The house is wonderful. The airplane noise is insane. But worth it if you're coming for wind sports.

This property is kid-friendly. Swings in the back yard as well as toys, games and books inside. Our 5 year old grandson was well entertained. There were also 5 adults and each family had their own room. The house is well stocked. January is gracious and she helped us out of a jam.

We were mostly older family members. One of us was bothered by the proximity to the airport and the planes. The rest of us forgot about them in a couple of days. The home worked well for a vacation. Not actually on the beach but close.
January is a perfect hostess. There but not there. If u need her she handles it. Mostly she just lets you do your on thing. We would definitely go back.

We loved our stay here. This house is in a great location, close to the airport and Paia. The house is charming, spacious and clean. The property boasts many different types of fruit trees like bananas, avocados and limes. There is a short walk to a private beach for beautiful sunrises' and sunsets. January was a great host, she was very accommodating and helpful with providing island recommendations. There was an occasional plane overhead but the noise was minimal and didn't detract from our experience. We would love to come back and stay here again!

Our little family of five stayed at the Banana Plantation property twice now and it’s been amazing both times! The house is clean, peaceful and a short walk to the beach. January has always been nothing but kind and helpful. Our kids adore her, the property and the beach! You are close to the airport so expect to hear airplanes at night. nothing that bothered us, however.
Thanks for having us…again :)

Brilliant stay at an amazing house right on the beach. Honestly a little gem of a place, photos don’t do the house justice, it’s large and comfortable with heaps of space. January was fab, very helpful whenever you needed her. If you aren’t happy in this place, you won’t be happy anywhere. We had an epic 2 weeks of kitesurfing and Defo will come back

Awesome Sprecks Hideaway
Great access to secluded north shore beaches for windsports. Out host January was super responsive. Charming home. Only issue is the planes. You are right underneath the runway for takeoff. I didn'think it would be a problem - just close the windows at night. But they don't want you to use their AC. So, in order to stay cool at night we had to keep everything open.

Lovely beach house
I booked this property to accommodate my parents and siblings during a family trip to Maui. They were very comfortable in the house and thoroughly enjoyed their stay. The property is cute and had everything they wanted for their trip, including access to beautiful little beach (although, make sure stay off the neighbor’s grass when walking there!). The property owner was helpful and communicative throughout. As noted in the listing, the property is very close to the airport, which is convenient but also quite loud. However, it did not bother anyone too much. All in all, a great stay.

Everything went easily while renting this property . Once I did the owner contacted me immediately to welcome us in to the house . When we arrived she was there to show us in and share all the things that we need to know. There was beautiful Kiwi that she had picked out of the yard that day which made a nice touch to the island in the kitchen.
January , Many thanks for sharing your great house with us.

Great property to enjoy the unbelievable watersports just out the door. Grassy rigging for windsurfing. The property manager ties it all in with a great attitude.

Close to private beac
We really enjoyed our stay at Banana Plantation.
Checkin very easy and January was always around to answer any questions. Fresh limes and bananas. Very clean house. Our boys loved the double bike.
Yard is beautiful.
The airport noise will definitely wake you if your a light sleeper. You do get used to it.
The only thing is there is no air conditioning.
There is a cool enough breeze and night when the June temperature drops.
However during the day it gets sticky.
We were on the go and didn’t notice it most of the time. The one day we did stay in to rest we had to be outside until it cooled down at dark.
We loved not being around a ton of tourists and close to the cleanest beach we saw on the island.

