The best supplied rental we have ever stayed in.
Very clean and communication was exceptional.

This is our favorite place in Hawaii, we've probably stayed ten times at least; it’s just a couple of blocks from tiny downtown Hawi’s shops and restaurants. The house is older but it’s in great shape and comfy, with updated kitchen and bathrooms. It's generously sized, has a big front and back yard, covered porch, carport for two cars, space to park a couple more, and a covered lanai. There are three bedrooms and two and a half baths, laundry room, living room, big dining room and a big kitchen with another dining area. It's clean and well equipped, and the manager is communicative and helpful. The quirky layout means if all three bedrooms are used, some guests need to go thru someone else’s bedroom to reach a bathroom. WiFi was slow but worked for movies; cell data was also slow. There’s occasional minor daytime traffic noise, and most days a neighbor on one side or the other briefly made noise with tools a few times. But at night it’s very quiet.

We spent 5 weeks at Hawi Haven. Hawi is a cute little town with a great coffee spot and some quality small shops for locally produced goods. This house is very spacious and comfortable. The kitchen is large and extremely well supplied. Chris, the contact person who manages the property, was a pleasure to deal with, prompt and helpful. We hadn't appreciated how much driving we would do - but it was all worth it! Highly recommended.

We really loved our stay at the Hawi House, the location was great and easy check in. The house had plenty of room for our family of four, the bathroom, room set up is a little strange, but not a problem. We had a great time staying here.

We were totally charmed by this roomy, airy and classic bungalow, so obviously well cared for. We were amazed by how fully and wonderfully equipped it was for guests. They thought of EVERYTHING! Gracious hosts and wonderfully helpful caretaker, to whom we are very grateful. Loved all the books. A convenient stroll to downtown Hawi, and a nice little grocery store right across the street. We certainly hope to return!!

This is our favorite place to stay in Hawaii, we've probably stayed at least 6 or 7 times by now. The house is older but has a lot of character and is in great shape with updates where it makes sense. It's only a block away from shops and restaurants in tiny Hawi town. It's good sized, has a big front and back yard, carport for 2 cars and covered lanai, 3 bedrooms and 2.5 baths, a living room, big dining room and big kitchen. It's super clean and very well equipped, and the manager is helpful and easy to communicate with. One of the full baths is off the kitchen but the others can only be accessed through bedrooms so this could be a minor privacy issue if you're using all 3 bedrooms. WiFi is kind of slow. As of early 2023 there is a house being built next door, but while were were there for 10 days in January we only heard construction noise for a couple hours on and off on two different days. Neighbors on the other side are pretty quiet.

Hawi Haven was a welcome respite to begin our relaxation on the Big Island. The house was beautiful and so well maintained. Communication with the owner and property manager was excellent. Such a beautiful setting for our exploration of the northern part of the island. We would highly recommend a stay at this home.

This home is obviously lovingly cared for, nicely restored, and has beautiful art and furnishings. It's close to all North Kohala area sites. Directions to the house could be much simpler, as it was very close to the main road- which was not stated. We did find it easily, after turning around. The Visitor guidebook in house could use some more general information about the area and less info about organized tours and tour guides. The kitchen was great for cooking- had everything one could need! Because we wanted to rent this house, we agreed to the somewhat odd requirement to take our own trash and recycling to the drop off center upon leaving. It seems that the cost of the cleaning fee should have covered this task for the owners' local host/cleaner. Perhaps it is a covid concern? If so, it would be nice to state that, otherwise it seems like your housecleaner has an issue about handling trash or has no transportation to deal with taking the trash to the drop off. Though Shelly was covering for her sister, and she lives in Hilo, she did her best to answer our questions about the area, and was a good local host contact. Guests should be aware there are mosquitos in this region, and the front screen doors have a gap that can let them in. If you are attractive to mosquitos, we recommend not leaving the front door(s) open. We enjoyed our stay here very much.

We enjoyed our stay at Hawi Haven so much. The house is adorable, so clean, and well stocked with everything you’ll need for your stay. I’ve never stayed at a rental with such fine attention to detail. We enjoyed playing the myriad of games provided and listening to Hawaiian music on the CD player in the evening. The internet is fast, in case you need to work a bit like I did. The location is just a short 2 min walk into Hawi town, where you can get groceries, espresso, ice-cream, and breakfast. Some of the Big Island’s finest beaches are just a 25 min or so drive away, which we didn’t mind at all for the solitude of Hawi. Come enjoy this area and Hawi Haven before it’s “discovered”!

Our stay at Hawi Haven was peaceful and relaxing. The little town, the authentic charming Hawaiian bungalow with a huge well equipped kitchen, comfortable furniture and inviting areas to linger inside and outside was the perfect environment for our family. We called it Hawi Heaven!

Return to our favorite town on the Big Island
We love staying in Hawi - the people are so kind. Access to the mountains and beaches is great. This house was so sweet - very comfortable, lots of little extras (picnic gear, water bottles, rice maker) and the hosts and the property manager were very responsive.

