About this house rental
Rumah Cinta, meaning the House Made of Love, is a large open-air home atop a ridge in Penestanan, at the edge of Ubud, close to the Camphuan Hotel. From the third story tower, you can see the sunrise, the sunset, volcanoes to the north, and the sea to the south. The rooms are large and airy, with large windows and doors that slide back to let the breezes through.
The first floor great room is large and beautifully furnished, with a living area and a reading nook with a view of the gardens and pool, and a Balinese-style kitchen: refrigerator, two-propane burners, but NO OVEN. The house is equipped with some cooking utensils and dishes, though the Balinese are such good cooks, you should rarely cook for yourself!!
The two downstairs bathrooms -- one off the great room and one off the downstairs bedroom -- are in lovely walled gardens with statuary and tropical plants.
The second-floor primary queen bedroom, which faces west for beautiful evening skies, has 2 decks with large sliding doors, an open-air bathroom, and a stairway to the tower and rooftop viewing area. Also upstairs is a second queen bedroom with an indoor half-bath.
Artistic touches are everywhere you look, both in the house and out. There are paintings by local artists, Indonesian carvings, carved wood and stone around windows and doors, high thatched ceilings and beautiful rock and tile work, all hand done.
This home is designed to be one with the outdoors, so even more beauty awaits you outside, where the gardens are dense but well tended, two temples protect the property, and the infinity-edge swimming pool offers a cool, calm retreat both daytime and at night. There are a toilet and a shower by the pool, in addition to the 4 bathrooms inside the house.
IMPORTANT -- PLEASE NOTE:
1) This home sits on a walking path high on a ridge -- its closest access from the main road is a flight of about 100 stairsteps. There are 3 other ways to get to the house, which involve many fewer stairsteps but longer paths from the road -- perhaps a 10-minute walk.
2) The house is designed to take advantage of the outdoors. It is outfitted with thick walls and breezy with ceiling fans, but it is not air-conditioned. And because I don't spray poisons on my land, you may have some geckos or other harmless critters pass through occasionally. .Please DO NOT RENT THIS HOUSE if any of these things will make you unhappy or uncomfortable.

Ruamh Cinta is an amazing villa in private, tranquil setting close to central Ubud. Indoor/Outdoor spaces flow perfectly and there are multiple places to relax. No need for air conditioning. We were very comfortbale with just the fans. There is a well stocked grocery store down the walking path and several excellent places to eat nearby.
The staff is outstanding, very responsive and worked as a team. Brooke provided WhatsApp contacts so we could arrange transport for several of our party coming from and going to various parts. Nandito Kadek was our main driver for these trip and he also took us on a fantastic tour of artisan workshops and temples around Ubud. We were all impressed by how he navigated Bali traffic patiently and flawlessly. Juli was also an excellent, safe driver. Made took great care of us at the villa.
Overall a really great stay. We highly recommend.

Villa is an 11 of 10 - minus the Air Conditioning makes an even 10 :) Our family had an amazing stay, travelling with children ages 13 and 11. The property is sprawling, plenty of room, and the ceiling fans brought plenty of breeze to in each room. Thank you, Brooke and team - hope to be back!

Beautiful villa in a quiet neighborhood with close proximity to an awesome cafe. Amazing rooftop views.

Brooke is a tremendous and gracious host. Staff is great. House is beyond compare, and very private. Pool is top notch. Neighborhood is good and safe. Motorcycle, although not required, will really help you make the most out of the area and Ubud in general because the walk to the main town or anywhere out of the neighborhood gets to be a bit much imho. That said, I look forward to staying here again.

Second time staying at the villa, Super place in a great location. Highly recommend. As the notes say, not a place to stay if you can’t manage lots of stairs, otherwise it’s brilliant.

