We stayed in the last week of September. The weather was wonderful and the valley provided wonderful hikes, markets and scenery. Our host and her agent were very helpful in orienting us to the property and area. We are an older couple and this property was ideal. We hope to one day return.

For 20 years my husband and I have been renting homes in the Luberon, each distinctive and comfortable. From the moment we arrived at Chez Bellevue, we knew that we absolutely found the most perfect haven to relax and experience the beauty & serenity of Saignon and environs. If you are looking for a step back in time while having all modern conveniences at your disposal, look no further than Rachael and Morris’s home. As you see from the photos, this stone house is situated such that you with marvel at gorgeous, colorful sunsets and a stunning view of the hills & valley below Saignon. The house is simply beautiful---the care and detail in furnishings, art, books, linens…all will have you feel as though you’re in another time that was simpler, comforting, and elegant. The beds are very comfortable; showers flow with hot water; kitchen is unmatched with what is there for you to make & enjoy meals; you want for nothing at this house! Most important---Rachael has thought of everything to make your stay a real escape without worry. From extra blankets to baskets & hats for market days, everything is there for you. Joanna will settle you in and she’s available any time to assist. We were met with a lovely bottle of wine, local preserves & herbs, and great info on where to hike & shop. And, Saignon is AMAZING! There’s so much to see in & around this village, I could go on and on! Thank you, Rachael! We cannot wait to return to Chez Bellevue!

From the beginning, this could not have been a better rental experience. The house was very spacious, comfortable, attractive— both modern and old Provençal. The owner was warm, welcoming, very communicative, and was generous with supplies and excellent suggestions. The caretaker, Joanna, and her husband, were wonderfully helpful and enjoyable. The location was perfect, not only magical in its beauty, but situated near other lovely villages like Lourmarin and Bonnieux. There are an abundance of wonderful restaurants in and not too far from Saignon. Having rented many French houses over the past 20+ years, this one stands out as one of the best in every regard, particularly because the owner and caretaker were so wonderful. We intend to return to “Chez Bellevue” for future stays.

Home is stunning in the beautiful village of Saignon. Attention to detail is beyond reproach, nothing left to want.
The location was superb. We were able to visit in our 10 days every other small village farmers market in Provence. We even tried to rate the other villages compared to Saignon, but nothing compared.
Views from the home we spectacular.
It is sometimes hard to find a slice of heaven in our world today. This is one we are happy we did not miss. Thank you Rachael and Joanna.

Our stay in Saignon was absolutely wonderful. Everything about the house and the village was fantastic. The host was so considerate, greeting us at the door and even showing us around town. The accommodations were spectacular, with beautiful views and very roomy, immaculate and comfortable for our family of 5. We will definitely be coming back - the house and Saignon were the highlight of our trip!

Perfect spot in Provence
Chez Bellevue is truly a special place. The views from the house overlooking fields of lavender are amazing. The village of Saignon is really picturesque. The small city of Apt is only a couple of minutes away. Great place to stay.

Saignon's secret gem
The four of us agreed this house exceeded our expectations. Every time we returned from visiting another village we'd say how we were so glad to be staying at Chez Bellevue in Saignon. The house is very comfortable with a gorgeous view out back. Sunsets were always enjoyed with dinner, making it a good reason to cook at home, notwithstanding the fabulous produce and all that can be found at the farmer's markets. The kitchen was well-equipped and easy to work in. The village was surprisingly interesting. We spent hours exploring, and getting exercise following the winding streets all around. The view on the Rocher is not to be missed! Joanna took good care of us, answering our questions and offering interesting bits about the village and culture we were immersed in. We wished we had planned our stay for more time as there's so much to see and do within a reasonable distance. We didn't want to leave after only one week!

Best holiday rental ever!
Chez Bellevue lives up to its premier listing. Lovely home in a beautiful village in a great part of France. The house was very clean and homely, well stocked with everything needed on holiday included delicious home made jam!Recommended place to stay with children and family. We would happily return again.

Lovely stay in Provence
Rachael’s house in the village of Saignon was the perfect spot for our family of five! Enough beds for all, and everyone was comfortable; space both inside and outside in the terrace to enjoy each other’s company, a kitchen with everything we could need, and a village the perfect size for our children to explore on their own. Even a soccer pitch/ basketball hoops for our teenagers just down the hill!
We wished that there were a couple more restaurants or a little store with necessities in the village so trips to Apt or elsewhere weren’t necessary, as we loved just being in the house and village and enjoying the view, but Apt isn’t far. It was also a short drive to many of the places we wanted to see.
We loved every minute! Thank you!

