Our extended family of 20 visited for a week in July. From the beginning, the host was available to answer all of my many questions about the rental and IOP. She was very flexible and overly accommodating. Upon arrival we found the property to be extremely clean and well kept. There was more than enough room to accommodate our entire group. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed to make large group meals. The proximity to the beach was great. We were able to come and go from the beach with ease. We rented bikes and a large golf cart for exploring around Wild Dunes. The Wild Dunes amenities were a wonderful added bonus for our large group. It allowed us all to split up and do different activities throughout the day. The staff at Wild Dunes was great. There were a few very minor maintenance issues at the house and the staff responded very quickly and took care of each issue in a very timely manner. The concierge and shuttle service was also very helpful for a large group. When showering after the beach we never ran out of hot water which was great for the number of people we had. There are a lot of stairs so it is something to keep in mind for older guests. Overall, our vacation was a 10 out of 10! The house was great and so were all of the amenities.

Our family of 6 has had an annual beach trip for many years. We have grown from a family of 6 to a family of 16. Our 6 grandchildren (ages 7-12) think the house is their beach house. We have outgrown 3 homes in Wild Dunes over the last 11 years. We have found the ideal family home for 16 and we’ve stayed here for 5 years in a row. It is well equipped for a large family. Plenty of bedrooms, close to the beach, and plenty of books, puzzles, and games for family activities. Lauren even added a second refrigerator on the 2nd floor. We’ve already booked the house for the 6th time for next summer. Keith

Overall the house was perfect for our big family. We had people travel in from the Carolina’s and Florida. 19 people in total ranging from 4 to 75. There was plenty of space for everyone to gather, or have their quiet time. The only complaint we had was the amount of towels and toilet paper, but we did read on the last day that we could have called to have that stuff delivered. Oh well…

Everything was perfect! The house was close to beach. All of us had our own rooms. The kitchen was fully stocked. We enjoyed the decks, ping pong table, all the details that made our stay so pleasant. We would definitely rent this house again!

Eleven of us met for a two-day leadership development workshop. We needed separate accommodations and bathrooms and a nice large meeting area for our daily work. The house was perfect (though we would have preferred to each have our own bathroom). The living room area was well lit and the television provided a perfect PowerPoint presentation situation for the room.

Wonderful house for our group of 18, we had a wonderful time and used house from top to bottom. The four 20-24 year olds made much use of the ping pong table and hangout space on the ground level as well as the roof top deck. The gathering spaces were perfect for family gatherings in the living room, dining room and deck. The kitchen was stocked with more than we could imagine and had everything we needed for large family dinners.

Wonderful house, plenty of space for everyone and close to beach. Had an awesome time!!

Great week. 19 of us included 5 little ones 7-2 years of age. Location to the beach was awesome…less than 5 minutes. House offers great views of the ocean. Only draw back is the house has four flights of stairs…I counted. House has an elevator but not for guest use. We are all active and fit but those stairs were tough daily. Overall great house for a large group. Well stocked kitchen. Bed linens and towels provided…that’s always a plus and the beds were made upon arrival. House was very clean! Overall a great week at IOP!!

This was our 8th consecutive year we’ve stayed in Wild Dunes and the 3rd at the beach house. We have 6 grandchildren and they consider the house their own for the week. We have 16 in our family and we unanimously agreed to stay at the house the same time next summer. Lauren has done such an excellent job making the house livable—a well stocked kitchen and ample bedrooms for our 16! She makes improvements to make it more special each year.

Great home! Great Location! Beach is literally 100 steps away (but another 300 steps to the water :)) and it is a beautiful beach- great for long walks and lazy beach days. Free transportation to the resort/pool was also great if you want the pools and the restaurant and a more crowded resort vibe. The house was spacious and well appointed. We were a group of 17 (14 adults and 3 teens) and we were all very comfortable in the house. Only advise I give future renters, if you plan to prepare meals for a large group consider that there is only a standard size stove top and one standard size fridge (and a very small electric grill). It all worked out just fine, but meals that were baked were a better success! And if you are able, bring coolers for soda, beers, waters, etc. I hope our family is able to visit again!

We enjoyed our stay, and there was more than enough space for everyone. The kitchen/living/dining was perfect for our group to hang out together. The beach is very close and beautiful! The location is about 35 min. from downtown Charleston. There is plenty of shopping on Isle of Palms and also in Mt Pleasant.

Overall this property was great, it met our needs and the location was perfect. The only downside was the concierge service, we were not aware we would be dealing with them for things like extra towels and kitchen supplies. Requests were usually a day late. But that experience does not diminish how much we enjoyed the vacation home.

Quick replacement of washer and dryer that did not work was great.

Everything went well and everyone enjoyed the visit... very comfortable house, but numerous stairs without the use of elevator makes it hard for older visitors (we managed though)! Excellent for large groups...we had 9 couples.

