Loved this little gem hidden in the woods by Saranac Lake. Very peaceful and great place to disconnect from the world. Host was awesome and the “treehouse” named Melissa was just what we needed!

Really unique, lovely, private place! Hit the sweet spot in many different ways. Marjorie is wonderful, and has great gems of knowledge to share about the area. Access to the dock and the lake is amazing. (Best sunsets ever!) Proximity to hikes and lakes in the area is fabulous. Highly recommend!

We enjoyed staying at Camp Melissa! The cabin was comfortable, and we were able to slow down and have some great paddling and hiking adventures nearby. We liked sitting by the lake at sunset and watching and hearing the loons. Marjorie was a great host!

Perfect place to get away and disconnect. It was quiet, peaceful, and a good place to take a step back and just enjoy yourself without all the hustle and bustle of real life. We were able to easily travel the waterways and dock our boat right at the main B&B. Can't wait to spend more time up there in the future!

Really enjoyed the secluded, quiet property. Quaint and quiet, checkin & checkout were easy. I would recommend this property if you’re looking to unplug for a few days. Area was stunning, we visited early/mid October.

Perfect Last-Minute Getaway
My husband and I had our first short getaway as empty-nesters…and this was the perfect spot to unwind and re-connect! Just a lovely, wooded location with the view of the lake through the trees. Loved sitting on the dock by the water as well. We didn’t partake in any activities as we had our dog with us, but we hope to visit again and get out and about as there is so much to do in the area. Thank for for accommodating us!

We were very comfortable in our little cabin in the woods. Everything that we needed was there, clean and comfortable. Our hosts were friendly and efficient in every way. Being close to the lakes was wonderful, sitting on the dock, watching the sunset, kayaking around the island and through the locks, we loved it all!

Just a fantastic stay in a beautiful location. It was so nice to get away with my wife and enjoy the beautiful fall scenery that the Adirondacks offer. Our cabin was a beautiful quiet location that just made it even more enjoyable.

This was one of the most laid back places I’ve stayed at, and will definitely be coming back again. The small cabin was all me and my fiancé needed, and highly recommend getting a deck of cards and just hanging out. It was a beautiful area, and having no service was amazing.

This is a great little cabin! My wife and I stayed here for 4 days and this was a great home base for all the hiking, paddling, swimming there is to do in the area. It is about a 10 minute drive into town. The property itself is located on Kiwassa lake, so it is easy to take a post adventure swim each afternoon and enjoy the sunset. Will definitely stay here again!

Cochran Cabins - Melissa Cabin in the Woods
Cochran Cabins is a beautiful and peaceful place on lovely Kiwassa Lake. We stayed in a clean one-room cabin with no kitchen, but there is a mini-fridge, a small coffee maker and an adequate supply of plates, cups, silverware, and utensils. There is a bathroom with a shower. The cabin is uphill from the lake, has its own driveway and is very secluded. My husband and I really liked the feeling of being in a private cabin in the woods. There is a nice sized deck, so we didn't feel hemmed in by the one room. The owners lent us a good Weber charcoal grill which we used to grill our food. It was a pretty basic setup, but we loved it. The owners were very friendly, helpful and generous. Mrs. Cochran gave us good advice on hikes and swimming places and also lent us a nice canoe for an afternoon on Kiwassa Lake, which does feed into Saranac Lake. Most of the other cabins do have kitchens and some of them are good for larger groups, but this cabin is perfect for a couple who want that camping out feeling, with a cozy cabin for comfort. We will definitely be back!

Quaint and quiet
Cabin was clean and homey. Personal touches of decor did not go unnoticed! Lovely!

Perfect location and exactly as listed
The owners couldn't be nicer. Will definitely be back and rent a larger cabin. We will be bringing friends to enjoy the experience.

Place was beautiful
No hot water the first day then when it was turned on was still too cold to shower in. Parking was a problem as well

Wonderful!
We had such a great stay, my dog Issabella especially. Margie was such a great host, providing us with everything we needed, suggestions for places to go, restaurants and other activities to try and what the best routes were on the canoes (which you can rent there for a small fee). The cabin was very clean and cozy, with a nice big porch on the front and was only about 50 yards from the lake. By the lake, there were very nice docks, fitted with chairs to lay back and relax in. The water was perfect for swimming. It was very beautiful and quiet here. Would definitely recommend, and I would definitely stay there again.
