Lovely house and great pool. Annie was super responsive to questions during our stay. As others have noted no AC but definitely manageable with all the fans

A lovely home in a lovely and convenient location. No AC was a little tricky but fans are well placed and very helpful. Easy stay to get around the BI and would highly recommend. Home is well stocked for outings and the pool was such a treat!

The house looks just like the pictures! This place is in a good, quiet location very close to the main highway and practically within walking distance to magic sands beach (great boogie boarding spot). The property has beach chairs, umbrellas, boogie boards and a cart available for beach excursions. There was an adaptation phase for us with the home not having Air conditioning, but cooling off in the pool and using fans to channel air through the house worked well. We had a wonderful time and spent several days in the house recuperating from big adventure days.
5.0 / 5.0
I was remiss in not checking if AC was available in this house. Due to the humidity in Kona, it took us a couple of days to get used to it. The many fans in the house helped, but it was the pool area that became our haven every day, after visiting many sites in Kona!!

The house was absolutely amazing! Pictures don’t do it justice! The back yard and pool was our own private Oasis and we loved every minute of it! Gorgeous views From the front porch! The location and Neighborhood was wonderful! We had everything we could have possibly needed in the house! Annie was able to answer all of our questions and concerns!

My wife and I lived at Annie’s Hale for a month over the Christmas-New Year holidays and had a wonderful time.
The Hale was very clean, smelled good and was well equipped. Lots of fans around the house and they were well used and kept us comfortable. Three nice sized bedrooms and two bathrooms gave us lots of room to spread out. Annie’s family business used to be hardscaping so there are lots of reminders throughout the house, from the extensive slate floors in the main rooms to the massaging pebble floor of the bedroom opening to the back yard. It was an adventure to explore.
The real star of the property is the huge deck and swimming pool out back. It is an oasis of imaginative hardscaping and tropical plants. The pool is very clean, smell-free, and was ideal for wading with its gently sloped entry – perfect for small children. The water temperature in the deep end could be bracing, but we soon got used to that. We laughed as the local mynas, java sparrows, spotted and zebra doves, and saffron finches jostled for room to bathe and drink in the warm shallows. I also had a welcome visitor, a small 5” lizard, who would often perch on my toes to catch any flies foolish enough to harass me. He must have caught 8 or 10 while we were there. The geckos were also around and so fun to watch.
Would we stay at Annie’s Hale again. Definitely, yes.

We extended our stay in Kona last minute and had to find a place to stay for 3 nights. We were fortunate to find Annie's place and enjoyed staying there. The pool area is really lovely and the grandkids loved diving for coconuts in the pool! There is a pretty ocean view from the front porch. Annie is really accommodating and made sure we had everything we needed. It was nice to stay in a family neighborhood our last few days in Kona and feel more of a part of the community. Convenient location just a few minutes to Kona, shopping, beaches and Da Poke Shack!

We stayed here for the triathalon and loved the house, the area and the host. Great layout, three nice bedrooms. An amazing pool. No AC but lots of fans and breezes. Ten minutes to the downtown area. Couldn't ask for a better place. Thanks!

First off, the photos don’t do this property justice (Annie, for real, have new photos taken!) And I can honestly say we’ve never stayed in a vacation rental that felt more like home. Everything about our stay at Annie’s house was absolutely perfect- including Annie! She is the warmest, most lovely host & we instantly felt like she was family. We arrived after dark so it wasn’t until morning’s daylight that we were able to take in the magic of this property. Its beauty literally brought me to tears. Every detail of the home is well thought out- from the fully stocked kitchen to the closet full of hangers- and the location couldn’t be better. The neighborhood is gorgeous & has sidewalks- so many unique homes. We enjoyed a walk through the neighborhood and down to Ali’i Drive along the ocean every morning. And it’s the perfect jumping spot to anywhere in the island. Annie, thank you for sharing your piece of paradise with others.