Banana Plantation
Quaint bungalow with a beautiful yard full of fruit trees in Paia. It has a lot of rustic charm. January, the property manager is personable and helpful. There is no air conditioning and it gets warm inside even with the breeze. This house is the not the place to stay if you are a light sleeper or sensitive to sound. It is across the street from the airport runway and planes take off continually throughout the day and at least 3 every night from 11p-5a and it is noisy. The beach is beautiful for walks and we saw turtles on the shore in the early am. Unless you are a kite or windsurfer, the water is too rough for snorkeling and swimming. They pride themselves on using natural products which is great, but unfortunately, we had issues with ants in the kitchen and cockroaches in one of the bedrooms

A stone's throw from airport and beach
This rustic home was spacious both inside and out. Perfect for families or larger groups. This home is located just steps from the beach and minutes from the airport. However, keep in mind, there is no privacy in this home (very thin walls) and between the planes flying all day every day (between 6am-2am) and the chickens and roosters crowing, this is not a place for peace and quiet or sleeping in. Other than that, it was a great home and the host was very accommodating.

Great place to stay
We loved our stay at the banana plantation. Our kids loved the property and you really don't get much closer to the beach. Most of the time it felt like we had the beautiful sandy beach all to ourselves. There is definitely plane noise but after a few days we grew used to it and our infant slept right through it. Would definitely recommend to anyone.

Comfortable, conveniently located, spacious
We are a family of 6 and I don't mean 4 little ones. We are a family of 2 parents, 2 adult children and 2 teenagers. Let me go further and say that we have 4 sons. When booking a place, space is ALWAYS the biggest concern. Next is location. Comfort and cleanliness. And number of bathrooms! (just keeping it real).
The Banana Plantation checked all of our boxes. Starting with the wonderful property manager, January, who greeted us upon arrival. Even before we arrived, she was so gracious to answer my many questions (she could probably get a side gig as a travel agent or vacation planner).
The house is super clean (and I am a bit of a clean freak), very spacious (lots of seating), and plenty of places for us to lounge & chill after a day of activities. The house is stocked with towels, blankets, etc, as well. I did find that I had to do laundry a few times because we went through the towels pretty quickly, but that was super easy because there is a full-sized laundry room in the house.
I think what I loved most was the location. It is literally steps away from the water. There is a private path that takes all of 2 minutes to walk from the property to the edge of the water. The water can be a bit choppy because it is on the north shore, but it was so fun to watch the kite surfers. My sons also came across sea turtles while they were out.
I loved the location and being so close to both Kahului and Paia. The road to Hana was right there and the drive to Lahaina was easy.
So you are probably wondering about the airplane noise. I'm not gonna lie. It's there. It's not quiet and not all of us got used to it. However, we all got plenty of rest. Some of us got earplugs (but they are light sleepers anyway) and we all enjoyed our stay at the Banana Plantation.

Stunning views and family friendly environment
We absolutely enjoyed our stay at the Banana plantation and will return in the future! Everything was perfect for our family from location to comfort of home. January was a helpful and kind host in every possible way. Thanks for having us,

Perfect for 6
This house was great. Quiet neighborhood, lovely grounds, great location, private beach. House was roomy. We loved the yard and lanai. Outdoor shower felt private and added a unique touch. Property manager was very responsive although we didn’t require much. The airport noise was not terrible. It ended by the time we were going to bed. Would definitely stay here again.

Charming Time Capsule
Wonderful property and good value on Maui. This was a spacious and incredibly well stocked home on the way more laid back north shore of the island. We enjoyed being a relatively easy drive all over the island. It is close to the airport, and therefore some noise as noted, but there aren’t planes after 11p until about 6a, so that worked perfectly for our schedules as an active young family. There is no AC also as noted which was totally fine morning and nights—great cross winds. It’s a bit hot if you’re home midday, but just take a short 2 min walk to the private beach to cool off. Some normal household critters inside too, but there is plenty of spray and it’s an organic house—no harsh chemicals which we liked. There is a reason why Hawai’i is so lush, that’s heat and rain, so critters come with the territory. (Not so different from an old school pre war apt in nyc) January, the property manager, is a wonderful resource for the home, it’s history, and fun off the beaten track things to do on the valley isle. We thoroughly enjoyed our week there and would go back in a heartbeat. Oh and yes, that photo of the private beach is totally real, no photoshop. Miss it already.

