This is our 2nd time at Sweetwater and it like coming home, my thanks to Amanda & Nathan!!

We come to Ludington yearly and this is our preferred place to stay. It's just north of Ludington on Hamlin lake, but close to Lake Michigan, as well. The cabin is perfect in size for 3 or 4 people. The amenities are all there, the wifi was fine, the kitchen supplied with plates, glasses, pots, pans, and utensils, and the washer and dryer is always helpful. I especially enjoy the secluded porch overlooking Hamlin lake. We had another enjoyable visit and we will certainly be back again in the future.

Everything about Sweetwater Cottage was perfect for our family. Check-in couldn’t be easier and the cottage was welcoming immediately. Our kiddos loved the bunk bed and the comfortable family room. We enjoyed family meals at the long table and outside. The location was perfect for hopping over to Ludington State Park and downtown to the beach and to dinner/shops. We 100% recommend and would return next weekend if we could!

Cute and stylish cottage. We enjoyed the back yard fire pit, grill, and picnic table. The front porch was quaint and perfect for morning coffee. It has a wooded lot, quiet after 10pm, and we could even see the stars at night. A quick drive into Ludington made it a quiet getaway but still close to shops and restaurants. We booked our stay for the the Fish on for Freedom event and were very happy with the cottage.

Should have shower bar in bathroom.
Handrail to laundry is not stable.
Backup batteries for clocks and remotes should be provided or checked between rentals
Overall the property was very nice. Thought there was more of a water view. We would stay there again.

I literally could have packed my clothes and toothbrush to stay there. The home is a beautifully decorated coastal cottage with hardwood floors, bead-board and shiplap. We are campers so we are used to bringing everything with us. You needn't do that at Sweetwater Cottage. The kitchen is fully furnished with everything you could possibly need. The beds are comfortable with a variety of pillows from firm to fluffy. There are nightlights throughout. They have a bench seat just inside the door with a boot tray underneath for sandy shoes and hooks above for your bag as you come and go. The living space is comfy and cozy with 2 sofas. The dining table is built for a crowd with two very long bench seats. The shower has great water pressure and seemingly endless hot water. There are chairs around the fire pit as well as low sand chairs that we took to the beach. The area is quiet and we were able to sit outside each night for a fire. No noisy neighbors, and a wooden fence for some privacy.
It is an older cottage so the floors are a bit uneven in places but it truly adds to the charm.
If I could give future renters advice I would say to bring an extension cord. As with any house, the outlet isn't always where you need it to be. Also the water is extremely hot which I fully enjoyed, but if you have littles you'll want to make sure they don't turn it up when they're in there. All in all I couldn't recommend this home highly enough. You'll have to check it out yourself.
Thank you for allowing us to stay! We enjoyed it so much.

My husband & I have stayed at Sweetwater Cottage a few times. It’s quaint, clean, well-appointed and in a great location. Bonus is that it’s dog friendly in a very walkable neighborhood.

Sweetwater cottage is a comfortable cottage with artistic touches. We enjoyed the covered porch and could sit out there well into the evening. Having a washer and dryer is a definite plus. Owners were very helpful and have a beautiful store (The Red Door) in Ludington.

First trip to Ludington. Great beaches / parks. The cottage has a lot of vintage charm. Tastefully decorated. Spent a lot of time on the covered deck (lake view, shaded by mature trees, blooming foliage all around). Loved the huge dining table (able to work on a puzzle with room to spare for meals). The kitchen is well-stocked (had everything we needed to cook the meals we planned). Slept well (comfortable mattresses and window A/C units). Made good use of the washer & dryer. Nice, big fire pit. Thanks for letting us bring our dog. Would stay here again.

cute cottage, great location
We had a great time exploring the Ludington area while staying in Sweetwater cottage. It is very nicely decorated and very clean. The beds are comfortable. The front porch is a great place to hang out outside. The owners were very responsive when I had a question. We used the access into the Lower Bayou around the corner for our paddleboard. Rode my bike out to Ludington St Park. Did a beautiful trail in Ludington St park and Nordhouse Dunes. Ludington is super cute town - recommend Jamestown Brewery.

We'll be back
This was our second stay at this cabin. We went to Ludington for the first time last year and enjoyed it enough to come back again this year. The Sweetwater cabin is in a great location, within minutes of the beach and downtown. The cabin has everything that we needed and the description of what is there is accurate. We will be coming back again next summer, which I think says it all.

