About this cabin rental
The week of Oct 19-26 is on sale! Celebrating our 17th year offering this special property for your Downeast Maine vacation! Seaside cabin on the Schoodic Peninsula located within 60 feet of the ocean. Completely updated throughout. Hear the waves lap along the granite shore, feel the ocean breeze, see the Sally Islands off in the distance, as well as the bold open ocean. At night you can see the flashing light of Petit Manan Lighthouse, Maine's second tallest light, built before the Civil War on a rock ledge two miles out to to sea.
The ocean view faces east across the water so the sunrises and moon rises are spectacular. See shore birds, marine life, and hear the loons call. Lobster boats work the area so you can watch them work from the front deck or along the shore.
The property is nicely wooded and you will have a private setting. Neighboring homes are shielded from view by a beautiful arbor of spruce, balsam, pine, etc. The shoreline is a combination of granite boulders and ledge rock. The water is deep, keeping a beautiful water view which is not affected by the twice daily Maine tide.
The cabin is a classic example of Maine craftsmanship. The interior is pine tongue and groove on the walls and the ceilings on both levels. The first floor living area has a pine plank floor. The second level structure has exposed wood beams and floor planking. The cabin has Wifi internet.
Level One includes a dining area and living area with a local granite wood-burning fireplace. There is a new, comfortable sofa and chair/ottoman. Also on this level is a full bath and a generous sized newly updated Kitchen with stainless steel appliances, granite counter tops, and all the dishes and utensils you need. Level Two has a front master bedroom with new queen size bed and a balcony that looks out over the ocean and out to the distant flashing lighthouse. The back bedroom has a pine bunk bed with a full size mattress on bottom and a single on top. There is also another single daybed in an adjacent sitting room. A new half bath separates the front and back bedrooms. All these rooms have pine plank ceilings and pine plank walls, new carpeting, and tile.
Walk or bike a couple miles to Corea Harbor, one of Maine's most picturesque working harbors. There you will find the Lobster Co-op where you can buy fresh lobsters directly from the fishermen. Corea Harbor also has a lobster roll cafe and grille located right on an authentic lobster wharf on the harbor, with great harbor views.
Down the road are the pretty communities of Prospect Harbor and Winter Harbor with many services, restaurants, and shopping. Winter Harbor is the gateway to the Beautiful Acadia National Park - Schoodic Peninsula Section, where you can enjoy strolling the spectacular craggy coast, hike Schoodic's hills, or bike beautiful trails. You can also take the mail boat across Frenchman's Bay from Winter Harbor to Bar Harbor, or take the easy drive from Schoodic Peninsula to Mount Desert Island.
The quintessential Schoodic Area is one peninsula 'Downeast' from the more crowded Bar Harbor area and Mount Desert Island.

We loved our stay at this quiet and private bay front cottage with views of Petite Manan lighthouse and the open ocean. The house was very clean, comfortable and well stocked with local brochures and books for help in planning our stay. The surrounding communities were fun to explore and offered many dining and grocery options. Acadia park was easily accessible by car, both the Schoodic Peninsula (~15min) and Mount Desert Island (~1 hour), while avoiding all the crowds. Bob was a great host, accessible and communicative. We would definitely visit again!

We knew the minute we walked into Bob's cottage that we had found the perfect place to stay while exploring Acadia, Winter Harbor and Corea. The views were stunning and the cottage was cozy, comfortable, and well-stocked. We were blessed with sunshine most days, but even when we had a day of rain and fog, the grand fireplace was a wonderful refuge.
The Schoodic area is very special with scenery that takes your breath away. We especially enjoyed our hikes and Schoodic Point!
Our day trips-- one on the ferry to Bar Harbor and another to Lubec were great fun and well worth the time, too! In addition we thoroughly enjoyed the good food at Lunch on the Wharf and JM Gerrish.
Thank you, Bob, for being such a gracious host and for sharing your little slice of heaven with us! We would come back again in a heartbeat!

Beautiful location. Entire wall of windows facing ocean. Small home perfect for 2 or 3. It is not a year round home. Home has a beautiful fireplace in Living room, takes the chill out of air. You can hear the water system off & on.

We had an amazing week at this lovely cozy cottage! My kids (ages 8 & 5) loved exploring the rocks and tide pools, watching lobster boats during breakfast and we enjoyed campfires and stargazing at night. We drove to Acadia a few of the days during our week long stay- it was a really pretty 40 minutes to Mt Desert Island. Schoodic peninsula was only a 15min drive away with several cute cafes/restaurants in Winter Harbor. My favorite spot in the cottage was the comfy chair by the fireplace in front of the windows overlooking the ocean :) Thank you Bob for a fantastic week!

