About us:
I found this place 20 years ago! There were a bunch of horses and chickens roaming around. I shook hands with the owner and made a deal, I was 27 years old. I have not missed a year coming down here in those 20 years.
First thing I did was plant 50 fruit trees and a bunch of bamboo on the property.
This place energizes me and my family. I hope it helps you reset as it does for me! Cheers!

Thanks Kevin, and everyone involved to make our stay great! Location is amazing, surf one of the best spots right out the front door. Rocamar next door was a great perk. Location is just outside the crowded streets but close enough to jump in for supplies and great food! The Villa is set back far enough for privacy. Communication with everyone was fast and easy! Thanks!!

Piece of paradise
My husband and I stayed here for about 8 days as part of our honeymoon and just fell in love with Santa Teresa and this slice of it in particular. The beach is private and beautiful and still has easy access to town. The huts overlooking the beach in the shade of the trees were perfect for relaxing. We stayed in early July and had some rain but the covered veranda / patio was idyllic for reading and watching the rain. We didn’t end up using the kitchen too much because the restaurants were all amazing, but when we did it had everything we needed. Everyone at this property was amazing. Katty was wonderful. Thanks everyone for a tremendous stay.

Great bungalows and a great location!
We had a wonderful time at this property. We wish we could of stayed longer. It is an ideal spot if you love to surf and right on the beach next to Rocomar Beach club and cafe social. Our teenage sons took one bungalow and my husband and I took the other. It was perfect. I would defiantly stay again. Pura Vida!

Awesomeness
Words can not truly describe our time at Villa Norte. We found such peace, and gratitude. The purest of Pura Vida.
Villa Norte offered everything we needed and the open outdoor area/ kitchen was well stocked and made cooking easy.
Rocomar and cafe social were very close and offered simple yummy meals.
Auti, our dog, enjoyed his early morning and sunset beach walks, and hanging out on the covered patio. Dog paradise!
Katty, Roger, Carole, Quique, and Kevin form a great team and were available to help with any questions. We had very few:)
With much thankfulness, Khristy, Tom, and Auti

Amazing location, property and communication with owner
This is the second time we have have stayed at this property & seventh time going to Santa Teresa. Both times were exactly as the owner advertised and the property was amazing. We had a small issue with the noise of construction next store for three days, but the owner bent over backwards to offer to relocate us if the noise continued. After having loud grinding for only the first three days, the rest of the stay was amazing and Kevin was very understanding and accommodating. We are very happy we ended up staying and the place helped make our trip. Thanks Kevin. We will be back.

Tranquil and Delightful
At the edge of town sits this lovely, low key property of bungalows. It feels remote-yet a quick drive or jog and you are in the center of town. I wanted peace and quiet, I got it. The bungalow was exactly what I wanted and the mattress was superb. Taking a nap in the hammock, the most wonderful animals came out, birds, lizards and butterflies filled the air.

Dream Property
The property is UNREAL!!! Two and a half acres of Pacific ocean front property!! We have been to Santa Theresa before and stayed in a hotel, but decided this time to have a more private stay, and we are so glad we did!! Very cozy house with a king size ( comfortable firm mattress ). The out door bathroom was honestly my favorite feature! (I wish I could reproduce that here in Florida...) The outdoor kitchen is fantastic, has pretty much everything you need ( I would bring another ice tray) , there is a filtered water spout which made hauling water to the house unnecessary. The property is so large that we never heard our neighbors. We met Adriana the property manager the next day, she appears quite accomplished ( speaks 3 languages fluently), we did not use her much, since we knew our way around. Walking down to the beach to the immediate left is a great day time restaurant Rocamar with fantastic food ((closes 6 pm). We had a car, but would rent a quad ( ATV) next time to get around. There are several restaurants within walking distance from the property. A fantastic cafe - Cafe Social is on top of the hill from the house. A very pleasant cleaning lady comes daily to clean and replenish the towels. Costa Rica is one of my favorite countries, everyone is super nice and helpful, most of them speak fluent english. Bring flip flops, because this is all you will wear! The property is slightly away from the "strip" which is exactly what I wanted, also the beach is hands down the best strip of beach in entire Santa Teresa! There are some rock formations on the beach that form " pools " of water that you can sit in at low tide. Another hint is that the restaurants run by Costa Ricans are often better than the others (Soda Tiquicia is a favorite). There are plenty of grocery markets, that have pretty much everything including fantastic fresh fruits!!
Last tip: finding the property at night was not easy... So if Cafe Social is to your left ( going away from town towards Playa Hermose / North) there is a road -don"t take it, then the Billabong property ( has a dark blue tile roof which is not visible due to dust) and immediately after Billabong is a small hidden driveway to the left that goes downhill sharply - you found it....

