We absolutely loved our stay at this beautiful old home and wish we could have stayed longer! The house was cozy and comfortable - it felt lived in, like you were staying in a friend's home. We spent many hours on the back deck reading, roasting hot dogs in the fire pit, and watching the tide come in and out and the light change. I can certainly see how it would be an inspiring retreat for an artist! It's quiet and far from neighbors, but still close enough to Deer Isle to get a morning coffee or take a yoga class, and an easy drive to other nearby attractions and places to eat. Highly recommend the Lookout Rock trailhead for a short hike to a fantastic view, and Crazy Ottos for a delicious lunch after!

The Artist Retreat/ Myrick House was MORE THAN WE COULD'VE ASKED OR IMAGINED.
The photos online don't do justice at all to the beauty, peace, tranquility, privacy, inspiration, charm, serenity of the spacious home (filled with stunning paintings and art and antiques!), the perfection of the scenic landscape (every day looking out on the beautiful water and seeing boats, seagulls, the clouds and fog hovering over islands), private gardens, flowers blooming in the sunny, crisp June air...the low tide delight and discovery of our kids scampering over rocks to find snails, shells, seaglass and other treasures in tide pools...it was sheer and utter perfection. The house had EVERYTHING we could possibly need for our almost 2 week stay.
We took stroller walks with our children right on Dow Rd.--quiet and scenic. The 44 North Coffee Shop (wonderful pour over coffee and Tinder Hearth Bread from Brooksville) and other gift shops and restaurants are so close by in Deer Isle. This town and Stonington are full of community and locals who care deeply about sustainability and quality produce/products from the land--oysters! Lobsters! Flower bouquets! Bread! Farmfresh eggs!
It was a 25 min drive to other towns like Blue Hill or Brooklin that also have charming gift shops, coffee, scenic views of harbors, and incredible co-ops and grocery stores. It took us 1 hr 15 min to drive to Acadia National Park for the day.
Nichole was very responsive and friendly! We're forever grateful!

My family and I had the most amazing stay. The location, right on the water was paradise. The home was beautiful, stunningly decorated, and very comfortable. The home is a former artist's retreat and paintings were displayed throughout the house. We were able to rent kayaks from our hosts and being able to launch from the backyard was a highlight of our trip. This is the place to stay when in Deer Isle.

We have been coming to Deer Isle for 35 years now, so we are very familiar with the location and the available rental market. This property was beautiful, well-maintained, well-equipped, and very stylish. We loved the art, the view and the gorgeous gardens.

Our 3 generation family loved this special place! The view of the water from the decks was amazing and the grounds were enchanting—flowers everywhere and numerous outdoor spaces for the kids and adults to wander through. It is a very quiet and peaceful spot. We loved swimming at high tide and also enjoyed kayaking each day right from the property. The house was very comfortable and well equipped, and what a treat to be surrounded by fine original art. It felt like a family home. The kids enjoyed discovering games tucked away in the den. We will definitely be back!

Nice view.
Wife thought it was magnificent.
Maybe the downstairs toilet could use a sign "Toilet". Looks like a closet.

Picturesque home
This home was in such a beautiful setting. It looks like an artist studio and was left to look as it did when the artist lived there. Location is about an hour 15 minutes from Acadia. But location is worth the drive! If I come back to the area, I would definitely stay here again. My kids loved it too!

Fabulous
This home is gorgeous. Everything you could possibly want for a vacation on the water in Maine. Clean, comfy, open and peaceful. Stocked with all the little things you forget, like olive oil. The beauty of the grounds will have your heart. Waking to the loons and sounds of the water was glorious. This is the place. I will forever be grateful for the time with my family in this beautiful home. Memories made. Hopefully we will repeat this adventure next year. Fabulous property.
