Looking for a tranquil summer getaway? Our cabin on the beautiful Mississippi River has a hot tub overlooking the river and the fire pit, a fireplace to cozy up inside, and lots of space to go for a peaceful walk in the woods. Our deck is ready for you to watch the sunrise in the morning with your coffee and a book and to enjoy the sunset after you play in the rapids, and then head into the hot tub.
Come get away from the city to our incredible log cabin on the Mississippi River an hour from Ottawa and Kingston. Built from wood harvested directly from the property, there is a sumptuous great room with a huge floor to ceiling fireplace. The fireplace has an insert to provide natural wood heating and gives off that wonderful wood warmth. The room is filled with cathedral ceilings, picture windows overlooking the beautiful Mississippi River; stained glass inserts made by a local Perth artist, bicolour pine floors, log stairs/railings. It is a fully furnished, 2400 square foot log cabin home situated on 5 acres of beautiful woods. We are west facing and you can sit on the deck and watch the amazing sunsets over the river. This is a 4 season cabin, with different delights in each season – fall colours, pristine snowfalls, summer fun in the water, and new spring growth to enjoy. This is a place to relax, to clear your mind of the stresses of daily life. Your soul will be settled and refreshed. This is our family cottage and we invite you to share it with us.
2 bedrooms each have a queen bed, plus there are 2 twin beds and 1 queen bed in the finished bright basement. We have 3 full baths, one on each floor, one with a heat lamp for added coziness. There is hardwood on the second floor, a mostly carpet over the cement basement, and the main floor is ceramic tile and wood.
We have 300 feet of secluded shoreline with a river ready for playing in. Bring your water shoes and get ready to play in the rapids. There is one spot that is deep enough to submerge and be massaged by the water coming down.
The cabin is equipped with BBQ, kayak, and canoe. There are nearby boat launches on Stump and Miller Lakes for your boats and SUPs and for swimming.
On the river, we sometimes see otters and a beaver playing in the water! Deer and turkeys often walk down the driveway on their way through the forest. We have porcupines and squirrels. The water quality is amazingly crystal clear with gentle access for both adults and small children. We have a dog friendly policy, please inquire with the owner if you would like to bring your pet. The river is well known for fishing.
In the spring, if the water is high, you can launch a canoe or kayak from our beach as well.

We had fun in the rapids, visited yummy cheese makers and craft breweries around, spacious cottage, comfortable deck chairs and available owner of something goes wrong or if we have questions. 110% would recommend. We will be back!

Our second time here and it did not disappoint :)

We chose the cottage for a small family getaway (2 parents, two adult children and their dogs). It appealed to me because it was a bit unusual--the cottage is on a riverbend with rapids going by the house. It wasn't ideal for swimming, alas, but there are beaches near by. The cottage is quite secluded (there are properties not far away but the trees provide a lot of privacy). The cottage is spacious and has a brand-new kitchen. We had a few problems (no phone reception, some things we couldn't find) but resolved these quickly by contacting the owners.

Gorgeous log cottage with an absolute stunning view of the rapids. Water is nice and warm in July. The sound of the water is so soothing. Comfortable atmosphere. Thank you so much!

First visit of hopefully many! We absolutely loved our stay. Lots of fresh snow followed by warmer weather made for a perfect week of snowball fights, board games and relaxing in the hot tub. Already missing the sound of the river! We'll be back!!

We were looking for a relaxing, private and comfortable getaway and this cabin checked all the boxes and more. Would highly recommend these hosts and cabin to couples who wish to get away from the busyness of everyday life and enjoy nature at its finest.

A winter wonderland! We had the most wonderful weekend at the Bend in the River. From the moment we arrived we were blown away by the considerate and beautiful touches. The hot tub, outdoor firepit and view of the river from the decks kept us outside even in the wintery weather. Inside the beautiful fireplace and living area kept us entertained. Beds were comfy and the kitchen exceptionally well provisioned.
We are already planning our next trip!

We've stayed here twice before over the past 3 years. This was our first time in the winter. The river wasn't frozen but was beautiful. The hot tub was great and it was so cozy in the (spacious) cabin with the fire going. No hesitations in recommending this cottage to others except that we want to keep it our own little secret! We're already planning out next visit. Thank you to the Holland family!

The owners are good at communicating, and prepared to the place for our stay. The instructions are clear, all amenities were as advertised and in good condition.

Lovely “log cabin” set next to dramatic white water of the Mississippi River on rugged, wooded land glowing with the bright colours of fall. Comfortable place and the owner was most considerate. Perfect spot for a quiet getaway.

What a beautiful, hand-made log cabin. The location is incredibly beautiful, with several spots to sit and watch the river. It was a fantastic week for me and my family 😀

Such a beautiful cabin, an amazing retreat and wonderfully relaxing location, just a short drive from Ottawa. Everything we needed and then some, clean and comfortable, very private. Even on rainy days, it was so nice just sitting by the fireplace and watching the river flowing by right outside. Hosts were great, helpful and responsive when we had questions.

We had an amazing time chilling out at the very bend of the river, cooking on the fire pit and resting in style at this lovely log house.Communication with the owners was clear and almost instant, through messaging. We will stay again here anytime we can.

I have rented a lot of properties and while some have been very nice, I have never favourited any, until now!So peaceful, so beautiful! The sound of the rushing water could put you to sleep and is incredible relaxing. Everything is set up and so easy to facilitate inside and out. An amazing location for a getaway with friends or family. It’s very private so you really feel like you’re away at a spa or retreat but could definitely be a great for a louder fun time too. We’re already looking for future availability and would love to stay here again!!

The cottage was fantastic and so was the landscape. Our family had fun and relaxed together. Perfect getaway during Covid, all that stress washed away with the river.
