We were looking for a quiet place off the beaten path, and this property more than met the bill. The host Connie is outstanding! She quickly replied to any questions we had. The off the grid cabin is perfect for an out of the way stay. Located on the south side of the island, you are between Hilo and Kona. We so enjoyed the area's black and green sand beaches. Thanks to Connie for sharing her bit of paradise with us.

We loved the privacy of this nice little cabin and couldn't get enough of all the beautiful tropical flowers in the yard. It felt very private while still being close to amenities, and Connie was great with answering any questions we had. Would definitely stay here again!

Beautiful--We played Jurastic Park Theme every time we drove in and out ...You expected dinosaurs to pop out.

Little slice of paradise
We loved everything about our 4-night stay here and only wish we'd had more time. The cabin is cozy, comfortable and provided everything we needed to relax and feel at home. We really enjoyed being off-grid and appreciated being conscious of the amount of electricity and water we used-but certainly didn't lack anything we needed. We cooked light meals in the evening and enjoyed a few movies before bed. The stars at night from the deck were amazing. It does get cool-pack layers.
The cabin is situated on the property to allow for total privacy as it's tucked back along the border of HVNP-Kuhuku Unit. The property is an oasis-the variety and mix of plants/trees is delightful. The location is excellent to explore HVNP and there are several beach options just a short drive away.
The owner, Connie, provided just the right amount of hands-on when we arrived, to get us situated and provide what info we needed for the cabin and to answer any questions we had. After we checked in we didn't see anyone the entire time we were there but exchanged a text or two with Connie to ask a quick question or send a friendly check in. She really made us feel at home-like we were her invited guests as opposed to just 'renters.'
We'd definitely recommend this place to any friends and family looking for an authentic taste of Hawai'i. We certainly hope to be back.

Terrible service, wall to wall bed is fine if you can pull it out to make it. Ants and traps, termites spiders and webs. Recliner falls in on one side. The other option is a futon that I never bothered to pull out.
Didn’t bother to cook the few nights were there. This was the worst customer service I have ever paid for being yelled at then saying she “might have been a bit harsh”
Left to go to a nicer place. Then she had the gall to argue with me for almost an hour then texting me saying that not one ant there. If you have the ability to be totally off grid even with out Wi-Fi to do business or any more than 3/4 roll of TPaper and you have to watch the batteries and not let it get down below a certain level and don’t mind bugs it’s ok. But make sure you don’t mind being yelled at or arguing with the owner this is the place to go......

Lovely, quiet, uplifts your spirit
I truly appreciate this lovely quiet cottage...after a day of exploring it was. Nice to come home to . We came in March..weather wasn't always great..but a nice rainy day gave the excuse to slow down and take it easy with good food, movies and books. That in itself is worth everything..for those of us that don't have slow lives! Connie is great..fun to talk to..and very nice about giving you your space..I enjoyed our stay and would definitely come again.

An inspiring, magical place
A peaceful, beautifully landscaped property overlooking the park. Connie's guest cabin is very well appointed, with thoughtful attention to detail. It is off grid, but lacks nothing for an extremely comfortable stay for two people. It is exceptionally clean, with everything you should need. It is very private and well screened from the owner's house. We always felt like we were coming home after a day of adventures. Connie responds quickly to any questions, but otherwise leaves you be. We love the driveway in to the cabin, as it showcases Connie's passion for plants. The birds, the breeze, sunshine and stars are all very present in this place. We were sad to leave and plan to return soon. A very heartfelt thanks, Connie!

Private Tropical Getaway!
My husband and I stayed at Connie's cute cabin for 8 days. We really enjoyed the off-grid privacy of the cabin. Connie is a great host, making herself available as needed, but certainly leaves you to yourself. The 20+ acres she calls home are a lush, topical paradise!
If you want to hear the birds in morning, feel the breeze in your hair at dusk, feel the warmth of the sun on your face, and smell the dewy fresh air...here's your spot. We will return!

Quiet Getaway
This home was the perfect quiet getaway we were looking for. The cabin is cozy but lacks nothing. We enjoyed cooking in the kitchen that had all the items we needed. The peaceful setting was exactly what we were looking for. And it was good to see what it's like to live off grid.

