About this house rental
Casa de los Sueños is a 3 bedroom/2 bath home on 13 very private, quiet and secluded acres nestled beside a rainforest reserve in the Escaleras Mountains. The property offers spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean. View year round breath taking sunsets over the ocean from two of the three bedrooms, the great room and pool patio, since the back of the house faces due west. The house sits 1000 feet above sea level and is surrounded by lush rainforest and tropical gardens. Much of the terrain was reforested with native Costa Rican hardwoods, and fruit and flowering trees. There are ample opportunities to spot wildlife on the property such as toucans, white faced-monkeys, howler monkeys, scarlet macaws, coati, pavones, two-toed sloths, the rare ant-eater and the stunning morpho butterfly.
The three bedrooms are air conditioned and will comfortably sleep six. The great room includes the dining room, living room, a fully equipped kitchen, and wet bar. A laundry room with washing machine and dryer is located off the kitchen. The house is fully furnished, has Satellite TV service, high speed fiber optic internet service, DVD and CD players. The master bedroom suite has a king size bed and sliding glass doors to the pool and patio. It also has a large bathroom with shower and a Jacuzzi bathtub. Another full bathroom is conveniently located between the other two bedrooms, one with queen bed and the other with two twin beds. Housekeeping service is provided once a week, as well as a full time caretaker/gardener six days a week. There is also a large electric gate with key pad at the entrance to the property. Casa de los Sueños has a security alarm system with keypad access and exterior security surveillance cameras in key positions that does not cover the pool and any guest use areas.
The house is less than 4 kilometers south of the village of Dominical. Located in a very unique region of Costa Rica where the mountains meet the sea, Casa de los Sueños is about 2 kilometers up into the Escaleras Mountains. Therefore, a four-wheel drive vehicle is highly recommended.
Whether you choose to go hiking around the property or enjoy the many activities available in the area including beaches, you will certainly not be disappointed with your stay at Casa de los Sueños.

We had an amazing time at the Villa. It completely lived up to the previous reviews. Dominical is a great to explore from. The arrangements and communication with Massi was excellent. We used Silvias services a lot too- she was fantastic and I wish she was available for all our holidays!

Great stay. We always felt very safe wherever we went. We did see some wildlife. My kids loved the pool! You can’t beat the views. The location is great; right between Uvita and Manuel Antonio. We loved the local beaches! The road up to the house really was quite easy. We have no complaints. I would book this house again. Thanks!

My husband and I stayed here for four days in April 2024 and we really enjoyed just sitting on the patio and swimming in the pool. Property is about 10 minutes from Dominical and is road which is not paved (and up a hill). Can’t imagine a car without 4x4 would work, we rented a Hyundai toucan and it worked fine. Property manager was easy to communicate with through WhatsApp.

We just recently stayed here the view incredible
. It is an adventure getting up there but it was worth it and half of the fun. We will definitely be back here. Amazing restaurants near by and if you’re a surfer a wonderful surf spot near by. It’s quick to get to other towns and go exploring. Quick drive to Manuel Antonio and to the waterfall. Perfect location to get to see a lot of the country. Thanks for having us.

We stayed for 5 weeks from Feb. 24 to Mar. 31 2024. While the drive up the hill got rougher as the weeks went by, we have been on rougher roads in Costa Rica. The house did not disappoint. Views were spectacular, the pool was a perfect way to relax on hot days and the house had everything we needed. Adriano was quick and attentive to any needs we had and Gerardo was always quick to respond to anything we asked. He also challenged us with the little Spanish we learned online but that was fun! We enjoyed sporadic visits from howlers and white-faced capuchins as well as toucans, aracaris and other tropical birds. We spent three weeks with friends and two weeks with family including two young grandsons and they thoroughly enjoyed the pool. We felt very safe and secure and would highly recommend this house for a quiet get-away.

We loved this peaceful and private home in the jungle. The outdoor living spaces are high-quality and and the views are spectacular. We spent most of our time enjoying the property and watching the wildlife. The beds and bedding are very comfortable. The house is well-equipped with everything you need for a vacation in the Dominical area. We would love to stay again!

We loved our week at Casa de los Suenos. The view is amazing, the pool so refreshing after swimming at the beach, and kitchen well stocked for making your delicious fresh fish and fruit smoothies! You’ll hear howlers and soooo many birds, lots of parrots and toucans. Massi was so helpful, even after we left, about a forgotten item. We’ll be back for sure!

