We loved staying here! The variety of buildings was perfect—the folks with a kid got a quiet place where they could keep a kid routine, and the rest of us had plenty of space to stay up late without bothering them. The lake is beautiful and right down the stairs. I’d definitely stay here again.
One thing to note: when this listing says bring your own towels, they mean ALL the towels—beach towels, bath towels, hand towels for the bathroom, dish towels for the kitchen, etc. This wasn’t a big deal, and Paul was able to scare up one towel per person, which we appreciated, but I wanted to give folks a heads up to pack linens.

I can't even put into words how this place exceeded our expectations. we had a group of ladies ranging from early 20's to early 80's for a 2 night stay (Friday to Sunday). I live in the area, but we decided to book Lat's site un-seen. the owners were so accommodating. randomly checking on us, offering to empty firepit ash, or offer help in the event we needed something moved (firepit, grill, benches).
But the property is SO beautiful. We had the majority of our group stay in the smaller cabins, and we congregated in the Lake house for meals and games. we only made it to the private secluded beach once, because it was so rainy. The grounds were big enough for some people to place bocce ball in one area, and hang out at the firepit on the bluff, and others grilling and laughing by the lake house at the same time. all of my guests can't wait to figure out another weekend for us to go back!
This is definitely a hidden gem in SW Michigan.

We stayed in the larger house on the property and it was clean, spacious, well-situated - just perfect for the 5 of us - for sleeping, board game playing, cooking. The size of the lawn, chairs with view of the lake, and tire swing were an added bonus. The beach was beautiful, sandy, very private. Jenny has plenty of chairs, floats, rafts available at the bottom of the stairs. The stairs were very doable, with several benches along the way to rest if needed. Really just what we were looking for in a family get-away.

This is the second September our girls getaway group chose to stay at the Cottages and we were not disappointed. The view from the bluff is terrific and even though it was a little chilly for the beach we enjoyed a quiet and sunny morning at the shoreline. Having beach chairs provided for us at the bottom of the long stairwell is a plus, so we don't have to climb up and down to the beach with extra equipment. The cottage itself was very clean and well maintained, with everything--from the shower to the microwave--in good working order.
We keep finding more wonderful things to see and do around Harbor Country and really like using this vacation spot as our base camp. And oh yes, the owners are really nice too. Very good people to rent from.

Beautiful piece of property right on Lake MI, the view was terrific! It is a wonderful place for families. The cabins were rustic but clean and the owners were wonderful, so accommodating! We would return again. Much nicer than our next stop.

We had stayed in the house for a girls weekend, there were 6 of us. We had a great time, it was clean, comfortable and the owners were very nice. There are alot of stairs to the beach, but the walk is BEAUTIFUL and it had stone seats about every 30 steps or so, 2 of us have mobility issues and we didn't have an issue with the steps as long as we took a break on the stone seats ! We are looking forward to booking this again for October 2014 !

We were thrilled with this rental. We wanted somewhere with outside space for our kids and easy access to the beach. The owner was very accomoding/flexible in working with us to find dates that work. Our boys loved having a bonfire every night we were there and we found several restaurants/activities in the area we liked. A little challenging to not have a washer/dryer near the beach, but if you are looking for somewhere to relax and have easy access to the outdoors this place is worth it. steps downto the beach are consistent with the area. This was not as much of a challenge as I thought it would be, even carrying kids, because there are toys at beach level. It is a pretty basic set up, which was fine for us. The pictures and descriptions are accurate.

My family of 5 stayed for 3 nights while in town for a wedding. We had a two bedroom cottage and while it was a little difficult only having one bathroom, we managed just fine. The cottage was equipped with all that was needed. There were plenty of items for the kids (and adults) to use at the beach and we really enjoyed making a pit fire on the beach on a cool evening. Carol, Paul, and their daughter were very hospitable. I counted 112 steps down the beach (I could be off a few) but it feels like you a walking through an enchanted forest. Bring plenty of towels with you because being that close to the lake, everything stays really wet. I can't wait to return next year...
