About this house rental
We rent our once and future retirement home out by the week or month. The home is located at the foot of Sandia Mountain above Albuquerque.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V1zmP5IdccQ
With a pool that commands both city and mountain views, our Casa is the perfect-size (four bedroom) and place to vacation. Relax or roam! We are minutes from the Sandia Tram and minutes from one of New Mexico's seven Wildlife Reserves. Skiing is right behind the house up the Sandia Tram often through March (some skiing in May of 2019!)
There are mountain hiking trails (through the arroyos) a very available biking and jogging trail to to say nothing about being just ten minutes from a Starbucks, Barnes and Noble and great restaurants. We also have Trader Joes nearby and a Whole Foods in the area. The setting is high desert (eight to nine degrees cooler than Albuquerque), one hundred yards from the surrounding national park and Indian lands. (The Pueblo of Sandia).
Quail, roadrunners, foxes and a vast array of songbirds can be heard in the deep silence. The Indiana lands enclose sacred sites (They also run a casino) Just 45 minutes from Santa Fe, Casa Griffin is 20 minutes from the Albuquerque airport and minutes from the Sandia Peak Tramway, the world's longest aerial tramway (skiing, spectacular setting, nice restaurants at the Peak) Albuquerque has Indian markets year round, and is host to hot air balloons, the University of New Mexico and other cultural attractions. It has also become one of the more popular golf destinations.
Besides visiting the many pueblos in the area, many day trips are available, such as visiting the natural wonders of Tent Rocks at Cochiti Lake (run by the Cochiti Pueblo) and Acoma America's Oldest Continually Inhabited City.
If you are travelling with children or grandchildren, Albuquerque has an amazing children's museum and aquarium (with a cafe that one can sip cokes and have grilled cheese or hamburgers while watching sharks and stingrays and many schools of fish! ) and an enchanting children's garden (complete with castle!) at their botanical garden.
The tramway up the mountain(Sandia Peak Tramway) is also an exciting trip for kids, unless it's balloon fest weekend, when the crowds make for one and two hour waits for the trip to the top. Good restaurant at the top. A fine Mexican restaurant below is a nice place to meet or wait for those taking the tram up the mountain.
Fully equipped including two mountain bikes, high speed internet access if you have a laptop. Guest account available for checking email on our computer. No pets. Pool available mid May-October. Please do not inquire for any period less than a week. It is a home to settle in if you are looking for a place to come home to after a day of adventures and activity. No smoking. No Vaping. Our home may not be used as a venue, ie. a wedding, large family reunion etc!. Of course we have many smaller reunions where guests come to visit family.
Or it is a comfy place to relax and just be in nature. It is also a place that writers have rented to work on their next mystery! Although our home sleeps eight, our normal rental is four to six. Best for a family, two to three couples, three to four golfers! We have four bedrooms. Two bedrooms have queen beds, two bedrooms have two twin beds. Our ideal rental is four to six guests. Although we do have the ability to sleep eight, in reality and ideally your party will have an infant or a child! four singles or two to three couples! We now list our home as sleeping six, we have two queen beds, and four twin beds. Because of the footprint of our home, we can most easily accommodate six adults, and a couple of kids under nine.

This home was a great place for my wife, our two dear friends and me to base our travels in North Central New Mexico. The home was large, inviting and the pool was a wonderful way for us to cool down after our busy days exploring the Albuquerque, Santa Fe and Taos areas. The mountains behind us were glorious as was the view of Albuquerque and its suburbs below. The home was within 8-10 minutes of I-25 and no more than a 25-minute drive to any place in Albuquerque, a 40-minute drive to Santa Fe and about 2 hours and 20 minutes from Taos. We are hoping to return in 2025!

The views from this home are breathtaking. Easy walking access to foothills and wilderness trails. The house is lovely, well appointed, and very comfortable & cozy. The neighborhood is quiet and safe. We had a very relaxing stay and loved the sunset views and nighttime views (stars galore). The owners were so kind and went out of their way to accommodate us. I highly recommend this home, and we plan to return again.