Great stay
Fantastic stay at the cottage! Everything you need to make meals. Great covered porch which we used often. 10 minute drive to the hikes at Ludington State Park, and 10 minute drive into town for restaurants, breweries, groceries etc. Definitely will be back!

Great Place!
I wished I would have stayed a few more days… this was my favorite out of the 3 places I stayed at during my vaca. Super cute and quiet area. The only thing I would suggest is to mention it is directly on the corner and the driveway is the 1st on the left when you pull onto the road (I cannot remember the cross street lol). It was a little difficult to see the address, but I am also very directional challenged lol!

Quaint, Quiet and much too Quick that our Wonderful week went by at Sweetwater Cottage! Close to everything… Downtown Ludington, Beaches and Sand dunes! We had such a Good time! We Loved the large dining table to accommodate friends for dinner that were camping near by! We are a family of 5 and felt the cottage had enough space never feeling like we were on top of one another! I so Loved the porch swing! Every morning I was a Happy :) camper, swinging and enjoying my book sipping my morning coffee in a gorgeous mug handmade by the Owner herself Amanda! The floral one was my favorite! Perfect handle and rim! The cottage (as you may have already read a few times) is decorated so nicely with their own artwork throughout the house! Beds were pretty comfortable, but I suggest to bring your own pillow for added comfort. And Finally, do be prepared to cook a few meals at the cottage in the next few months, (August through September) since a lot of the restaurants are Very low on staff. As a result, there are long wait times! So Go early to dinner, Be patient if going late or Cook in the cute blue and white kitchen! The kitchen is well stocked, however bring your own cutting board, sauté pan and cookie sheet, theirs are quite worn out!! The home is a little but rickety since it is old… the floor is not very even so be careful walking! But overall we Loved our stay at this Adorable cottage! Hope you choose this Lovely cottage too! You won’t be disappointed!

A very good stay
We recently spent a week at this cabin in mid-June. It was a very good stay and I would gladly do it again. I don't have anything to add that hasn't already been mentioned by previous guests, but I'll run through our experience. The property is elevated and overlooks Hamlin Lake. This gives a pleasant view from the deck/porch. I found the rocking chair to be comfortable. The cabin was clean and stocked with the essentials. The kitchen was large enough to be able to prepare meals and contained most of the odds and ends. From previous experiences in cabins, we now travel with a good frying pan and a cutting board, which I would recommend to others, as well. The large dining room table was useful. The beds are in good shape; slightly harder than we have at home but a comfortable sleep. The bathroom is big enough although there wasn't much storage inside for cosmetics and such, so we ended up using the linen closet just outside of the bathroom and running back and forth for cosmetics. The outdoors was nice, with plenty of off street parking, a gas grill, picnic table, and fire pit with chairs. The downtown area of Ludington has some decent shops, ice cream, and a number of restaurants. A few restaurants have closed, many have restricted hours or closed days, so I ended up making a spreadsheet of what was opened on which days for which meals. The two brew pubs were probably our favorite; the Q Smokehouse was very good, but carry out only. The city park beach is great and not far, then the state park was close by, too. The state park charges $9 per car per day if you aren't from Michigan. Many people park their cars on the side of the road on the way to the state park and access the beach that way.
So, it was a great trip and I would recommend both Ludington and the Sweetwater cabin to everyone. If given the choice, I would do it again exactly the same way. Hopefully, we will be back next summer.

We spent nearly three weeks at Sweetwater Cottage in late October, early November. The cottage was everything we expected and as advertised. Super charming, and well appointed. We even had a few nice days during our stay to sit on the front porch—which turned out to be great feature of this property. Reliable internet/WiFi service made working remotely (as needed) seamless. Great to have access to laundry, outdoor fire pit, a gas fired grill, and well equipped kitchen. The cottage is located in an area that encourages long walks along the lake and at the beautifully managed and maintained nearby state park. Can’t wait to return. Our Norwich Terrier loved it as well. Thanks, Nathan and Amanda.

Easily accessible, spacious and attractive cottage by Hamlin South Bayou
This cottage had all the amenities of home. We loved the porch overlooking the bayou. It is attractively decorated and very clean. The Ludington State Park and Stearns Beach/downtown Ludington are less than a 10 minute drive. Lots to see and do. Look forward to staying here again in the future.
