The property received high praise for the spacious rooms, well-equipped kitchen, and beautiful views. Guests enjoyed the various activities available on-site and the accommodating hosts. Despite some minor issues, the overall experience was excellent.

This is our 2nd year staying as a family. Plenty of room for us all. Property is away from the hustle and bustle but close enough to get to what we enjoy doing from UtV rides, mt Mitchell etc.The deer that visit are an amazing plus! The grandkids absolutely love petting them! The house is equipped with I would say just about everything you would need. Internet service isn’t the greatest but we didn’t mind as we were trying to unplug anyways. This is definitely our yearly go to place!

This property exceeded my high expectations. The house easily fit our large group and the host was responsive and helpful. It had everything we needed and more. Definitely will be returning in the future! THANKS!!

Everyone had a really good time. There was a few issues but when I contacted the owner he did everything he could to fix it.
We made do and the family still had a great time.

He will not return calls and we We're only at the property for about an hour, and once we found the bed bugs, we called him, he. Admitted that there was a problem and that there had been a problem. We ask for a refund because the property was for an entire wedding party and we needed another place to stay. He said he wpuld mail refund. Never Received as of yet. Just a terrible thing to do to ppl from Ohio who traveled 9 hours to get there.

Our stay at Green Mountain in North Carolina, was amazing! The Lodge was beautifully decorated and have plenty of space for 20 member reunion. We absolutely loved the kitchen table. We’re all 20 of us could sit and eat at the same time. It is beautifully located in the mountain and there were tons of activities in the area to keep us busy for the nine days of our stay. we absolutely love the large dining table. We’re all 20 of us could sit and eat and talk and enjoy games at the same time. The downstairs area was great for the kids to go and play while the adults stayed upstairs enjoying that space. We love the playground and the horseshoe pit in the porch where we could sit out and have our morning coffee or tea. we were pleasantly surprised upon arrival, because the lodge was even better than we had imagined! We highly recommend it… Bill and Kathy were great host!

The Davis Lodge was a great place for our 16-person family. The driveway has been paved and none of our seven cars had any trouble accessing the property. There was adequate parking.
The outside of the lodge is very pretty with manicured flowers and trees. There is a nice grassy area with horseshoes, a fire pit, children's play area, and room for cornhole. The view of the surrounding area is lovely.
The inside is clean and the kitchen in particular is well-stocked and spacious.
Most of the beds were very comfortable and the Americana decor attractive. In one room the bed was rather old and had bugs. The owners were responsive to this issue.
The basement had plenty of room in which the kids could run around. The pool table was fine because none of us are pool sharks!
We had no issues with leaks or drips or the like. We just followed the rules and had no problem using the jacuzzi or hot tub. Our thirty-something kids really enjoyed the outdoor hot tub.
We took a trip down the road to the deer rescue, and as others have mentioned, it was a hit. The little fawns are just charming.
Overall, we had a nice vacation.

The property was great! Some of the mattresses are ready for replacing. The sight listed that there was queen beds in 6 rooms. However one room had a full bed. This would not be a problem for most, but our family members are very tall. (Men 6'3" - 6' 7")

This property is perfect for big parties. The 2 issues we had were the driveway and beds. First the driveway, if you dont have AWD do not rent this cabin until it is paved. We had 5 vehicles in our party and 1 couldnt get up the driveway. It was FWD. When it rains it becomes very rough and bumpy. Second each room only has 1 bedframe except for the 2 doubles in one and the bunk beds in the other. All the other rooms call for multiple beds but only have the king and queens on frames. All the twins are mattresses that are slid under the beds or packed in closets. This was not an issue for us as our party was 21. If we would have had more we would have had some problems. All in all this is a great cabin is rent for your next reunion.

We had a wonderful stay at the Davis Lodge. There was plenty of room for the 19 family members that were able to meet in the mountains for the retirement celebration. The house was well equipped for meals together and the play area was nice for the kids.
Caution can be said for the driveway. It had just rained terribly the day before we got there so there was a lot of wash out. Had to back any vehicle without 4 wheel drive up the driveway. That was a feat! Just be careful.
Bill was helpful when we had questions and enjoyed speaking to him when we needed assistance with anything.

Our large group stayed here for 4 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Having 8 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms with showers allowed our group privacy and the ability to spread out. The kitchen was large and well supplied. Bathrooms were all really nice and clean, showers were great. We ran each day on the Appalachian Trail and this was relatively centrally located for all of our days on the trail. Having that many showers was great and we could all shower and then go out and enjoy the spacious deck. The driveway is steep but the gravel is solid and if you take your time, it's not a problem. We used a 15 passenger van and pulled a small trailer to the top, A bit tricky but doable. Just be sure to closely follow the directions to the house. It's in a great location but a little challenging to find. We will definitely stay here again.