This villa is outstanding! The location is so magical and awesome; walking thru the little trails to get to and from the villa was so rad. The house is perfect; the beds are wonderful; the pool is sooo refreshing and the grounds are so peaceful. We loved every minute we stayed here. The staff was fantastic; Made and her family were so helpful; I loved them. And Ubud is super cool. Walking distance to fun shops and great restaurants. I give ALL the stars! I cannot wait to go back. Thank you, Brooke, Made, Juli, everyone for being so warm and inviting. This home is truly a special gem! Tirema kasih😊🙏

An idyllic and peaceful vacation retreat in the best section of Ubud. The house garden and pool are beautifully designed and I was so comfortable staying within easy walking distance of everything important. The sunrise and sunset views from the top of the house are unparalleled in the neighborhood. This is a truly stunningly gorgeous house and I count myself extremely fortunate to have had a chance to vacation here. My hosts were perfect in their support and service to me. I am so grateful. I hope to return. Thank you.

Super house in an excellent location on the edge of Ubud. Right next door to Intuitive Flow yoga.
Easy to get around and wandering the narrow walkways a highlight of the area. Very helpful staff. The pics on the listing don’t do it justice. One if the best views you will get in Ubud from the tower. If you can’t handle stairs it would be a challenge. Would definitely stay again.

This villa is gorgeous - difficult to get to with no car access and a decent amount of steps to get up but once you're there it doesn't matter as you never want to leave! Huge bedrooms, incredible outdoor bathrooms, great pool and outdoor dining room...it really is a very special place! And Ketut the manager and Juli the driver are amazing and will make anything happen for you - from in-villa massages and dinners to tours wheverever you want to go! Brilliant stay and brilliant people...just wish we were there longer!

The property itself is beautiful although it could do with some mosquito plug ins around the house as they’re a lot of open to the outside window surrounds etc. It is good for a group of friends or families with older children who want to hang out at the pool which was lovely. We wanted to spend time in Ubud and it was challenging to get taxis. We did the forty minute walk three times and it was a little hard particularly going back from Ubud and when it was dark/raining. I would also recommend that the description of the property includes the fact that you will be potentially going up and down a long flight of stairs whenever you want to go to Ubud. Note that the traffic over Christmas is horrendous so this place is better for those who can get mopeds or walk longer distances, as varied food options in the area are limited unless you are vegetarian/vegan. The housekeeping/management staff were super and Made in particular looked after me when I got terrible food poisoning on New Year’s Eve. Her brother was great too arranging trips and airport transfers and stayed very calm when we got stuck in Ubud traffic for over an hour!

This place was a peaceful heaven in one of the oldest parts of Ubud. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a lovely spot to discover the town. With a yoga studio beside the villa and the Yellow Flower cafe just 100metres from the front door - one of the best cafes in Ubud. The staff were exceptional and made us feel at home.

My wife and I stayed here for 2 amazing weeks for our honeymoon. The house itself is more than big enough for a group, downright luxurious for a couple. We enjoyed the pool immensely. Loved the outdoor spaces, eating area, lounge platform next to the pool. Made was an absolute gem of a house manager. Breakfasts were so tasty and freshly prepared. She kept the place spotless and was so helpful with laundry as well. The neighborhood is so lovely with a couple eateries like Yellow flower cafe so close by. The stairs are something to consider only if you're really out of shape or really lazy. The place is truly an oasis. We genuinely can't wait to go back there!

The biggest and most beautiful villa from Ubud! Absolutely gorgeous with a traditional balinese style but all modern accommodations and very clean. Rumah Cinta villa is stunning, much better than on the pictures. You will for sure stay speechless as soon as you enter, and feel at home immediately since so cosy. A real crush for this villa, also ideally located in a very lovely and quiet place but at walking distance of all Ubud sightseing's (temples, monkey forest, Blanco museum, Campuhan Ridge walk, ...) and nice restaurants (Indonesian + European food), spa, yoga at less than 1 minute walk.
Special thanks also to Made for the delicious cooking (breakfast & diner) and make the villa so clean everyday, and her brother Juli for the drives/guide outside Ubud with lots of explanations and sharing of Balinese culture. Many thanks also for such great kindness and smiles!
We spent a magical week at Rumah Cinta with our 2 teenagers, everything was absolutely perfect. This is definitely the place to stay at Ubud !!! Terima kasih !
Last but not least, thanks also to Brooke, our super host, lovely and very reactive, for allowing us to stay in your amazing villa!

