There is also a table area inside pool (plastic glasses only please!!) Large lawn provides additional sunning and recreation area.

Upon your arrival on island, should you need someone to meet you at the airport and show you back to the villa, please let us know.

We had an amazing time. House is out of the way on a quiet road near the ocean with a gorgeous view. This house was perfect for our family vacation. We spent a lot of time at the house and it met all of our expectations and then some.

My husband and I took our son and three friends to celebrate his high school graduation. This house has THE best views! Daphne was easy to communicate with and very quick responding. Pierre lives just up the street and he was so helpful with things to do and where to go. The AC in one bedroom didn’t work the day we got there and by the next day it was replaced. Catherine is the sweetest and we paid Omar (pool and lawn guy) to drive our group downtown one evening. We had a nice steak dinner and hit the casino and Moon Bar. He stayed out late and brought us back safely. You definitely need to rent a car as most reviews say, the hills are no joke! We waited until we got there to unload luggage and then we headed to a grocery store. We never cooked meals, but the kitchen has everything you will need if you choose to. If you’re planning to go to a beach for the day I recommend Orient Beach. Daphne told us about it and she was right. It has all the activities, restaurants, shops, etc and it’s not a far drive. There are outdoor showers there as well. Ladies or men with long hair, I wouldn’t worry about dolling up too much because of the wind and humidity. Bring lightweight clothes! You will not need your fancy outfits except for maybe one evening out on the town. All bedrooms have AC but the main living area does not. We kept the windows/doors open so it’s a constant warm breeze. The pool and hottub are wonderful, especially at night. We will be back!

We stayed at Villa Valhalla with our 3 teenage kids and another family of 4. The house was beautiful, clean, well stocked with stunning views! Plenty of room for us all. It’s located in a safe and quiet neighborhood overlooking Dawn Beach. Everything was as stated from the website, except the kitchen has been updated and looks great. We had excellent communication before and during the trip. We were able to walk to the beach, and had dinner at the new JW Marriott. It was nice to have a close option on a night we didn’t want to drive or cook. We have nothing but great things to say about everyone who helps care for the home, all so pleasant to talk to. They were very accommodating to us. We have stayed on the island before and did feel this was a nice location, split between the French and Dutch side so other than the airport, most restaurants and beaches we wanted to visit were no more than 20 minutes from us by car. We personally love renting a car to see the whole island on our vacations. We also love a nice, quiet spot to come back to each evening and thoroughly enjoyed our time at the house, using the pool and hot tub all week. You won’t be disappointed with this house, would definitely recommend!

This is a great villa. Everything about it was superb. It has spectacular view. The rooms are comfortable and well appointed. Great pool. Communication with the owner was easy and she was very accommodating of our needs.
Would book again.

This estate is everything as described and even more than you can imagine. Pulling into Dawn Beach Estates and driving down to view the ocean is breathtaking. The views from every back window of the house are like a dream. We loved the entire house. Every guest was happy with their room and amenities. We used the pool and hot tub every day. The kitchen supplied us with anything we could have needed. Our quick trip over the back road to the bakery was exciting. The house is located central to everything on the island. Dawn Beach is beautiful and quiet and the walk is easy enough for the entire family. My only regret is that we didn’t stay longer. 7 days isn’t enough! Highly recommend this house for anyone looking to relax and explore St Martin!

The view is amazing, so beautiful, 180 degrees of beauty St Barts and Dawn beach area. Dawn beach is beautiful and easy to get to. Quick walk down and over the stairs. The roads are no joke and very steep and narrow. But you will run into that for any house with a view like this. We would've preferred a rental car with ground clearance. There are restaurants nearby but definitely driving distance except the bar/resaurant at the beach. The owner had blow dryers, books, games, floaties for the pool, great internet, a well stocked kitchen, and beach towels. The housekeeper refreshed the beach towels twice during the stay, such a luxury. All things that make a great beach house. We really appreciated the services of the housekeeper and pool professional, and Pierre the house manager. They check to make sure you know how to work everything and keep it in good order. Daphne the owner stopped by to check in on us too. So nice! The pool is really great we used it to cool off. We were there New Year's and it was 75 degrees. People that enjoy firm beds will be very happy. I would go again tomorrow if I could, it's so great.

Our family needed a location for rest and relaxation, with the ability to walk to the beach an easy access to the rest of the island for exploration. Villa Valhalla exceeded these expectations is all ways, with the sole exception of there not being a supermarket within walking distance - or a 5 minute drive. But nevertheless, all had a gratifying and relaxing week.