Perfect home for Mother and Father of the groom to stay with additional family members. Our son lives in the neighborhood, which made it that much more convenient to do all the prep work leading to his wedding day. Great place to hang out, pool was great, views are amazing. Saw mule deer nightly on property, also caught a Lynx running through the side yard one evening, very cool. Love all the quail, they are all over the place. Saw few bunnies too. If you have adult family members or a couples getaway coming up, this home has lots of room to space out or gather around together. Has all the conveniences of home and more. The sunsets are wonderful and the city lights are truly magical to view from the property. So happy with our stay, definitely would stay there again.

This place was incredible in the foothills of the Sandia mountains. It was so beautiful to see the city lights at night, and also the moon rising over the mountains, nestled in the backdrop of a spacious landscape. Added bonus, was the family of deer that would wander around the yard. It was very quiet, very serene, perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of Albuquerque. The house had everything including different areas to sit by yourself for a little peace and quiet. The owners were very responsive when we developed an issue with the garage door. They had someone come out the next day and fix it, which is awesome. We were all visiting from Michigan to visit our aunt that lives in Albuquerque. I know that when we come back, we would love to come back to this place, it was truly remarkable. Thank you for a wonderful place to stay

This property was the best! It was fully appointed with everything you needed for a stay from coffee to greet you to bath products. They had written instructions for the home along with great recommendations for various restaurants. The outdoor areas were fabulous and the views were breathtaking!! The pool was a lovely place to relax. Checking in and out was a breeze. Communication with the homeowners was easy and you always received a prompt answer. This property checks all the boxes and more!!

Very peaceful with the sounds of the wildlife and the breezes of the evenings. Comfortable and cozy. Pool was great addition after a hot day of hiking. View of the mountains and the city skyline. Nice large TV for those that like TV.

Amazing communication, easy check-in, and the views....AH-MAY-ZING!!! This home was perfect for the family, the boys loved the pool and the views during the 4th of July fireworks allowed us the opportunity to see all the displays throughout all parts of the city. The home is perfectly located in a quiet neighborhood at the base of the mountain with easy access to main roadways and highways. From the heights to the south valley or west side in less than 30 minutes was a typical commute to visit our family and friends. We would absolutely choose this property for a future stay.

Casa Griffin lovely stay
This home is well-loved. It is comfortable and easy to arrive and settle-in. The kitchen is well-stocked with supplies, as are the bedrooms/baths in terms of towels, bedding and paper products. The enclosed porch was our favorite place to eat, looking out over the pool and the view of the hills and city beyond.

Perfect staycation
We came from Santa Fe to have a week staycation. It was perfect. We spent hours in the pool everyday. Also did a lot of early morning trail hiking and even picked prickly pears on out hikes for evening cocktails. The night tome city views were great, it felt like an LA view. Home exceptionally well stocked. We cooked most of our meals and had ever utensil, pot pan etc we could possibly need. Hosts very responsive and friendly !

Great Location with Beautiful Views
This is the first time we tried VRBO and we loved the property! It is in a beautiful location at the base of the Sandia Mountain and has great views from every direction. Trails and hiking were so convenient. But, our favorite was the pool! The owners - Moira and Andrew - were gracious and kind and made our stay wonderful! Thank you!

Beautiful View
We were not able to receive check in information until the day before our stay, so I got a bit anxious. After voicing this issue with the owners I was told they were going to change this process.
The property is beautiful and the views are spectacular. Plenty of room for our party of 7.

Great stay at Casa Griffin
We are regular visitors to Albuquerque, but this was our first stay at this lovely home at the base of the Sandia mountains. Moira is a perfect host, inviting us to treat her home as if it were our own, from the pool to the espresso maker/frother (nice touch!) to the mountain bikes -- and a delicious bottle of Sangiovese. For our family, coming to the area for a wedding in Sandia Heights, the location was perfect, and it was noticeably cooler than the August temperatures in the valley. Sunsets over the valley were beautiful. The large kitchen was fully equipped and, hey, who knew that feeding koi was such fun? Thank you, Moira, for all the contact and consideration!

