction going on next door is winding down as drywall is going in. There does not seem to be the bother of contractors as much these days. If there is a problem please let us know.)
The small home features; free wi-fi, full, efficient, well appointed kitchen, washer, dryer, luxury linens of high thread count pure cotton, outdoor deck and fenced yards, front and back. But no pets please.....
The amphitheater concert venue is also just a half mile upstream.
In winter, Bend's new ice skating rink in winter just a ten minute walk.
This charming home is walking distance to Bend's downtown through the lovely Drake Park that hugs the eastern bank of the Deschutes River.
Our cottage is just under 900 square feet, so it is the definition of cozy. We keep it very clean, homey and traditional with quality touches. A lovely gas fire heats the main living areas of this cottage. The bedrooms and bathroom have their own quiet wall heaters. This cottage does not have central air although we have a portable unit if the weather gets very hot and is not predicted to be cooling down at night. The nights usually cool down nicely and we have provided fans to keep air moving.
The high thread count linens of pure cotton; down, and down alternative pillows outfit the bedrooms. Down, and down alternative duvets will keep you warm on chilly nights.
The cottage is also walking distance to the Old Mill District with it's recognizable shops, restaurants, and multi-cinemas. Bend's downtown, in the other direction, features charming old historic buildings and many weekends is host to the seasonal festivals and 'First Friday (of the month) Art Walks'.
For children: the new child friendly amenities of Columbia Park is just a five minute walk up the quiet street and over the footbridge up-stream from the cottage. (No busy streets to cross!)
There is also Harmon park with it's huge grassy field and backstops, and the children's' play area with the 'teeny boat', swings and play structure another 5 minute walk down stream across Galveston/Tumalo Bridge and up Harmon.
Walk to many of the micro-breweries Bend is also so famous for. Being on the west side, there are many small restaurants and food trucks/trailers/carts featuring many different offerings.
There are 2 bikes available for use. (We can be sure to have the tires inflated and in working order if you let us know you would like to use them.) There are also 2 stand up paddle boards for use we will have ready if you let us know as well.
For inside the cottage entertainment, besides the local television stations ABC NBC CBS, we have a small library of DVD's, and videos to choose from, and a 'Roku' for access to Netflix, Amazon, or other apps. with your account. Watch your selections on the 42 inch TV screen. We also have a selection of books, puzzles and games (dominoes, checkers, Parcheesi, Scrabble, cards etc.)
An AM/FM radio, CD and ipod (old) doc is also available.
The West side of Bend is also very close to Century Drive, the road to Mt. Bachelor, home to winter recreation. Skiing, snowboarding, cross country skiing and skating as well as snow tubing available through the winter and usually until the end of May! Ice skating is also available just a few minutes walk up river at the new ice skating rink (winter only). Between the cottage and Century Drive are ski shops for all your recreational needs including rentals of skis, snowboards and snowshoes.
We have attended to all the details we have found so nice in vacation rentals we have enjoyed.
Many of our guests have told us they do not wish to give a review as not to 'spoil their special spot' or find their favorite vacation time has been taken. We welcome repeat guests who would like to book with us and we work with principals only (do not ask to rent if you will not be staying and paying for yourself).
(Any evidence of pet smuggling, will be billed from your security deposit at a rate we determine.)
Even in the winter it is always a lovely view of the river and very cozy and warm with the radiant gas stove.
Come visit and enjoy as much of beautiful Central Oregon as you can. It's a recreational feast!

This is our second year back at the river house and it feels like we just left. Having the river at your backdoor is priceless. The house is small and adorable and has everything you could need. We hopped on paddle boards right off of the dock, paddled up and down the river every day, walked to the best restaurants and markets, cooked in the kitchen, lounged on the deck and had the best time. We will be back again soon!

Loved our stay at this house- very comfortable, clean and well stocked. The river is the highlight- spent lots of time floating- easy walk to 2 parks for put ins and take outs- and just relaxing by the water. Will definitely be back!

As we pack up to leave this gem of a vacation rental, we are saddened that our vacation is coming to an end. This home and location was perfect; well equipped, clean, comfortable, impressive location and views. We’ll be back for sure.

The view and tranquil river was just what we needed. I thought 6 nights might be too much, but we really enjoyed our stay and could have stayed longer. The cottage was perfect for us and very comfortable. We even had the large Buck visit us. He is not shy of humans. The Host were great to work with too. Thank you!

You can't beat this spot on the river! We loved hanging out and watching the tubes float by. It's also a nice walk into town. The best of both worlds!

We had an amazing time at the river cottage. We spent most days paddle boarding and tubing down the river, relaxing in the backyard, walking to parks and restaurants and enjoying summertime in Bend. The cottage was clean and had all of the amenities we needed. The hosts were incredibly accommodating and even left snacks and drinks. Being right on the river was absolutely wonderful. We can’t wait to be back!

We had an amazing stay at the property and look forward to booking again next summer. Really couldn't ask for a better location to enjoy walking to downtown or old mill, and the fact that you could tube the whitewater park and float back to the house was amazing!!

First off, the location is Ideal!! Very great walking distance to many places. The property is right on the Deschutes River. You walk right out your door and cross the lawn and there it is!
Many other homes we noticed you had to go down a flight flight of stairs in their backyard to get to the water.
They had bikes available, but you need to let them know in advance so they can make sure the tires are pumped up.
That house is fully stocked as if someone lives there, which is wonderful!
We will be back!!!

Lovely little cottage right on the river with walkability to many great spots in Bend. We were comfortable on the hottest week of the summer and looked forward to cooling off in the river each afternoon. The kitchen had everything we needed and the outdoor space was a treat. We would happily stay here again!

My family and I had a great time! I love the location! You can park and walk or bike everywhere. The pictures on Vrbo didn’t do justice for the property. I was pleasantly surprised! Clean nice mill home. I enjoyed laying in the shade on the grass in the backyard! Thanks for sharing your home!

We really enjoyed our stay at this cottage. It was in a great location to float the river or walk to local restaurants. The house was very clean and we felt at home. Everything you need to have a comfortable stay was there including some drinks and snacks they provided. We will be staying here again for sure and we can’t wait!! Thank you!

This was our fourth summer in Bend, but our first time staying on the riverfront. It was a game changer, especially for the kids. They played on the river most of every day. For food and entertainment we walked and rode bikes downtown and to old mill. We had a great vacation! I wish I lived in this house :-)

Perfect location for enjoying all Bend has to offer. The cottage is located within an easy walk or bike ride distance to the Old Mill District, Drake Park, downtown, and Galveston Avenue. Relaxing in the backyard watching the river flow by was a special treat.

Cute cottage, very clean, with nice kitchen and comfy beds. Owner thoughtfully supplied snacks, drinks and bathroom essentials. Back yard is a WOW! Nice deck and manicured lawn up to the Deschutes. All the sun or shade you want anytime during the day. Small dock for sunbathing or easy in/out of the river. I'm old 60 and out of shape but I was able to easily carry my tube to McKay park, go down the rapids and float to Drake park then walk back. We did it 3 times one day. Walk to the Mill District or Downtown. easy access to bike paths. Just a great location! The portable AC was adequate Will rent again!

Such a peaceful and beautiful setting, shared with ducks, geese, an antlered deer, and kayakers drifting by. The house is well equipped (even found a desperately needed sewing kit for some quick clothing repair), charming and walkable to great restaurants, parks and whatever! The location can’t be beat. Loved it!