The property is beautiful, views are stunning. Local restaurants are ample and wonderful. Bedrooms are cool and comfortable. The villa is stocked with many amenities. We did not take advantage of the staff for cooking or recommendations, but I feel they would have been helpful with both. The pool is deep
and refreshing, however in December it is only half in the sun, perhaps other months are different. We rented a car, which has nothing to do with the house, but must mention-the roads are narrow and steep, factor this into your vechicle selection. Do not drive up or down the steep hills if they are wet.
We loved our trip, as well as our stay, and hope to be back!!!

Valhalla is absolutely stunning! The views are incredible!
We couldn’t ask for a more perfect experience from start to finish. Daphne was wonderful to work with and answered all our questions throughout the reservation process. Catherine is such a lovely person. She was always concerned that we had everything we needed. We had some great conversation with her. She is a gem! The home was exceptionally clean and well maintained. We cooked several evenings and the kitchen was well stocked with any utensils/dishware/cooking items necessary. There was even a very nice array of seasonings and spices available. We enjoyed the walking proximity to Dawn Beach ( about a 5-8 minute walk). You are on a hillside so the walk back gives a nice little workout! It’s a great location and easy to get to both sides of the Island. The pool, hot tub and beautiful deck made it difficult to want to leave the property! This was a great vacation for our family and we would highly recommend Valhalla to anyone looking for a private, comfortable, vacation getaway.

We did our best to get out and explore, but spent a-lot of quality time at the Villa as well. My Dad (turning 70 this year) and my 2 year old daughter enjoyed the pool at least once each day. We went to bread and butter for fresh croissants and pastries almost every morning as well, and my mother couldn’t get over how delicious the fresh baked goods were.
This is listed in the house description, but we had a pretty scary experience driving down the steep hill during a short rain downpour so please heed that warning and take an alternate path or stop for a cup of coffee while the road dries! Check the tread on the rental car tires as well.
The host responded very quickly to every question that we had. We were disappointed that the in home
cooking experience wasn’t available anytime during our stay, but there is no shortage of great food across the island.
We definitely recommend staying at Villa Valhalla if you are looking for a quiet and luxurious way to spend time with friends and family.

Overall a good family friendly villa. Daphne did a great job communiting up front. Catherine and Pierre were very hospitable. Catherine arrived just as we did to give us a tour. All the food we preordered was stocked in the fridge and pantry. Caution - the grocery that delivers is very expensive. We found a store a few miles away that was a fraction of the price. If you are on a budget or just want to save a few bucks, go shopping when you get to the island. It will save you quite a bit of money.
The views were spectacular from the back patio. The walk to the beach was a bit longer than expected but not too much of an issue.
Overall no complaints with the property, the owner or the staff. One suggestion - talk with Catherine about the pool guys schedule. He would just appear in the morning and startle us a bit. Nice guy! But just didnt know when he was coming.
We appreciate Daphne opening her home to us. I highly recommend this property. Its clean, well maintained, grear views and good location!

It's hard to know where to begin - we are female friends who travel each summer (without spouses) to different destinations (this is our year 13). This villa was amazing! It offered private sleeping spaces for the 4 of us - with the most amazing pool, deck, kitchen, courtyard, views...I could go on. First of all, we booked almost a year in advance and all my questions were answered immediately. Just before our arrival we had the best directions and contacts to get us to the villa. Catherine met us on our arrival. She was wonderful and helpful in orienting us to the area.
Pros: The villa is beautiful, beautiful views, well equipped, clean, located fairly close to both sides of the island, private....I just can't say enough! People on the island are lovely.
Catherine is a wealth of knowledge. We were early risers and out before Pierre came in - sorry we couln't meet him, but we enjoyed Catherine's stories of the island. We wished we had spent more time at the villa when they were there.
We walked to Dawn Beach (resort) a few nights for drinks and dinner. The bar people are great! So accomodating - food is good and you don't need to drive.
Cons:
The only villa con is it is a little weird to lock yourself into a bedroom each night. Totally worth the set up of the villa, however!
Driving got old for me (but I'm 66). It's very hilly and a lot of traffic.

This home is amazing… beautiful view of Dawn Beach and Oyster Cove. It fit our family of 5 perfectly, plenty of room for everyone. The beds are a little firm but that didn’t bother us, we slept very well. We swam in the pool everyday, and in the evenings we enjoyed the hot tub while listening to the sound of the waves. Pierre and Catherine are lovely people, we enjoyed talking to them during our stay. Pierre made several recommendations, all were outstanding. We weren’t quite ready to leave; we easily could have stayed another week. There is so much to do on the island. Overall, we were very happy with this home, and will definitely be back soon.