Peaceful, Secluded, and Inspirational Wonderland
Connie's cabin is absolutely sublime! My husband and I stayed for a week's vacation and every part of the experience was perfection. Upon booking, Connie reached out immediately to confirm and send detailed directions from Kona. At check in, she was so warm and welcoming, giving a full tour of the cabin's facilities and offering help by just a phone call away if we needed it. We never needed to call because she was so thoroughly informative at the first meeting. She respected our privacy for the rest of our stay and we got to imagine that this little paradise was all ours for the week. The cabin's location in Naalehu is secluded and very private, accessed by a drive through a gorgeous tropical jungle-like garden on the property. As a launching point, it's ideally located for day trips in each direction, whether it be Captain Cook to the northwest, Southpoint and Green Sands Beach to the south, and Volcano National Park, Hilo, and Puna to the east. It's well worth mentioning that the very popular Punalu'u bakery is only 15 minutes away, so it's likely that every morning will begin with a malasada or two :) The piece-de-resistance is, of course, the cabin itself. It really is the perfect get-away and every feature of the space is a representation of the care and mindfulness of its owner. The cabin is entirely off the grid: electricity is solar, water is from a rain catchment, and the stove is propane. Each installation is an example of how excellent and plentiful these resources are. I was amazed at the solar reserves' responsiveness to the sun. Hot water is on-demand and never runs out; I had a wonderfully hot shower every morning. We cooked every dinner on the propane stove and made incredible coffee on the french press. There is no wifi, but cellular services reach there and I was able to occasionally check the internet. There's a TV and DVD player with a wide and really quality selection of movies - we watched "Broken Flowers", "What the Bleep Do We Know", "The Prestige", and "Bruce Almighty"...there's something for everyone. The bed was very comfortable and there were plenty of fresh linens. We spent every night talking on the patio deck which is surrounded by a nice sized grass area (perfect for morning yoga) and a lovely tropical landscape humming with crickets and local birds. I could go on and on but instead I'll say that, above all, I found Connie's cabin inspirational with the spirit of mindfulness and creativity evident in every nook.

Your private hideaway
Here you’ll enjoy a spot removed from any traffic noise and lights. The cabin is behind a private gate and down a long lane. You’ll want to drive slowly every time you enter or leave to enjoy Connie’s work making the drive a bit of a botanical garden surrounded by natural forest. The only sounds you hear will be the crickets, birds, and rain on the roof. Enjoy your morning coffee on the back deck with the Saffron Finches, House Finches, Japanese White-eyes, Northern Cardinals, and Yellow-fronted Canaries. Reduce your travel impact by using solar power and rainwater.

Quiet and absolutely beautiful!
If you are looking for the ultimate getaway, this is it. Nothing but nature sounds to be heard and wonderful tropical greenery to be seen. Connie has created a property that we just enjoyed walking around on and taking photos. The cottage backs up to the Volcano National Forrest and we saw horned sheep grazing beyond the fence one morning among the bird songs. Within driving distance to either Hilo or Kona side of the Island. Highly recommend this property!

Lovely, clean, quiet and a place most of us need to visit
Connie is friendly and allows her rental to be enjoyed. She was available if needed but unobtrusive if that was our wish. She has a unique property that allows for people to really relax and see and feel the beauty of Hawaii. In the journal at the house, over and over again people would talk about the break they felt from their busy lives and the fact that they connected with those they were with and the landscape. We spent 4 nights at her little house and it was perfect. It allows you to explore all things South, which is not the easiest place to access. South point /Ka Lae, Green sands beach/Papakolea, the turtles at black sands/Punalu 'u beach, and a about a 1/2 an hour drive to Two step/ Pu'uhonua O Honnaunau bay for excellent snorkeling. You should know that it was super clean and it had fun extra things (ie- tennis racket bug zapper). Being off the grid is good for the soul. You take nothing for granted and there is nothing like the quiet. Birds and geckos were fun to watch. Even saw a barn owl and Mouflon Sheep over the fence in Volcanoes National Park. Thank you Connie! Jill & Dana from Montana
