Beautifully renovated and totally restyled downstairs private bedrooms in typical Jordaan house where we live. Located in one of the nicest area of Amsterdam, the Jordaan.
This B&B is in a part of a 20th century house which is in the oldest part of historical Amsterdam; the heart of City, the Jordaan. We live in a streets between 2 canals so there is no canal view, but a quite street. The pin on the VRBO map is an indication where we live but it's not a the canal!
We have tried to preserve the unique historical character of the building while using modern and old things like an old fashion boxbed in our souterrain, see the pictures. The house is completely renovated. Meaning a complete renovation with respect of all ancient details of the building, and a tasteful redecoration that represents style and quality.
You will find all you need to have a comfortable and pleasant stay in this apartment, on this marvelous spot in Amsterdam. A Nespresso and Airoccino is available with Nespresso cups and biological teas, watercooker and tooster. (Due to governmental regulation it's not allowed to have cooking facilities in the B&B). You can use the washing machine and dryer.
There are 2 bedrooms from which the second one is built as a romantic boxbed in the souterrain and can host up to maximum 4 persons. Both bedrooms has a double beds, in total for 4 persons. Outside you have your private and comfortable alley garden.
You don't need to bring linen or towels. It's all available.
All the important museums are close and can be reached by foot, bike, tram, car or boat. There is a great variety of restaurants and pubs in the area. The so-called 'bruine cafés' - typical Dutch pubs - are in great numbers available. What is more on walking distance: The Dam, The Nieuwmarkt, Rijksmuseum, van Goghmuseum, Flowermarket, Noordermarkt (biological market at Saturday), pubs, cinemas, a lot of nice (international) restaurants, theatres, the Anne Frank House, the Zoo, the red light district, many antique shops, famous art galleries, old churches, old synagogues, Waterloosquare, as well as the great shopping streets like the P.C. Hooftstraat, and many many more things to see and do! On the side of the IJ-harbour you can visit the new Library which is the biggest in Europe. (Also books in many languages available).
The central station is just a ten minutes walk from your apartment, which makes Schiphol Airport reachable within 30 minutes.
Come and enjoy the history, beauty and comfort of this great house!

Overall, this apartment was good. The location was wonderful and the living space was good. The shower in the bathroom was heavenly. The bedrooms however, were quite tight. There wasn’t any space to walk around the bed upstairs. You had to crawl across it to get to the other side. It was a double bed so it made for very cosy sleeping. There was a nice window to open, so the air was fresh. Another issue with the upstairs bedroom was that there was no space for storage. Some hooks on the walls so that we could hang our clothes would be handy. The bedroom in the basement also had a double bed. There was more room downstairs, but it was quite stuffy since there was no window. Also beware because the stairs to the basement bedroom are very steep.

My adult daughter and I stayed here for a few days on our visit to Amsterdam and could not have been happier! The property is excellent and had plenty of space for us to spread out. Check in and out was easy and it was so nice to have a washer and dryer. The location is great. The street is quiet, but it’s close to everything - the sights, the tram, restaurants, etc. I would highly recommend!

Pros: Walking distance to nice restaurants and the Anne Frank House. Very clean. Comfortable beds. Easy communication with host.
Cons: very tiny bathroom sink. Very Steep stairs down to lower bedroom (not for elderly or mobility challenged)

Great location
The places couldn't be better situated. It's a nice size and it has all you need for a couple of days.
The nespresso like machine is a godsend and a great addition.
The place is warm and really cozy and reasonably clean.
That said, the upstairs bedroom is incredibly small to the point that I'm not sure it even works for two people since there's no room left to walk around the bed. The bed goes literally from wall to wall.
Downstairs is fine if you use the dehumidifier.
The inside of the closets is kind of dirty and dusty, which it bothered me, but it might not bother other people.
The kitchen is not accurately portrayed in the photographs. It's just a microwave and a hot plate you'd have to put on top of the counter. We didn't have any issues with that though and again, the coffee maker is awesome.
The dryer (even though it said in other reviews it had been fixed) still didn't really fully dry clothes. And the water reservoir was full when we arrived.
This place just needs a bit more attention to detail to be a 5 stars location. But I do recommend it since it's a great location and the issues are "workable".

Great location!
Clean and comfortable. Perfect location to be close to the hub of the city, but just far enough to be in a very quiet spot.

I booked this apartment for me and my mom on a recent trip. The apartment is in a great, quiet neighborhood with shops and restaurants in walking distance.
The apartment was good. It was really nice to have to have a washer and dryer in the unit. The beds were very comfortable. The second bedroom is down semi-steep stairs so it might not be good for older people or children. The owner lives above the apartment so it was nice knowing they were nearby if anything came up. She stayed to meet us in person and gave us a walk-through of the unit and told us about the neighborhood.
Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would recommend staying here.

Charming area
The property was clean and neat! The location was unbeatable! Charming neighborhood located near many historic locations, bars and restaurants. The sleeping arrangements are a little tight but we made it work.

