An option is to have the chef shop and prepare meals from her Tuscan menu which is a great time and money saver and guarantees a stunning view while you eat. She also offers cooking lessons which is great fun. Lucca: The walled city of Lucca, only 15 minutes from Buralla, is one of the most beautiful places in Tuscany. Big enough to have everything, yet small enough to cover easily and safely on foot or by rented bicycle. For a rooftop view of Lucca, stroll around the 4km city walls. Or cut through the middle on the car-free Via Filiunga. On this street alone you will sample the very best of Tuscan life: visit beautiful San Michele and San Frediano Churches; climb the Guinigi Tower and Torre delle Ore; pause for a restorative coffee or meal in the elliptical Amfiteatro; shop at any number of beautiful outlets; drop into the residence of Giacomo Puccini, and listen to a short evening recital at San Giovanni Basilica or the Opera house. Tosca, Madame Butterfly and many other of Puccini's works are performed in the summer festival at Torre del Lago which is nearby on the Mediterranean coast. This property is fantastic. Beautifully decorated and perfect for larger groups. (We were 14 people). Property is stunning with tremendous views of the Tuscan country side, Each bedroom has its own bathroom / Shower and it is extremely quiet when everyone retires for the evening. We were there in November but the pool, Bocci Court and outdoor covered and BBQ are fantastic for anyone considering travel in the summertime. The villa is conveniently located near Lucca, and wineries, cooking classes, and Florence is within driving distance. Simon is very responsive to requests and very conscientious about communication. We will be back. We were there for some touring around Tuscany and a Birthday celebration and the Chef that Simon recommended was fantastic to work with and the meal was very incredible.

We visited for a week with our family & friends to celebrate our wedding. It was nothing short of perfect. We had been browsing a few properties, and our experience would not have been as amazing as it was if we had not chosen this stay! We cannot stop talking about the mouthwatering food (some of the best meals of our lives), stunning views with beautiful sunsets, comfortable beds and rooms, and the wonderful staff. Simon communicated everything needed for a successful trip. Lino greeted us and showed us around as our jaws dropped at how stunning it was. Antonella, the property manager, was helpful for months before giving me recommendations for wedding details, as well as coordinating & assisting with Chef Lucia’s tasty food. Absolutely suggest dinners prepared by them! Having a guest cabin separate worked well for us and private bathrooms in each room was a huge plus. This villa has everything you need and more. If you are debating between options, this is absolutely worth it! We are already talking of future family and/or friend trips. It was the most special time we will treasure forever.

We looked at a lot of options before choosing Buralla. And we were thrilled with our choice.
The location is idyllic with views that the photos do not do justice. The villa itself is homely with a premium farmhouse feel. It has everything you need for a big group with kids.
The service in the run up was outstanding. Simon and team went above and beyond to make sure our group had what we needed for the various children we had with us.
We had 6 kids and 14 adults, so it was a big group but it did not feel too crowded.
The surrounding area is quiet and stunning, but a very short drive to Lucca which we visited on numerous occasions for dinner, trips around the city etc.
We also did plenty of walks, hiking around the area, including a 12.5km trail run up into the hills which was quite an adventure (though quite challenging). If you so desired, you could hike into a neighbouring village to do more exploring.
The climate was perfect as well. Even though temperatures reached 35 degrees on the last day, the breeze coming up the hill was dry and cooling. We never had any oppressive humidity and it always got much cooler at night.
I don't have much criticism to share to be honest. Perhaps it would have been nice to have a stash of toilet paper vs. having to shop for that, or maybe a mid-week towel change (though we didn't ask for it, so perhaps if we asked they would have delivered).

Our family of 15 had a wonderful time at Buralls Tuscan retreat. The views were stunning and the Villa comfortably accommodated us all. The AC in the bedrooms were a huge plus. There are limited to no transportation options to and from Villa, so make sure you get a rental car. The roads to villa are a bit difficult to navigate but we eventually got comfortable driving to and from the estate.