We had a wonderful time at Casa de los suenos.
A magnificent panoramic view of the forest and the ocean.
The qazebo was our favorite place to admire the sunset.
The water in the pool was perfect and the villa was very clean when we arrived.
Gerardo was there at the right time to make sure everything was going well for us. He introduced us to the magnificent playa Linda.
Sylvia walked us all through the process of renting our car and helped ensure everything went smoothly.
We will keep very good memories of this exceptional place!

Amazing property and views with wildlife in abundance. We loved our stay and all the extra added touches that made the place homey and comfortable. Great outdoor living spaces. Wish we could have stayed longer! We would have appreciated a kettle for tea since we are not coffee drinkers but a minor thing. We could have done without the constant noise of the waterfall between pools, which we creatively managed. Staff onsite surprised us a few times. Overall, we would come back to Casa de los Sueńos in a heartbeat.

This is a wonderfully equipped home with a spectacular view that happens to be fairly close to the main highway. Homes with this view usually require a 15-20 minute drive up into the mountain. This house is like 6 minutes up the road. The welcome basket that was left for us put a big smile on our faces. Getting a hold of the management company was quick and easy.
My one complaint is that it was very hot in the main living area since there is no A/C in that area. While there are 3 fans in that living area, they are all stuck in the low position which renders them useless. We were told that they were going to replace the fans. We even saw them in the storage area. If only they had replaced them before we arrived. The bedrooms are fine with perfectly working A/Cs.
The other comment I have is to build one step by the jacuzzi. The patio floor is extremely slippery when coming out of the jacuzzi and it’s about a three foot step down. I took a tumble and am lucky I didn’t break my knee or elbow, or something more serious. I’m sure I’m not the only one that has slipped coming out of the jacuzzi.
We would definitely stay at this house again. Although we didn’t see all the wildlife we were hoping for, we heard the howler monkeys on 4 different days, saw a toucan and many other birds, along with a critter that might have been a coati. This is the perfect location close to Dominical and Uvita. Great restaurants close by with Scala becoming our new favorite. Pura Vida!

The 5 star reviews don't do it justice, this amazing house with an incredible backyard was the perfect setting for our family vacation this year. Not only was the house great but the support from Tracy the owner, to Massi who helped with whatever our needs were as well as Sylvia who helped coordinate our activities.
We look forward to coming back soon!

We arrived late, at night. 4 hour drive took us 9. Very responsive, so thankful I could get internet near the house! Even though late… Tracy was responsive. We are a wild crew on the road for day trips so didn’t have a schedule, but the property manager found us when he could and checked in. A little hard to find at night, intent was the day, but well… it happens in CR! All good. We made it! Small town at bottom of mountain. No issues everyone was kind, but didn’t visit at night. Groceries or beer are pretty cheap there and again no issues, locals were very kind. The pool and view as well as the property was extremely clean, so much outdoor space! Short drive to town and food. Quiet oasis! Toucans everywhere, white face family of monkeys we saw on our hike! Like 10 of them! Secret little waterfall at the end of the road before the town, just check out google map. Don’t walk up lol, we almost died ha! But made it! Really is a gem! Only thing is it’s a bit up in the mountains, so if you’re going to cook or store food get some Tupperware and all your grocery items before you head up, Quepos is the best at a local market, all else in the house was plentiful! Pots pans dishes etc! We even left a couple rafts for someone new! One big toad that hangs out at night at the pool, but he steers clear! He’s cool! So much wildlife, we would stay again for sure! Enjoy! Thank you for the wonderful stay!

We couldn’t ask for anything more. This place is perfect. Extremely responsive hosts, wonderful indoor and outdoor kitchen set up (with great pans!), comfy beds, amazing pool, and insane views. The property includes other amenities, including folding beach chairs, boogie boards, towels, and a cooler—all thoughtful add-ons that we greatly appreciated.
We thoroughly enjoyed our daily conversations with the howler monkeys and other fauna. It’s perfectly located between Dominical (5 min drive) and Uvita (15 min drive). You definitely need a 4x4–they aren’t kidding! We 100% would rent this wonderful oasis again.