My husband and family of three boys ranging from 13-20 years old throughly enjoyed our week long stay at this amazing home! The house is incredible, open concept living/kitchen area to prepare meals and have all together with patios slider doors all around to take in 360 views! In the morning enjoyed opening master doors and sipping morning coffee looking out at pool/ocean view, relaxing pool side on patio, laying out, hot tubbing, & short 6 min walk to beach! Enjoyed playing family games at long dinning table. Was pleasantly supposed that the kitchen had been beautifully updated from darker wood cabinets in photos.
We had done a few excursions and was able to schedule pick up from The Westin. We did rent a car to be able to get around the area. Love both sides Dutch & French. Definitely recommend atv 4 Wheeler tour to see island and where you might like to go through your stay. Snorkeling on catamaran was wonderful as well. Took walks on beach, enjoyed tropical cocktail from The Westin Beach Bar. 5 min drive to French Bakery, & breakfast at Infinity Restaurant across the way. Had couple dinners out in Simpson Bay and Grand Case. Catherine was amazing, gave us the run down of island, where to get groceries, great delivery pizza recommendation, made sure had what needed. Only one small thing was all the number of keys required to open and unlock doors. Little inconvenience, but easy to upgrade . One of the most positive things was staffs attention to cleanliness, including routine cleanings of house, and testing & cleaning of hot tub, and pool. Very impressive for a house rental. Would stay here again! On last day we finally got to see the monkeys! Bout 6 Pm along the walls once inside Dawn Beach

If your look for a quiet place away from the crowds to unwind and relax this is the place. It has everything you need and the views are breathtaking. Easy drive around the island to all the local beaches.

This villa was even better than expected! The views were so spectacular we would wake up early just to watch the sunrise.
Catherine was wonderful and so helpful.
We are definitely planning to return.

This villa was beautiful everything about this villa beat my expectations. The villa was even better than pictures . My family of 7 stayed here 11 days and we felt like we was at home the whole trip. Loved waking up every morning to the views of the ocean. Mrs. Daphne answered all my questions and was very helpful. Mrs. Catherine was wonderful. Great villa!

We loved this beautiful house with so much of it open to the outdoors and lounging outside for breakfast and enjoying the pool and hot tub. Magnificent views, gated neighborhood of large houses. Very safe and private. We were there the week before Christmas, and the weather was lovely (around 77 low 82 high) each day, it was a little cool for the pool with the ocean breeze and afternoon shade, but we still used it every day. It is a little drive to most things you want to visit on the island (steep roads over the mountains and one privately owned, unpaved road to Oyster Bay that is very bumpy!). Pierre the house manager was great - quickly fixed any little things that came up and very friendly. Catherine met us when we arrived, and usually would clean the house in the morning around 9:30, so you may want to coordinate with her about which days you expect to be out of the house by that time or if you only want her to come once vs. twice during a week stay. Communication was great with her as well, really we had just a wonderful time!
Our favorite outings were Ilet Pinel (no vendors trying to sell you things on the beach) and the all-day catamaran with snorkeling (booked through Viator). We loved lunch at the little place attached to the Columbus Hotel (La P'tite Pause) on Oyster Pond, and a more upscale dinner at Ocean 82 in Grand Case, Mama Pizza was also a more casual open air option we enjoyed nearby. Bring lots of cash! U.S. dollars accepted everywhere, credit cards only for some things (you have to look for ATMs, mostly at banks), and you can pay the same in cash dollars as the listed price in Euros. Most mornings we had baguettes and cheese/meats from Bread and Butter or Super U. There is also a market on Bishop Hill Rd. we would use for basics. We walked to Dawn Beach a few times but did not spend beach time there (went to Mullet Bay, Pinel Island, and Orient Beach), and had fun at Parrote Ville (if you like birds--in the mornings they are especially eager for the food you have). Definitely recommend staying here!

Absolutely loved the villa and view nothing better than opening up the walls every morning watching the ocean and feeling the breeze 10 out of 10

We loved staying on this property! The views are absolutely gorgeous. We were highly impressed that the kitchen had been updated from the pictures listed and was great for entertaining our large family. The back patio and pool were our favorite place to start and end the day, the breeze and view of the ocean were so relaxing.
The beach you can walk to from the house was a nice beach with a little bar you can sit at. You could just hang at this beach for the week or if you like to explore, I recommend renting a car like we did and check out a different beach each day.

The place was fresh and spotless. Amazing view from the balcony. Refreshing constant breeze. The jacuzzi has incredibly strong jets that work the lower back muscles intensely and pleasantly. Lol. Spent the whole time while we were there on the balcony enjoying the view and the breeze. A nice place with a very reasonable price. Make sure you rent a car that has some kahunas. Some steep hills to climb.