Our family of 17 just spent a week at Lauren’s place. Overall the experience was very positive. Lauren was responsive during the booking process and through out our stay. The lay out of the house was great for our large family, with room enough for all to have both private space and community space. The location to the beach and access to resort amenities was nice. (Although access to a closer pool would be great) Even though we knew when booking we could not use the elevator, it really would have been a big help for my 86 year old parents. Our suggestions would be to make sure all the cockroaches are dealt with (we found several upon arrival), the space could have used a deep clean (we realize turn over is only 6hours and are not sure this is enough time for such a large house), several of the mattresses need to be updated, and the outdoor furniture cushions need to be replaced (old and uncomfortable). In my opinion, if the house was taken off-line for a week, and these basic issues were attended to, we would have definitely given it a 5 star. Thank you Lauren for sharing your space with us.

This is a lovely property. The beach is close, the beds are comfortable, and the water pressure strong! It’s attractively decorated without being fussy or too personal. There is a ping pong table!
Downsides: There is an elevator, but you can’t use it. There are beach accoutrements but you can’t use them. There were supposed to be hot pads and dish towels but there were not. I get the feeling no one has inventoried the house in a while. Plastic cups and bowls for little kids would have been nice. You have to supply EVERYTHING, down to salt and pepper. That said, there are sufficient pots and pans, silverware and plates, to feed a crowd. You don’t really deal with the property owner or manager, your main contact is with the resort. They will supply fresh towels and deal with wasps on the deck (paper and mud varieties)—like hotel services. If you stay a week, you’ll get a free cleaning service and they’ll bring 4 more dishwasher pods, new mini soaps and shampoos. However, they’re short staffed and the young man sent to clean would have been there his whole shift if we hadn’t said not to bother with the rest.
Personally, for this kind of money and with people flying in from all over the country, I think there should be a wagon for the beach and beach chairs as well as a few buckets and shovels to use. Why not provide a high chair and other kid oriented amenities? Use a list to inventory and resupply what should be on hand. When I emailed about the hot pads and dish towels, I was told they were in a drawer in the kitchen island. They were not. Obviously we’d looked thoroughly before contacting the owner. A minor thing but when you’re trying to dump big pots of spaghetti water, it becomes an issue. I would have appreciated more attentiveness.

House was ideal for our large family reunion. Close to beach and came with all the Wild Dunes amenities. Check in was late and house Could have been cleaner, but we all understand the fast turnover the cleaners must perform. Lauren was very good with communicating with us. Would definitely stay here again.

This is our 3rd straight year staying at this house. We enjoy it more each time we come! Lauren has done a great job with home improvements and decorations every year. It feels like home-planning to come back next year!

Well situated to the beach as well as grocery stores. Lots of room for the family. The stairs were difficult for the older folks but the young ones were not disturbed by it at all. I would definitely recommend this home!

We were quite surprised that the kitchen was so well equipped.
I did bring my Keurig which was quite helpful.
The only negative was not enough towels. Thankfully some lived nearby and brought extras.
As far as maintenance, the toilets in the bathroom with the tub and the one by the front door need to be tightened!!!!
All in all it was wonderful!!!!!

The house is very comfortable for gathering with plenty of sleeping and dining spaces for our large group. Proximity to the beach was perfect and the kids loved their first time at the ocean. Lauren was helpful answering questions. I would recommend this house for large families or group gatherings.
There are so many rooms on the second floor, it’s impossible to know which doors lead to bathrooms versus bedrooms when all the doors are closed. We ended up using post-it notes on the doors. For guests in bedrooms without a bathroom, small signs on bathroom doors would make it easy to identify a bathroom.

We were so happy the whole week. Lots of stairs which gave us more exercise which was good but sometimes it would of been great to get things up to the 3rd floor with the elevator. Plenty of room for a large group.

Our family had a wonderful visit! I have never stayed in a house that was as well stocked with everything! There was even a Bundt cake pan. There was never a lack of towels. The air conditioner worked great on every floor. The water pressure in the shower was great. We loved being so close to the beach and being able to come home whenever we needed. The kids loved the ping pong table. Lauren was wonderful to work with. Thank you!!!

Very nice. Very close to beach access and pool. Great accommodations. I would gladly return for another family vacation there. Lauren and her dad were very helpful.
It was a great pleasure to work with Lauren. I was very unhappy with the Wild Dunes staff when trying to check in.

The most perfect week at 1 Summer Dunes Lane. We would not have changed one thing about our stay. After a long and challenging Covid year- this was exactly the getaway our family needed. THANK YOU!