Hawi Haven feels like home
We loved our visit to Hawi Haven! The house felt like home and had everything we needed and wanted. Have stopped in Hawi on several other trips, but never stayed there before...that will change. Hawi and Hawi Haven are definitely on the list for future trips! Mahalo

Hawi Heaven for sure
Really enjoyed this house and all of the amenities porvided. You thought of everything from first aid to beach supplies, paper products and more. Really nice stay here, ate the giant avacados that fall off the tree and enjoyed the farmers market for local produce. Good communication with Chris and felt welcomed. Thanks for the stay

Wonderful house
The house is very charming and equipped with everything (kind of like staying at a friend's house). Loved every bit of it, including the location, which is right by the little strip of "downtown" Hawi. Next time we just need to stay longer.

Great Hawi House
Super cute & clean. Way cooler than down in Kona. Close to Spencer Beach & Waimea. Comfortable beds & plenty of hot water for party of 3. Nearby market in Kapaau -Tokata’s friendly people😊

Like home away from home
This is our go-to place in Hawaii. We love the feel of the house, it’s very homey and comfy, not super fancy, but it is kept in good shape and has all the necessary amenities. The neighborhood is quiet and only a couple minutes walk to (a few) shops and restaurants - it’s Hawi after all, and part of what makes it charming is that it’s small! Chris the manager was easy to get ahold of and helpful. A few minutes drive will get you to a few more markets and restaurants, but anything else is a longer drive to Waimea or Kona.

Amazingly dangerous property!
This was an amazing stay in Paradise. The house was beautiful, with everything you could need and more. The reason I say it is dangerous, a gentleman drove by the house one morning as we were talking to the very friendly neighbors. He said the property was dangerous, it seems as though people who stay here, end up moving to the island. I would definitely recommend staying at Hawi Haven. It truly felt like home!

Great place to experience the Hawi side of the island
This is an excellent home to stay in while visiting the Big Island. The price is reasonable. The home is clean and roomy, and the owners are generous and thorough with all that they offer. I highly recommend staying here!

Hawi is a wonderful quiet and quaint town. The house was a pleasure to stay at...Hawaiian decor and lovely, comfortable bedrooms. Cool temperatures in the evening. Very peaceful and relaxing neighborhood. One of the best family beaches, Hapuna beach was only 30 mins away, that's a quick drive on the big island. The location was ideal for us to visit Waimea, Kona, Hilo, and even Kīlauea. The distance to the majority of the must see sights on our list was ideal, compared to staying in Kona.

Hawi Haven
What a quaint little cottage in Hawi! Everything and more was available at the cottage and the location was perfect. If you are looking for a relaxing spot at the North end of the Big Island this is the place you are looking for.

Excellent place to stay out in the country
We had such a good time with this property. The kids ran around the yard chasing geckos and the side street is not heavily traveled. If you want to stay on the big island and want to get away from the touristy stuff and traffic, this is the ticket. Hawi is such a cute town with a lot to offer those who seek a more rural setting. Truly a slice of paradise.

Wedding in Hawi
Hawi Haven has everything you will need for a "home away". It was well stocked with linens, towels, dishes, cookware, etc. The décor is charming and very Hawaiiana. Sitting on the lanai with morning coffee was a big highlight. The owners are gracious and flexible. The House Manager was extremely responsive. We were minutes from Hawi which was so convenient. We totally enjoyed our stay and would recommend this property wholeheartedly. When we return to Hawi we will definitely stay here again. Mahalo!

Quiet and Spacious
This property is very close to the main part of town. All the rooms are spacious. The kitchen has everything you possibly need. The beds are very comfortable and there's plenty of room for everyone. Don't worry about no air conditioning because there's many windows and fans to help keep the house cool. They also have a large selection of books and games. The mud room / laundry room is fully equipped. The owners and property manager are easy to contact and very friendly.

Hawi Haven ❤️
We have stayed in this lovely home for a few years now and it's always perfect for our group! So close to town with great shops and not too far from beaches. We enjoyed our stay and hope to be back in your lovely home! Mahalo for everything.

Great hone in Hawi Town
This property is in a great location and is supplied with everything you could need. The Hawi area is an excellent location to escape the resort scene but yet be within 30 minutes of world class beaches!

The Sweetest Plantation House
The husband and I just returned from two weeks in this charming plantation house. If you want to "live like a local" Hawi Haven is the place. We felt like we were at home. The house is comfortable, clean and as others have mentioned, incredible well equipped. There were just the two of us on this trip but this sweet home would be great for two couples or a family. After a day at the beach, we were able to park the car and walk to coffee, food, beer, cocktails and on a few occasions, great local music! Linda was a pleasure to work with. She was very responsive to our emails and inquiries, which made our vacation run smoothly. We would definitely recommend Hawi Haven! Mahalo Linda and until next time......

Comfy and convenient
We keep coming back... this is a great place to stay. It's an older place in good shape with lots of character. It's located only a couple of blocks from the tiny center of Hawi town (but still usually reasonably quiet) and it's clean, fully equipped and comfortable. Giovanna the manager is easy to reach and helpful. Being an old house in Hawaii it is unavoidable that you will sometimes see some bugs, but they weren't a problem.
