Aloha! Welcome to Hale Ma'kai (house beside the sea), my tropical-themed one-bedroom vacation condo in the Kihei Akahi complex in sunny Kihei. It is the perfect place to spend your Maui vacation. Hale Ma'kai is a spacious (696 SF), ground-floor condo with lanai opening out onto a large lawn. It has been decorated with tropical decor and filled with special details to provide a relaxing south seas home away from home.

UPDATES: The full-sized kitchen and bathroom have been updated with new cabinets, appliances and finishes. The living room sofa is regularly re-upholstered and carpeting replaced on a regular basis. New, quiet, energy efficient replacement windows have been installed. Most recent updates were new living room carpet (2018) and refrigerator (2017), new dishwasher, countertops with sinks and faucets in kitchen and bath (2018), and bathtub/shower re-glazing (2018). The bedroom has new carpeting, tropical furniture imported from the mainland and a new king mattress. It has a tropical quilt, staying consistent with the overall theme. Photos reflect the style of the condo.

OTHER AMENITIES include your personal washer and dryer, ceiling fans, a quiet window AC, free high-speed WiFi and free long distance phone service to the US and Canada. In addition, the condo has a flat panel TV with Spectrum's "Silver" TV cable package, and a DVD/VHS player with and an eclectic library of books, VCR tapes, and DVDs -- several featuring Hawaiian history and/or culture. Beach toys, snorkeling gear, beach umbrellas, towels, and chairs are available to my guests.

I now live about two miles from the condo and can personally perform regular deep cleaning and maintenance on a more regular basis. I am also available to handle any problem right away. I want my guests to have the best vacation experience possible.

THE KIHEI AKAHI COMPLEX boasts lovely tropical grounds with Plumeria trees, Hibiscus and other mature, lush Hawaiian plants. A botanical garden walk is on the grounds with maps available at the front desk.

THE BEACH. Across the street is sandy Kamaole II Beach Park with showers and restrooms. During the day until 5:00 PM, the beach park has lifeguards. At Kam II, as it is called, you will be able to catch the rays of the sun (wear sunscreen!) or swim and snorkel -- and be likely to see a green sea turtle or two. In the evenings you will be able to sit on the west-facing beach or my personal lanai and view the sunsets while having a glass of wine or dinner.

HANDCAPPED ACCESSIBLE: My condo can be accessed via wheelchair. However, it is not true ADA compliant and, therefore, not set up for many of the needs of handicapped guests. Please discuss your needs with me before booking.

SERVICE ANIMALS. Although true ADA compliant assistance animals are welcome in the Kihei Akahi complex, PETS ARE NOT ALLOWED. To use an assistance animal requires prior approval from the owner at time of booking. Documentation will be required which may include a written verification by the guests attending healthcare provider that the guest has a disability as described in the ADA and FHA and requires the services of the dog/animal. The use of internet certification services of service/assistance animals, is not, according to a 2020 bulletin by the US Department of Justice, sufficient to establish the need for an assistance animal. The condo is furnished and carpeted. To return the condo to an allergen-free state so that it is safe to be used by renters with allergies and the owner will be the responsibility of the renter. This will require additional fees to shampoo all carpets and furniture, wash walls, and clean drapes. It will also require that the renter pay for an additional night as these activities cannot be fully completed within one day.

SMOKE FREE CONDO. Smoking is not allowed in my condo or on the lanai. Kihei Akahi has a policy of no smoking in the walkways, the lanais, or within 50 feet of any buildings. Attractive outdoor smoking areas are provided by the complex.

COPY OF A GOVERNMENT-ISSUED PHOTO ID AND A PERSONALIZED AND SIGNED RENTAL AGREEMENT ARE REQUIRED BEFORE RESERVATION IS FINALIZED. The rental agreement on VRBO will be modified by owner to reflect the specifics of the reservation. .

This is a sweet little condo in Kihei right across from Kam 2 beach. It was lovely walking a short distance down the driveway to watch the sunset every night. We cooked a ton and the stocked kitchen was great. Only downside is that AC is on a 4 hour timer and the bedroom was hot. The ac only cools the main room which made for a couple uncomfortable nights of sleep. Otherwise we were happy.