This house was the perfect home base for our family of six to explore the beautiful beaches of Kona and the Kohala Coast. Located in a quiet residential neighborhood with a view of the pacific from the lanai, it’s just a short drive from restaurants, grocery stores and shops. The house was filled with amenities like a well stocked kitchen, toiletries in the two walk-in shower bathrooms, and beach items for us to use like beach chairs, coolers & boogie boards. As much as we loved the inside of this accommodation, the outside was the real treat and our favorite place to relax, unwind and eat meals. The back patio is large, filled with beautiful tropical plants, tables, lounge chairs, a nice gas grill and a fabulous walk-in salt water lighted pool surrounded by lava rock. The host, Annie, was amazing. She was so friendly and helpful from the time we booked and throughout our stay. Annie was a delight and answered all our questions with top notch recommendations for restaurants and beaches. This was especially helpful since a member of our party was traveling with a wheelchair and crutches and we needed help locating the most accessible beaches for her. We were so happy with every minute we spent here at Annie’s Hale.

Oasis of relaxation
We were absolutely delighted by everything we experienced at Annie's home. The home was spacious with plenty of comfortable seating. Beds were comfortable with nice bedding and more pillows than any sane person needs. If for some reason, you aren't taking advantage of the AMAZING pool out back, an abundance of ceiling fans and movable floor fans means you can always find a cool breeze if the midday heat gets too much. Annie was a gracious and friendly host, willing to share opinions on local spots for good food. The greeting cat who welcomed us at every arrival was a lovely perk as well.

Best Stay Cation Ever! May 29 - June 04, 2022
Beautiful home in a great location, completely private backyard with amazing pool. Surfboard HOT outside shower, plumeria, palms n banana trees everywhere and a daily evening sunset while languishing in the pool, EPIC. I am recovering from spinal surgery so I use a wheel chair/walker/cane to mobilize and the house is EXTREMELY Handicapped friendly. The hallway to rooms n bathroom is wide, toilets are high and showers are walk in, very convenient. The ceiling fans are such a comfort and there is additional fans in every living space to keep everyone cool on the hottest of days. Kitchen is fully equipped, Gas Grill & smoker available, lots of outdoor seating options and best part if the deck is splinter free. We felt like we actually lived in Kona for the week and it was lovely. Mahalo nui to Anne for all her assistance, our ohana was able to spend real quality time and we hope to see you on the Moku for another stay cation in the future. Wonderful stay
Anne's home was perfect for our family of 4. My 2 daughters had endless fun in the backyard pool. The kitchen had all that we needed and more. The location was central and located in close proximity to everything in Kailua-Kona. Anne was a kind and communicative host. We would gladly stay at the home again next time we are visiting the Big Island.

Annie is the BEST!
our family of 5 had a wonderful stay w/ Annie. The home is large & spacious & made for a perfect anchor point for our west coast adventures. Safe, quiet neighborhood. Annie is a great resource - she lives downstairs but you'd be hard pressed to notice she's even there! Plenty of space for our group of 5 to spread out. The house is well lived in & could benefit from a deep clean. But overall, the space was great & the pool sealed the deal! what a beautiful outdoor space to enjoy! Mahalo Annie & Kirby!!

Amazing Property! 🌺
My family of 5 had a wonderful stay at Annie’s. It is a beautiful, roomy property and was perfect for us! It was a restful home base for nearby surfing (Kona Surf Co), snorkeling (Seaquest), restaurants, shops, and exploring the island for longer day-trips. My youngest child never runs out of steam, so having the pool was also a huge bonus allowing me to read and relax while she swam. Everything was clean and up to date and we could not have been happier. Mahalo, Annie!! ❤️

Fantastic family vacation house in Holualoa
Our 6-person multi-generational group loved Annie's Hale! It was clean, roomy, comfortable, and in a location that suited us perfectly. We all appreciated the spacious common areas, the large and well-equipped kitchen, the lovely and interesting decor, and the amazing back garden and pool area. Coming back to the house and pool in the afternoons after our morning adventures was a real highlight of our visit to the area!
Annie's Hale served as an excellent base for exploring the South Kona area. We had a rental car, and from the house it was just 10-20 minutes to excellent snorkeling beaches and boat tours, Kona coffee farm visits, and grocery shopping. We appreciated the location away from the main tourist roads and traffic, which meant quiet stargazing evenings on the back patio.
During our stay in late March we had partly cloudy days and some showers. While it got a little warm in the sunnier bedroom (we'd recommend replacing that particular pedestal fan), we were mostly comfortable using the fans provided.
Overall, we'd highly recommend Annie's Hale and hope to be so lucky as to return there in the future!

