The Seashells is fantastic for all ages. The house was great and well equipped. Easy back and forth from the beach and the beach is so peaceful. Highly recommend water shoes due to the shells. We loved watching the daily going ons in the bay. We loved Wellfleet Center and the Drive In Movie Theater.

Beds are good, kitchen well-equipped. Perfect setup for adults and kids. The backyard is fun with the ping pong and the kid’s toys and sand. The beach is beautiful and perfect for kids and launching kayaks. View from upstairs deck is lovely. Communication with owner excellent. We all had a great week, thanks

The Seashells large house was perfect for our amazing family reunion. I had vacationed there as a child and it was so meaningful for me to share my memories with my adult children and grandchildren. The house is large and comfortable and very well equipped. Location can’t be beat! Right on the beach and easy walk to the harbor and town. Would definitely return! You won’t be disappointed!

Great beach location and access to Wellfleet
The proximity to the beach (literally 40 steps, as listed) is amazing. We had relaxing days at the private beach area and enjoyed paddling to the beach on Great Island with the provided kayaks. The bike or walk to local restaurants is an easy mile down the road and downtown is just about 1.5 miles. We loved driving the 2.5 miles to Duck Harbor for sunset. The owner had great restaurant and activity recommendations.
We enjoyed using the big well-stocked kitchen and sitting area, as well as the spacious deck.
Couple things to know: the house is not really 5 bedrooms, as one of them is a walk-through to get to the master bedroom. The cost of the rental goes up by a lot (cost of an additional night’s stay per additional person)if you have more than 6 people. The price is reflected in the booking process, but something you wouldn’t know if, like me, you booked it for yourself and then invited guests. Finally, while the deck was great, replacement of the mismatched and rusted furniture would be a huge improvement.
Overall a really fantastic week in Wellfleet!

Perfect location and spacious!
Perfect house for just staying home or venturing out! It provided us the space we needed to have family time as well as alone time. We enjoyed the beaches in the area and much needed time away!

Beachside house packed with fun
So many wonderful things about this property. This was our first time to Cape Cod. The location, just steps from the beach, was ideal and the view from the deck was beautiful. The beach is calm and the tide is low, so it was a great place for the kids to play in the water, discover 'beach treasures' and climb among the rocks. The beach itself would have been enough but there was so much more available. Kayaks and floats for water fun, a ping-pong table in the backyard, and numerous books, games, and a smart TV for night activities and during the one day when it rained. We are a family of 5, but there was so much sleeping space we could have easily accommodated our extended family. The open second floor with kitchen, dining, and living room was ideal for family togetherness. The owner was very accommodating. We very much enjoyed our time here. Thank you !

Excellent trip
Amazing beach vacation. We stayed with my wife, 2 two year old daughters, my parents, sister/niece and brother/fiancé and it was perfect. Howie was very responsive and the location is amazing.

“Best vacation ever!!” The kids have spoken...all 7 of them.
Our family of 9 loved staying in the Main house. Upstairs kitchen, family room, deck, and views of the Bay were fantastic! The owner, Howie, was very friendly and accessible long before, at check-in, and during our week long stay. Everything was “as described” so no unpleasant surprises. We arrived with two vehicles and high expectations, which were amply met. With COVID-19, we purchased travel insurance just in case.
The 2-story house was very clean and well stocked with board games. We also made good use of the kayaks and the outdoor ping pong table. Although we didn’t need to, we also packed our own towels, pillows and bed coverings.
Howie’s restaurant recommendations, particularly for takeout were quite helpful. And his suggestion to bring old sneakers for hiking (which we did a LOT of) or just for going out to explore with the low tide, was key.
Highly recommend the Sea Shells Main House, especially with Howie as the owner!

Satisfactory
We miss read agreement arriving with no linens. Owner very helpful to provide actess to linens. Many thanks. Beds comfortable. Very spacious. Smelled musty on arrival which with heat cleared up. Better for families than individuals because one bath thru bedroom other downstairs.

Perfect stay
Loved the location. We could bike to all the beaches and town. Lovely views of the bay. Kids had a great time finding little creatures in the bay. We used the kayaks quite a bit and that was a real bonus. Liked the comfortable open lay out of the living room dining room and kitchen. We had a party of ten and there was plenty of space.