A perfect hidden getaway right on the beach!
We so enjoyed our stay in this bungalow on the beach in Santa Teresa! The outdoor washroom with the howler monkeys, hummingbirds and butterflies in the trees above the shower made for some great entertainment while still being very private. The bed was very comfortable and staff were extremely helpful and friendly accommodating our every need and questions. The world class surfing is right outside your door with many amazing restaurants serving typical and quality gourmet meals up and down the Main Street. An ATV is what we enjoyed getting around in but a car would work well too. You can be as busy or as relaxed as you like. We loved deciding where to take a yoga class (with so many options), touring the Cabo Blanco and Curu Natural Reserves, the waterfalls in Montezuma and heading out fishing in the morning catching our dinner to cook in the well equipped outdoor kitchen on site. The sunsets are breathtaking. We would highly recommend you don’t miss out on the experience of this incredible beach town.

Clean, well maintained and in perfect location!
Absolutely loved this place! Clean, friendly staff and beautiful grounds! Expecially loved the bathroom! I am nuts about birds and iguana's and I was able to observe both here daily. The grounds and the natural feel of the environment there is very unique to the place. I have stayed at many places in Santa Teresa and this is absolutely one of my favorites! I have been coming to ST since 1993 and saw two types of birds on this property that I have never seen before. It is right on the beach, but still back enough to make it cooler and to give room for wildlife. if you are a surfer this is one of the best spots to be. I will definitely be back!

A magical stay on the beach
I stayed at Los Almendros for a 5 week solo vacation and loved every minute of it. From the moment I booked my trip, Hanit and Adrianna who manage the house were ready answer any questions I had and help me coordinate any travel or activity. I stayed in both bungalows over my trip and each is beautiful. The house is designed with the surrounding environment in line -- the screen doors came in very handy, the design feels natural but refined, and the bathrooms are BEAUTIFUL. The grounds of the property are a total jungle and it was an incredibly relaxing place to hang out and sleep. Then, there is the beach right outside your door, which has amazing waves to surf. I was there in the off season and the beach was never crowded and very peaceful.
The house is close-ish to town. I had a car rental for my stay and I would definitely recommend a car or an ATV. It's a nice walk into town down the road or along the beach but can take about 30 minutes. There is a grocery store and a couple restaurants that are a bit closer. Los Almendros is on the north end of town and there is almost two miles of road south so transportation is helpful.
Overall, I couldn't have enough amazing things to say about Los Almendros and the general experience of staying at the house. Hanit and Adrianna are always there for you and the property is magical. It was the perfect vacation spot. Highly, highly recommend!

Absolute paradise in a clean and beautiful space!
We Stayed here for 13th anniversary last week, and believe me when I tell you is the most amazing location and space! Adriana the caretaker was present and helpful, but she also respected our privacy. The beach is less than 100 yards from where you stay, just follow a short path filled with trees and hammocks you can use. The bed is comfortable and romantic, and there are many shops and restaurants a short walk down the beach or main road. Loved the iguanas I’m the property, as well as the full kitchen. We will be back soon!

Beautiful private cottages on the beach at the end of Santa Teresa
We just spent 5 days at Los Almendros. And it was exactly as promised. Beautiful, beach front, romantic. It is a little slice of heaven tucked between ultra high end villas, and mid range surf cottages. The cottage itself is basically perfect. Outdoor shower up front to wash up after surfing, and a secluded outdoor shower out back, with a tree growing in the shower!! Nothing better than showering under the stars. The room is fully air conditioned as well, which allows you to get a good nights sleep. It's about a 100m walk to the beach, but it's all part of the property and you can see the beach the whole way. You can take some of the lounge chairs from the kitchen down to sit on, if you don't have your own. We did that every day. As for the kitchen, it is shared with the other cottage, but it's quite big and has two fridges. More than enough space to accommodate 5 or 6 people. Beautiful kitchen table with a fan over top. There is also a blender...for making smoothies. That came in handy.
The only tricky part is finding the place, as there is no signage out front. But you will find it and the property managers are very attentive in helping out. Make sure you get setup on Whatsapp with them before going. It's best if you have some for of transportation in Santa Teresa, as the closest grocery story is about 1.5km away. Walkable yes...but not a good use of vacation time.
All in all, a truly great location and well worth the money. We were really happy we stayed here.

wonderful location just as described
everything about this place was amazing my friend and i stayed a week . it is a short 10 minute walk to the grocery store and a few restraunts it is on the north end of the strip so it was so quite and peaceful at night still only less than 10 minute drive to the heart of town or a beautiful 45 minute walk on the beach. the beach is right outside your door but yet very private glori and hanit were to wonderful to us thank you both so much