This villa was more than I had expected. The views are incredible and peaceful. Everything you could need is at the villa. You can pack lightly. Chef Antonella and Lucia were amazing. Many guest comment on it was the best meal of the trip. We added another night of their service. Also, their breakfast menu is a deal! Lino, the grounds manager is so helpful, kind and respectful. The neighborhood includes vineyards within walking distance, make a reservation. A delightful market and coffee bar is a short walk and had everything we needed. Taxis were difficult to procure so having a car is a must. I would book this villa over and over!

From the moment we arrived at this breathtaking Villa, we knew the pictures don’t do it justice! The Villa exceeded our expectations in every way….The grounds were stunning, the interior was gorgeous, All beds extremely comfortable, the views, the pool, All spectacular…..Then Lino, the caretaker was extremely polite and helpful in every way….
We fell in love with Antonella and Lucia, our chefs….We got married on the property and they made our wedding Day beyond Perfect!!!! Antonella handled all the preparations for the Big day before we arrived, and it was beyond my expectations…..We had a cooking class with Lucia, that included our six grandchildren (there were 12 of us total). They LOVED being a part of it! We miss Villa Buralla terribly, but the memories will last forever!

Villa Buralla was a trip of a lifetime - the villa and grounds are breathtaking! Everything went smoothly - Lino, the caretaker was wonderful and communication was easy from the get go - we are a large family of 15 people and the villa was perfect. It was a perfect trip and the perfect place for our daughter to get engaged!! Simon, the owner made everything easy - we hope to come back again one day!!
And to all considering the villa, please treat yourself by having Antonella and Lucia cool for you - their food was amazing and their cooking class such fun!!

Simon and Lino were absolutely wonderful! We arrived late at night in the rain, and had trouble finding the villa. Lino actually came, met us, made us a dinner reservation, had us follow him back to the villa, and then had us follow him to the restaurant and made sure that we were set at the restaurant! We had been traveling for about 20 hours and Lino went above and beyond!
The villa is very clean and has a stunning relaxing setting. Easter morning brought church bells ringing that could be seen and heard from the backyard and Antonella made us an Easter dinner which was wonderful! She recommended Pizzeria PUPPO Appera in town and not only was the food incredible, but so was the owner! Our only regret is that we did not spend more time at the villa... but we were in Italy and there was so much to see and not far from the villa! The map provided was incredibly helpful and held great recommendations for everything from golf to train stations!

What an amazing time had by all as we spent a vacation with extended family at Buralla. Great rooms and amenities with spectacular views. We enjoyed the amazing sunsets as we sat outside on the patio surrounded by olive trees. Lino was so helpful and very informative. We were fortunate to enjoy the amazing talents of Antonella as she cooked for us along with Lucia. We would highly recommend staying at Buralla with all of its amenities to truly experience the Tuscany region of Italy and its beauty.

We loved our stay at Villa Buralla! The villa is stunning and perfect. We were enamored by the views from the villa. We felt the villa was clean and spacious. I highly recommend booking dinners and/or a show dinner with Chef Antonella. The dinners that we had in the villa were amazing.
The location is fairly close to grocery stores and restaurants. We rented a car, which I recommend but also used the hosts' recommended tour companies for hiring a driver/van to take us on wine tasting and other larger excursions.
We are already dreaming of coming back to Villa Buralla next year and highly recommend it!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Buralla. The size and layout is perfect for multiple families and we barely had to leave but the owner recommendations were helpful when we did!

This villa was gorgeous. Equipped with everything we needed. Having teenagers as part of our group, we would have liked to be a little closer to a town. With that said, it was an experience of a lifetime. Do plan on having your own car. That was the other minor setback, the train station was not very close. But again, none of these issues would stop us from staying here. It was a fabulous time had by all.

Fantastic Villa for family gathering
It is a stunning Villa with an unbelievably fantastic support group willing to help you. From booking through check out, organizing meals, arranging outings etc, the process was as smooth as could be. Before we arrived, Simon always always responsive to questions and he'd great suggestions.
Highly recommend, our family were all very happy at end of our stay. Thanks to Simon, Antonelle, Lino and Lucia for making our stay feel special.

