About this cabin rental
Guests love our remodeled and updated Nantucket style beach cottage! Come enjoy a clean, carefully decorated, vacation get-a-way. Enjoy preparing a dinner of local seafood in the remodeled kitchen and eat out on our screened in porch. Our house is best suited for families or two couples.
We are just blocks from the beach and 1.7 miles from the Sanderling Inn and only 2.2 miles from the village of Duck, NC. A great location for weddings, honeymoons, and family reunions, our OBX beaches were rated #1 by US Travel.
To make your visit more pleasant, we recommend renting Sunday to Sunday during the busy summer season, to avoid the worst of the change over gridlock. Although our listing does allow 5 night stays, these work best in the fall season. We rent weekend to weekend during the high season of June through Labor Day. So arriving on Saturday will mean a departure date of Saturday or Sunday.
A damage deposit is not required but $78 Insurance policy is required.

Guests loved the charming, well-equipped cottage with a short walk to the beach. The neighborhood was friendly, and the screened porch was a favorite spot for relaxation. A perfect vacation!

My family and I spent a wonderful week in Duck. This listing had everything we needed and we are already planning a trip again next year!

It was a great place to stay, had everything we needed, and communication with the owner was helpful and straightforward. Would definitely stay here again

The property was awesome
The only issue was the neighbor across the street
She made it very clear she did not care for renters and felt they did not clean up after their pets! We were clearly cleaning up after our pet, poop bags in hand, she was not a friendly person! We loved the property and it was very clean! Owners were easy to contact as well.

Clean cozy house, close the beach. Good for small family. Some layout issues and the neighbors broken down cars and boats on the lawn diminish the 'vibe' but overall a decent stay.

Just like the casual lake cottage of my youth, this house has a rustic laid back vibe. Surprisingly babies that needed naps, tweens, teen and adults had plenty of space to get away from each other. The screened porch was always in use, the neighborhood was very sweet, wonderful neighbors, lovely uncrowded beach. Everyone came home happy.

This was indeed a well loved cottage—nothing like the new large flashy homes you find everywhere—but it provided everything my family needed for our week in the Outer Banks. Everyone had his or her own bed, and the children had their own full bath upstairs while my husband and I had our own en suite downstairs. The main floor was bright with many large windows which was very nice. The table was large enough to accommodate five comfortably (which is something you don’t always find!). The kitchen was fully equipped and the fridge space ample. The towels and linens provided were a big plus. There were extra goodies for taking to the beach—which was truly a three minute walk WITHOUT having to cross a busy road. The neighborhood is QUIET!! You do not feel like you are in a resort town, even though you are right off the main road with Duck right there. Its overall location was great. I cannot recommend enough!

Lovely neighborhood with friendly neighbors. Our pups enjoyed the yard and all the critters that visited at night. Short walk to the beach and tons of restaurants within 20 minutes.

As a group of four adults (one couple and two single adults), this was our seventh summer renting vacation homes in Duck. Upon arrival to the Odd Duck Inn, we were surprised to find the third of three bedrooms was in fact an open-air, non-private space outside a full bedroom with unsuitable mattresses for adult sleeping. As a result, we did need to secure alternative lodging for one adult in our group. Todd issued a 10% discount for the inconvenience, has updated the VRBO description to reflect the sleeping arrangements more accurately, and indicated a new mattress for the double bunk bed is on order. If you are only in need of two private bedrooms with additional bunk beds, then this rental will work for you. The kitchen is well stocked, the screened in porch is lovely, the two private bedrooms are comfortable, and it is a short easy walk to the beach.

We are a family of 5 plus two dogs and we just got back from a wonderful stay at the Odd Duck Inn. We had the perfect OBX week. The cottage was cozy, clean, and charming. The beach was a 3 minute walk and we were centrally located to so many great things to do. Todd was responsive, easy to work with, and the check in/check out directions were crystal clear. We had a wonderful vacation!

We loved this house and hated to leave! It was more adorable in real life! Very handy outside shower (wash the dogs!) We grilled everyday and had a lobster feast to honor New England style. Lovely screened in porch& decks. We loved this neighborhood. Played tennis at Pine Island, 10 minutes down the road. People are so friendly! Ocean was warm, beach around the corner! We will return.

The only concern was the neighbors across the road with so many vehicles and the dog although contained did make us a little uncomfortable. The mattresses could be updated.
The location was great though.

Beautiful beach home with all you would need. Not over the top or showy but perfect for quiet relaxation and fun. The screened in porch was a perfect hangout spot with a table for dining and a porch swing. Short walk to a wonderful private beach. We loved every minute of our stay at the Odd Duck Inn!

Perfect walk to the beach and the bay. House was super clean and the perfect lay out for my family (husband and 2 kids under 6). Very close to all the shops in Duck that we hiked to a few times. Also a nice drive up to Corolla as well.

The Odd Duck In was perfect for our family of four. The house was immaculate and well stocked with the essentials. Our favorite part was the screened in porch and the kids loved the pirate themed bunk bed. Todd was super helpful with our questions and checkin was a breeze. Would definitely stay here again.

