Have you ever dreamed of a place where there was peace and serenity? Where living was not a struggle but a lasting delight? Of course you have...so has everyone since time began. Sometimes it is called Utopia.
We call it Shangri-la (Lost Horizon, 1933).
Imagine the moment you arrive...your eyes focus on the emerald green waters of the Gulf...now you are standing on your own private dune walkover just steps from the pristine sugar white sand...you breathe in the salt air and feel the Gulf breeze. Whatever worldly concerns you brought with you simply wash away with the ocean waves.
WELCOME TO SHANGRI-LA, our beach home and one we proudly share with you. Built into a beautiful sand dune, rich with sea oats, Shangri-la is a 3-story, 40 foot tall, sky blue 'sand castle.' Tucked in behind it is a white picket-fenced courtyard with our 2-story guest house, La-ti-da. This courtyard is completely closed off and is an excellent area for young children or pets to play. And yes, we are PET FRIENDLY.
Both inside and out, Shangri-la and La-ti-da, some 4,000 square feet, are professionally designed and decorated, employing color and space to be both beautiful and functional. Large enough to accommodate between 10 to 14 guests(depending on the mix of adults and children), our 6 bedrooms and 4 1/2 bathrooms and common areas allow for flexibility with sleeping arrangements.
Believe it or not....there are two 12' long teakwood suspended bridges spanning the second and third floors...amazing to see...a truly one-of-a-kind experience. You will not find another vacation home like Shangri-la.

My family and I stayed at this house July 20th - 27th 2024 . The AC was not working four of the seven days on the first and second floor . The stove in the kitchen was not working five of the seven days .
House is extremely outdated the furniture , appliances and electronics are all from the 90s including VHS TVs !!!

This was our second time staying at Shangri-la. Our family of 11 loves staying here; the location is the best! It is a beautiful oceanfront home with plenty of sleeping quarters. The house was spotless when we arrived and the host was wonderful to communicate with. We rented a golf cart and never left the Carillon community with good places to eat and shop. Great family memories made here; definitely will return!

This house was great for our family vacation. Carillon is our go-to beach because the neighborhood is amazing! Direct beach access from this property to your 6 reserved beach chairs can’t be beat. Sunset views from the porch were also wonderful. The house has a lot of stairs and the guest house spiral stairs were too challenging for grandma.

My family of 12 loved our beach vacation at Rosemary-rich dunes, and Shangri-La. You just can’t beat the beachfront location! Being able to walk a short distance to the waters edge is so nice with my young grandchildren. It has wonderful gathering areas in the dining, living and porch. It has enough bedrooms and bathrooms for our whole family to have their own privacy. The Carillon community, it is located in, is a treasure! It is a gated community therefore it is not crowded, it is very safe and a wonderful neighborhood to walk in. We also enjoyed several of the pools available in the community within a short walking distance. There are grocery stores and restaurants just a mile or two away. My family’s favorite activity was searching for sand crabs after dark so bring your flashlights!

We loved the description of the property; so excited to get there… Last year we stayed just down the street and LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF IT…
It was our family vacation: my wife and I, our two college age daughters, my sisters and their husbands and our 90 year old MOM. Lot’s of stairs…too many stairs for Mom…she had to stay in the separate “la te da” unit at the front of the property.
For the price we paid…it was a solid 5…Good News is they allow pets and the couch is very comfortable…I slept there, lol.

We had one of the best vacations we have ever had in Florida. The Carillon Beach location is perfect - very quiet and family friendly. We usually stay in the heart of 30A, but this is our new favorite place - a little quieter and less chaotic than being right on 30A. The house is a true architectural gem. We had a couple of lawyers and an executive in our party, so the guesthouse was used for conference calls and a quiet work area, and it worked so well for us. Joan and Helen were so helpful and kind. We can’t say enough good things about our experience at ShangriLa!

We loved our stay at ShangriLa! It is a beautiful house in and absolutely beautiful location! Our whole family discussed it and we would easily stay forever. The only complaint that we had was the stairs! But, we definitely had plenty of exercise on our vacation! We had 8 that ranged in ages from 17-76 and we all enjoyed it. The master bedroom was perfect and my husband and I enjoyed sleeping with the door to the ocean opened. My sister and her husband enjoyed the screened porch outside of their room and the younger adults enjoyed having their own room and shared bathroom on the third floor. My parents slept in the cottage because my dad has a lot of health issues and needs to be close to the restroom with no stairs and is cold all the time, so he was able to turn the heat up to get it warm enough for him, but didn't burn anyone else out. My mom loved being able to sleep in the cottage upstairs because she could spread out and stay up as late as she wanted or get up really early and she didn't have to worry about waking anyone up. The back porch was a favorite hangout for everyone, as was the beach, even though it was pretty chilly, we still enjoyed it. I took my dog on many walks and I loved looking at all the different homes in the area. Thank you for a beautiful vacation spot!

The location could not have been better being just steps from the beach through a private walkway. The house was clean and had multiple places for people to gather! The owner provided a local person who was very attentive to our needs. It was a perfect beach week for our family of 10!

We absolutely loved everything about our stay. The house was beautiful with plenty of space, and we had everything we needed. We loved being right on the beach and having the beach chairs already furnished and not having to worry about the hassle of renting them. We also loved having three stories as well as the La-ti-da guest house. We also really enjoyed the gated community and neighborhood, as well as the pet friendly atmosphere and being able to take our dogs for walks each day. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home!

