About this chalet rental
This classic chalet-style cabin is set back from the street at the end of a court on a beautiful wooded lot... one of the largest in Massanutten. It backs to common space and has ample privacy, yet is minutes from all Massanutten activities and amenities.
The cabin features over 2500 square feet of indoor living space, a brand new kitchen (2023), a wrap around deck, and screened in porch. It's a great space for families, small groups, and kids of all ages.
The cabin has three levels of living space, three bedrooms, two full bathrooms, a well-appointed and beautiful kitchen, a walk-out basement, rec room, a playroom for the kids, a flat driveway (a luxury around here in the winter), screened in porch, and a large wrap-around deck.
- For the kids - Inside
Every vacation home has a few board games and a deck of cards (this home is no exception), but we know how excited our own kids are when they find something new... so our playroom is stocked with blocks, dinosaurs, cars, trains, puzzles... etc. So there is plenty to keep even the little ones entertained on a rainy day.
- For the kids - Outside
And if its not a rainy day? We know that families come to Massanutten to enjoy the outdoors, and since our lot has such great outdoor space we wanted to provide some options for the kids right here at the house. We've set up a zip line, low ropes, and balance beam. Don't worry, the zipline and low ropes are VERY low (read: safe)… but we had a kid focus group one day and they all said that it was great fun.
- Amenities -
We designed and furnished this cabin with our own family in mind. We love the outdoors and open spaces, and we love the look of exposed beams and the classic chalet-style cabin... Inside we wanted CLEAN (our home ALWAYS will be) and we wanted modern decor and amenities. and a fully stocked beautifully renovated kitchen for all your culinary needs.
- Things to do -
Our welcome packet includes many pages of recommendations for family friendly activities in and around Massanutten. We've done it all, and pointing you in the right direction so you get the most out of your vacation is our specialty! And of course, you can venture outside the resort to the nearby Shenandoah National Park, Shenandoah River, Luray Caverns, local wineries, lavender farm... etc. Options for outdoor entertainment in The Valley are endless.
- We make it easy -
We always provide our guests with linens and towels, dish soap, hand soap, laundry detergent, and other cleaners. We also provide starter sets of paper products like paper towels and toilet paper. We had an amazing stay with our 5 and 8 year old. They loved the zip line and the playroom and all the toys downstairs makes me never want to book a house again without those! The kids were constantly entertained! We had everything we needed for cooking and really enjoyed many activities in the area like the water park and Luray caverns. My kids are already asking to go back!

This house was so fun for kids!! They had so many toys and things for kids to do. The zip line and ropes were awesome and nothing crazy. We had ages 7,6,2, and 9 months and it was great for those young ages.
Wish there would have been a grill, but we knew from the listing that there was not and decided to make the trade off for the kids friendly things!
My biggest complaint was that it wasn’t the cleanest.

My family has a wonderful vacation and this house was part of the great experience. It was clean and beautiful. The owners were communicative and we had all the information we needed on the printouts they provided. We would stay again!

Tucked away at the top of the mountain is this beautiful chalet. So well kept, clean and well-stocked. This home has it all. What a great way to spend a family weekend!

This was our family’s second time staying in this home while visiting Shenandoah, Massanutten, and other sites in the area! The home is very clean, nicely appointed, and has had some nice updates. The “high ropes” course in the yard is tons of fun for the kids. The location is fantastic and very quiet. The VRBO site and description are accurate. We would stay again!

For Kids II is perfect for a family getaway. We stayed here with family friends (4 adults and 2 children <5 in total) and this place was perfect! Centrally located to all the mountain activites and made it easy to get from all the various activities. The property itself has plenty to entertain the kids, so there is no need to pack all the extra toys! We will be back!

Had a group of friends who hadn’t seen each other in a while meet up here for the weekend. It was the perfect place, not only for the adults who often hike together, but also the kids that were part of the group. The kids liked exploring the low ropes in the backyard and the playroom.

This house was really great for small children, as advertised. Our kids—3 and 5–loved it! There are so many toys and games and puzzles, Disney+ on the TV, carpeted steps, bathroom near the kids bedroom, a screened porch, a small ropes course in the yard.
We were so pleased with this stay. Highly recommend to families with small children.