Cozy cabin getaway with plenty of room and lots of activities onsite. Equipped with a full basement including a pool table which was fun. The hot tub is a nice added feature and large outdoor “play” area with cornhole boards included. The kitchen seats lots of people at one table which is a plus. Lots of fun close by if you want to venture off. Driveway is a challenge if you are driving a small car. Best way to do it is in reverse and backing up the hill.

Only problem was hot tub was never hot, only warm. Overall super nice place and experience.

We all really enjoyed the property! The house is lovely and well cared for. The beds aren’t extra plush, just standard mattresses but I didn’t hear any complaints from my group of 11 people about having trouble sleeping.
We enjoyed the hot tub and the fire pit. The house is big enough we could fit several more people without feeling cramped.
The driveway is steep gravel and can be tricky but the owner has great advice on how to get up the drive without getting stuck. A few people in my group tried their own tactics thinking they knew better, but eventually followed directions and made it up the driveway. Follow the directions and you’ll be fine!

Really neat house. Especially loved the kitchen and dining table. However, after discovering bed bugs I attempted to resolve the issue with the owner. He implied that we were mistaken and asked for photo and video proof of live bed bugs. Upon providing the photo and video proof I was ghosted. Therefore, unless you want to strip in your garage and then spend a day sterilizing everything you took including your vehicle, I would suggest another venue. Furthermore, I would not have been as upset were it not for the fact this has been an issue the owner was already aware of. I have filed a formal complaint with VRBO and disputed with my CC company. So in my opinion this owner is negligent regarding the bed bugs, broken bed frames and dirty, moldy air filters. I would add videos and photos if possible.

This cabin was perfect for our staff retreat of 28 people. The large kitchen table was great for meals. Kitchen well stocked. In other reviews people complained about the driveway, which for some could seem too steep but if you keep driving you will be fine. We enjoyed mornings sipping coffee while taking in view from the rocking chairs on the porch. It’s not a brand new cabin and with any building has a few small quirks but for the size and price…no complaints here! Recommend

the house was great except drive up. Close to impassible and impossible for our two vans. Did finally make it.
10.0 / 10.0
The accommodations are as described. Rooms are comfortable. Large kitchen with the essentials. Outside patio with privacy. Dog friendly. Hosts were easy to contact and very pleasant. Hot tub had no issues.
Some of the provisions are a little dated but not enough to disrupt being able to have a good time: basement tv was out, pool table has some blemishes, some damaged cabinetry, no pool chalk, basement was a challenge to keep warm.
But will absolutely consider going back if the need arises.

We just wrapped up a three night family reunion mountain weekend. It was so great! The house exceeded our expectations! The surrounding property was so much fun to explore. Communication with the owners was quick, easy, and so helpful. We are already planning to book this house for next year’s reunion!
Thank you for having us!

The cabin was plenty of room for our big group.
Great amount of rooms and bathrooms.
However, There were several issues with the cabin. It rained while we were there and there were several leaks. One of the upstairs toilet leaked (with carpet being in the bathroom the smell was awful) and several toilets were easily stopped up. The light fixture in the basement bedroom fell. We tried to contact the property manager with these issues with no response. It was a little difficult for our vehicles to get to the cabin but we made it work.
Overall we had a good weekend.

We had a great time for the second year here. We enjoyed the time spent with family. The owner is extremely responsive and easy to communicate with. There are a few cosmetic issues, but nothing that kept us from having a good time. The hot tub was definitely a hit with our younger family members. We also enjoyed the fire pit and the cornhole game.

Property needs a lot of maintenance work. There were numerous roof leaks where bowls were sitting to catch the water. Big water leak downstairs. House smelled musty and moldy. After 2 days most of us had breathing problems. Found bed bugs in several rooms. Porch railing rotting and coming apart. At highest point, someone could easily fall off onto gravel below. Could not get in with code provided. Had to call and get correct code. Took a little bit before owner called back. The room descriptions for sleeping arrangements are not quite accurate. Master suite said king bed with 2 twins. The 2 twins were mattresses under the king bed. Problem was there was not enough room for the mattresses in that room. Central air is not accurate as there are several window units but the havent been serviced so they leak onto floor. Some of the flooring felt spongy so flooring might have been wet at one time. Washer and dryer are very loud. Some mold present in some of the rooms.

We had the best time and they atmosphere was awesome!! Loved the decor and the spaciousness of the cabin.
If I had to give anything negative it would be that in the basement area there was a leaking pipe that was leaking what seemed to be from the upstairs bathrooms!!! We had to empty it one time and it was disgusting.
Other than that our stay was great!!

This property was super comfortable, clean, and accommodating. Lovely views and everything you ever need in a kitchen. The deer rescue was one of the highlights of our trip and is walking distance from the cabin. We relaxed and got to enjoy time with family. The hosts were also quick to respond and were very sweet. We highly recommend this place to anyone looking to get away.