A very quiet and private and beautiful place.
My friend Laura and I had a most delightful nearly 3 week stay here.
On the northern end of the town of Santa Teresa - which was perfect for the seclusion and peace it brought.
Staff was amazing in their helpfulness - especially Glori.
Sweet traditional bungalow with lush plantings providing privacy and lots of nearby bird songs. Great large outdoor yet private shower. Very short walk across property to ideal beach - much quieter than the area nearer town. Two hammocks near same, in shade often, for lounging.
Approx. 15 minute walk along beach and then up to main road to large grocery. Longer walk to busier part of town - where we very rarely went. We largely stayed put and relaxed in the sublime setting.
Simple shared kitchen that is open air and also has large handsome dining table adjacent on which we had a couple larger meals/dinners with the friends we made in the area - perfect!
Very good restaurants nearby - especially Cafe Sociale - which is just off this property to the south and a favorite of locals and could not be beat for breakfast or lunch. Osa is a fine spot for dinner - 10 minute walk south if that.
We always slept with the doors wide open and the ceiling fan on and had no use for AC - although we gathered that is in the offing soon soon for 'our' bungalow and has already been put in place of the other unit here.
Surf in nearly constant along this entire shore (amazing sound) so one should use caution regarding currents and rip tides. We swam every day though - paying attention to conditions and not venturing far from shore or near rocks to the north.
We rented a 4-wheeler for one day - thanks to Glori - and explored - but otherwise had no interest in leaving such a wonderful vacation spot.
We thank the owners and the caretakers and the cleaning staff for providing such a great get away for us both!!

A little piece of Heaven on Earth
My husband and I stayed here in January of 2017. It is by far on our top 10 list of places we have traveled to. If you were like us, searching tons of different sites and reviews for places to stay, just stop now and book this! The bungalow we stayed in was newly renovated (I think the construction noise the previous reviewer mentioned was to finish our bungalow before we arrived). We were awakened each morning at sunrise to the sounds of the jungle coming alive, and lulled to sleep each night by the sound of the surf. The beach is only a couple hundred yards from the bungalow, and is very private, most mornings there were only several people out enjoying the waves. We rented a 4-wheeler, which was awesome, as it is a long (but very enjoyable) walk along the beach to the town center. Our bungalow was kept very clean, our housekeepers were very through. Gloriana was quick to respond to help with anything we needed, and knew all the best places and things to do in the area. We enjoyed our stay here, and hope to come back again soon!

The worst vacation I have ever had. Please read before you book this place
The description of this place says quiet charming secluded but what we got was not that at all. Friday when we showed up we were informed that men would be on the property doing construction work. Saturday at 7am 3 motorcycles and a few men on bikes show up and are there till sundown. I reach out to the owner to try and get this resolved but by Tuesday I asked to have Hanit Selekter from Cala luxury vacation homes, they are the ones that manager the property, to please come over so we could talk. I explained to her how this was not at all what I paid for. I felt very uneasy changing, taking a shower etc.. with 4-6 strange men just feet away from my villa. The management company was very rude and told me to go find another place to stay that they needed to finish the work. I final got them to take the workers off the property late Tuesday afternoon. Wednesday and Thursday were great no workers and sounds of power tools. On Thursday night I get a message from Hanit that the workers will resume on Friday. Once again 4-6 men there all day till 8pm when finally my son who speaks some Spanish explained to them that we were trying to go to sleep we had a long travel day in the morning to get home. out of the 8 days I stayed I got 2 days free of construction work being done. There were other issues as well like being given the wrong key to the safe and when I sent a message so I could get the right one it took close to 10 hours to be answered. I was forced to take all valuables with me on the beach (which was a pain) we had no hot water to wash dishes with. We were also told that the big bottled water dispenser was for our use and would be refilled if needed, that never happened. The whole experience was terrible. We had no peace and quiet on the property like I was told. I only gave 1 star because you have to give at least 1 star to submit a review.

Pura Vida Relaxation
Escape to Pura Vida .The Santa Teresa Beaches just right outside the property were beautiful to enjoy a morning walk into town or amazing sunset.. The Bungalows were a great setting with a shared kitchen area which our group of 7 were able to come together and relax and cook our meals. The property manager Yadira , was great and gave some great suggestions for local restaurants and shopping.. The howler Monkeys' greeted us every morning,as well as the sweet sound of the birds and crackling approach of iguanas and as well as the squirrels hopping about. We had a nice time and enjoyed the life of relaxation.

