[June 2020: Due to pandemic concerns, we shut down operations April 1 - June 9; the island has "opened up" again, and we are again comfortable hosting Kona guests! Our cleaning person Dianna, best on the big island, is there to make sure our unit is extra clean!] Tastefully designed and newly upgraded reflecting quality and comfort, this top floor cozy condo is nestled among the tropical treetops, with private lanai and peek-a-boo views of the ocean. My wife and I affectionately call our unit #322 the Kona Dove. It is, in our opinion, one of the more desirable units in the Kona Islander Inn complex; ours is a top-floor unit, away from the traffic noise of Alii drive and Kuakini Highway, but close enough to hear soothing surf sounds at night. Our west-and-south facing lanai has an extra-expansive and open view since our unit is also a corner unit. And my wife Therese is an artist and designer- we keep our unit lovely and clean inside! Kona Islander Inn studio condo description This newly upgraded, top floor end unit features: • Interior artfully designed in hardwood and woven rattan “island style” furnishings, end table, large dresser, café table with two chairs, and an accent chair for additional seating. • Tropical morning sun pours onto your lanai, where you can sip your smoothie and contemplate your day. We’ve added a new patio table, chairs and pull down sun-shade • one comfy Queen-size bed. • Fully equipped kitchenette with brand new microwave, mini refrigerator, coffee maker, blender, electric skillet, cutting boards, dishware, serve-ware and utensils. • A quality 40” inch flat screen TV with remote and free cable. High speed internet available in reception/lobby area. • Cozy upgraded bathroom with new modular shower and chrome fixtures with pocket door off of kitchen for privacy, hair dyer and extra towels. • A lovely bedroom/living area with sliding glass doors that lead out to your private lanai. • New air conditioner with remote control. • Spectacular location in the heart of historic Kailua Kona Town, in close proximity to beaches, snorkeling, cafes, shopping, dining and farmer’s produce and artist’s market. Just a few steps through the garden to the pool/Jacuzzi area where there are two gas BBQ grills for your use.

Everything you need for a stay right in the heart of Kona!
Comfortable, clean and nicely decorated with a lovely lanai that has more than a peek-a-boo view of the ocean. The property also has a nice pool as well as laundry facilities.
The hosts were just a text away. I would definitely recommend this property to anyone.

This condo was squeaky clean and well maintained. Decor was so cute too! Great location close to restaurants and downtown Kona. Good value, would stay here again. ☺️
The only thing that was a bummer was parking. It was really difficult to find a parking space, particularly in the evenings. We often had to park on the side of the highway. This has nothing to do with the host, the complex just doesn't have enough on site parking.

Had a lovely stay at this cozy, clean, and quiet studio. The lanai is private and nestled among lovely tropical plants/trees. Condo is located in center of town so it is easy walking distance to restaurants, shops, and beaches. A vehicle is not needed with free trolley and bus service. Dave is an exceptional communicator and had quick responses and remedies to my inquiries. Condo was very clean. Will return again.

This property was a great place to stay. Right in the heart of Kona and easy to get to anywhere you needed. The hosts provided excellent communication and were available whenever we needed them. Mahalo!

The property is next to Ali’i Drive which has lots of restaurants and bars.
The property was very clean and had a wonderful view of the ocean even though it’s not ocean front. The only concern we had is that there isn’t a bathroom sink.

This little place was an absolute delight. Quiet in spite of being in downtown Kona. Easy to walk to shops, restaurants, beaches. Beautiful tropical landscaping gave a special atmosphere. Perfect accommodations if you are planning to be out and active during the day. We did struggle at first without a full kitchen but the appliances were a huge help. Would definitely come back!

Nice clean studio apartment with a spacious living area, very well stocked with kitchen things. Absolutely lovely lanai looking out over plumeria trees. Our only complaint was that the polyester sheets were hot and the AC was noisy.

We used to live in Kona so we knew the location was good. Easy walk to restaurants and town. Unit is on the 3rd floor with stairs up. Good clean unit size of hotel room. The owner contacted us ensure all was well. Overall a good stay and I would stay there again.