Bungalow in paradise
We loved our stay at this cute, spacious bungalow and hope to return. It is set back one house from a gorgeous private beach with an access path to the beach. January the manager of the rental could not have been nicer or more accommodating. Took a star off the rating because the house has no AC, it was hot when we stayed and the wind died for 3 days. Would probably be fine the rest of the year. Also, it is to the left of the airport strip where they take off. Got used to it and wore earplugs at night. The almost uninhabited beautiful semi-private beach more than made up for it as did January. She left a variety of fresh fruit for us daily from the properties' organic trees. If you are a kiteboarder or windsurfer this is your slice of heaven.

Beautiful inside and out! 90 second walk to a beautiful private beach!
The property was close to the airport and the directions were very easy to follow. Everything we needed was already there with the exception of clothes and food. The property manager was wonderful and very pleasant to work with. The fruit and flower trees on the property kept such a soothing and sweet smelling atmosphere in the home that we were immediately enveloped in a sense of peace. My wife and I plan to make another visit in the future, God willing, and would highly recommend renting this home as compared to renting a hotel. Renting the home helped make Maui feel more like home than just a visit. The only problems we had were extremely minor and quickly remedied: the WIFi was not operational and the television was not properly connected but our property manager came to work with us to fix the WIFI and I easily connected and set up the television (not that we watched it, as there was SO much to do! Thank you for helping us make a treasured memory!

Lush, well-stocked, gorgeous beach
Lovely Hawaiian home just steps away from a gorgeous beach. Well-stocked, spacious, and airy, situated along a mostly private road that you don’t find by accident. Conveniently located between Kahului and Paia town, easy drive to grocery store and Costco. Loved it!

Roomy for a group, convenient to the Hana Highway
The house has 3 bedrooms with comfortable mattresses. The kitchen, living room and TV area are all roomy and comfortable for a group of six adults. Things were clean and the kitchen was well set up for cooking with a group. We were there in the winter which meant big waves and surfers at the beaches which were fun to watch, but snorkeling and swimming were not possible for use. The outdoor shower was great, the lounge chairs in yard, plumeria blossoms on the grass and the private beach all make this a special place. The Hana Highway was great, we ended up doing it two times in three days. I highly recommend the Haleakala National Park. One end is waterfall at the end of Hana Highway and the other end is the top of a volcano, both are worth visiting. The Sugar Museum was very well done and worth visiting is you like local history or on a rainy day. The airplane noise is a thing but after a few days you tune it out, we had earplugs and used them at night. The yard is awesome, and we ate all our meals out at the table there.

Nice place to stay
We rented this house for 2 weeks because we were working on a progject near by so we didn’t get to enjoy it vacation Style. I would highly recommend it. It’s in a quite neighborhood and close to the beach with no traffic to deal with.

Best location for windsurfers and kiteboarders.
The Banana Plantation is a little known understated gem on the northshore of Maui. Tucked one row back from the beach it offers unparalleled access to one of the finest windsurfing/kiting beaches in the world. (Truth, not hype) We are able to stay "rigged" with our windsurfing sails throughout our stay hanging them in the shade of beautiful trees on a corner of the property. Large grassy areas make rigging sails convenient while palms and fruit trees provide the ultimate tropical experience. The easy going manager who lives in an adjacent house is helpful and available should you have questions and personally delivers ripe bananas and papaya picked from the property! The house is spacious and well maintained, super clean, easy to care for with tiled floors throughout.
Our family has returned for 8 years and can't get enough of what this home offers. This world class site is near the airport but the amenitites overshadow hearing the planes come and go. Just ask any pro. You won't be disappointed if water and beach access is important.

This house is a gem! Truly enjoyed the rip fruit from the trees !
January the manager is very welcoming and knowledgeable. The house is in a great location, private beach basicly. I walk to the beach everyday to watch the sunrise . Then came back to have a papaya or grapefruit fresh from the tree. The yard is amazing ,loved to loung in the chairs and watch the stars and palm trees blow. Really nice to have everything you need in the house. We made most of the dinners at home. The breeze blows through the house so no air conditioning required. The natural environment is great most things that are done have the environment in mind. I would stay here again over anything else on the island. Very charming ,cozy ,friendly and happy place. We also had pet chickens and roosters. There were six of us there and we all found there was enough space. Everyone loved the outdoor shower so private. There was everything you need there .

