Exactly what our family was looking for. A quiet lakeside getaway close to Acadia. Cabin was rustic and clean. Lake was gorgeous. We will definitely be back.

Loved staying here with my family. Two children ages 4 & 7 loved the pier overlooking molasses pond. Fishing was great (sunfish), grilled, fires at night, heard loons and close to Bar Harbor. Shops are close by including lobster restaurants for take out! Everything was great! Cottage has everything needed! Money well spent for unforgettable memories!

The cabin was nice and so was the area. We really enjoyed the time at the lake there as well. Sunrises were very pretty and the kayaking was fun. We appreciate the memorable visit.

Great location to disconnect and unwind. Beautiful waterfront views

We had a lovely time and your cabin. The location was beautiful. We enjoyed it very much. Also the nature and the lake were beautiful. We had a lovely swim and my wife a short canoe trip. It was clean, cosy, spacious and the beds were good. Only the fact that the bedrooms had no ceiling was our only point of critique. We enjoyed ourselves very much and would have liked to stay longer.

We had a nice stay. It’s very secluded and peaceful! The only complaint I have is there was no AC and it was quite warm and there is no mention in the listing about no AC. There were fans available which helped, but we just wish we had known ahead of time. Other than that it was great and the drive to Acadia was easy each day!

Reading by the woodstove and enjoying the incredible platform patio on the rock or our favorite things to do at this camp.

Had a great vacation in Maine. Cottage has everything you need. Our 12 and 8 year boys had a good time. They loved the board games and the lake side. Very good location and value. Kids want to go back already!
Thanks

The cabin was very well maintained. The cleanliness was great. The property owner was very attentive. We were one house off when we arrived and Mike the property owner arrived at the cabin to make sure it was unlocked for us.
Very well done Thank you very much and God Bless!

Great little cabin that takes you back in time with countless vintage accents. We had a great time staying here. Kids braved the cold water and jumped off the rock dock. Loved the wood stove at night. Very quiet and peaceful. Thanks.

Incredible location right on the lake. Listing and photos do not do it justice. Loved our 3 night stay here. Sunny early Fall weather meant we could swim in the lake, canoe and kayak with supplied boats (inc lifejackets if needed). Good sized wooded garden leading down to lake. Cabin was a good size and charmingly rustic, queen bed a little soft and lumpy and sofa also a little old, but didn’t detract from a well kitted out cabin in the woods, wood burning stove for chilly evenings and roasting smores on the fire pit outside, beautiful sunrises l, loved the private “island” rock to sunbathe on and easy access to Acadia National Park, would definitely recommend.

This property was absolutely gorgeous, tucked away but not too hard to find, the lake was lovely and the deck was just magical. The house is dated but cute, comfortable fit for the 4 of us. The check-in process was a bit confusing because there weren't any instructions and, when we arrived, the property manager was inside the house. The property manager was very friendly and responsive, especially when we lost power in a storm. He came by quickly to bring us firewood for the wood stove and to hook up a generator for us which we really appreciated. Our only complaint was that the house was not well-cleaned. Most of the surfaces were sticky, many of the dishes were poorly washed or in poor condition, some surfaces were dusty. There were odd items left around including a used toothbrush in the bathroom and a pot of baked beans left in the fridge. That being said, the beds were clean and comfortable and we did enjoy our stay!

This is a great place to spend extra time around a visit to Acadia. We have never been anywhere that was so quiet. Amenities were fine, although the double bed mattress has enjoyed better days. The deck out on the lake is fabulous. Lots of comfortable lawn chairs.

My parents and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. We spent 2 days and 3 nights here during our trip to Acadia National Park. We couldn’t have chosen a better place for our stay. It was in a beautiful location, right on the water. My dad and I had our coffee out on the dock every morning. If we ever make our way up to Maine again (we’re from Saratoga, NY), we will definitely be looking to stay here.

While the location was amazing and we really enjoyed swimming around the boulders, the house left much to be desired. The mattresses were intolerable. They should be thrown out. The house was dirty. Dirt and cobwebs. I found mouse poop in the silverware tray, ants in the house and there was even a small mushroom growing in the bathroom.
This place could be amazing, but it needs to meet the basic requirements of providing a comfortable bed to sleep upon and a clean and well-appointed house.
The location is really wonderful. If the owner gets new mattresses and hires a professional to do a thorough cleaning it will be doable. If he doesn't do that I would suggest one bring a tent.
Lastly, and this is beyond the owner's control, the neighbor to one side must be building his own camp as he had a large tractor and a saw going much of the time. That was unfortunate and cut into the peace and quiet.
Despite all this we still managed to enjoy our week of vacation, saw loons and eagles, and kayaked. We had to leave early, however, as the beds were really intolerable.

