About this house rental
When you arrive you will find that our architect maximized light, air and views, with great flow from the upstairs vaulted bedroom ceilings to the open plan downstairs. The spacious front and back decks overlook seasonal gardens with gorgeous landscaping and neighboring woods. From daffodils to hibiscus, rose of sharon to japanese maple, we designed our organic gardens for lots of color throughout the spring, summer, and fall seasons, attracting abundant wildlife.
We are in a great location. Walk along protected wetlands to lovely Forest Beach, where you can find your own stretch of sand away from the crowds. Osprey and plover nesting areas in the wetlands and dunes are thriving. A half mile walk behind the dunes ends in a tidal estuary. It's also a short stroll in the other direction to a great cafe/bar and wonderful upscale restaurant. After jogging, biking or enjoying the beach we have a lovely very private outdoor shower for you to wind down.
We are pet friendly so bring your WHOLE family on your next vacation. We have a $175 pet fee.
Each of the three bedrooms has its own bathroom, TV, DVD, and radio/Iphone port. We have two separately zoned central air and heating systems (one upstairs and one downstairs) for your year round comfort.
The master suite has a tempurpedic queen bed and full bath. The other two bedrooms can be made up as twin sets or king, and contain all new pillow top mattresses with hotel quality linens. There is a ping pong table in our basement rec-room/art studio, and even beach chairs and towels are provided.
Our home is also handicap accessible, complying as much as was possible to ADA requirements on the entire first floor. Both front and back decks are wheelchair accessible. The downstairs bedroom flows into a shower bathroom with grab bars and also grab bars around the toilet. The upstairs back bathroom with shower also has grab bars. The upstairs bedrooms have a lofty feel with lots of windows and light.
We welcome well-behaved dogs. We just ask that you pick up your pet poo please for the folks who follow you.
Our living room has two six foot sofas, two comfy club chairs and an extensive library for all ages. This is a great room to entertain and enjoy a book, game, or bingewatch movies with a nice fire. This space flows into a brand new cook's kitchen, fully equipped with whatever you may need for any kind of feast. We have ample dishware and cookware for you and all your guests - no foraging for a corkscrew here! All of our appliances are top quality, including an extra full size refrigerator/freezer in the basement for your overflow drinks and produce.
An eight to ten minute walk from our front door leads you to Forest Beach on Nantucket Sound for swimming, birding, and water sports. If you want to drive your gear down there, parking is free. Following Forest Beach or the marsh path towards Chatham town, you will find our beautiful estuary. Watch the tides come and go, enjoy the shells and other ocean treasures at low tide. Go the other way on Forest Beach Road and you can easily walk to the Talkative Pig restaurant, Pisces Restaurant, the Cape Cod bicycle path and Highway 28. A ten minute drive takes you to the Cape Cod National Seashore and all kinds of beaches, both fresh and salt water ponds, and eateries.
We also enjoy a small public park with a large meadow behind it, a five minute walk from our front door, which includes a tennis court, basketball hoop, and jungle gym for the little ones. Our neighborhood is quiet and safe, with woodsy shortcuts between beaches and plenty of nature for the whole family to explore. Our own gardens are organically grown and we include numerous native plants as well as the old favorites, with a nice lawn and eye for seasonal color changes.
Our expansion of the original family home has created a wonderful and workable vacation getaway, where groups can gather for fun and scatter for privacy. In addition to the three bathrooms, we have a spacious outside shower with ramp and grab bars, and there is ample off street parking.
The ping pong rec room in our basement shares the space with a large laundry area and art studio with lots of natural light.
At every turn we have provided for our renters all those comforts that we ourselves enjoy, with amenities that will exceed your every expectation. Once you have experienced Paul & Mary's Place, you'll never want to go anywhere else.

This was a wonderful family vacation. My 2 grown sons and my grandson with our significant others. Check in was simple, seamless. Communication with host timely. The neighborhood is very peaceful. We had many beach options, played golf, shopped and had many close be restaurants(drifters was our favorite and so close by). We had a 16 month old and we managed to find lots to do. 3 baths was great to keep our privacy. Back deck was great. We had a small issue and Martha was gracious and apologetic. We can tell she is conscientious and caring to share her home! Thank you Martha, we made such special memories.