A perfect home from home with just about everything you could possibly wish for. The house has been beautifully and lovingly decorated in the typical Provençal style. Having breakfast on the terrace overlooking the blooming lavender field below Saignon is a wonderful start of the day. Saignon is a great base for exploring the villages of the Luberon, the Colorado Provençal, L‘Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, Aix-en-Provence...We have been perfectly looked after before and after our arrival and it was hard to leave. We hope to come back soon. Thank you Rachael for having us as your guests and thanks to Joanna for welcoming us on our arrival.

Pretty little village in Provence
This is a well laid out apartment in a classic small town. Everything has been well done and the south facing windows/balcony are very nice. Great views over the valleys and easy access to the few restaurants in the village.

Village living
We loved our week in Saignon. The property at Chez Bellevue was perfect, with beautiful light filled bedrooms and views for days. One of our favorite activities was sitting with food and wine out on the back terrace, gazing at the hills and beautiful valley below. Rachael (from afar) and Joanna (locally) were highly responsive and gracious hosts. Our time there remains among our top highlights of our travels.

Perfect in Provence
We had a wonderful time in this charming home. Joanna was very helpful in meeting us and showing us around the property. There was lots of room for two couples, with separate sleeping and bath space. We especially loved dining on the terrace, overlooking lavender fields and the countryside below. The location is perfect for exploring the villages of Bonnieux, Lacoste, Ménerbes, Gardes, Roussillon, etc. We also enjoyed a day trip to St. Remy and the fabulous Carrières des Lumieres at Les Baux. We highly recommend this property.

A Wonderful Time in the Luberon
There could not be a better view anywhere. Stepping out on the balcony you see mountains, lavender fields and Apt below. We loved our stay at Rachels. Clean, cheerful, lovely furnishings, and a great caretaker. You won’t be disappointed.

The highlight of our France trip!
Chez Bellevue is incredible - starting with a warm welcome from Joanna and welcome bag from Rachael with local delicacies. They were incredible hosts. The house is just lovely: immaculate and charming, with so many thoughtful and generous touches throughout. We loved it so much we extended our stay and we are hoping to return again. Huge thanks to our wonderful hosts.

A perfect Provencal getaway
We loved every part of our stay at Rachel's home in Saignon. After a long journey we were greeted by Joanna (thank you!) who provided us a complete run-down of the house and charming village. Rachel kindly left us provisions and wine, knowing we would arrive late and on a national holiday. So we simply sat on the patio, watched the fireworks and drank local rose. And the smell of the lavender fields that the home overlooked, took our breath away. The home is so lovely, well-decorated and very comfortable. There was plenty of room for our small family and stocked with everything we needed. The village is small and quiet, yet so many different twists and turns, with just enough artisans, restaurants and over-looks to keep us intrigued during our stay. The views from Chez Bellevue are unmatched. It was truly a spectacular setting for a vacation in Provence.

Beautiful Provençal house in charming village
We loved every minute of our stay in Saignon. The house is so charming and authentically Provencal and the town is so cute and fun to explore. Rachael has really thought of everything to make the stay welcoming and worry-free. Joanna met us at the house and showed us the ropes and was very nice and helpful with activities/sights nearby. It was so nice to have coffee and other staples on hand when we arrived, so we wouldn't have to run right to the store after a long day of travel and the welcome gift was amazing and so thoughtful. We enjoyed our views from the kitchen window and balcony throughout the day and my 2 sons loved staying in the downstairs "cave". Rachael's information guide was very helpful regarding markets/restaurants, etc. We visited 2 restaurants and the bakery (it was so nice to just send my sons up to buy some croissants in the morning) in Saignon and the food was incredible at each meal, plus the staff was very pleasant at each place and spoke English, which I wasn't expecting. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this property to anyone and I hope we are able to make it back someday.

A place to call home
We were looking for a base to enjoy sites of the Luberon. We found it and couldn't have been more happy. Wonderful location and a charming feel. We spent most of our time on the patio overlooking Apt. Our days centered around being back in time to enjoy the sunset with a glass of wine and locally-sourced snack. The owner and local rep were exceptional in pre-trip planning, suggestions for restaurants and sites, and all aspects of coordination. Easy to check in and get the lay of the home. The owner and rep were accessible via email and genuinely caring about how we were doing. The home was well appointed with all we needed. It was just out of the way of the main (little) square but so easy to access the local services. Parking is at the local, free car park but you can drive up to drop off and pick up luggage and things as needed. Overall, the home was a wonderful place to call home as we day tripped to the wonderful attractions of the Luberon.