This house is spacious and well thought-out with tons of beds of all sizes for anyone and everyone. Perfect for a large group! The kitchen/dining area were ample space to cook and congregate for our group of 16 (much larger than it appears in the pics) with a HUGE dining table and 8-10 stools around the oversized island in the kitchen. The kids loved their separate living area and game table on the 1st floor as well as the rooftop deck. There is plenty of seating at all locations, including the decks and outdoor areas. The bedrooms are small but we did not find it a problem. Lots of stairs to navigate, but we counted that as our work out on vacation :) The proximity to the beach was great, just a short walk to the end of the cul-de-sac. Lauren was a joy to work with! Very prompt and accommodating with booking, check in, check out and all of my many questions throughout the process. A wonderful time was had by all and everyone wants to rent this house next year!

Was a great house with plenty of room. Perfect location for beach and pool! An earlier reviewer said you couldn’t use the pools next to the house but we were told you could. Awesome week. Thank you!!

We had a group of 18 ranging from 16-80 yrs old. Plenty of room for everyone and the main living location was laid out well on the 3rd floor. Nice views of the ocean from the deck and crows nest. Home was very clean and the kitchen was well stocked with glasses, utensils, and dishes. Only knock I would have is that every bathroom was shared by 2 bedrooms. Definitely not a deterrent for our group but something to be aware of. One tip- there is no pool at the home and the main resort pools are about a mile away. We texted the hotline number in the check in packet. They gave use the code to the pool right next door at the tidewater condos. Very nice pool and super convenient vs lugging everything to the beach all the time. I’d stay here again if we returned to isle of palms.
3.0 / 5.0
This property is about a 20-25 minute drive through Isle of Palms and Wild Dunes from the IOP Connector. It's a bit tedious driving the distance just to run up to Harris Teeter to grab some paper towels. But, the house was clean and quite large. It's laid out a bit oddly, with bedrooms on the bottom two floors and the living area on the top floor, which can make it noisy for those trying to sleep when others are up. There are several porches which are nice for relaxing on. The dishwasher didn't always work and with our large group this was sometimes a big problem. Also, the settings on the stove are rubbed off and it's impossible to tell what's high/low ("off" is at a vertical setting of the knob - is left high or low?). We almost caused a fire putting some oil in a pan an chopping veggies for a couple of minutes.
Overall, our stay was good but I wouldn't rent this place again. I've rented homes on the non-Wild Dunes side of IOP and that is much more convenient and homes are better cared for.

Sleeping configuration perfect for all 19 of us!! Plenty of space for individual family activities: jigsaw puzzles, cards, some people had online work or studying. Kitchen and dining area well set up. Beach access lovely!! Even carts in the garage to cart our things to the beach!! Wild Dunes policy of no grilling took some working around, but would not stop me from reserving this unit again. Lauren answered our every question and was the perfect "hostess"! She even made suggestions that enhanced our visit. Would absolutely rent this home from Lauren again.
3.0 / 5.0
Unfortunately, the house's construction was such that it was extremely noisy, making it difficult to sleep on 2nd floor if anyone was even walking on 3rd floor. The rooms are small, with just enough space for bed and/or bunkbeds and table, as if builder was maxing out every foot of sleeping areas.
The property between next door house, was completely littered with trash.
Surprisingly, and disappointingly, the ocean was mostly brown from the creek water emptying into it just up the beach.
The owner was very pleasant to deal with, but there was pitiful lack of communication with property management.

This house checked all the boxes for a perfect beach trip. Plenty of space for multiple families, all the comforts of home, and short walk to the water. We most definitely will be returning to this home for future gatherings!

Whether your looking for a place for a large family or friend vacation, there is enough room for everyone to have their own space. Very clean. Kitchen well stocked. Very short walk to the beach. Easy to come in to grab more snacks. The pools you have access to are really nice as well and help break up the beach days. Would definitely recommend!

We had a huge group stay here for our wedding and we loved it! It was gorgeous and so perfect to relax after our big day. Plenty of bathrooms, space, and we hung out on the decks most of the time spent here! Lauren was awesome, too. She was easy to get ahold of and really made our stay seamless. We would definitely stay here again!

We had the pleasure of staying in this home for a large family reunion vacation - 10 adults and 6 kids. It provided ample bedrooms, bathrooms, and living spaces to accommodate everyone comfortably, and the kitchen in particular was very well stocked to accommodate such a large party. Instacart delivers groceries from the local Publix and there are a number of yummy restaurants that deliver as well.
The beach was a very convenient walk away, and we really enjoyed the views off the top decks. The smaller kids loved searching for shells in the tide pools, and the older kids loved playing in the rougher surf.
Two things to know - the four pools you have access to are not within easy walking distance especially for those with small children. While the pools are beautiful, expect to drive to visit them. We were very politely kicked out of the pool in the pictures as it’s not one of the four available. (They were super polite asking us to leave though. 😂)
Also, sound carries in the home. Adults will be fine, but with two toddlers and a baby we definitely had a few unintentional early mornings.
Overall it was a great experience, and I’m very thankful for the opportunity to have everyone in one home for the week.