From the moment we drove through the beautiful gate, we were greeted by Catherine and our perfect experience at this fabulous villa began! The spectacular ocean view, well-appointed kitchen and living spaces, and special care given to us by Catherine and Pierre made this one of the best vacations of a lifetime! We will definitely be back!

Villa Valhalla made our first trip to St Maarten the absolute best experience! From the moment Catherine met us to check in ( and we were late while she patiently waited ) we felt at home. A tour of the house , a giant smile and a reference for a driver, “Nate the great” , to find us dinner as we arrived later in the day. We rented a car for day excursions but always felt more comfortable with Nate at night. Dawn Beach Club was amazing. Wonderful , sweet and hard working employees! The walk to the beach was easy! If you have elders - then you can drive. Homere the Gardner kept the pool sparking clean and I never found his vists intrusive. The VIEW!!!!! Nothing can compete. Amazing. I am already missing my morning coffee with the sound and view of the waves. We woke up for some sunrises followed by my husbands visit to the French bakery. My daughters loved the chocolate croissants - as did I! You are right on
The boarder so very accessible. The food was some of the best I have had and we live outside NYC and travel. Villa Valhalla was a gem. We are grateful to Daphne for sharing her home and Catherine, Nate and Homere for making such a beautiful home to share and feel comfortable in!!

I could not have asked for a better place to stay in St. Maarten! The house was perfectly sized for our group (7 Adults), and we did not feel like we were on top of each other. The housekeeper, Catherine, is extremely friendly and helpful. She always made sure we knew when to expect her or the property manager around the house.
My group did not only celebrate my birthday while there, but we always celebrated our friends getting engaged at the house. With the beautiful views of the deck and the lights from the town across the water. It was a picture-perfect moment.

Absolutely AMAZING!!!
This VRBO was everything!!! Exactly how it was pictured on the site. We absolutely loved everything about this home and will be booking again upon our next visit to St. Maarten. The island itself is nothing short of AMAZING. I can’t wait to go back!!!

Overall pleased with the house which is accurately represented in the listing. It was clean upon arrival with plenty of towels provided, as well as a little gift basket. I was pleasantly surprised by how well appointed the kitchen was, it made it so easy to cook when we didn’t want to go out. A propane grill was also available (be smarter than us and make sure you have gas before you start cooking though!!). Overall we loved the layout of the house and the lovely breeze when all the bay windows are open. I will say that the mattress in bedroom 2 was not comfortable so if that’s important for you, maybe try a different bedroom. The property manager Pierre was absolutely lovely and came to our rescue as we were struggling to turn on the A/C unit in one of the bedrooms and found an exploded glass bottle in the freezer. He gave us some great recommendations for restaurants and activities. The view from the deck is stunning and the beach is a short walk away, although we were spoiled by some of the other beaches on the island and found it a bit rocky - but objectively it is a nice beach and it even has a beach bar. The pool is great and we really enjoyed it to cool off during the day and also at night with the nice outdoor lighting. As mentioned by others, the pool maintenance person (Omer?) walks in unannounced, which wasn’t really an issue for us. If you want to know his schedule, I recommend asking Pierre as Catherine gave me the wrong days when we checked in, but Pierre had the right information. Last thing (and only disappointment of an otherwise lovely stay), the hot tub is a hot mess, we had one good day and the rest of the time it was very cloudy and foamy, and as I found out too late, had chunks of chlorine floating around which bleached swimsuits and even gave me a painful rash/burn after a longer soak. Besides the hot tub, I would 100% recommend this property. Beautiful, clean, private, and with everything you need.

Great stay and great views.
Everything was good as expected. Pierre, the house manager was very helpful. Only 2 suggestions: 1. Getting in and out of the pool was terrible. Doesn't have steps. You have to jump in and figure your way to get out. Not good for small children or elderly people. 2. Cleaning lady was very nice but we expected more privacy. Too many people around while she was there. An AC guy came in the house asking for her and came in the house without asking. All ACs were working fine so we where a bit surprised. Cleaning service should be optional.