Chez Bellevue was heavenly -- it is beautifully appointed and was perfect for exploring Provence.
The owners have thought of everything as they've made Chez Bellevue a home away from home. The views from the terrace are heavenly and made us want to eat every meal there. Saignon is a very small village which was perfect for our children (ages 10, 8, and 5) -- they felt comfortable running to the boulangerie for bread and to the local farmer for melon. Our local point of contact was extremely helpful with sugggestions to make our stay comfortable, and the owners' standing list of suggested restaurants, markets, and sights helped us feel like locals. We so hope to return one day!

Beautiful
We had a lovely five days in Saignon. The house is perfect and is well equipped with everything you need for your stay. Rachel and Joanna were very accommodating and easy going. It is a great village to stay in if you want to do some walking and is central to other beautiful small villages. The village itself has a few good restaurants and a boulangerie for your morning coffee and croissant. Don't miss the market in Laurmarin.

Enchanting home in a beautiful hill top medieval village
My boyfriend and I spent 4 nights in this wonderful home. As soon as we walked in it exceeded all of our expectations--pictures don't do this house or town justice! It is a cozy rustic home, tastefully decorated, with beautiful views, The balcony is a wonderful place to hang out, sip wine, and enjoy the views. And a wine bottle was waiting for us upon our arrival, along with other local products in a welcome package.
My favorite was at night, when you can see the Provence sky full of stars, and on the right in the distance, the lights of the nearby town apt. The town of Saignon is small but very charming with its own little fountain courtyard. There is a few restaurants and the two we tried were very good, one of them serving typical provencal food. Saignon is a good base to explore nearby Provencal attractions-- some of the ones we did are wine tasting in Chateneuf du Pape, walking around Aix en Provence, hiking in Foret de Cedres, exploring Saignon itself and other medieval towns. It seemed there was so much more to do if we had had more time.
The owners did a great job at equipping the house--from shampoo to laundry detergent to bandaids.
We highly recommend this home to anyone considering a stay in Provence!

Loved Chez Bellevue!! We highly recommemd it!!
Chez Bellevue is a newly renovated home in the village of Saignon in the Luberon Mountains over-looking lavender fields, sheep pastures and the city of Apt. Saignon was our home base in Provence. This small ancient hilltop town has ruins going dating at least to the 800s or 900s if not before. It has very tiny streets paved in stone and we parked in a lot in town and walked to the home. There is a small town square with a working fountain covered by moss fed by a spring topped by a full sized statue of a two women holding asparagus and a jug of wine. Right by it is the a small covered pool where villagers used to wash their clothes and maybe bathe. There are two churches that face each other across the top of the mountain, both built about 500 or 600 hundred years ago. One is still a functioning catholic church with a well-tended graveyard out back with multiple memorials, flowers, and statues. The other is right below the craggy rock summit ruin and seemed to be privately owned. We did go to top of the hill one night and watched the sun set. The view was just about the best we had in France. You could see the entire valley and the top of snowcapped Alps in the far eastern distance beyond the Luberon. There is almost no commerce. There is one baker who closes on Wednesdays, one place that serves lunch, and two or three restaurants that serve dinner and one of these was closed because it was not the high season yet. We did have dinner one night at one of the two places and it was quite passable. Particularly impressive was the chocolate desert which was kind of a cross between a brownie and fudge. We felt that compared to many of the similar towns we visited around the Luberon, Saignon is undiscovered. We absolutely loved it.
The house has a well stocked kitchen and the washer/drier was a great benefit because we had traveled for a week without a laundry. The home itself was very comfortable. It had three levels and including a basement that was painted white so it was not dark. It had a balcony overlooking the hillside and valley facing west so we could sit there and have wine and cheese and watch the sunset. The kitchen was very functional and we had breakfast and dinner there almost every day. There were several local supermarkets in the nearby town in Apt.
The house was clean and well maintained. Wifi was good. We met the owner's representative who showed us the home and how to use things. Loved it!!