Holidays at Annie’s Hale
This was a great experience. Location was great, easy access to any part of the island. House was lovely. Pool was amazing and much needed after a long day of hiking, swimming, snorkeling. It was perfect to have Anne on property. She is great to chat with, get ideas from or just to get to become buddies with her dog Kirby. She was there when we needed but it did not feel at all intrusive in any way. Would definitely stay here again.

Great Escape
The pictures do it justice and all the reviews are right. 5 stars. Annie is just about the nicest person you’ll ever be hosted by. Beautiful, peaceful home, fully stocked kitchen if you like to cook and a fully stocked pool if you like to play. Location is beautiful, lots to do nearby and a great jumping off point if you want to explore. 12 minutes to the airport but not in the flight path. A two hour drive if you want to do Volcanoes national park, but its adventure road tripping on the Big Island. Annie lets you borrow coolers, beach chairs, and towels. You can literally make of trip of it with just a few changes of clothes and a trip to Safeway. Clean home inside and out. My only complaint is that my kids liked the pool more than the volcano!

Girls trip heaven!
Annie’s Hale (home) was fantastic. First off, Annie is an amazing host. She is friendly, kind, and an host with the most aloha. She lives downstairs with her adorable pup Kirby and was always there to help while still giving us privacy during our stay. The home itself is beautiful, roomy, and the decor was Hawaiian and beach themed making it comfortable and relaxing. Even better than the pictures. The pool was…. Incredible. We spent every evening in the pool which was always a nice wind down from the days activities. Close to just about everything and fully stocked kitchen if you plan to cook in. Annie’s hale will always be our go-to place when staying on the big island. Mahalo Annie for making us feel like Ohana!

Anne's Hale is a great place to relax. I thoroughly recommend staying at her lovely property if you are interested in learning how people actually live in Hawaii. LOCATION: We have visited the Big Island many times but have always stayed in the Waikoloa Resort. Even on this trip we split our time between the house and the Hilton 6/3 days and I'm so glad we did it this way. It was so nice to be close to the activities and restaurants that were more reasonably priced than in the resort area. Downtown was 5 minutes north and Keauhou shopping center was 5 minutes south. I also would recommend being on the ocean side of Hwy 11. There are similar homes up on the hill but they were stuck in clouds and rain the entire time we visited. The area was also much further away from everything.AMENITIES: The amenities here are totally undersold. There is every single item you'd want for a beach adventure (including 2 umbrellas). Nearly every type of pool toy or raft is ready in the pool area. The internet is very fast and WiFi is everywhere. We visited during the warmest part of the year and were prepared to be hot as the standard Hawaiian home by the water does not have AC. Anne was prepared for this as every room not only has ceiling fans but also floor-standing fans. We slept comfortably every night and felt very safe in this neighborhood. The neighbors were all very respectful there are no 'party houses' or really any other rentals nearby. We have been travelling during 2021 and I think rental homes are the best bet for stays over 5 days. With the moving health targets during the pandemic, it is so valuable to have a pool, a kitchen, a dining room to do take-out and space to spread out. I will admit I was a bit apprehensive when I learned the owner does live on site but this was a big-time positive on our trip. Anne is a real pro at knowing just how much to interact with guests and provide a helpful recommendation here and there. Like she says in the listing, you can interact with her as much as you please. When it was time to leave, my kids hugged her 'aloha'. When the neighborhood was put under a tsunami watch late one night, she texted reassurances and informed us when it was over. The same was true when we needed information on the wildfires near Waimea or when the emergency siren was tested. Thanks again for opening your home to travelers looking to live our their fantasies of moving to Hawaii. A hui ho!