And the boat cruise in Bar Harbor was lovely. Overall, we had a wonderful time and would definitely come back!

I stayed 7 days and enjoyed every minute of it! Bob was helpful throughout the process--from the time I booked in January, into my stay at the end of October. The home was simple and cozy and nicely updated. Everything was very clean and everything I needed was there. Bob responded quickly whenever I had a question.
The area itself is lovely, if you're looking to be a little out of the loop. You will find everything you need nearby (gas, groceries), and more a bit further out.
I spent 4 days hiking at Acadia, 2 days in the Schoodic region, and 2 days near Bar Harbor. Such a beautiful place, I will definitely be back!

Incredible property with beautiful waterfront and all the comforts of home. Extremely clean, comfortable furniture, massive granite fireplace ( which we enjoyed using ) well equipped kitchen and many thoughtful touches. Very quiet and peaceful, yet close to everything. The sunrises were stunning. There's so much to do on Schoodic Peninsula and Mt. Desert is close by. We would love to visit this special place again. Thank you to Bob Steffel , a great host.

We had a wonderful week at the cabin. Probably one of the quietest place I ever been. So peaceful. The views of the bay, the sounds of the tides, everything is picture perfect. The sunrises are spectacular with magnificent colours.
The Cabin is so comfortable. Bob, the owner is always available if needed. Makes for a perfect vacation. Highly recommend this cabin. Only 20 minutes from Schoodic Point and an hour from Bar Harbor.

Spent a peaceful week in this beautiful well equipped cabin observing the rise and fall of the tide, lobster boats in action, clear star filled night skies, just down the road working harbor serving lunch on the wharf and lobsters to purchase right off the boat to take home and steam in the outdoor cooker for supper. All this and still within an hour or so drive or ferry ride of all that busy Bar Harbor and Acadia has to offer. I rented a bicycle for the week and enjoyed the local roads and especially the 13 mile ride around the one way coastal loop of Schoodic Peninsula. We received excellent personal recommendations from the owner to make our stay in this beautiful property unforgettable. Highly recommended!

This property has it all. Fabulous views from the deck, clean and comfortable furnishings, a great propane lobster pot and small gas grill, and last but not least convenient access to fresh lobsters and seafood. We enjoy cooking and used the lobster pot on a regular basis but there are also several nearby restaurants offering a variety of fare. Bar Harbor is an hour by car and the Schoodic section of Acadia is only 15 minutes away and offers great hikes/views without the crowds. Bob was a terrific host!! He is very communicative and responded quickly to any questions we had. We will definitely return to this wonderful cottage by the sea.

Beautiful view
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this cabin on Gouldboro Bay in Maine. We found the Schoodic Penninsula to be quiet and comfortable, quite unlike Bar Harbor. But when we wanted noise, crowds and other activities, Bar Harbor was only a little over an hour away. We liked riding our bikes on the Schoodic Loop and hiking around Acadia. The view from the cabin is wonderful. There are two tall chairs that allow you to easily see over the railing and watch the lobster boats.
The owner was very helpful when we had a small problem, and had people out to fix it the next morning.

Picturesque View + All the Amenities of Home
We had a near flawless experience renting this property for a week during our annual vacation to Acadia National park. This time, we wanted to see the less crowded area of Downeast Maine, and we had a very positive stay for a week in this house.

A lovely time
Our family had a wonderful vacation here over Memorial Day. The home is clean and has plenty of room for our family of three. The property owner and manager were very attentive. The views from the deck at sunrise are worth every penny. While you’re here, do yourself a favor and get a lobster roll and blueberry pie down the road at the Corea Wharf Gallery and Grill. You won’t regret it.

Lovely cabin, good location for day trips
The cabin was really nice exactly as pictured, cozy and private with beautiful views. It was very clean and had a good amount of supplies. The kitchen is new and very well equipped. The bathroom is older but with everything you need, including lots of hot water. Laundry facilities were excellent. Internet was excellent. The fireplace was fantastic in the evenings, and the deck was great at all times of the day to watch the tide and the activity on the bay. The location was great for walking or cycling right out of the drive, and we did both. About an hour to Acadia NP and the Bar Harbor area, and while we loved both it was nice to go home and enjoy a much more peaceful area in the evenings and to wake up to in the morning. A good location to drive up to Lubec, and to explore the Schoodic peninsula. Lots of small villages and harbors to explore nearby. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