I hate to leave a negative review but I have to be honest. The cabin was a huge disappointment. It didn't help that we had rain which contributed to the extreme dampness of the property. I was unable to sit on the upholstered furniture as it was very wet to the touch! The bathroom floor stayed continuously wet. The bedrooms did not have ceilings, everything was open. I think this definitely should have been mentioned in the property description. I reached out to the property manager and suggested the owners invest in some sort of dehumidifying system. He seemed less than concerned that our stay was uncomfortable. We left three days early. Cannot recommend!!!

Overall a good experience - we mostly used the cottage for sleeping and eating while exploring the area including Bangor, Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park.
The cottage while small was well cleaned and overall very nicely kept. We didn't message the number for Mike that was given to us and didn't receive a response. It wasn't a huge deal but would have been nice to have one. Also the walls on the bedrooms did not extend to the ceiling so while there was visual privacy there was not always acoustical privacy. I didn't mind this that much but there were some in my party who would have preferred more privacy. We were two couples travelling together.

This was the second time we visited this cabin. it is a very cozy and comfortable place to come and relax— The setting is just magnificent -we enjoyed having a coffee on the rock watching the sunrise in the morning -then hiking and going on adventures at Acadia and the surrounding area- and having a campfire and roasting hotdogs at night under the beautiful sky starlet sky! Everything about it is just so relaxing can’t wait to come back!! Just a magical place!!

I can’t say enough good things about our experience

It was very cold, 40 degrees according to the outdoor thermometer, I hope the owner fixed the heater in the bathroom. The early morning view was so beautiful and I’m glad that we were there to see that!!

We had a good time at the camp as it met our interests of open water swimming and kayaking and was close enough to Acadia.
This camp has great access to Molasses Pond, which is great for swimming and kayaking. It has a unique feature a deck build onto a boulder in the pond, great for morning coffee as it has eastern light. We spent a good deal of time outside on the pond or the house deck.
The location is convenient as It is about an hour driving distance to Ellsworth, Mount Desert Island, and Acadia. There are other hikes in the area, such as Tunk Pond and other trails. In August we picked lots of blueberries right on the property.
The camp itself is basic, somewhat older, and in mixed condition. It could use some maintenance and upgrades to match the outstanding location and views.

Not Clean, Missing Basic Amenities
We were very excited about staying here for our trip to Maine. The listing showed the nice, private location on a lake. It is beautiful. Unfortunately, when we unpacked the car and headed inside, we quickly realized the cabin wasn’t well cleaned. There was debris all over the floors, so we spend our first 20 minutes vacuuming. The furniture upholstery was stained and dirty, the beds had visible dips in the middle, and the table surfaces were sticky. The bathroom wasn’t much better, and was missing basic amenities like soap, backup toilet paper (only 1/2 roll in the house… not ideal for a family of 5 for 3 nights), and not enough wash clothes and towels. The cabin needs a thorough deep clean and frankly new furniture, bedding, towels, etc. Based on the condition on the cabin, we decided we couldn’t stay there and notified the owner (first time since using VRBO we had to do this). The owner was surprised, but agreed to a partial refund. It took a couple weeks, but I just got confirmation of the partial refund. We’re thankful for that, and the owner did try to make it right for us. Basic cleanliness and amenities are a must for any rental property. For that reason, I would not recommend this cabin until the owners addresses the issues.

Weekend away
Absolutely loved staring out at Molasses Pond and soaking in the Maine outdoors. Would have loved to take a swim if the weather were a bit warmer, but I suppose we'll have to come back! A great getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city. Quick, scenic drive to Acadia/Mt Desert Island. Easy access to Ellsworth for grocery, etc.

Just perfect. The host thought of everything. We couldn’t be happier. I’m tempted to leave a bad review (JUST KIDDING) so we can hide it for ourselves. We loved it that much

Quiet, peaceful getaway!!
We enjoyed our stay at Molasses Pond. The furniture needs a bit of upgrading because there's not much cushioning in the chairs in den but other than that was fine. It's so quiet outside here, you can hear yourself think! Can't remember the last time we have been anywhere SO quiet! It was great! Heard the loons and they sat on a rock close to the deck quite often. Sunrise and moonrise were awesome!!!

Staying at Molasses Pond was effortless and the cozy cottage was well appointed. When we could not find a lobster pot the owners gladly dropped off their own for us to borrow. Great day trip accessibility to Bar Harbor and Acadia but a wonderful place to enjoy a more relaxed day on the beautiful pond as well

Overall was a fine stay
Cabin was mostly clean and comfortable (lots of dead bugs) however neighbors were pretty loud. Even with doors and windows closed, could hear them clearly...talking, chopping, sawing, always doing something noisy. Dish TV was pretty annoying as channels just didn't load or come in when unwinding at the end of the day. Poor selection of videos and dvds. No wood readily available for small wood stove fire. Didnt realize no toiletries provided at all, but appreciated there were linens provided. Kitchen was fine for us to cook meals.