A little piece of heaven at the foothills of the Sandia Mountains
We have just turned from a magical stay at Casa Griffin! We have been staying in rental homes for our last five vacations, and this, by far, was the best ever. Andrew and Moira, our hosts, were beyond incredible. Moira handles the communications, and she was extremely responsive. By the time we finished the necessary e-mail correspondence, I felt we were great friends, and had known each other for years. Every detail was well organized and executed, even to the level of the provision of overnight, stamped mailers for the signed contract, and return of the very helpful information packet and keys. Moira makes her guests feel as though her home is their own, encouraging checking cabinets for things you might need!
Our stay spanned the winter holidays, and provided a wonderful weather break from the frigid northeast. We arrived late on Christmas Eve, and as we approached the spectacular hilltop location, with stunning views of the blinking lights of Albuquerque below, we watched as 4 does and a large buck crossed the road in front of us. A magical welcome! Upon entering the home, we were greeted with some lovely edible treats, which we really appreciated as all the stores were closed. This might have been a Christmas treat, not offered at other times of the year, but it was wonderful.
We were traveling with our four adult kids, and our daughter-in-law, and the accommodations were perfect! All beds were very comfortable, and the two queen bedrooms and two twin bedrooms worked perfectly for our group of 7. The house is equipped with absolutely everything we needed, the kitchen is spectacular, and living spaces ample and comfortable. The views from the house are unparalleled in Albuquerque, and sunrises and sunsets quite memorable. Sipping strong coffee and watching the sunrise, and sipping good wine for the sunsets, what more could one ask for in a vacation home.
In between, we visited many unforgettable hiking areas and "attractions"......Ghost Ranch, where Georgia O'Keefe lived, Sky City, the oldest inhabited Native American pueblo, Tent Rocks, Santa Fe, the Georgia O'Keefe Museum, Malpais National monument, as well as spectacular hikes in the Cibloa National Forest, just minutes away from our "home." We stayed so busy. In what little down time we had, we took walks around the mountainside neighborhood, played board games, and enjoyed amazing 55 degree days. All of us would say that we would love to return. Many thanks to our gracious hosts!

Magnificent vacation home!
This was our family's third stay in this lovely home. The views of the magnificent Albuquerque sunsets and Sandia mountains cannot be beat. Watch the "lights of Albuquerque" turn on or storms roll across the skies from the home's grand picture window. This home is comfortable, clean and serene. The kids love the sparkling blue swimming pool and gorgeous backyard. The deck continues to be a favorite spot of mine for sunrise views and a cup of coffee. Views of Albuquerque are unsurpassed as you walk through the neighborhood (bikes are available too). Great shopping and restaurants are close in proximity. Truly, we are thrilled we could stay in this beautiful home again.

Stunning views! Great location! Endless charm!
Our family had the pleasure of returning to Albuquerque and we were thrilled that we could stay in this incredible home once again. Truthfully, we can't imagine staying anywhere else, even with the over 150 choices on "HomeAway''s" website. The homeowners are extremely kind and thoughtful! The house has everything you would need and more, with it being extremely well maintained. The beds and pillows are very comfortable! The views are spectacular from every view of the home! Our family loves the layout of the home and it's charm! We ate breakfast outside on the back patio by the fishpond and our lunches by the pool. Personally, one of my favorite things to do at this home, is not to sleep in but get up early to enjoy coffee on their magnificent deck and watch the sun come over the Sandia Mountains-it never gets old! We also enjoyed leisurely walks around the serene neighborhood, taking in more breathtaking views. There are bicycles you can borrow, helmets too, and get in a great ride around the neighborhood or hop on the bike path, a short distance away. There is so much to see and do in Albuquerque and there are restaurants galore with amazing food, but you could just stay put in this home and be perfectly content.
Our warmest regards to the homeowners for having us!