Lovely quiet neighborhood and a beach within easy walking distance. One of Chatham’s best restaurants is also within walking distance and the town of Chatham is a quick drive away.
Plenty of clean extra towels, dishes, glassware etc for a large group to stay.
Nice outdoor porch with a gas grill. Very nice for a family stay.

The house is exactly as presented, lovely gardens and two decks. The back deck afforded great privacy which was a pleasant surprise. The neighborhood is conducive for leisurely walking. The house inside was perfect because each family unit had their own bathroom and good size room. Kitchen was a great size also with everything needed. The proximity to the beach is quite close, easily walkable, but also with available parking spots (no fee!) A nice plus was that downstairs were beach toys as well as all kinds of toys for children (grandchild loved the Duplo Legos). Will definitely stay again!

We enjoyed a long weekend at this house in South Chatham. Thw location is convenient to the beach and bike trail and we used the tennis court that’s a few houses down the street. The kitchen and bathrooms seem newly renovated and the house had all the supplies we could need. Our only issue was the smell of dogs in the living room.

A nice quiet neighborhood. Great house for both my husband and I to stay downstairs and my grandkids and parents to stay upstairs. Lots of bathrooms too. Nice big kitchen and living room with a deck. Walk to the beach which wasn’t crowded. Beautiful area with lots of great restaurants and shops a short drive away. The basement needs a new dehumidifier, but we enjoyed the ping pong down there anyway. Loved the giant orange octopus painted on the wall down there.

Three generations enjoyed our stay in this spacious home. The layout was perfect to give everyone plenty of space. It’s just a short walk down to the beach to enjoy the sunrise and sunset and a short ride to enjoy the shops in downtown Chatham or watch the daily catch come in at the Chatham Fish Pier.

A wonderful location so close to the beach down the road! Very pretty and private! Harding's' Beach and Cockle Cove Beach near by too with restrooms. The cleaning staff missed some things for the owners such as dust and spider webs on wall light fixtures, garbage receptacles in the kitchen need to be wiped down. Some cosmetic cleaning such as deck railings.
The backdoor is tricky to lock and it should be looked into. Overall, a nice spot.

House location was excellent to walk down the street to a great beach. House had everything we needed to grill out; hang outside and enjoy family time.

We had a wonderful time at the house. Property was pretty and bigger than what we expected. The neighbors were so nice and friendly too. The beach was within walking distance but with the free parking we took advantage and drove down. Lovely time, very relaxing.

Much to like a lot, some (perhaps early season) blips
Good location, good space, and a great kitchen that truly did have everything. Made cooking together fun. Also very well cleaned, and the towels are good quality. Great kitchen appliances with a good ice maker...but beware, tge fancy oven takes forever to get to temperature! :-) We did have trouble getting TVs to work (they just shifted from cable to fire sticks/internet and didn't seem to really know how to make it work --no how-to instructions yet), toiletries were minimal/missing and, while the assistant manager was very responsive online, primary help lived far away so hands-on help was minimal....but! Nice neighbors came by to try to help with TV issue. We had great weather, and sitting out on the deck, with the sun on us, was terrific!

A perfect week at the Cape
Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The house was clean and comfortable and conveniently located near a neighborhood beach and the Cape Cod bike trails. The neighborhood was quiet and our hosts were incredibly responsive -- getting back us right away with any questions that we had.

Enjoyed a great week here in the mid-spring season. Clean and well set-up property. Check-in instructions were clear. Owner was highly responsive to the few questions we did have.