Amazing Vacation. The house is Fantastic. Great location 20 minutes to Uvita to the south and 45 minutes to Quepos in the north. Silvia helped us with booking various activities which made it much easier. We would head out in the morning for ziplining, horseback riding, waterfall rappelling, beaches, river tubing and more then have lunch out. Return in the afternoon and relax by the pool and enjoy the view. It was GREAT!! Awesome views and spectacular sunsets! A lot of privacy, can not see any other houses in the area. We were looking for a place without large crowds and this was perfect!
The outdoor living set up is FANTASTIC!! Pool and Jacuzzi overlooking the Pacific with a sunbathing deck, large covered gazebo which is perfect for when it rains, covered outdoor kitchen with grill, sink and electricity is perfect. The grill is great, very large and includes a flat top in it. 6 burners. Able to use the blender outside for tropical cocktails. We were there for a week and bugs were not an issue. Any small crumb will attract ants though inside and out so all meal prep and cleaning was outside. (breakfast & dinner) found a lot of places had ants all over Costa Rica including most of the restaurants.
It is a dirt road up the mountain so 4x4 is needed when it rains.
Saw monkeys and toucans on the property.
Highly recommend this house!!!

We enjoyed our time in this Beautiful home.
We were amazed at how clean the house was. Tracy was very responsive/ helpful/kind and even gave us wildlife spotting advice!! . Massi the manager of the was absolutely incredible. We had immediate responses to all our needs/questions even on the holiday. The area of Dominical is a small beach town .. we explored for a few days while traveling all over Costa Rica. The view from this house is spectacular. The remote area provides peace and tranquility so you can actually hear monkeys and toucans every day :)
The wonderful AC in the bedrooms was vital to a good night sleep and the beds were SUPER comfy. Plenty of room for our family of 5 to spread out! If you are not adventurous I might seek out a location in a populated area hotel area as the road is super easy to access via suv but I could see some folks not appreciating the narrow roads as much as we did ( which is all over Costa Rica in general! ) overall this house has it all :)

We had the pleasure of staying at this property for 12 days in March / April and it was an amazing experience. The house is perfectly appointed, clean, and comfortable. The landscape and garden, views, pool and lounge areas cannot be beat!! We spotted toucans, aracari, and many other types of birds from the property, as well as couti, howler monkeys and capuchin monkeys. It is about a 20 minute drive from the house to Uvita one way and as they mention, you will need a 4x4 for the bumpy road up to the property. From someone who has an immense fear of spiders - we had no issues here and were pleasantly surprised at how little bugs there actually were, being that you're situated in the middle of the jungle hillside. Having said that, we were visited by a Stick Bug one day, who decided to hang on to the sliding doors outside the house. It was actually pretty cool to see one of those up close. Sunsets are amazing and ocean views from the pool or covered lounge areas are second to none! Thank you for the great memories.

We spent 2 weeks at Casa Los Suenos & enjoyed every minute of it! The ocean view is spectacular! The house is spacious & very comfortable. The new outdoor areas, Rancho, sun chair deck & outdoor kitchen add everything you need to live the great outdoors. The location is perfect. Playa Dominicalito (10 minutes max) is a great "little" beach with excellent walking, go at high tide if you want to swim because it is rocky at low tide. Excellent local fish monger opposite entrance to La Percela restaurant. La Percela has gone a little more upscale (& so have the prices) which was not needed, but the view overlooking Playa
Dominicalito is spectacular. Grocery store in Dominical (10 minutes) has just about everything you need.
We saw Howlers & Capucine monkeys on the trees right beside the house on a couple of occasions. Heard the Howlers everyday (sometimes very early in the morning!)
Would not hesitate to stay here again. Loved it!

CDLS is just amazing! Having been there multiple times, the new exterior additions are over the top! The new 'RANCHO", gazebo type addition, over looking the jungle, down to the pacific is the ideal spot for relaxing and enjoying the morning coffee and evening cocktail while getting shade protection from the sun. The newly constructed 2nd sun deck will not disapoint as the chaises and sun umbrellas give it a very tropical feel while enjoying that favorite beverage. Exterior kitchen! Yup, say no more! Enjoy the outdoors while under a roof to BBQ, dine, relax or just entertain. CDLS has it all. While the interior is spectacular alone, with every amenity you could want, the new exterior renovation have given a new dimension to the already fantastic villa. Tracy and Jim have done a amazing job to provide their guests a 6 star destination. Job well done and congratulations on the most amazing, vacation destination! Thank You, Boston Bob

Just the most perfect spot you can think of. Up the hill indeed but it's worth the ride. Views to kill. The pictures are not giving it justice. Massimiliano (property manager) was super helpful for everything but the medal of honor goes to Gerardo, the gardener. Just the best guy you can think of to learn about the place (especially the fauna!)! Place is clean as can be even though we spent every minute around the pool or on one of the exterior chilling areas! I definitely recommend the place.

