I booked the castle for its quirky title, interesting pictures, location & its size (we had a pretty big group). Michael Ray, and partner Kristen were lovely. Michael met us upon arriving to the castle. He gave us a history of the house, and more than a few great suggestions for places to visit, wine tastings and activities. Honestly the BEST experience with a host EVER! He put the icing on a wonderful vacation cake!

What a charming place. Loved the area and the proximity to so many things to do. Michael gave some amazing recommendations on where to go and what restaurants were his favourites. We came down for our 25th with our two kids and two other dear friends. Would come back again.

Delightful, eccentric aspects in an exceedingly comfortable and generously proportioned property!
Met upon arrival by very welcoming and knowledgeable host (who also kindly lent me a guitar👌🌟❗️) who shared history of house and area.
— Seriously — Whatever I say will not adequately convey how much we all enjoyed staying here: We are all already plotting how and when to return...

Great location for day trips, north, south, east or west. Plenty of room won't be on top of each other. Michael gives great suggestion, I would strongly recommend. Kitchen full stocked for cooking.

Wonderful property. It feels like you're in a secluded location since you're surrounded by towering redwoods! This place is centrally located in the valley and was a great location to cycle out from! Michael is a fantastic host and spends as much time with you as needed to make sure you know where to go in the area.

We rented the castle for 5 nights. The location was perfect between the Charles Schultz Airport and Memorial Hills Cemetery. Lots of beautiful areas on property for family photos. Super quite location. Got a kick out of listening to the coyotes. The home was clean and accomodated 7 adults perfectly. The owners were very friendly and met us at the home to walk us through and answer any questions. The beds were very clean and comfortable. Lots of amenities that we were able to use. Saved us from traveling with so much extras. Hot tub was very nice. The kids enjoyed the party room with pool table. Thank you from our family.

We really enjoyed our stay. The house is certainly unique, beautiful, clean, well maintained and has very unusual layout. Plenty of space to spread out. Teenagers can have their own quarters.
Bedding is comfortable, pillows could be better. Bathrooms/showers worked great.
High end kitchen appliances and propane grill on the deck. Did not use hot tab, but it was there and ready. Too bad the fireplace is not functioning.
Walking distance and short drives to numerous wineries.
Many thanks to Michael, who is a great host. He met us in person, gave a detailed tour and history lesson about the house. His local knowledge and recommendations were invaluable.
Would love to stay again one day.

We had a great time visiting wine country with a group of six friends! Michael Ray was wonderful and very accommodating, he even met us after a late flight in the evening of our arrival. Plenty of things to do, centrally located and very smooth process overall. The house is very unique and we enjoyed our stay.

We stayed at Michael's place for a week to celebrate Thanksgiving. The place was clean and comfortable and had all the cookware and bakeware needed for our Thanksgiving feast. We used the hot tub and the deck space and enjoyed them both. Michael checked in on us to see if we needed anything and also dropped off some apples he had just picked from his tree. I would stay here again in minute

We really enjoyed our stay at the Castle House. I have to say, we were a little concerned about what we would find after reading a recent review. Fortunately, what we did find was nothing like that review. The beds were comfortable, the house was fresh and clean and the spa was crystal clear. Michael was a gracious host sharing winery, restaurant, and day trip suggestions. We look forward to our next visit to the Castle House!

Outside is beautiful, landscape, tall trees, ivy, decks and the views...all perfect. The main house has a nice great room and picture views from windows. Beds were very uncomfortable, seemed like old mattresses. The sheets and pillows smelled musty. The shower heads in both bathrooms clogged or calcified that very little sprayed out of them. Plenty of towels which is a plus. No dust pan but lots of brooms. No laundry soap and the dryer did not work properly. My husband had to put the closet doors back on the track.
Worms in the spa..never got in it myself but kids loved it. The tunnel and game room..kids had a blast playing hide and seek, tag and running back and forth with plenty of room to burn energy. However, there were so many safety hazards, bannister rail about to fall off, cupboards in the bar area can be opened but not useable or working and are exposed and unfinished carpentry with boards, nails, broken tiles, sharp jagged unsafe etc...seems better to seal them shut and use them only for looks.
The pool table nice. For the price it was fair but would not stay here again.

What a neat home! The pictures are accurate. Such a fun and unique home very conveniently located in the middle of a seemingly endless amount of vineyards. 5 of us were quite comfortable.
A review wouldn’t be complete without mentioning how helpful the host (Michael) was upon our arrival. He met us at the property and proceeded to give us a very detailed rundown of all the restaurants, wineries, and activities to check out in the area. Very gracious.
If you’re visiting the area and are looking for a well appointed, spacious, and totally unique rental, you’d do well to book this property.

The Castle House has something for everyone- fish ponds, hidden garden treasures and a tunnel for the kids to explore, a game room with a very unique history- perfect for entertaining friends, and my favorite- a lovely outdoor deck surrounded by redwoods where we ate most of our meals. The best place for a family vacation!

We were a group of long time friends biking along the Pacific coast. We had a last minute change of plans and were fortunate enough to find this amazing home, and spend a week riding in wine country. Michael was a great, informative, responsive host. The house is perfectly situated to explore the beauty of Sonoma and wine country. The kitchen was well stocked and the bedroom configuration worked great for us. We hope we can come back!

Michael was very easy to get ahold of when we needed to and greeted us in person when we arrived to familiarize us with the house and give us excellent tips on things to do and places to eat. We visited many wineries, the safari and Bodega Bay. Thank you, Michael for being a great host!

Brought a group of ladies to have a Royal Birthday Celebration in The Castle. It was exactly as expected. Being so close to Martin Ray was a highlight. Wanna come back in warmer temp months to spend more time outside & enjoy the grounds. The Host was amazing!
We will be back...

Our trip was to visit wineries with friends that had not been to Ca wine country before. Michael was a great host in showing the house amenities but the true value for us was his winery recommendations. This was our 5th trip so we know the area but Michael gave us new places to check out with discount coupons. Every place we went knew of the Castle House and Michael which meant it felt like we got special treatment. (Favorites, Wilson, Kokomos, Colograssi, Williamson, Sbragia) The locations is perfect. 40 minutes to the coast, 20 minutes to Healdsburg and lots of wineries within a 20 minute drive. My wife and I played golf at the Northwood golf course which is close by, has club rentals and is one of the most beautiful course within the redwood trees and only $50 including a cart! Oliver's grocery was a nice recommendation as the kitchen has everything and lots of extras like spices, coffee and things like that. If you are not from California (we are from Tampa) be prepared for sticker shock on prices from gas at $6+/gal to $18 burgers and wines @ $35-60/bottle. The deck area is large and comfortable with a decent grill. The strange red half bathroom is part of the stone bedroom and above the pool table/bar room and separate from the main house via the tunnel which was nice. The Castle House served as the center piece of our wine country dream vacation!

We had a lovely trip and enjoyed staying at the castle. There were five of us and we had plenty of room to spread out. The deck was our favorite place to hang out and the kitchen was well equipped. Michael was a very hands on host. Would highly recommend the castle.

The location was amazing, set back in a redwood grove and surrounded by vineyards. Lots of cool stuff going on with the house just adds to the adventure. We had a blast!

It was by far the best vacation ever! Michael was a great host too, he gave us suggestions of places to go and things to see. We just enjoyed our stay here at the castle.