Simply Peaceful
My husband and I stayed in one of the cabins for a week. We loved the fact that it was literally steps to a quiet, unspoiled, beautiful beach. Every evening we'd take a glass of wine out to the beach to watch the amazing sunset.
The cabin was comfortable and perfect for our needs. We left the windows and doors open all night and never felt uncomfortable. The shared kitchen is a unique experience. We enjoyed preparing our meals there and this was a perfect opportunity to get to know the people in the other cabin. If you're craving a rustic, outdoor, unplugged experience this is the place for you!

A magical, tropical paradise
Although a bit rustic, this place is totally awesome. Sleeping to the sound of the surf is incredible and the open air kitchen made for a very charming and unique experience. We did interface with howler monkey, iguanas and (friendly) neighborhood dogs. The only negative is that one of the cabins doesn't have good air circulation so we slept with windows and doors open. We were a little nervous about spiders and snakes but didn't have any unsettling night encounters. If you want a traditional experience, this is not place and neither is Santa Teresa. If you want a charming, local experience surrounded by nature and beauty, this is the ideal spot. There were 5 of us and all would like to come back for a repeat stay. Pura Vida, indeed!

NOT looking for the Holiday Inn!
We stayed here for a week in January, and it was exactly what we were looking for. My husband and I brought our parents, aged 75 and 86, and we were all comfortable. Quiet, calm, ocean-front, and beautiful. We enjoyed the outdoor kitchen and ate our breakfasts and lunches there with local fare bought at a store within walking distance. Great restaurants were within walking distance, two right along the beach. We loved being able to roll out of our beds and wander a 1 minute walk to the hammocks on the beach. There was always surf to play in at the ocean, but it was possible to find calmer tidal pools to swim in. The beach was long and gorgeous, and perfect for walking. We loved the chill vibe in the area, many young families and young adults hanging out, and sunsets were amazing because people left the protection of the trees and would come to watch the sunset like a sacred experience. The days were hot and great for outdoor activities, and the nights cooled down so that with a fan we slept comfortably with a light blanket. Many animals roamed around and about, and gave the place it's authentic charm. Locals were friendly and helpful, and the property custodians were always available to help. it was a great break, and we'll be back. Would definitely recommend.

Can't wait to go back!!
My fiancé and I visited this amazing location for our first "real" vacation together and it couldn't have been more perfect! The property is beautiful and well maintained and the cabinas are clean and beautiful as well. The beach is a quick walk away so no need to carry any belongings as you can just return to property. There is a bar/restaurant right next door and other bar/restaurants within short walking distance. The property manager is very helpful and friendly and always available. We decided to rent an ATV for the week and would definitely recommend doing so - not only is it fun, but makes getting around a lot easier. We can't wait to return this year and would definitely recommend this property!!

Looks can be deceiving...
This property is not as private as it claims to be. It is wedged between another vacation rental on one side and a bunch of properties on the other side that include local rentals, beach restaurant with public access roadway and parking lot. One of the cabins is 15ft from a rooster that crows every morning from 3:30 am to 7:30 am. The cabin is also right next to a hut that has construction (hampering, sawing, sanding etc.) sometimes as early as 6:30 am. The cabins are clean, but the one has plastic on the roof to stop a leak. The plastic inhibits the air from circulating through the roof ventilation. Because there are no screens or glass on the windows and doors, it is necessary to open them during the day to let the breeze flow through, however the property is not private and people from adjacent properties walk through to get to the beach. This creates embarrassing situations if you are showering or dressing. No air conditioning, there is a ceiling fan that works well, but the power goes out once or twice a day. It is also extremely dusty, from the nearby dirt road, so if you have asthma or breathing condition, search for a place that offers AC. The Wifi connection has been disconnected, so the cleaning lady was generous and gave us her personal password to use.
The positive points about the property are beach access (cannot see the beach from the cabins), clean, unique, pets are considered. Wildlife on property - iguanas, howler monkeys (overhead), hermit crabs (at night), birds, squirrels, roaming dogs and cat.
Overall we were disappointed, my husband has an extremely stressful job and we were looking for a secluded place that we could rest and catch up on sleep. By the end of the week, we had averaged 5 hours per night and were looking forward to returning home to sleep!

Stunning property off the beaten path. Absolutely perfect for a family/couple/friend getaway
It's a bit of a trek to get to Santa Teresa, but it's so worth it. This property sits at the northern part of town, so the beach (100 steps from your bed) is almost completely empty (no more than a handful of people in sight at any given time). It sits amongst Tico homes (local Costa Rican) and I've never felt more safe in my entire life.
I first stayed here in Jan'11 and immediately fell in love. I've returned 3 times since then and will hopefully return every year or two for the foreseeable future.
If you are looking for a comfortable place to stay in Costa Rica that's off the beaten path (but walking distance to markets and restaurants/bars), I highly recommend staying here!