Where do I even begin? This breathtaking villa in the most quaint little town of Capannori far surpassed any and all of our expectations. The pictures you see are gorgeous, however, the villa is 10x more stunning in person, which made it the absolute quintessential place for our intimate wedding ceremony.
The grounds are simply immaculate — with scenic views of surrounding villas and ornate gardens, coupled with a lovely pool on the premise. The interior decor is chic and classy — all of our guests felt like they were on a movie set.
The hospitality was also an A+. Simon was very communicative and introduced us to the loveliest private chef Antonella who coordinated a delicious 3-course meal for our guests, along with a hand-made wedding cake, with the best wine we consumed along our trip. Hands down, the best food we had in Italy. Lino, the groundsman, greeted us upon arrival, making us feel right at home instantly. He even helped us secure reservations for 10 people at a local restaurant down the street last minute.
Overall, we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. All of our guests couldn't stop talking about how this was the unquestionable highlight of our Italy trip. Don’t think twice about booking this beauty — it is unrivaled.

We were lucky enough to get married in Lucca and had our small family celebration afterwards at Buralla with a meal prepared by Antonello which was fantastic, the attention to detail to help us set up for the wedding celebration was amazing. For the other days we used Essalunga supermarket deliveries which could be booked at very short notice with reasonable prices.
We would love to return to Buralla one day, its the perfect place for a large family holiday. Immaculate property, treasured grounds, unbeatable views, amazing location... somebody take me back...

very spacious and beautiful villa. stunning garden and pool area very well taken care of by Lino, the perfect host. the villa is ideally located between Pisa and Florence, just outside of Lucca and only 45min from the beach. makes it the perfect spot to chill out during the day by the pool and still have the opportunity to go out for proper Tuscan dinner in town. id highly recommend the private chef Daniele. Simon is very helpful organizing everything.

Lino showed us the lay of the land, both literally and figuratively, and explained the household systems, where to get groceries, how to use the pool (which he kept pristine throughout our week there). Days were spent exploring the countryside, visiting wineries and small villages, lounging at the beach in Forte Dei Marmi and reading by our the pool overlooking rolling hills and olive groves as far as the eye could see. In the evening we indulged ourselves by hiring the kind Antonella and the equally talented Lucia. They would prepare a multi-course gourmet meal, set the table on the hillside under the stars, serve us like royalty and clean up completely at the end of the evening,As beautiful as Villa Buralla is, what made the experience particularly meaningful was the presence of Lino, Antonella and Lucia. Their genuine spirits made our time there feel more like a wonderful love story than real life.As this time of confusion and uncertainty, I often find my mind wandering back to Villa Buralla as a place of calm and contentment. As we arrived at stunning Villa Buralla, we were greeted by the warm and inviting smile of Lino, who is the property’s caretaker and concierge of sorts.

Amazing 2 week stay at Villa Buralla
Villa Buralla was the perfect destination in Tuscany. I rented the villa for 2 weeks for friends and family, and we couldn't have had a better time. The location is PERFECT - I've been to Tuscany many times, but Lucca is my new favorite Tuscan town. Day trips to the Cinque Terre, Florence, the seaside, Sienna, Liguria, are all easily in day trip driving distance. The villa is beautiful - a remote, private setting yet close to modern conveniences (the local grocery is less than 10 mins away and has most things you need). The chefs Lucia and Antonella that the owners put us in contact with were AMAZING! I highly recommend booking them for a few dinners in the villa. And the local winery tour at Valgiano was a real lighlight - the Villa Buralla owner recommended Laura from Valgiano and having been on winery tours all over the world, this was by far the best I've been on (Laura the owner does the tastings herself, explains her bio-dynamic process, and prepares a lunch in her stunning villa on the grounds which was built in the 1500's). Overall I can't recommend Villa Buralla enough - from the pre-arrival support and planning, to the villa itself, the location, the staff and the experiences. It was a perfect holiday in every way.