The Great EsCAPE
My husband, our two adult children and their SO's and our grand dog had a wonderful, stress free vacation at Paul and Mary's place which was exactly as described in the listing. We arrived to a super clean house and an incredibly well stocked kitchen. ( I always travel with my own knives, oyster shucker, cheese grater, - NO need! Only thing missing were chip clips LOL! ) Martha and her housekeeper were immediately responsive and a delight. Each bedroom was comfortable, lots of extra pillows and blankets, and had its own bathroom. There is a great selection of books and dvd movies and the internet connection is very good. This location is perfect to accessing some of the best beaches on the cape (go tubing as the tide comes in at Skaket beach.) Leave your beach towels and chairs at home. The house has them and boogie boards too. Chatham Village Market and the Chatham Pier Fish Market have excellent quality meat and fish respectively - the fish market will cook and crack your lobsters at no extra charge. Marions' Pies is 1.5 miles away (pastry, pies!, prepared dinners.) A big Stop and Shop a couple miles away. The 2nd full size fridge/freezer in the basement was so appreciated as we did want to eat at any sit down restaurants and grilled/cooked in most nights. We were thrilled to share the week with Hopper, our grand dog. He had a daily walk and swim at Taylor's Pond ( followed by an outdoor shower) and made friends with the neighboring dogs. The neighborhood is super quiet and friendly. Cocktails, snack plates and star gazing at Forest Beach in the evenings ( this beach is a little rocky in spots, bring swim shoes, the water temperature is warm and it is very calm.) We drove over to Mayflower Beach one evening with takeout from Captain Frosty's to watch the sunset- worth it! We hiked around the pond in Nickerson State Park, bring your bathing suits as the pond has lots of small private swimming coves and is dog friendly. We visited many beaches- our favorite was Race Point in Ptown. You will love the amenities, location and serenity of this lovely home.

A great time!
Location of this property was key. A quick walk to a private beach was perfect! Not always easy finding 3 bedrooms each with a bathroom. Traveling with friends is always fun but having your own space was important. This property offered just that. Thank you for answering our questions quickly & having all details at our fingertips. The kitchen table as well at patio space fit us all with plenty of room. We had a great time! Thank you!

WONDERFUL!!
We had a WONDERFUL stay at Martha's beautiful home! She has truly thought of everything! This home does not feel like a rental at all! The entire home and all of its contents are there for your use - including beach gear, towels, bed linens, kitchen items (spices and all)! We loved the layout of the house. Every room has a bathroom (one is en suite, other 2 are in hallway beside room). The basement laundry, ping pong table and additional living area were much appreciated! The home was EXTREMELY clean and well-maintained. The yard was beautifully manicured! We loved the quiet neighborhood which was nice for walking our dog. The beach is nice and only about a 10 minute walk away. The central location of this home is perfect for making trips to the other areas of the Cape. Martha was the perfect hostess! She was quick to respond to my phone call when I had a problem upon check-in and immediately had it corrected. She maintained contact with me prior to our stay to make sure that we had everything that we needed. Check-in and check-out couldn't have been easier! It's a rare place that doesn't have all kinds of requirements that you must do prior to leaving. We appreciated not having to complete a check list on a day that's already hectic. We would DEFINITELY stay here again! Thanks, Martha!

Pleasant, comfortable house--everything you need
The house is in a convenient location in a quiet neighborhood. It is very well equipped with good and abundant linens, Bosch appliances, excellent showers and comfortable beds. It is roomy, light and airy with excellent windows. It was nice to have a key pad and not have to deal with keys. The day ferry to Nantucket was nearby and in a charming harbor. The owner was responsive and gave good instructions.
About the only negative is if you want to be right on the water. Thanks to the owners for facilitating a nice girls' biking getaway.

Charming, comfortable house close to the beach
We (a family of four and a dog) spent two lovely weeks at Paul & Mary's in late July. The house is nicely positioned between two classic Cape Cod towns, Chatham and Harwich Port, both of which have some great restaurants, bars, theaters. It's located on a quiet, attractive street, within walking distance to Forest Beach as well as the Cape Cod bike/hiking trail and a few restaurants. The house is well stocked with beach toys, movies, games, and a ping pong table. We found it to be very clean and comfortable. And nearly every question we had (about laundry, garbage, etc.) was answered in a strategically placed note. The owners were quick to respond to text messages.
The house has A/C but we only used it on 2-3 very hot days. Typically, leaving the windows/doors open was enough to capture the sea breeze. We grilled on the back deck several times and took a long walk around the neighborhood nearly every night. We also had friends over for BBQ on two occasions and there was plenty of room for everyone. Being big baseball fans, we also attended several Cape Cod Baseball League games in both Chatham and Harwich.
On our first morning back home, our eldest son said, "I'm going to miss that Cape Cod house." Us too.