Arrival: Jolanda arranged for a housekeeper to meet us to check-in. We contacted the housekeeper before our scheduled time and notified her that we were on public transit and would be about 30 minutes late. She was in hurry, quickly gave us keys, explained that laundry would need to dry on drying racks, asked if that was “OK”, and quickly excused herself before we had a chance to look over the rest of the unit.
Cleanliness: All of the towels were wet and on a drying rack set up in the living room or in a load in the dryer. Trash was left in the kitchen and unit had not been swept or dusted. There was mold on basket in the bathroom. The space had a strong “musty” smell suggesting that ventilation was a major problem.
Laundry: The dryer in the unit was not effective. The reservoir had not been emptied before our arrival and the lint/condenser filters had not been cleaned in quite some time. But even after we took care of that the dryer was still very ineffective.
Accuracy of listing: The photographs of the kitchen and main living space do not accurately represent it. Some lighting fixtures were not working properly and kitchen appliances could use replacing. Although Jolanda mentioned in an e-mail that the cooking options were limited, she did not clarify that the photographs of the kitchen were not up-to-date. We arrived thinking that what she meant by “electric cooking plate” and “microwave” were what was depicted in the photographs but they were not. Also, the map location in VRBO suggests that the unit is located directly on a canal whereas this unit is one block off the canal.
Interaction with host: We contacted Jolanda shortly after we arrived to express our concerns. She was out of town and did not respond until about 24-hours later. She suggested that the trash left behind was actually from us and expressed concerns that we were late for check-in. She also claimed the address was listed on the VRBO listing (which it was not) so we should have known it was not located on the canal. I suggested that updated photographs and accurate map representation on VRBO could prevent future misperceptions but those suggestions were ignored (and still have been as these inaccuracies have not been changed). She offered to have the housekeeper come over to finish the laundry, but given how ineffective the dryer was and that we were leaving the next morning we declined. She responded by saying she did all that she could. Overall a disappointing interaction.

Most disappointing unit we had on our long summer trip. Thankfully, it was only a two-night stay.

Great location in Jordaan
Very grateful for the check in process, we arrived hours early and Jolanta let us in. We loved how close the location was to all the sites in Jordaan. It was spotless.

Nice and close to everything we wanted to see in Amsterdam, Jolanda was a lovely host.

Wonderful location
My husband and I stayed at Jolanda’s apartment for two nights with another couple. Communication with Jolanda was good. We arrived slightly early so dropped our bags and headed to the local bar - fab little place. Headed back an hour later but unfortunately the apartment still wasn’t ready (4.30). Not a problem. The apartment is perfectly located on a beautiful quiet street, 20 minutes walk from Centraal. The bedrooms are compact but comfortable - good mattresses and linen. The basement bedroom had a quiet aircon unit which was most welcome. The bathroom is tiny and products were not provided. There’s a very small outside space but it’s better than no outside space. On the whole a very enjoyable stay in a comfortable apartment in a wonderful area.

4 days in Amsterdam
Great stay in Amsterdam.
Centrally located in a quiet, safe neighbourhood. Any messages were answered quickly. Access to drop bags before entry time was appreciated.
Well fitted out apartment but bedrooms and double beds very small, early morning noise from other apartments!

Gem in the Jordaan
We were very happy with our accommodation for two adults and two teen granddaughters. It was quite efficient and the location couldn't be better! Loved hearing the birds sing in the garden and bells chime from Westerkirk!

Excellent apartment right in the heart of everything cool on Amsterdam. So close to everything and the neighborhood is so great!! Solid recommendation!!!

Authentic Amsterdam Experience
We loved the place! My daughter's literally "moved in" as soon as we arrived. The location and amenities were outstanding. Our family of 4 fit very comfortably and the place is charming. It is a five minute walk to the Anne Frank house and truly has a neighborhood feel. Access to all of the top sites of Amsterdam was very easy and we felt very safe walking around the city and neighborhood.
The only drawbacks were a spotty WiFi connection which was relevant because we were dependent upon WiFi for reviews of restaurants and maps to attractions. Also - make sure that you plan to manage your luggage if you are spending time in the city after the 11a check out. We asked to have our luggage remain on premises and were surprised to find that we were politely given a link to a luggage storage locker - lockamsterdam.com. The location and cost were prohibitive for us for a few hours we needed it.
OVERALL - fabulou place and experience. Thank you Jolanda

Amesterdam
My wife and I, as well as another couple with us, enjoyed Jolanda's place in the Jordann Old Centre in Amesterdam tremendously! The location could not be better for our interest and Jolanda could not have been a better landlord. Our initial concerns were that the 1st level bedroom was extremely small and the downstairs bedroom was a bit musty; however, we got used to them after the 1st night and there was no problem. Also, we were surprised that there was no ice and no way to make ice (the refrigerator had no freezer); however, we got used to the Amsterdam way and drank our drinks cool with no ice (a new experience for us)! The place was great and would recommend it to others.....
Also, as indicated above, Jolanda was a pleasure to deal with and a wonderful person! With her living upstairs and her checking on us occasionally made our stay even better.

Lovely home
Great location and great accommodations! Everything was ready when we arrived and Jolanda was very welcoming! It’s a lovely “Amsterdam” home—small apartment with steep basement steps, yet perfect for a true feel of staying in a local home! We were a group of 4 adults and there was plenty of room for all of us! The dampness mentioned earlier was not a problem. It’s Amsterdam!!! A well appointed home right down the block from a really great corner pub, and in a very quiet neighborhood! We appreciated everything this HomeAway had to offer!