Cozy beach cottage
We loved our stay at the Odd Duck Inn! The location is AMAZING! Great neighborhood! The beach access is just a two minute walk down the road. There is so much to do within short drive or bike ride. There were alot of bugs and spiders, mostly outside. Honestly had a 10/10 vacation in Duck!

cozy home
Our small family had a very nice and relaxing time here. It rained most of the week so part of the front lawn/road was flooded, but the house had all the necessities and comforts we needed. It's a very short walk to the beach and short drive to main Duck restaurants/shops/attractions. Owners are very responsive and neighbors very friendly. We hope to be back again.

Our stay at the Odd Duck Inn
Our family really enjoyed the odd duck inn! The house was in a great quiet neighborhood just a short walk to the beach. A wonderful kitchen, large screen porch with swing, and comfortable living spaces. It was a perfect size house and a great layout for our family group. The host was very easy to get in contact with and eager to help out in any way. We had a few small hiccups with the cleaning service when we checked in, but Todd was so helpful and quickly got things in order.

Fabulous family vacation in Duck
Three generations of us stayed at the Odd Duck Inn ( 4 adults, 2 children) for 6 days over Memorial Day.. We loved the house and location!! The house was large enough for us to spread out over two floors and had everything we could possible need - games, puzzles, pingpong, corn hole, well equipped kitchen complete with spices and herbs and some condiments in the fridge and even coffee to get us started. We loved the screened in porch with sea and sound breezes, the upstairs open deck and the little front deck which was perfect for moon watching. The beach was a short walk and the host provided beach chairs, umbrellas and boogie boards which made hours on the beach comfortable. Todd was incredibly responsive to our questions and very flexible and friendly. The village of Duck was just a short car ride away with great restaurants and shops . Weekend traffic was heavy so we did our Outer Banks attractions on the weekdays which was a good tip from Todd, the owner. This is not a fancy place but attractive, homey and completely comfortable and we would definitely choose the Odd Duck Inn again!

You get what you pay for
Comfortable house, quiet neighborhood, easy walk to beach. House was as advertised with the exception of old windows that were challenging to open (owner was responsive and said windows are going to be replaced). We spent many hours on the screened in porch- perfect for reading. The neighbors were nice. Also be advised that the roads in Sound Sea Village are gravel.

Ideal beach cottage
We really enjoyed our stay at this beautiful and comfortable small beach cottage. It is the ideal size place for our small family of four (2 adults, 2 young children and 1 dog). It is a short walk to the beach and an easy 5 min drive to the town and boardwalk area in Duck. The yard and quiet neighborhood are so pretty and peaceful. Great morning sunlight in every room and stargazing on the roof deck at night. The screened in porch, outdoor shower, and upstairs sun deck really make this place the whole package. New beach chairs and kids beach toys were an added bonus that we really appreciated. Thank you Todd and Robin for sharing this gem with us! We hope to return again soon.

This was my family and I's third time stay at the odd duck inn, we always come back because we enjoy the location. Quite walk to the beach, far enough from the road so you don't hear cars driving by, friendly neighbors, short drive too the board walk overall a great place to stay! Our favorite spot is the porch it's the perfect spot to chill after a day at the beach. Todd is a friendly guy and reached out often before our trip to make sure we would have everything we needed for our stay. The lock box was a little difficult too open but nothing we couldn't manage. We also couldn't get the TV in the up stairs bedroom too work but that gave us a reason to enjoy our time together as a family a little more. I highly recommend booking this location for your next vacation - The Allen Family

The porch was a great spot to hang out! The house is cute, location was close to the beach. Plenty of room and the a/c worked very well. Outdoor shower was roomy!

Disappointed
Overall, it was a misrepresentation on several levels. Trying to open the weathered and old lock box to retrieve house keys was frustrating. Really, a new one is not THAT expensive.
Cleanliness was a problem, it didn't appear the upstairs was vacuumed as I found clothing under the bed. Upstairs shades were in sad shape. One badly torn, one ripped, one unable to close and not able to release to open. The tv's s were Not conventional , in fact the App!e TV did not have live coverage for news, weather or sports. Instructions useless. Upstairs tv was just as complicated. We wanted a gas grill, instead an old state park charcoal grill is the option, and for 2 people a hassle to fire up. Beach chairs were sand chairs, VERY difficult to get up, especially with bad backs, knees or other problems renters may have. A ceiling fan on the enclosed porch would have been good, considering the hi heat and humidity. On a good note the smoke detector/carbon monoxide detector is new, because it died while we we there. We brought our own pillows, thankfully, theirs needed to be repaced/cleaned,, and our own spreads. If your car is small and cannot hold a gas grill, nice pillows/spreads, another way to watch live, local tv, then this rental will not be a good fit for you.

Great getaway spot in Duck
Todd was great to work with! The house was exactly as advertised and shown in the photos. Cute details everywhere you look. The size was perfect for our group of 2 adults and 5 kids. A short 5 minute walk to the beach. We ate every meal in the large sunroom, which was lovely. We would definitely come back!

Peaceful Getaway
This was our fourth stay in this relaxing beach house and it was truly a welcome restful retreat in what has been for us a stressful year. The house is easy to live in, practical in its layout, well-supplied, and a reasonable walk to the beach. The owners are very responsive to any questions we might have. The whole family looks forward to this getaway and we are already looking forward to next year.