Great place for a big group
Really pleasant comfortable house. The bedrooms are comfortable, and for a beach cottage there's reasonable privacy. The common area is really pleasant, and we loved the deck. Swimming right outside at high tide, enjoying the snails and crabs at low tide, walking down the beach into town, and kayaking out to Great Island were real highlights. Howie was great to communicate with. Would definitely stay again with a big group!

Wellfleet Harbor Dream
We've stayed at this house several times and always had a really wonderful time. The location right by the bay is a huge asset, the big kitchen and dining table are well-suited to cooking for large groups, and the deck is a lovely spot to spend time reading or lounging. Wellfleet is a super charming town within an easy bike ride from the house. We look forward to many future visits to this special spot!

Great space for a family or group right on the bay
I loved my stay at Main House in Wellfleet. Being right on the bay was amazing, and it's also very close to the pier, to town, to ponds and ocean beaches. The house is great for accommodating groups with lots of space to lounge and eat together.

So much fun in one week!
“Big beach house in Wellfleet with kayaks.”
Thats what we wanted and that’s what we got. Wellfleet is such a great location for beginner OR advanced kayakers. And the 5 sit-on-tops included - they can’t sink and you could hardly flip them over if you tried.
We also enjoyed going on a 1/2 day fishing excursion with the Naviator out of Wellfleet Pier. We all caught fish. For a tip they cleaned and filleted them, and we ate our catch for dinner!
The house itself is straightforward and as described on Vrbo. One of the 5 bedrooms is a “walk- thru” bedroom. One is very small. There were no ant problems which we’ve found to be the case at other Cape Cod rentals. The owners seem ‘hands on’ in taking care of the property.
Having 2 big living rooms on separate floors with TVs was nice. So was the ping pong. We could’ve really used 2 weeks.
I recommend the Main House and Wellfleet in general if you like active and outdoorsy vacations.

Great vacation! Great Cape Cod location
We all had a great time as usual. (1st review. Our 3rd stay)
We’re ages 3 to 65 and there’s fun and relaxing activities for all of us. The Sea Shells beach is top notch , really peaceful, and perfect for the kids. We love the kayaks, the ping pong in back, Great Island, Wellfleet oysters and local fresh fish... Everything about the house is as advertised. And nice and quiet at night. Thanks Howie. Wellfleet’s the best!

Gorgeous Location!
Main House, Sea Shells cottages, Wellfleet. Everyone that we wanted was here. We're an extended family - 4 years old to 88! The property is presented accurately, though the owner has an individual site with lots more pictures. He is easy to reach and we did have one minor issue which was fixed within hours.
Wellfleet is pretty far out Cape Cod, 100 miles from Boston. But the beaches and restaurants are terrific and less crowded.
We visited the ocean beaches with their big waves and shark warnings, and the ponds which have crystal clear water and are very peaceful. Mostly though we hung around the Main House beach which is on the bay side of Wellfleet. It's just steps away - not a staircase, just walking steps - quiet, beautiful, great swimming and boating, relaxing, interesting to explore the sea bottom at low tide...
For restaurants we liked Winslows and the Wicked Oyster. At the house we liked having ping-pong. A 2nd frig was handy.
We would definitely recommend and come back if our family's schedule allows.

Best Cape Cod vacation ever! Wellfleet is SWEET
We've vacationed on Cape Cod before but this was our first time in Wellfleet. Wellfleet is a little more expensive than the average Cape Cod location but definitely offers the best of Cape Cod - quiet not crowded, VERY beautiful, Cape Cod National Seashore, and it's an adorable little fishing village with a quaint town center.
The Main House is part of the 'Sea Shells cottages' - the cottages are close to the Main House- but its very quiet. We had all the privacy we wanted.
The house was clean and comfortable. The kitchen is very well equipped and pleasant for our 2 cooks. It's an open layout. The bedrooms are small to medium, but there's a 1st floor living/family room (in a addition to a living room upstairs) which is huge. Our older kids hung out there to watch TV and play board games while the adults gathered in the 2nd floor living room. There's games, toys, DVDs, and a lot of books.
Our family likes to swim and we loved the swimming there. The water temp felt unusually warm and it was nice not to worry about rip tides or sharks. The kids also enjoyed the ping-pong in back. We took the kayaks out every day but one - including my 80 year old mother - paddling to Great Island. The tides make it look different every day! There were new things to discover all the time.
Probably the thing we all loved best was just being so close to the beach, being able to come and go, no need to drive anywhere, park...
Everything was as advertised and Howie was very easy to communicate with and had some helpful suggestions like about the nearby lakes . Besides the beach activities and ping-pong we liked walking down to Wellfleet Pier for ice cream. Also, a whale watch excursion. I would recommend Main House, especially to families and extended families like ours.