A Perfect House And Location For Provence!
We have in the past stayed in Saint Remy and Menerbes and we like the location of Saignon the best. Easy to enjoy all the Luberon Villages. Within a couple hours of the coast. We like the authenticity of Siagnon the most. Unlike some other of the plus beaux villages, is is not overly commercialized. While there are a few restaurants, with much more within a ten minute drive from the village (in Apt) you have the sense that you are living in a real village-where people are friendly and they know each other--- because they do! Unlike Rousillon and Gordes which seemed to be overrun with tourists ( even in September) Saignon is peaceful and beautiful. The house is extremely comfortable and beyond well decorated. The view from the terrace is amazing. The owners have done a beyond first class job with all of the renovations, keeping the charm of the original with modern conveniences and upgrades. Beds are super comfortable. All is super clean. The owner is a terrific communicator, could not be more pleasant-- and you will be met by Joanna-- who does an excellent job welcoming you. This is a flawless house rental situation!

An original and beautifully redecorated village house with extremely helpful and kind owners.
I warmly recommend a stay at Chez Bellevue. The house itself is well furnished and has everything you need if you wish to cook your own meals. The balcony is wonderful with a beautiful view.
The village though quite small has several very good restaurants and you can have good coffee and morning croissants at the village boulangerie which is also a cafe. The surroundings are beautiful with plenty of options for excursions.
The owner of the house went out of her way to make sure everything went well from arrival to departure and the lady who gave us the keys etc was also extremely helpful and tolk her time to show us not only the house but also the village. Everything was so personal and we were made to feel really welcome.
Our very best recommendations!!

Saignon charm
In Saignon there's a pretty house
Our hostess calls 'Bellevue'
Discovered by our Lily Mouse
Alas! We say, ‘Adieu’!
The things we loved, the treasures here
This book's too short to name.
Of memories which we'll hold dear
We'll list some just the same.
The house décor has such a flair
No luxury is missed.
Each room's restored with tasteful care
The terrace, sunset-kissed!
The folks from the 'Petit Cafe'
The chap who sells the sprigs
Jean Guigou & the boulanger
Excelling at their gigs
The market, fields, the lavenders
The figs, the poppies, grapes
Our daily feline visitors
The restaurants, the crepes!
Let's celebrate this Eden space
That Rachael has provided
The four of us adore this place
On that we're undivided!

Great Place for a Family
We really enjoyed Che Bellevue. Location was just right, sunsets off the porch/dining area were magnificent, and the space for a family of four - could not have been better. The country kitchen was so well done - it made it a dream to handle breakfast, lunch, or dinner. And it was all so very French countryside - including the soccer pitch down the road with the million dollar view. We'll be back for sure.

The tiny village of Saignon is magical and to find such an amazing house in this village is a real find. The home has all been restored with all the modern conveniences, even a clothes dryer! The kitchen is well stocked and fun to cook in. The beds are super comfy. The owners leave you with a bountiful bag of goodies from Provence and one of the best amenities of all is the L'Occitane en Provence products the owner supplies. Joanna greets you warmly and goes overboard to make your stay special. The terrace overlooking the valley is relaxing and the fact that you only need to walk a few minutes to buy croissants at Christines is a bonus. I hope to make it back and would definitely stay at Chez Bellevue.

We realise just how lucky we were to experience living in France in this newly renovated cute little French home. The house has been very thoughtfully as well as lovingly restored and has a truly cosy ambiance. Situated in the tinsy hilltop village of Saignon, overlooking the much larger town of Apt, made one feel immediately part of an extended family which was both relaxing as well as friendly. Literally a short drive from any number of other villages we were out and about most days experiencing as much of the French way of life as we could. The only negative for us was that we had booked to stay for only 2 weeks when we would have loved to stay 2 months.... but we'll return for more for sure.

I stayed at Chez Bellevue for 3 weeks in April/May 2012 with two friends. We found the house delightful. It was perfect for us as it was comfortable with lovely views of the Luberon area which was spread out below us. As the house is situated at the top of the hillside a car was necessary for us to be able to explore all the interesting and beautiful sights of the countryside. The accommodation had everything we needed. Very clean and well kept. The photos on the website did match the accommodation. As the weather was still a little cool at times the heating in the house was necessary and perfectly adequate. The house had recently been renovated and therefore everything worked well and looked terrific. If we had any queries there was a phone number to call and an English couple were available to not only clean but give us helpful advice regarding the local area.
The village of Saignon is very picturesque and a joy to spend time in. I can thoroughly recommend Chez Bellevue to anyone wanting to spend time in the Luberon.