We were very pleased with our stay. The view was incredible and the animals and wildlife we saw on the property was a dream come true. The outside amenities were superb. We used the pool and sunning deck everyday. The fans throughout the inside and outside of the home kept the warm air moving and it was very pleasant. At night we enjoyed having the air conditioners. The mattress in the master bedroom was very comfortable however the other 3 mattresses were quite hard and the twin bed wooden frames made a lot of noise when you rolled over. We did have to contact management a few times regarding the security system and front gate not working properly and each time they were very helpful and responded in a timely fashion. Definitely explore the waterfall that is halfway up the dirt road leading to the house. We visited that waterfall along with many others and loved them all. We would definitely recommend this property! We loved our stay in Dominical!

Our family really enjoyed our stay at Casa de los Sueños. The communication with Tracy, right from the beginning of our booking journey was very smooth and efficient. Silvia (the house concierge) gave us an informative list of activities / restaurants and helpful tips for visiting the Costa Ballena area. She helped arrange a 4*4 rental car and a shuttle from the airport for us during our stay. It was very nice dealing with a local person who knew the area of Costa Rica. She was very responsive, kind, and helpful. We had a great time exploring the area, and recommend this property and location to anyone looking to stay in the area.
We received very detailed house instructions from Massi. It outlined all the information needed to make our stay at the house an enjoyable one. Upon arrival at the house, we were greeted with a gift basket of butter, milk, bread, wine, gouda, crackers, coffee, fruit... very nice! Home had essential and extra amenities (beach chairs, extra towels, coffee). Gerardo (gardener) gave us a tour of the amazing property. We got to see the massive Ceiba tree on the property which you are able to climb with a guide. Unfortunately, the timing did not work for us to climb the tree to the lookout platform. The updated outdoor bbq kitchen, lounge deck and lookout patio really took the outdoor living space around the pool area to new level of luxury!!
We visited Manuel Antonio national park where we had a wonderful guided tour to see many birds. A chocolate/coffee tour at the Biophilia park in Manual Antonio was a delight for our family. There is a local waterfall at the bottom of the road up to Casa de los Suenos that was a hidden gem in the Costa Rican jungle. A ride with Jungle ATV from Uvita was a fantastic way to ride up to 4000 ft. above sea level and witness the beauty of the region from high above. An adventurous hike to the spectacular Nauyaca waterfalls again reinforced how beautiful this part of Costa Rica really is. The many beaches in the area allowed us to relax and enjoy our visit to the dominical region. Each evening upon returning back to the resort, we enjoyed a cool dip in the pool while we enjoyed cooking meals in the outdoor kitchen and watching the spectacular sunsets from a piece of paradise.
We loved staying in this house. The property was beautiful and the views were spectacular! I loved waking up and taking a dip in the pool in the early morning. We saw many of the native birds each day. Great place !!!

Very nice and open design house. Unbelievable views of Pacific Ocean, great sunsets, potential for wildlife. Family had a great visit. 4x4 vehicle is definitely needed to reach property as road is fairly steep and rough in spots and with frequent heavy rains can worsen. We would definitely recommend this property to anyone with kids looking for a great place to stay nearby ocean (10-30min drive) depending on the beach.

We had a wonderful family vacation at this home. We spent most of our time on the patio enjoying the ocean and jungle views. We caught a few glimpses of wildlife at the home. A group of little toucans visited one day, a cute coti crossed the lawn and gave us the side eye to see if we had scraps worthy of a stop, and I spotted a few howler monkeys from the master bath. The home is close to Playa Dominical, one of our favorite spots, and a wonderful, laid back little beach town. We stumbled upon La Placena at Playa Dominicalito. Highly recommend finding it! We were pleasantly surprised by the capuchin monkeys that playfully took over the restaurant during our evening drinks. Overall, we had a lovely vacation at this beautiful home. Five of us were perfectly accommodated here. The kitchen is also well-equipped for cooking meals and eating in. Thanks Tracy!