This condo is in such a great location . You can walk from the property across the street and be at the beach. I would recommend this rental in a heartbeat. It was clean, well stocked, and convenient to so many things in Kihei.

It doesn’t get any better! Cozy, charming, quiet, well appointed condo walking distance to the best snorkeling beach in Maui. Beautiful, clean pool steps from your lanai. Everything you need from kitchen items to coolers to masks to beach chairs. We came for a week, wished we had booked for a month.

We travelled with our two children all around Maui over the 9 nights that we rented Annette’s condo. By far we loved the Kihei area the most. Our favourite beach is a three minute walk from this condo and the property is really well maintained and beautiful with lush gardens and two quiet pool areas (with wifi). Annette provided super detailed instruction and many helpful tips about the area. Having Annette’s beach chairs, flippers, coolers, and boogies boards was such an added bonus! We spent the majority of our time out doors everyday, but the condo provided exactly what we needed for sleeping arrangements and preparing food. The condo was clean and an efficient use of space. We would recommend staying here to any of our friends or family!

Our family of 4 stayed at Annette's condo and found it well stocked and convenient for our trip. Kids slept on the sofa bed and the living room was roomy enough to leave the bed out and still have room to walk around to the lanai. The condo is a 2 minute walk to Kamaole Beach 2, restaurants and shops, which made this a perfect location.

My 3 teenagers and I had a lovely time at the condo. We arrived super late but had full access to the property. Location was perfect to the beach and shops. We did rent a car so the reserved parking spot was appreciated. The bed was super comfortable and there was plenty of room for the 4 of us. I choose to sleep in the fold out cusion cot and it was perfectly comfortable as well. The shower pressure was awesome, that came in handy when rinsing from the beach. The beach equipment was so appreciated. We used the boogie boards, beach chairs and coolers. The kitchen was stocked with the basics. Annette was a fantastic host checking in with us to ensure our flights were on schedule and that we had a place to stay for additional nights if needed due to the fires. Annette’s home is really homey. It has everything that you need. Loaded kitchen and spices. Even tea pot. Location is great! Her building is the last one the back but Walking to beach is fun. Lots of trees and green grass. Walkable areas to restaurants. Chickens that always greet you in the morning. Washer dryer that makes my life easier. Thanks Annette for letting us stay in your beautiful house.

We really enjoyed our week-long stay in Annette’s condo. She was so helpful in providing lots of information about the condo as well as many tips for activities in the Kihei area. The condo itself was so comfortable providing for our every need. A great extra was the placing of the condo in Building D at the back of the property which made for a quiet experience. We loved this place and so appreciated Annette’s attentive hospitality. We’d definitely return!

Really enjoyed our stay in Kihei. Annette’s condo is a 2 minute walk to the beach which is great for swimming and sunset watching. Lots of nearby places to snorkel. The unit is updated, clean and well equipped. We really appreciated the A/C on those hot afternoons. Reasonably priced with lots of amenities and we will recommend to others.

This condo was perfect for us to spend our honeymoon in. Annette was amazing with providing information on everything we needed. The condo was fully stocked with everything you would need, we didn’t have to go to the store to buy anything except for food and drinks. The condo was fully equipped with coolers, snorkeling gear, chairs and anything you need for the ocean. Thank you again Annette for everything, we will definitely be returning back to your condo!

Condo is across the road from the beach so a short walk to the water. Has its own parking space which is great for those renting cars. In an older area but safe and plenty of shops, pubs, restaurants, grocery store etc within walking distance. The pool was close….just behind us…and quiet. The entire complex was quiet and friendly. The condo was dated but clean and well stocked with everything in working order. We were only here for a few days and so didn’t make use of the kitchen except for coffee in the morning as we ate out at the great eateries nearby. Would stay again if we’re in Maui. Mahalo Annette! This property is conveniently located near beaches, restaurants and an easy trek to other locations on island. Everything you could need is provided and in good condition. Only issue was phone service in the bedroom, however it’s fine in the rest of the condo areas. Overall great place to stay and a good value.

We had a fantastic stay at Annette's sweet condo. Loved drinking coffee on the patio in the quiet, early mornings listening to the tropical birds(and chickens, of course!), and watching sunsets in the evening. Easy walk to the beach down a nice driveway. The grounds are a beautiful botanical garden. We'll be back!