Excellent stay at Shangri-La. We love coming to Carillon every year and this was our first stay at this location. The main house was excellent and had everything we needed. We would absolutely stay here again. Our only negative experience as a group was with the guest house (La-Ti-Da). We had my mother stay here as she likes her own space. We did not see in the photos or description that the floors are separated by a spiral staircase with the bathroom on lower level and bedroom/living area on upper. This was only an issue as it was difficult for an older person to travel back and forth especially at night. Also, while the main house was extremely clean, the guest house had some leftover food/egg in the sink and the pet smell was pretty obvious. This is a pet-friendly listing so that is to be expected, but the main house did not have this issue. Also the door to the outside deck was not operable as it was warped and we couldn’t open it to the outside.
These were only minor issues with the guest house only. We would love to stay at the main house again in the future. Lastly, the host was extremely accommodating with our schedules and allowed us to check in early, which was wonderful. Thank you!!

My extended family and I and I stayed at this house for for a week in mid july. We had a very nice time because it was on the beach and it was very easy to get down to the water. There was a master bedroom and 3 other bedrooms in the main house. The upstairs also had futons. The other small house on the property was ideal for kids and supervising adult(s). We had no problem fitting four cars in the courtyard and one on the street. They have a gas grill and a regular grill too. The gas grill is right outside the beach door ao it is super convenient.

Everything was great! Perfect fit for our family, friends, and pets. Fenced in yard made it even more convenient with our pets. The location on the beach was amazing. Such a short walk to the water.

To tell the truth, I was a little disappointed when I first saw the house… Not quite as glamorous as I thought it would be, but I grew to love it… The house was very comfortable and calming and relaxing… The family loved it; The beach is steps away which is why we traveled to begin with; there are very nice restaurants nearby and we were blessed to be able to walk around the village at night, something you can’t do in the high-rise condos on the main road. I would definitely be back.

Our family had a great time. The private beach access and not over crowded beach was a hit! The accommodations were comfortable for our family of 15. We had a problem with the gas grill, but the homeowners support staff was quick to respond, hoping it’s an issue that got resolved after we left.

This place was amazing! Definitely a lot of stairs and not made for the elderly or little children unless watched carefully. Stairs are not good for older dogs either. Other than the aforementioned the place was perfect for our family and comes highly recommend!

Enjoyed our stay. Joan was quick to respond to any questions. The carriage house was nice to have with an 8 week old baby. No king beds and only 2 queens. Kitchen amply furnished. Was clean, some furniture needs to be replaced.

Everything at our stay was great. Fantastic house on the beach with great view. Great gated community with 3 pools, restaurants and other shops. The house had all the amenities and toys you would want. Joan the owner was great and gave us tips for the area and things to do and was very flexible in scheduling the rental. We will definitely come back if we can. 5+ star all the way.

The property is in a great location-oceanfront in a very nice gated community of very nice homes. The house and guest house are nice and we enjoyed our stay. A couple of small items to note are that the chain holding the swing on the master porch had rusted and rust was all around the swing and the wicker furniture outside was a little weathered-all effects of the salt air. The beds were comfortable but sleeping on a double bed is hard for 2 people and queens if not kings preferred. The view was excellent, check-in easy, and host communication excellent. Great area to stay in also with white sandy beaches and clear water.

We were a family of 10 and had a wonderful time at this beautiful place! The house is spacious with a beautiful kitchen, lots of sleeping quarters, and charmingly decorated. It was extremely clean, well stocked and we didn't need to buy anything but food and drinks. (My husband's favorite thing was the ice maker.) Lol. It felt like being home with all cute the family pics around. Our host, Joan, was the nicest and in contact with us at all times. Carillon Beach is our favorite place to stay and the kids love to ride their bikes all over. Very safe, gated community. We walked to eat at all the local restaurants- food was delicious-never need to get in your car. Highly recommend and would definitely stay there again!

Very roomy house that is close to the water. Adjacent apartment was perfect for extra guests. The best part was the gated, private neighborhood that was safe and quiet. Beach was never crowded even on July 4. We had a wonderful time.

Shangri-la was an absolutely amazing home for a much needed vacation. It is comfortable decorated, everything worked, it was more than enough room for everyone to have their own space. There is nothing like having a house right on the beach with children. The community is very family friendly. The house was stocked with everything you could ever need from pots and pans to beach toys and a kayak. Joan was a gracious owner that help make our stay everything we had hoped it would be. Latida, the guest house, was perfect for our son and his wife with their pets. We were so happy to find a pet friendly house on the beach which is not easy to find. With an enclosed courtyard, it was much easier with our furbabies. Even with the storm that moved in on our last day, we all hated to leave. We will be back to this wonderful place by the beautiful gulf. Thanks Joan for all your help and sharing your amazing home with us. Dianne Garrett

Shangrila & La ti da was a wonderful beach house for our family of 11. The location was awesome, loved that the beach was right out the door. Great neighborhood and very safe! With our large family we could have used an extra queen size bed instead of the full size. We used the gas grill & cooked out several times. Easy walk to tennis courts and pools. We would stay there again!