Beyond our expectations!
Everything about our stay at Rumah Cinta was incredible. The house and garden were immaculate and the caretakers of the property were wonderful. The property is far enough away from the main road that it is peaceful and quiet, but close enough that it was super easy to get around. I'm already dreaming about going back... Thank you

The pool and gardens are well maintained and the host made us feel very comfortable. The local restaurants and bars are all within walking distance. I couldn't imagine a better place to stay in Ubud. I will certianly book this house again when I return.

Lovely Ubud paradise
The home is more beautiful than it shows on the photograph. It really felt like our private slice of paradise. Ketut and Made, the house keepers, made it all the more special because they were kind and helpful.

Rumah Cinta stair way to heaven
Every step is worth it, this beautiful home perched at the top of the hill with beautiful panoramic views from the top! A gorgeous infinity pool and entertaining area, beautifully cared for gardens with an abundance of wild life getting on with there day. We stayed 5 nights it was very relaxing and quiet, Ketut and Made as well as her brother who was our driver are wonderful host, very helpful. Ibu Putu’s Warung is delicious try the chicken satay and corn fritters delicious. We requested dinner in the home one evening we ordered more then we could eat, great value and very good portions. I would recommend this to anyone wanting to escape the rat race you need to go no further then the stairs and you’ll find everything you need within walking distance of 10 minutes massage, yoga at your door step and plenty more. Thank you Brooke for allowing us to stay at your marvellous Home with Love

Gorgeous spot - hidden gem
A hidden hideaway just minutes from UBUD and yet in a secret garden on the hilltop. Moss covered statues and perfume tumbling flowers - book nooks to curl up around a heavenly pool. Perfect spot for families - lots of room to get away or be together. We’ll be back!

Beautiful
Beautiful home, beautiful place, beautiful people. Had a wonderful family holiday in Ubud. Close to the village and on the edge of Ubud, just far enough away to be peaceful and relaxing but easy walk into town. Ketut arranged our fantastic stay, Made's cooking was wonderful and Juli was our activity organizer and driver and looked after us very well. Thank you for the experience!

Spacious with Great Views
I went with a group of 4 and loved our stay at the villa. It was close to downtown, had an amazing view of the city and was extremely spacious. Also the women who cleaned the house were great. The only thing that was tough (although stated) are the steps up and down from the house. It’s takes a toll after awhile. Also based on how the house is set up, there will be a lot of bugs everywhere. Outside of that, we had an awesome time and would highly recommend.

Magical!
We absolutely loved our stay at Rumah Cinta! It's a unique and lovely property, with creative Balinese and design features throughout, and there aren't enough words to describe the serenity and peace of the garden and pool area - so welcoming and calming, especially after a day out and about or wandering the streets of town. The property manager, Ketut, who also designed and built Rumah Cinta (as well as several other villas in the area), and his wife, Made, took excellent care of us. Their attention to detail was marvelous. In addition, Made's brother Juli took us on day-long excursions to various parts of the island and couldn't have been kinder. We are so grateful. We also loved being steps away from the yoga studio, apparently the best one in the area, and we were definitely spoiled for choice when it comes to spas! The myriad walking paths of the village lend to the mystique and authenticity of the experience - no cars! - and make you feel miles away, though everything is right there within reach! All in all, it was a wonderful trip and a magical place! We will be back!!

Awesome Ubud retreat
My family of 5 stayed in this villa during December 2017. The villa was spacious enough for my kids 16,18,20 to escape each other when necessary but also to share some amazing time with each other and us. The outdoor space and pool are beyond awesome and our kids are currently trying to negotiate the same for our own backyard ! It was fantastic to return here and jump in the pool after a day out exploring Ubud and surrounding areas.
It is located within very easy access to Ubud, yet felt removed from the hustle and bustle when we wanted some quiet time. We loved the abilty to get transport or walk into Ubud and enjoyed the scenery, stores and local people on the way. Ketut, Made and their family were welcoming and ensured our time there was great. We can not thank them enough.
Overall, anyone of us would love to return here together or with other friends/family.

GREAT HOUSE AND EVEN BETTER CARE-TAKERS!
We absolutely loved our stay at the house. It is warm and very inviting! However, we loved Made (the care-taker) and her entire family even more! They were an absolute delight to work with and we thank them for making our trip so amazing! Made's bother Juli guided us for our entire stay and we are very lucky to have him. Again, we had simply an amazing time at this wonderful house and the wonderful people who took care of it!!