We stayed during Labor Day weekend. The listing met most of our expectations. Inside of the house and screened porch area were clean, however, seating and table on the deck looked like haven’t been cleaned for a while. Kitchen was well stocked and had everything we hoped for. Kids had fun playing on zip line. We will definitely consider staying here again.

The propety was easy to find and easy to access. The bedrooms, kitchen, and bathrooms were all very clean. The kitchen was also well stocked for cooking! We have a 3yr old so going out to dinner every day is not relaxing at all. It was nice to be able to cook a few meals at the house instead. Our daughter loved the playroom downstairs and the smaller room upstairs with the dollhouse. My only complaint was a musty smell in the basement. The rest of my family had no complaints, I am just very sensitive to indoor allergies. My parents were also happy to find a TV in the first floor bedroom so they didnt have to go to the basement to watch television, but we spent most of our time outside!

We met our daughter’s family here with our 4 grand daughters. The girls age 8,6,3,1 loved the books and doll house. The older girls liked the ropes, balance beam and zip line. My daughter and I liked coffee on the screened in porch. It was interesting to see Massanutten area and we enjoyed eating at the Campfire Grill. The kitchen was well equipped, the info on the website was accurate and the checkout instructions were easy to follow.

Took a short trip with the kids to spend the day at the water park, stayed two nights and couldn’t have been happier with this rental. The kids had a blast at the house and were very well occupied in our down time relaxing after a long day in the water!

We loved our trip out to Massanutten and this was a great place to call home base. Spotless house with plenty of space, including multiple playroom areas and an open finished basement. So many activities for the preschool / elementary set. Good communication and easy instructions.

This home worked great for our family and was a short drive to one of the entrance stations to Shenandoah. Our kids (1, 3, and 6 years old) especially appreciated the toys and games in the home - it made for some easy entertainment after a day of hiking! The resort community was very nice and our only regret was that we didn't have a chance to explore many of the resort amenities because we ran out of time. Would highly recommend this home for family with younger children and we will definitely use again when returning to the Shenandoah area!

LOVE THIS HOUSE!!!
This house is everything that was described and more. Our family was a group of 5 adults (3 in their 20's and their parents) and there was plenty of room for all of us to be comfortable. The dining room table was perfect for meals, the screened in porch was a great place to hang out and the windows in the living room let in so much light and brought the outside in.
The neighborhood the house is in was perfect. It was easy to get to, close to many activities and very quiet. There is so much to do in this area for all ages that we had trouble deciding where to go first.
The kitchen was perfect with the right amount of dishes and cooking supplies, the house itself was very clean and well furnished. Getting into the house was easy... we were sent the code shortly before arrival and never had to worry about a key as we just needed to put the code in.
Overall we could not have stayed in a better place.

Peaceful Family Vacation
My wife, children, parents, niece & nephew stayed here during a larger annual family vacation. When we weren’t enjoying other family members or Massanutten it was a great space to relax and enjoy each other.

The house was fantastic. It was perfect for little kiddos and adults. My boys absolutely loved it! The location was fantastic - so much to do! We would highly recommend.

Kid Haven!
This was the most kid friendly rental we’ve ever stayed in! Our family of 5 (kids ages 4, 2 and 8 months) needed a quick getaway/ change of scenery and this was perfect! Plenty of room, so many “new” toys to play with, and a wonderful outdoor space to explore! Conveniently located near an entrance to Shenandoah and other attractions as well!

Great for families with kids
My sister and I stayed here with our families, including kids between 5-10 years old. The little ones essentially lived on the zip line and spent the days exploring nature. During the evenings, each of them found a screen free option to play with between the basement and the little reading/toy nook upstairs.
Definitely recommend if you have children. We will be returning here the next time our travels bring us out to Massanutten!

Great stay for the whole family!
Great location with proximity to Shenandoah Nat’l Park, Luray Caverns, resort activities and amenities and more in the area. The house is lovely, stylish, and clean and has everything you need. The layout is great and the rooms are spacious. We only had our family of 4, but could have easily accommodated grandparents as well and everyone would have had plenty of room and quiet sleeping areas. In addition to the play rooms for the kids, which were even better than the pictures can show, our kids really enjoyed the low ropes course in the yard. We also found a pack’n’play and booster seat for the littlest, which I did not know to expect but was so helpful! Very thoughtful owners renting and running the place. The house is at the end of a road, so very dark and quiet at night and the birds in the morning are lovely! The requirement to take your trash to the central dumpsters and some minor tasks at check out were completely reasonable. Without question, our family will rent again in the future - the kids are already asking when we can come back. :)