This was our first trip to Saint Maarten and with so many options all across the island trying to pick a place became overwhelming. We finally decided on villa Valhalla. The property was beautiful and had IMO the most amazing view on the island the pool hottub deck all amazing. One could spend a week here and never leave the villa. The pictures certainly do not do the property justice. When booking I expressed to Daphne this was my fiancé and I first trip to the island and we were seeking something private. The villa while having neighbors was build with privacy in mind and short of seeking out your neighbors you wouldn’t notice them but here’s the catch after some miscommunication about our check in time the house keeper Catherine hid the villa keys for us for our arrival the Villa was listed as 4 bedroom 4 bathroom however each bedroom is only accessible via individual key. We initially had one key meaning only access to one bedroom. Not the biggest issue as we only needed one bedroom however we did expect full access to the property. After enjoying a nice evening at the property we were up somewhat early to explore the island as we were leaving we noticed the pool guys show up and start their duties and then Catherine showed up moments later to give us our formal walk through and we then were given a second set of keys that allowed us access to a second bedroom and bath. We returned to the villa later in the evening and finished off our day with a night swim and a quick soak in the hot tub. Morning number two as we were eating our breakfast in the wonderful kitchen we see another unannounced maintenance person accessing the deck/water hose to carry out their responsibilities. I must note each and every person working for the villa we encountered were polite. After breakfast we ventured out to explore another part of the island. After a night out we chose to sleep in a bit. The next morning my fiancé and I woke a little after 8 she decided it would be nice to open the patio doors in the bedroom and listen/watch the sea a bit while relaxing imagine our shock when my nude fiancé opened the door to see yet another maintenance person on the deck. You can see a pattern here there were unannounced workers at the property each day and some days multiple times. It may not bother some but it was difficult to enjoy each others company with so many workers coming and going.

We stayed at Valhalla with our best friends and it was truly a wonderful experience! we cooked a lot while we were there and enjoyed the sunsets and sun rises as we ate our meal. The kitchen is fully stocked and has everything you need to cook meals. The pool and hot tub were amazing! Catherine and her team were very responsive to our needs and questions we had. The beach is a short walk, you can take your own chairs and order from the bar at the resort. We are already planning our next stay here!!! What a perfect vacation!! Thanks Daphne and Catherine for everything.

Valhalla Paradise
The house was a situated with a beautiful ocean view. The amenities at the home are more than adequate to allow for cooking in the villa when not wanting to spend money on going out to eat. The pool and hot tub were used daily after returning from exploring the island which has many beautiful beaches and the best island shopping. I would highly recommend this villa.

Valhalla has a spectacularly beautiful setting and walking in the house to the views is literally jaw dropping. The house is set up to maximize those views and we loved the open floor plan and the thoughtful set up
of the outdoor space to ensure those views are part of your pool, jacuzzi, shade, sun and dining spaces. The house is lovely and well-appointed with everything you need in the kitchen, vaulted ceilings, and cool local artwork throughout. Daphne was a wonderful host and her rum punch recipe will ensure that you put the blue tooth sound system to good use for a deck dance party under the moon and stars. Catherine made us a fabulous dinner one night and was a total gem in making sure we were well tended. We took a boat trip for a day (fun but beware- quite windy) and one of the places we saw was the most exclusive hotel on the island. We all agreed the $3-5k per night hotel was gorgeous to be sure but that it did not hold a candle to our accommodations, view and the beautiful beach we could walk to from the house (the bar on the beach makes a killer pina colada!). We’re all already planning our next trip to Valhalla paradise!!

An Island Paradise
The properity is exactly as advertised and as wonderful as previously reviewed. It was the perfect house for a perfect spring break for some winter weary Minnesotans. The pool, is beautiful and the hot tub is wonderful to overlook the bay at night.
We visited Bread and Butter every day, can't recommend enough. Also loved Mama's Pizza and BZH Creperie and Pineapple Pete and Toppers. Also visited many grocery stories, so easy to get what we needed (carre forte is great but huge and a bit of a drive, the local ones are fine for snacks and such). Really enjoyed the Marigot market too. St Martin/Sint Maarten locals are some of the nicest people I have ever met. They stop in the road to flash their lights and let you go, kind and quick with smiles and help. If you go to Friar's beach, bring cash, no credit cards accepted.
The beaches were all fairly easy to reach and amazing.
One note, google maps gets confused going to the house but I think Catharine is working on getting the street signs fixed. Also, don't leave the bedroom doors open after dark, there are sneaky/nasty mosquitos who will eat you alive at night.

Stunning ocean views, beautifully appointed, lovely location!
Valhalla was just wonderful. Beautiful property, very well looked after and a gorgeous setting. You could just sit there for your entire trip and watch the ocean below! Quiet neighborhood, short walk down to Dawn Beach. Or a short drive (20 to 30 mins) to all the lovely beaches on the island - up the eastern side (eg Orient) or north (eg Anse Marcel) or the west! Likewise for restaurants - lots of wonderful options locally (Oyster Pond, Orient Bay) or further afield. Renting, checking in and out were all a breeze. Highly recommend!