Great space for a large group that wants to spend time together but have their own bedroom. We spent most of our time in the kitchen and sitting at the huge table. We enjoyed the bonfire and hot tub each night under the stars. Bill and Cindy were quick to communicate. The code did not work to access the house when we first arrived but they corrected it immediately. It is handicap friendly although there is an awkward step and slight turn from kitchen to living area that we just needed guys to pick up grandmas wheelchair. We were really grateful for the time and space. Excellent experience - thank you so much!

We had an awesome stay at the Davis Family Lodge!! There were 14 of us and plenty of rooms, beds and bathrooms for all. The description of the driveway was accurate!! It’s a challenge without 4 wheel or all wheel drive. We only had one that had to stay parked at the entrance. The house and description on the site are off somewhat. Some stuff is outdated and could use some TLC. The rooms did have beds but under the beds were extra mattresses so a little deceiving but still worked out for us. The kitchen was the highlight as we had plenty of room to cook and eat as a group of 14. The water pressure was not that great but again it worked. The porch was an awesome place for us all
To sit, relax, and just enjoy the quietness!! The fire pit was a great place to hang out as well. A few upgrades are needed and the pictures should be updated as well. All in all we had a wonderful visit to Burnsville and this home accommodated us all.

We wanted to take our 24 High School Seniors on a retreat to get them focused and ready for such an important year in their lives. We could not have asked for a better location in this cabin for such a retreat. The property sits high up on the mountain. The student spent most of their free time exploring outside in the woods or playing pool. They cooked together in the massive kitchen. They hung out on the peaceful front porch. The way the home is set up gave them the opportunity to share meals together, conservations around the fire pit, and had enough space for everyone to have somewhere to sleep. One of the most outstanding things about this property are the homeowners themselves. Our group is from the coast of South Carolina. It’s a more than 5 hour drive for us to get from our school to the cabin. In the course of the three days and two nights we had planned to stay a storm in the gulf quickly went from a tropical storm to a category three hurricane headed straight for our hometown. While we were dealing with a seemingly endless list of decisions about what was best and safest for our students, the homeowners generously offered us shelter from the storm. In the course of those conversations, it quickly became clear that I was dealing with real honest heartfelt people who genuinely cared. Our retreat was designed to gave the students the opportunity to see themselves in new perspectives but they also had the chance to see the good in the world and that people do care.

The facilities are very nice with ample space for all of us. There were 28 of us. Loved the roominess and layout, and all the Jacuzzis and hot tub and nice pool table. The kitchen is very well stocked with equipment.
The driveway presented a challenge to the vans, both front-wheel drive and rear wheel 15 passenger, so there wasn't a lot of going in and out except for the RAV4. Recommend 4wd vehicles for ease of access.
Overall we really did love the place. The following are just minor suggestions for improvement:
All the numerous knick-knack decorations are cute, but I sympathize with the cleaning crew having to keep up with all the dust catchers. The mudroom smelled heavily of pets and even had to pick up some droppings on the carpet. The A/C filters need more frequent cleaning, and some of the window units and bathroom exhaust fans are aging and/or noisy and probably need replacing. One of the Window units was missing the filter, and one (Master bedroom) was missing the directional vents, struggled to provide sufficient cold air, and had an odor. Could have used more night-lights. Could only find one working bulb.
Had a little trouble at check-in, but the owner was very responsive and quickly talked us in over the phone. One smoke alarm downstairs was beeping, but we finally found a 9-volt battery to replace it. The toilet seat in the master bath kept coming loose.
Overall, the pros far outweighed the cons, and we had a wonderful time.

We really enjoyed our stay. The house is very large and our group had plenty of room. We enjoyed that the table was large enough for all of us to eat together. It was nice having the play area for the kids. We absolutely LOVED the Deer sanctuary and the deer visited the property daily. We had four vehicles and one almost did not make it up the drive. It took my husband 4 times. We had the only car. Everybody else drove trucks or SUVs.

I rented this with my siblings, their spouses and adult children. This was the perfect place for all of us to stay together. Dinners were amazing at the large table, as it sat all of us at once. The kitchen is really well stocked for dinners and desserts. All kinds of pans, dishes, glasses, etc. Burnsville town is really nice too. The only down side was the poor wifi and cell service. But what can you expect on the top of a mountain? And, I don't consider that a downside at all, as everyone was engaged with each other, rather than their gadgets. Highly recommend this place for others!

Plenty of room for everyone. As well as a wheelchair. We did bring our own ramps to be able to access kitchen area and main living area our son is a paraplegic. Deer came to visit us almost all week! The driveway up was not bad at all! There were 7 vehicles and none needed 4 wheel drive to navigate, never spun. Slow and steady is definitely key. The property could use a few minor updates but it was a great time for us all ages from 1-85! Great family time there and will most definitely return!