Perfect Home Base on the mountain with kids
We had a ball here! Just spent a few nights to get in some last minute skiing, tubing, and a day at the waterpark. The kids (all under 8) absolutely LOVED this house. The basement with all of the toys was a huge hit as was the dollhouse room upstairs. We didn't spend too much time at the house during the day, but we did let the kids take the zipline and the ropes course for a spin and I'm sure that would be a fan favorite if we had stayed longer.
In regards to some of the reviews - yes, the house is somewhat outdated, but it's very clean and had everything we needed. We actually preferred the more rustic feel as opposed to a modern house. The trash was not a huge inconvenience for us at all - but we also only stayed for a couple of days. I don't see it being an issue if we were there longer.
Only feedback is for those with young kids to prepare for the stairs. The stairs to the basement has a door that closes leading down, but there is nothing at the bottom preventing them from going up. The main stairs to the second floor also doesn't have any barriers and it would be difficult to put up a typical baby gate. Thankfully our 18 month old can navigate stairs pretty well, but just be aware if you have a slightly younger child.

Love it!
This was our 2nd stay at this property and we loved it as much as the first. Our girls now expect us to go every year! Our trips are just too short! Our kids love the zip line, Rec room downstairs, air hockey!, and the doll house was a fun surprise! This property is close to everything. I love the “mod, Scandinavian vibe”. We plan on staying next year as well!

Best Vacation
We spent a full week at property and had the best time. Friends stayed with us for 4 out of 7 days. All the kids enjoyed the rec room, toys, dollhouse and outdoor zip line etc. We had family movie nights in rec room.
We did get several inches of snow! Home is Quiet and beautiful but yet super close to all the fun at massanutten resort. We did everything -waterpark, skiing, snow tubing, ice skating and crafts. We had so much fun.
House really was nice. Yes, some things are older/out dated but It has great character. Matt was great to work with. Very quick to respond to any needs. The trash situation- We stayed a full 7 days with two family’s at one point- We made two 5 min drives to drop trash off. Not ideal but understand why this the case. It really wasn’t a big deal.
We are grateful for the wonderful memories we will always cherish from this home and massanutten resort.

Clean, spacious and perfect for kids
I’ve rented many properties with Vrbo over the years and this was by far the nicest!
It was a rainy weekend but I had no trouble entertaining my kids around the property; they loved it! I highly recommend it for families with little ones.

Good location ...
The Pro's: The house is set-up for a family which worked out great for us. There are toys, a small playroom, and the fun outdoor activities. The kitchen is stocked. The bath towels seemed to be new and soft. The neighborhood is quiet and the setting is very peaceful.
The Con's: The garbage situation is ridiculous. You have to drive your garbage about 10 minutes away up the mountain to the resort dumpsters. The morning we left was garbage morning for the neighborhood and everyone had garbage cans out. There IS IN FACT garbage service to this neighborhood. Why are the hosts asking guests to drive their garbage up the mountain? Hard pass.
Also, The bathrooms are badly (1970's) outdated and feel dirty. The carpets are stained. The house needs some work. It's a shame the fireplace was boarded up because it's such a beautiful setting for a fire on a fall night.

The Good the Bad and the Ugly
The Good: Great location, excellent play area in basement for kids, zip line, lots of room, screened in area with ceiling fan, will see wildlife. Property manager was great to work with.
The Bad: Bad low wall design in upstairs bath, put a knot on my head, needs corner protector. No BBQ grill. Only one TV located in basement. TVs in bedrooms would be a nice touch.
The Ugly: 3.5 mile daily round trips to dispose of trash at dumpster site, not what I had planned to do on my vacation. At this price range there should be a means of trash disposal on site!

Family trip with little ones
The house was great and geared for kids which was nice. We had enough rooms for 2 kids to share and a baby to have his own room. The bathrooms had step stools in them and there was a booster chair for baby which was nice. The zip line in backyard and then air hockey table in basement along with dollhouse were huge hit with our kids. The location was great for many things just a bit further to Shenandoah and Luray but still close enough. There were a few bugs here and there but the house was surrounded by trees in woods. There were not bathtub floor grip mats but it was ok. The house was stocked with all we needed and Matt was very communicative. We would consider again if we came out this way.