"once again your home has provided us with many happy and serene hours. No matter which way we turned the beauty surrounding us always amazed us and elevated our emotions. Perfect therapy not only for the body but also for the soul. This without a doubt will be a repeat place to get away from it all. If God was to retire, I believe this would be his spotl Our very Best to you both"

All of the comforts of home and so much more.
Our family of six vacationed in Albuquerque this summer to visit family. We really enjoyed the comfort and exquisite amenities this home features. The location of this home is ideal, easily accessible to grocery stores, coffee shops, bike/walking paths, Albuquerque attractions and especially picturesque views! The owners of this home were a pleasure to work with. They were very thoughtful and considerate as well as thorough in the information they provided about their home and the Albuquerque area.
Some of our favorite things about this home were the lovely picture windows to observe day and night time views of Albuquerque, absolutely beautiful! My husband and I enjoyed watching storms roll over the Albuquerque skyline. We could not wait to get up and watch the presentation of colors displayed on the mountains, as the sun rose each morning, from one of the impressive patios or deck. In the evening, we enjoyed walking around the serene neighborhood and watching the exquisite sunsets. Our children thoroughly enjoyed the stunning swimming pool. During our stay, our two year old marveled at the fish pond and took great pleasure in feeding the fish with her grandpa. Several varieties of birds ate from the feeders, even a roadrunner stopped by to eat. We enjoyed cooking in the backyard and often ate our evening meals in the dining room as it too had fabulous views of the attractive backyard and mountains.
After a visit to New Mexico, you will understand why they call it “The Land of Enchantment.” We would highly recommend this wonderful home to anyone planning a stay in Albuquerque. The property is clean, comfortable and very well maintained. The home had everything we needed and then some. I imagine this home is just as impressive in the winter time. We had a wonderful time in Albuquerque and our family couldn’t have been more pleased with our exceptional accommodations.
Our kindest regards to the owners.

Welcoming "Home Away from Home"
Our stay at Casa Griffin made for a wonderful family vacation. Eight of us -- two sets of parents with two children each – were absolutely comfortable in this spacious home. The pictures really don’t do justice to the space and layout of the home. There is a lovely atrium room that the boys loved for doing crafts or playing games (the house is well stocked with classics like monopoly and others). The living room area is right off of the spacious and well-appointed kitchen, which makes meal prep time a social event – no one is trapped in the kitchen alone! The kitchen is one of the best stocked we’ve seen after several VRBO stays, and the cute watermelon accessories add a charmingly personal touch to the space. The kitchen was big enough that two to three people could work in there together, cooking and cleaning side-by-side (a real plus when feeding eight!). There were multiple options for where to dine after preparing the food – the dining area gave us a perfect setting for Father’s Day Brunch; other meals we opted to eat outside in the lovely garden area. The view of the mountains, sky, and city made the outdoors setting endlessly beautiful, and the four boys spent hours in the pool (which again was one of the best maintained we’ve seen at a VRBO). The sleeping arrangements were also commodious – two bedrooms perfect for couples, with two more that had two twin beds each, making them ideal for the kids. The three bathrooms meant that even with eight people in the house, facilities were never a problem. The office area was a godsend for the small business owner who had to do a little work during the week, Perhaps what set Casa Griffin apart from other VRBO’s was the clear sense that it was a home, well-cared for and loved by its owners. You felt like a guest, in the best sense of the term.
The location of the house is also a plus – getting to Old Town is a snap, and there a score of interesting restaurants closer to the house. Grocery stores are easily accessible too. The nearby Sandia Peaks area was restricted because of fire danger, but in other seasons would be another fantastic benefit to the location.
All eight of us had a wonderful, comfortable, memorable stay at Casa Griffin, and couldn’t be more grateful for the opportunity. The Griffins and their team were lovely to work with, responsive and gracious. We simply can’t recommend this location highly enough!