Beyond Excellent!
There were four of us who stayed at Rumah Cinta for exactly two weeks. Personally, I believe it is a minimum to really appreciate this unique property and its location, as well as at least this part of the island. We all loved our stay there! The pictures only hint at the artful, stylish, and generous comfort and luxury that surround any resident there. There is so much more to it than what they show! You have to experience it in person, and no photos will do justice to the singular beauty of this place. Forget the “Four Seasons” or any other high-end luxury hotels in Ubud or elsewhere in Bali! While technically this house can sleep more people, I believe that four is an ideal number. There is plenty of space for everybody, really beautiful architecture, and wonderful, very friendly caretakers. The infinity pool is a hit! The different lounging areas and a separate open-air dining “room” are beautiful spaces in addition to what the large house has to offer. There are (102, by my count) stairs to get to the house from the main road, but it serves only as a very nice buffer from the inevitable noise on the main drag. (You would walk on it some ten minutes to downtown Ubud, or take a taxi anywhere from the bottom of the stairs.) If we ever come back to Bali (which I very much hope for, despite our busy travel schedule), there is no other place I would want to stay at! And, have I already mentioned that next time I would like to stay there for three and not just two weeks?! ;]

Stairway to Paradise
Ubud has a commercial area that's both interesting and busy; so after a day of exploring, it's well worth climbing over 100 steps through beautiful greenery to the tranquility of Rumah Cinta. I can only echo previous reviews of this idyllic property. Ketut, Made, and Ibu Putu enhanced the experience with
Ketut's wise philosophy of life and great knowledge of sites and activities around Ubud; Made's charming hospitality and helpful advice; and Ibu Putu's delicious food - by far, the best we had in Bali. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Rumah Cinta and would love to come again some time.

A treasure
From the time we got to the stairs we new this was going to be a unique place. After the scenic walk along the path it got more interesting, once we opened the gate we were stunned! This place is magnificent, an architectural delight. From the "throne" at the top of the house watching the sunrise to the pool you cannot help but be impressed. The pictures tell only part of the story. Our only regret is that we should have stayed longer.

Luxury Pad!
First off, agree that the photos just cannot do this gorgeous place justice. We felt like Kings and Queens and were treated just as well by Ketut, Made and everyone around. Waking to the smell of incense lit at the altars, along with roosters and bird calls, was amazing. We went to the top temple daily to watch the sun or moon rise (jet lag does have its merits). The infinity pool was the ultimate treat upon coming home day or night from various sweaty adventures. We entertained friends in town for a wedding one night and all felt like royalty in such an amazing place. Having drinks at the outdoor table, with fans and chandelier overhead, is just one small memory I will cherish. Definitely a place to return to, next time with our daughter. And the location was fantastic! Having a taxi stand at the bottom of the steps made it easy to be whisked anywhere on a whim. We left for the Gilli's for exotic island living then off to Candi Dasa for a high end hotel experience but regret not spending more time at Rumah CIntah. Now, that's a vacation. THANK YOU BROOKE!

Stop looking, THIS is the place to stay
I can't add anything further to what pervious reviewers have mentioned, other then it's all so very true. Unbelievable beauty inside and out, perfect location. Close enough to everything yet far enough away for peace and tranquility. The manager Ketut and his wife Made (and his mom) made us feel as part of their family....very warm and friendly. We won't consider staying anywhere else while in Bali....

True Elegance
My wife and I had the pleasure of staying at Rumah Cinta in October 2010. This home is spacious, beautifully furnished, and we did not regret our choice even once, even when climbing the steps from the road. The infinity pool, the many day bed options beside the pool, on the terrace and inside the house were all standout features for us. The photos do not do full justice to the property and you should get the video walkthrough of the property to appreciate all it has to offer.
Ketut and Made were always helpful, delivering us tasty breakfasts and evening meals most days. There is no traffic noise, just the sound of roosters crowing to wake you early morning.

Amazing!
Pictures do not do this place justice. The most beautiful place we stayed while in Bali. The staff were amazing, everything was perfect, it really is a little piece of paradise. Thank you so much Made for making our girls getaway perfect. It was more than we could have hoped for! Hope to be back next year.