This is a beautifully furnished & decorated studio located close to a small dining/shopping area. The living/ dining/sleeping area was great. The kitchen/bathroom area were pretty cozy but functional. The balcony was lovely. It worked well for our 4 night stay.

It was comfortable, good exposure to morning and evening sun. Located behind a church so it was very quiet, for being a 5 min walk to Ali Dr.

This condo is perfectly located in the heart of the action with plenty of restaurants and shops in walking distance, plus access to the ocean. Just 15 minutes from airport. Loved the partial water view from the balcony and the tropical landscaping around the complex.

Property was perfectly located with easy walk to Oceanside, restaurants, and shopping. Plus it was well stocked with everyone we would need including beach chairs. We love how well it was decorated and loved the grounds as well. We would stay there again in a heart beat.

We had a great stay at the Kona Dove during our honeymoon! The unit was exactly what we needed for a short 2 night stay - the AC unit was a god send! The most amazing part about this stay is the amazing location!! You are right in the center of Ali’i drive and there are dozens and dozens of restaurants right outside the main gate. We walked every where and it was so nice to be able to avoid traffic. Thank you for sharing your beautiful space with us!

Overall stay was great. Condo clean and conveniently located close to Ali’i Dr. Location of condo within little complex is also good; quiet at night and fairly private on balcony. Parking was not an issue, when a spot wasn’t available, I used parking spaces right off the street in front of main lobby. I didn’t see any starter shampoo/conditioner or beach accessories like some of the other places, but there was all basic amenities you would need, and the price point for rental was appropriate. Overall, I would recommend, great option!

We stayed a week in this lovely apartment with a great sea view. Perfect for walking around the shops , cafes and bars. Less than 100yds from the sea.

We arrived early and waited 20 minutes for our room to be ready. The map of the grounds wasn't quite clear. We used the wrong stairway and as seniors were tuckered when we finally found our room. Needless to say, the stairway next to the unit (to the left of the door) would've provided easier access, had the instructions been clearer.
*From Lobby go down the steps, turn left, follow the path past the pool, make a right after the 1st building, then to the end. Stairway will lead you to the 3rd floor and the unit is the 1st door.*
After a full evening, feeling exhausted from 2 hr drive the stairs were a challenge.
In the morning, we went to breakfast and did some shopping. Got back to the room and our key didn’t work. Went to main desk to find that it was keyed for one night not 2. That got fixed immediately.
Our 2nd night was "stargazing tour" we didnt get back until midnight, with altitude change, the stairs were a challenge.
Lesson learned, as a senior LOOK for ground floor units to book or insure there is an elevator.
Communication with owner was excellent.

My friend and I stayed here for 2 nights during a wedding weekend at the Royal Kona. To our delight the location was easily walkable. The room was spacious and A/C worked great. The lenai setting in the trees was perfect for our morning coffee. And Dave was very communicative - great host!

Lovely setting with beautiful mature gardens and trees on the grounds. Back gate on Ali'i Drive along the shoreline of Kailua Bay. Easy walk to an infinitude of restaurants and bars, or get on the road for trips up to the Kona Coast coffee farms, or into the bays along the Leeward Coast for kaying and swimming. Well appointed studio with everything my wife and I needed to relax after a day out.

You’re right in the heart of Kona. No need to drive anywhere. You’ll save money because parking in downtown Kona is expensive. Free parking onsite. The view from the balcony is breathtaking. Very quiet location. Kitchen has everything you need to make meals. Front desk staff is helpful. We will be back soon.

Didn’t want to leave!! Walking distance to many businesses. Friendly town. Walking distance to ocean view but not ocean activities; drove to beaches to play and snorkel. Small kitchenette and refrigerator/freezer. Cooler was appreciated.

Excellent property for a couple or solo traveler. Easy to find and lovely grounds. Condo on third floor and a few stairs to climb up. Convenient to Ali’i Dr w/restaurants, shops, and beaches nearby. We parked the car and walked everywhere. Kitchenette has basics such as coffee pot, blender, small refrigerator, electric skillet, microwave, etc. we had some leftover spices and a cooler that could not go on plane so left in condo and hope the items will be useful for future guests. It was a pleasant stay and we would definitely return to the place should we find ourselves in Kona in the future.