Our BEST Cape Cod vacation!
We've been coming to Cape Cod for 8 years, mostly to the Lower Cape. This was our first time in Wellfleet, recommended by friends. Wellfleet is a little more expensive, and further out to drive, but worth it. It's quieter, not crowded. The National Seashore is beautiful. Kayaking there was quite an adventure for our kids! They also enjoyed collecting shells and little sea creatures at low tide. The swimming was great, the water temp was unusually warm for Cape Cod. And it was nice to not have to worry about rip tides and sharks.
The house was larger than expected, though the bedrooms are small. There's a family room that functioned as a living room for kids to play board games and watch TV - it's a very big room.
Howie was easy to communicate with and accommodated us by installing a portable A/C in one of the bedrooms.

Below average beach and house
Pros:
Big 2nd floor living area including kitchen, living room, and deck--by far the best quality of the house. The space behind the house has ping pong and sand for kids to play in.
Kayaks were fun to take out. A few of us made it to the great island once.
Wellfleet is a nice Cape town with lots of food options if you don't want to cook in.
Cons:
Not a sandy beach. The private beach is covered in rocks, and the tide goes out 1/4 mile leaving mud flats behind, so the kids could only swim during high tide. You have to have water shoes. Plus you can't really see the beach from the house, but you can see the water over the tops of the beachside cottages.
Not a good house/area for little kids. The houses are extremely close together and the owner contacted us that people complained that they could hear the baby crying and toddlers when they were outside playing in the sand. Huh? That's what babies/kids do!
It's an old house and needs lots of updating. We had issues with the dryer which burned clothes, and one of the two showers was broken a few days. The owner did offer to compensate a nominal amount. The couches smelled very musty and "used".
Awkward room layouts. The "6th sleeping room" is not exactly private even with the door closed, because one of the other rooms is attached making it another pass through situation like the bedrooms upstairs. So really one private BR, one with bunk beds, and the others are pass throughs.

Terrific beach house
Had a great week in Wellfleet. The house was exactly what we were looking for - spacious, casual and comfortable. The kids loved the kayaks and ping pong table, and being right on the bay beach, with great ocean and pond beaches a short drive away, was perfect.

Beautiful Fall Get-Away
We rented this house for a week in Oct. for a much-needed get-away for my husband, myself, our 2 daughters &sons-in-law.and new grandchild.Unfortunately,my one daughter & husband had a wedding that week in CA so couldn't make it.But this house was absolutely perfect for us,giving us all our "space" and privacy when we wanted it,and together time when we wanted it.We gave our daughter,son-in-law and their baby the upstairs,(they got the better deal!:)) because it was easy access to the wonderful kitchen, dining area for them to feed the baby. But it was nice each couple had their own bathroom on a different level. We had absolutely spectacularly warm weather. We had so much fun kayaking, and yes, even grandma did it! My daughter and son-in-law paddled out to the island, and loved it. The water was warm, and my daughter tried the stand-up-paddleboard,though with not too much success! We barbecued on the beautiful, spacious deck with a spectacular view.We watched the people at dawn at low tide out in the bay, clamming,I guess? We played some of the many board games at night, that I haven't played in eons.We marveled at how the bay changed with the tides. Everything we needed to cook was right there.Howie is quick to respond to any questions, and easy,no-stress to deal with. This is a beautiful little corner of the world, and though we've always visited the cape in the fall,I would now like to visit in the summer, also when everything is open.
