About this cabin rental
Our cozy cabin is located on peaceful Columbine Lake. The Private Columbine Lake Community is centrally located a few miles between historic downtown Grand Lake and Rocky Mountain National Park.
From our deck relax and enjoy the amazing unobstructed 180-degree views of Columbine lake and Mt. Baldy as you grill out, watch the hummingbirds at the feeder or a moose, deer, and/or fox that walk by almost every day.
The main floor has a fully equipped kitchen, a table that seats 8, and 2 bar stools at the counter. The open living room has 1 couch, 2 chairs, tv, and a small wood-burning stove to warm you on the cooler mornings or at night as gaze up at the stars through the large front windows. There's also gas and electric heat and a laundry room.
The main floor has 2 bedrooms with queen-sized beds and tvs and 2 full baths (one with a bathtub). The upstairs loft has a futon and rocking chair with a door separating it from the bedroom. The upstairs bedroom has 2 queen beds, 2 twins, TV and DVD player.
Our property is very safe and family-friendly, all railings are to code, it has many games for all ages, 2 adult bikes, helmets, pack n play, toddler bed rails, high chair, booster seat, safety gates and a safe yard for kids to play. There is plenty of parking in the driveway and room for a trailer (no parking is allowed on the road).
The quaint town of Grand Lake has something for everyone with over 60 shops, restaurants, and galleries along with many festivals and firework shows. In the summer, you can enjoy the beach, swimming, rent a paddleboard, paddleboat, kayak or pontoon boat or fishing on one of the beautiful lakes, Grand Lake, Shadow Lake, or Lake Granby. You can take in a show at the renowned Rocky Mountain Repertory Theater.
The entrance to Rocky Mtn Nat'l Park and the Kawuneeche Visitor Center is only 2 miles from our cabin where you can enjoy the amazing Trail Ridge Road drive that has breathtaking views from over 12,000 feet or one of the many hiking or biking trails and wildlife sightings the park has to offer.
Columbine Lake has the Grand Lake Golf Course, Nordic Ski Center and Sledding Hill, Sly Fox Restaurant, and hiking trails.
In the winter Grand Lake the "Snowmobiling Capital of Colorado". It transforms into a winter wonderland with miles and miles of trials. You can snowmobile from our cabin to over 100 miles of groomed trails or to town to one of the many restaurants for dinner. Cross country ski, snowshoe, or take the kiddos sledding at the GL Nordic Center only 1 mile from the cabin (rental equipment available). Afterward, enjoy sipping on hot chocolate, hot toddies, or soup at the clubhouse. Icefish on one of the 3 surrounding lakes, Grand, Shadow, and Granby. Snowboard and/or downhill ski at Granby Ranch Resort or even Dog Sledding, always a unique and memorable experience.
Columbine Lake is a private, covenant - controlled community. Renters are not allowed to use the clubhouse, gazebo, horse pasture, OHVs or Columbine Lake. Please plan on using one of the three local lakes only minutes away (Grand, Granby, and Shadow Mountain) for all your lake activities.
Smoking and Pets are not allowed.
We hope you enjoy our cabin and Grand Lake as much as we do and have a wonderful stay.
Sincerely,
Jack and Heather Larson

The view was beautiful and location is great for visiting Rocky Mountain National Park. The first night we arrived we got to see a momma moose and her baby in the back yard.

Our stay at this cabin was wonderful! The setting is very peaceful, with a beautiful view of Columbine Lake. The cabin is very comfortable and stocked with everything we needed.

I was looking for a cabin with a lake view that my handicap parents could enjoy with us. While it is not specifically listed for handicapped, it worked out nicely for their limited mobility. We all enjoyed the views and the lovely patio area and spent quite a bit of time out there.
At first we were disappointed not to be able to use the lake next to the cabin, but took our paddle boards to Shadow Mountain and had fun exploring there. Not a big deal though, it ended up being a fun alternative. I did appreciate the advanced notice about not being able to use Columbine Lake.
We enjoyed our time at the lake! Loved the cabin, would stay there again! Thank you!