Family Christmas Gathering
The perfect place for a family gathering. The home is just as advertised. We had plenty of space and everything we needed to get comfortable, prepare holiday meals, and open gifts. And there was a separate room for completing jigsaw puzzles and playing board games. Views of the city lights are absolutely awesome! And the property is just far enough off the beaten track that we weren't bothered by traffic noise. We were there during a cold snap, so the pool wasn't usable and the fish pond was frozen over. It was very nice to be able to use the garage. We loved it!

We had a fantastic stay at this rental. The owners were very welcoming and updated us on all the important information needed to enjoy the home. The photos fully represented the home and its amenities.. We tried several nearby attractions, grocery stores and restaurants that were recommended by the owners. All were more than satisfactory. I would recommend this rental to anyone seeking a truly glorious vacation.

Enchanting
This was a perfect vacation retreat in one of the most beautiful settings I've ever seen. The city and mountain views are phenomenal. It was a joy to just look out the windows. We saw hummingbirds, hawks (Merlin Hawks?), quail, rabbits. It was fun to feed the koi. The house itself is gorgeous, spacious, comfortable, and completely stocked with just about anything you might need. There were hundreds of delightful little touches that made our stay very special. Thank you so much for sharing your lovely home.

Magical
Lovely home in a spectacular setting. We started each morning with a long walk through the nearby paths along the Sandia Mountain foothills, and ended each evening chatting by the pool or watching the hummingbirds on the patio. The nighttime view west to the city below is magical, as is the view east to the mountains and stars. (The patio was ideal for watching the Perseid meteor shower before sunrise on our first full day). You can see both the city and mountain views from the picture windows in the living room. The house itself is bright, clean, modern, and comfortable, with southwestern arts and crafts here and there - a treat for us Easterners. The kitchen is wonderful– with all the cooking/dining supplies needed for an elaborate supper or a quick breakfast before heading out. A perfect jumping off point for visiting Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Petroglyph National Monument, Bandolier, Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks and everything else the area has to offer. Highly recommended.

Jewel of a place in the hills north of Albuquerque
We decided to celebrate our family reunion in New Mexico this year and selected Casa Griffin as the place for us to rendez vous with family from Pennsylvania, the Bay area and Europe based on the description and the photos though the reality was even better. Everyone loved their stay there, the teenagers spent all their free time by the pool and as a result were charming company and the rest of us congregated at the house after our daily excursions. The pproperty was really well maintained, the house is beautifully appointed and furnished and was laid out so we all had space to be together and privacy when we wanted it. Beautiful views from the decks of the New Mexico mountains. The kitchen was really well appointed with everything a guest could want or need and there are even mountain bikes for us to use. We loved the location, away from the downtown area, with a feeling of being out in nature yet close to the freeway. The owners were very helpful including proving us with lots of helpful information before we arrived. We are already talking about coming back and would recommend this jewel of a place to anyone who is thinking about coming to New Mexico with a group of friends or family to spend and is looking for a relaxing and beautiful place to stay.

Albuquerque stay, 4 adults and 2 teens
The location is great. Close to Tramway Blvd so you have pretty quick access to both I-40 and I-25. The house has fabulous views of the city and great views of the mountains. You are also only about 5 minutes from the tram. The yard and pool are completely fenced so there was lots of privacy. The pool was crystal clear and the auto cover kept it clean when the wind kicked up (we only had it uncovered when we were using it). We had 4 adults and 2 teens in our group and there was lots of room for everyone. TV's with dvd players kept the teens happy. Two bikes were available in the garage, but we just walked the neighborhood and used the paved trail along Tramway. Starbucks was only ten minutes away too. The kitchen had lots of room and the appliances all worked great and there were plenty of utensils and cookware. Bathrooms were clean, towels provided, sheets clean, beds made when we arrived. There were even beach towels for the pool (we brought our own because we didn't know). There were also lots of notes on how to use thermostats, regarding food in pantry, etc. It made us feel more at home and less like we were intruding. We loved the house and we look forward to staying there on our next trip to Albuquerque. Try the tram, visit the zoo and the aquarium and the botanical gardens. Nob Hill and downtown have some great places to eat.