This is my review
There's not much I can say that hasn't been addressed in other reviews. This is the best short-term rental I've ever stayed in and you're not going to find a better property or location for the price. It's two houses combined into one - a beach home and jungle paradise. Everything was perfect. A couple of things to note (1) the dirt road to the house isn't that bad, even with alot of rain. It is bumpy so a higher clearance vehicle is recommended. (2) Take a walk up the road for some great bird watching. (3) Make sure you visit downtown Dominical, it has alot of nice shops and restaurants (4) The closest grocery store is north on your right hand side before you cross the bridge. There's also the Tiki Bar, an inexpensive restaurant with high quality food. (5) Playa Ventanas was our favorite beach, it''s a horseshoe with rocks on both sides and very calm waters even during high tide. (6) We really enjoyed the boat tour at Marino Ballena and saw lots of whales. (7) Alturas Wildlife sanctuary is a great local stop and only a few minutes from the house. Our kids loved the birds, sloth, Ocelot and monkeys.

We had a great stay, and truly enjoyed the property. It was great for our family of 4. The communication prior was fantastic. We had a great time exploring the area, and recommend this property and location to anyone looking to stay in the area.

Five of us stayed at the property for 8 nights. We did get in late at night, so we had to look carefully for the road up to the house. We found it and got settled in. There was a nice welcome basket waiting. We had stopped for groceries on the way in but would've skipped a few things had we known the contents. I guess if you stay 7 nights or more you get a basket. There was butter, milk, bread, wine, gouda, crackers, coffee, fruit... very nice!
We were absolutely in full relaxation mode the whole time. The view is incredible. The sunsets are breathtaking. The pool is warm and clean. The pool guys came a couple of times and were quick and efficient. The rooms do cool very quickly when you turn on the AC. Since the living/dining/kitchen area is not airconditioned, it did get warm in the afternoon. My only suggestion would be for there to be blinds or curtains on the poolside windows that could shut out the sun in the afternoons.
The howler monkeys made their selves known to us daily. We saw a couple of them during our stay. The birds kept us entertained. There were some beautiful toucans that visited each morning and evening. I got some terrific photos.
We out daily to either sight see or get groceries. We really liked the Supermarket BM in the Uvita area. It had a good selection of items. Dominical has grocery items but seems more limited. We got some shirts and souvenirs in Dominical. There is a nice market by the beach with all sorts of items.
We ate at the house almost exclusively. We used the grill to fix up some fresh red snapper and shrimp we found at a nearby fish shop. We did go into Dominical one night. Had drinks at Fuego for St. Patrick's Day (really fun) and then on to the Dominical Sushi place for a birthday dinner. It was really busy that night so service was bit slow, but the food was great. We got two boats of sushi. The sushi literally came in wooden boats. Such a cute presentation!
We did do a guided tour of Manuel Antonio. Saw howler monkeys, squirrel monkeys and white face capuchins. Got great pics of a mother and baby sloth sleeping up in a tree. I would recommend spending the extra for a guided tour. I don't think we would've seen as much as we did without the guide. Josue was very experienced and knowledgeable. We all really enjoyed the tour.
Overall, I would highly recommend time at this house and this part of the CR!

A hidden gem on the hillside! We were struggling to find a nice house at a reasonable price when we finally happened upon this one; once we arrived, we were thrilled to see the property actually matched the photos (it’s easy to be deceived these days).
It’s not too far from the road, but very private with million dollar views and plenty of space. Our family of 3 stayed a week and invited friends over one evening for dinner, for a total of 7 adults. It didn’t feel cramped and a couple who’d recently moved to CR 5 months ago was impressed with the property (they’d seen quite a few rentals).
The main living space doesn’t have AC like many places, but dipping in the pool and/or heading to the beach during the heat of the day make it quite manageable.
Communication with the property management team was a breeze and made our stay enjoyable.
Will definitely be back!!

This house is very warm, spacious, and comfortable with amazing views of the jungle mountain valley and ocean. Prime sunset location as well. Daily visit and sightings of monkeys, toucans, butterflies, geckos, and other birds are part of your experience. A local private serene community and remote area. Security focused in the home and out with an entrance and exit gate system. Require a 4 x 4 vehicle to manage the road to house and other areas to venture on the mountain. The pool was clean and a great spot to spend time everyday. Restaurants in the area were excellent...