Magical week in Tuscany
A group of 15 friends had an amazing week at the villa. It was even more beautiful than the photos. The views are just incredible. I recommend visiting lucca as well as the villa at the end of the garden. We had the cooks come and do a dinner and it was one of the best we had in Italy! We hope to come again. :)

AMAZING! Tuscan Gem
This villa is simply spectacular. A group of 20 (12 adults, 8 children) we stayed for the last week in May. The villa accommodated us all with ease. The standard of accommodation is second to none and, in my experience, very rare for a Tuscan property of this size. The grounds of the villa are superb. Lovely swimming pool, alfresco dining and bbq area, bocce (Italian boules) pitch, table tennis etc. The kids were continually entertained and adults all had a wonderful relaxing holiday. The views across the valley overlooking Lucca are truly epic. Lovely private setting within acres of olive groves. You will need a car if you plan to use the villa as a base for exploring this part of Tuscany, but I would also recommend maximising time at the villa and enjoy all it has to offer. Lucca is a beautiful town that has much to see and is a short drive away.
Communication and check-in arrangements are easy. We were delayed due to a late flight but there were no problems being met at the villa. The owner is very helpful and the gardener Lino is a legend. I would recommend asking for a shop of basic supplies to be done for when you arrive. You absolutely must use the chef services at least once. We used twice in the week and would have happily done so every night. Delicious, authentic Tuscan cuisine and totally hassle free.
Our stay here has given the whole family unforgettable memories. Everybody was lost for words about how good this place is. You should not hesitate to book this villa.

Tuscan Dream Home
A group of sixteen, ages 40-85 relaxed, dined and immersed themselves in the Italy countryside lifestyle for two weeks. Key to our pleasant stay were Lino, the property manager, and Antonella, the chef, who provided assistance with everything from sorting the recycling (Italy has one of the most extensive programs we've seen) to recommending companies to bring our large group back to the airport. You should plan for at least a few of Antonella's meals which are well worth the price and allowed us to convene for the freshest, most wonderful repasts you could want ( her tirimisu is unforgettable). Both Lino and Antonella (and her charming assistant) were a tremendous help to us and very reliable. The rooms and property itself is exactly what you would expect with comfortable couches, chairs, beds and a kitchen to satisfy any gourmet cook. Easter Sunday found us hearing not one, but two, bell towers chiming, adding to the charm and romance of the rolling hills setting. We often walked down to the little store at the bottom of the hill which, like all Italian food stores, is stocked with fresh vegetables, cured meats and cheeses. The store was truly delightful, just remember that many establishments close from 1-3 each day. Lucca, a close medieval town, was our favorite relaxing day trip within twenty minutes drive. It is also the location of the train station for excursions to Cinque Terre, Florence, Venice and Rome. ( Even if you have purchased a Eurail Pass, reserve your seats at least a day early to make sure you can sit together or they have room.) The wonderful part of this villa is that not going anywhere will allow you to experience the best of Tuscany Hill life with views to soothe your soul. One day we say two deer bound across the property. Another night we saw both a fox and a porcupine out for their nocturnal activities. The outside fireplace was often used by our Texas group for barbecues. It was also a favorite gathering place at night to watch the city lights, hear the church chimes and be warmed by fire, wine and languorous conversations. All-in-all, the Buralla villa is a wonderful place to experience Italian life, Tuscan living and feel like you are part of the rich and famous for awhile.

Tranquil location with stunning views
First class location with great facilities. We had a local chef cook for 3 nights for the 15 of us - well worth it. The place itself was very well maintained and extra features like the outside barbeque area, boules pitch, tables tennis, and of course swimming pool were well utilized. Area was a bit more hilly than originally thought, but made for better views. Lunch in Lucca was an easy 20 min drive, and Florence just over an hour. Ultimately a great time was had by everyone (15 adults and 4 kids). thanks