The property is well kept, and there were spaces and places to store the luggage and hooks to hang gear and clothing. Good property with great outside views. We enjoyed it very much.

This property is a great location for your trip to the west side of RMNP. We were able to see a lot of wildlife on this side of the park (moose and elk) with just a very short drive. It is also conveniently located to the very charming town of Grand Lake.
Enjoy a more laid back environment than the east side of the park. The deck was fabulous for morning coffee and star viewing.

We’ve stayed in many short term rentals on various vacations and I can honestly say that this is the nicest place we have ever stayed. Extremely well-equipped and well-maintained home with an unbelievable view. Tremendous value. Very nice owners. Can’t recommend it enough.

Easy access to RMNP at Kawuneeche Valley entrance (remember to pay attention to timed entry requirements). We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.

We stayed here 3 nights ...and this is one of the nicest ones (among a dozen i have stayed at in the past 3-4 yrs). Comfortable rooms, nice linens, kitchen with all the amenities and a great top floor bedroom if you have kids! But the showstopper is the gantastic deck overlooking columbine lake! Communication with owners was prompt and crisp- thank you Heather and Jack, my family now has some fantastic memories to take back with us !!

House was perfect for us. It’s next door to RMNP, but we didn’t need to leave the deck for incredible mountain views. The house, kitchen, and bathrooms were well stocked with everything we needed.

Spent our spring break in this wonderful house and the views were awesome. We cooked several meals throughout our week long stay and we had every utensil, pot or cookware we needed. The owners were a phone call away if any issues came up and Grand Lake is such a nice little town. Our kids enjoyed the snow and we would love to come back in the summer time.

The location of this cabin was beautiful, we had any supplies we would need including high quality pots/pans, there was plenty of space for our 2 families of 4 (8 people total). We took walks to the frozen lake, drove to RMNP, shopped and ice skated in Grand Lake, etc. It was great! We would happily stay another time.

I was looking for a place that would be similar to going on a hut trip- something with huge windows and a great view and a wood burning stove. This place fit the bill perfectly. It's very cozy and was a great place for a family getaway.

Beautiful, spotless and cozy. The view over the lake is spectacular. We travel into the mountains often and this place is tops.

This property was a pleasant surprise. We were completely comfortable in all of its amenities. There were so many extras available at the house, it made it very homey and convenient. Everything worked properly, close to Rocky Mountain, national Forest, and downtown. BUT THE VIEW WAS SPECTACULAR. I WOULD GO BACK IN A HEARTBEAT THANK YOU FOR THIS WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE.

Floor to ceiling windows that make you feel like you are out in nature even when you are inside.
Beautiful sunrise views and amazing light on the lake and trees at sunset. And with the house lights turned off late at night, you can actually stargaze from the living room sofa!
Great location and very comfortable home with everything you need for a worry free, wonderful stay. Owners are very responsive and have given a lot of thought to the details, making this an exceptional property!

The cabin was cute and the location and views were terrific! The downside is the blazing sun that really overheats this cute cabin. The owner provided tips on how to cool down the upstairs and that was helpful, however, black out shades or mini split a/c units are suggested to help reduce the heat. We visited in the last week of September and I couldn’t imagine what it would be like during the summer. Also, suggest the owner add coffee and cooking spray/oil to the pantry.

As advertised, the view was wonderful. Property was clean and well maintained. The kitchen was well stock as well as the rest of the cabin. Location was perfect for visiting RMNP.
We also enjoyed just strolling around the lake. We had visitors in the back our first day, mule deer but no moose. We hope to see one next year as we are already looking forward to returning.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay on Columbine Lake. The ease of getting into Grand Lake and RMNP was wonderful! Ample room for our party of 4. Kitchen had everything we needed. Deck and the views were amazing. Watched the Blue Moon rising from the deck. Had a bull moose and some deer come visit. We’d love to come back again!

Wonderful home with all the items one needs. The deck view and furniture is outstanding. The house got very warm in the daytime. But, the deck makes up for it. This was our second stay!