Perfect house with an amazing garden!
My wife and me spent 4 months in the house, together with our two kids (at age 2 and 4). The house, the garden and the whole place is absolutely outstanding! The shoreline is just 50 meters away, it's perfect for Windsurf, Kite oder SUP, but you can also just take a walk and enjoy the scenery. To Paia it's just a 5 minutes drive...
The house is nice and clean, I recommend it highly for families, but also for couples or just some friends. We and our kids especially loved the garden with all the fruits, I never saw such a garden before.
If you like watersports, you are in heaven: Kanaha is really close and when you are an advanced surfer or sailor, you shouldn't miss Hookipa which is pretty close too.
Last but not least the housekeeper is extremely friendly!
Too bad, that it is so far away from Switzerland... :-)

Perfect beach to wind/kitesurf
Our family of four stayed here for a week this summer. Large house with a large yard and garden area. The house has everything you need including numerous large beach towels, boogie boards, beach chairs, board games and a tandem bicycle. Second row house with beach access via an easement, 60 steps from back corner of yard to the sand! Close to the bike path to Kanaha Beach Park and Kitebeach, you can walk to Kanaha Beach about as quickly as you can drive it. All the homes in this area are subject to jet noise, we got used to it but it is loud when the jets takeoff. The single 3:00am departure every night was tough, but the others we got used to. Big house, great beach and perfect location for our vacation, we loved it!

Perfect spot for the sports lover
Really nice beach house. Laid back feel and a great place to relax. We were a group of cyclists and windsurfers so it suited us fine. Windsurfing right out the front meant never having to load gear in and out of a car. And Spreckelsville is a great location to start many of the nice bike rides around Maui.
The house is located very close to the airport so does suffer from noise. We never let it bother us as most of the day we weren't there or were too tired to care. But the occasional overnight flight will almost certainly wake you. For us the location outweighed the inconvenience of the noise. Aside from the air traffic noise, the house is located is a very peaceful, quiet neighbourhood.
A car is necessary staying here as there are no shops nearby. Plenty of nice restaurants 4km down the road in Paia. And a nearby bike path offers a short ride into Kahului.
Overall, a great place to relax, enjoy the beach and everything else north shore Maui has to offer. I'd definitely stay here again.

Family (Reunion) Vacation
We just stayed at the Banana Plantation for this summer's Family Vacation: my husband & I, along with two grown children, two high-school aged children and my husband's mother, who celebrated her 75th birthday. We had a fantastic time. The pictures give an accurate view of the beautiful lush gardens. The house is spacious; everyone had a bed and there was plenty of space for us all to spread out. The VRBO "ad" mentioned mild noise from airport traffic. It's true - you are near the airport. You will notice some planes take off on the first day or two, but then you quickly do not notice it. If the photos of the Banana Plantation "speak" to you, follow your gut instinct. We did and are so happy we made that decision. January was an excellent hostess and made us feel right at home. We will definitely stay here any time we revisit Maui.
We recommend this site to anyone. Old and young. Couples, large groups. It makes a great home base as you take day trips to explore the island. But also take advantage of the nearly private beach you have access to each day. We enjoyed that as well, in between our adventures exploring the island.

Wonderful Maui vacation spot!
Our New Zealand family stayed at the lovely "Banana Plantation" for a week, and had a wonderful time! The cute house and yard were set up perfectly for our pre and post wedding party activities, with heaps of space and amenities. The whole setting is truly charming, and we of course loved the beautiful private beach. We had some ripping surf sessions, with the big waves all to ourselves! We highly recommend staying here, especially since it's tucked into the best part of Maui (away from tourists), with the rest of Maui so conveniently accessible. Overall, staying here really drew us closer together and we hope to return someday!