Amazing
I have stayed in many vacation rentals over the years but never one as welcoming and well equipped as this. The home is just as pictured, and is perfectly located in the beautiful town of Chatham. I highly recommend Paul and Martha's home to anyone thinking about renting on the Cape.

Wonderful house for a restful vacation getaway!
This is the 3rd summer we stayed at this beautiful house in S. Chatham and it was as nice as always. This spacious house is equipped with state of the art appliances and was immaculate with all the amenities of home. It is beautifully landscaped and tastefully decorated with beautiful hardwood floors throughout. The basement has a new ping pong table which we always enjoy. Chatham is a great town with lots of child-friendly restaurants with great food and beautiful beaches and playgrounds. There is a small railroad museum near the fire station which is always a hit with our grandsons. The owner is extremely accommodating and truly went out of her way to make our stay as memorable as possible. We look forward to returning next summer!

This home is beautiful and so comfortable! Warm and inviting, this home is beautifully decorated. The beds are super comfy and the central air was so nice after a hot day at the beach. Everything is provided, including sheets and towels. The neighborhood is adorable and quiet!

Five Star Perfection
From the moment you drive into the driveway, you know you have made a good choice. The first impression of Paul and Mary's place is one of comfort and beauty. In July, the front yard is filled with summer flowers--hydrangas, black-eye susans, coneflowers. A small deck off the front entrance overlooks this garden and is a lovely place for pre-dinner drinks. Inside, every attention to detail is evident. Kitchen is well-stocked right down to the salad spinner; appliances are top quality. Bedrooms are furnished with comfortable top-quality linens and toiletries are supplied. We loved grilling and eating dinner on the back deck.
We had a three week booking and friends and family came and went. Everyone enjoyed the quiet neighborhood, the 10 minute walk to the beach, the 10 minute walk to a gourmet restaurant. The charming town of Chatham is a 10 minute drive and offers shopping, restaurants, Friday night lobster dinner at the Methodist Church.
You really couldn't be in a better place. This house is the very best beach house we have ever rented. Highly Recommend!

Beautiful home; well cared for an fully equipped
We found the home fully equipped. Generous amounts of towels, basic cleaning and paper supplies, soap and shampoo. 2 nice bicycles; one needing a flat repaired. Gas grill worked. The bedrooms are beautifully decorated with lots of natural sunlight and comfortable beds.
We paid a premium for this home in order to have the handicapped accessible features. However, it was also a bonus that it was so well-equipped. We had lobster night for our extended family of 20+ one evening and had plenty of plates, utensils, pots and pans and seating for everyone.
We loved walking down to Forest Beach, which is less than 10 minutes on foot.
The owner Martha is a very positive, helpful person and I found her very available for questions.
I would definitely recommend this home!

Property 354414
I previously reviewed this property that my family stayed at. I mistakenly gave a 4 star rating instead of a 5 star rating and called to change it and was assured on the phone this would be taken care of. Since it has not been done I want to state that this home deserves a 5 star rating as it was everything we expected and so much more.
I am sorry for the mixup.

Excellent Stay in South Chatham
This house is ideal for our family of four adults, two young children, and a dog. The house is large and in excellent condition. The three bedrooms are all large, with very comfortable beds. The living room and kitchen are both large and well equipped. There is a large deck on the rear of the house that is easy to keep our dog on without worry about her slipping away. The deck is very nicely furnished with a nice grill that we always use frequently during our stay. And the gardens are beautiful, even though we go early in the season before many of the flowers are fully out. The house has all the beach equipment you would need, a good washer and dryer, a nice roomy pantry and roomy refrigerator.
The house is an easy walk to Forest Beach, which is a very important factor for us. It is easy to walk down to the water with the children without having to load up a car. The neighborhood is also nice for walking around, as the streets are pretty but not busy with cars. Great for using a balance bike with our grandson or walking the dog or a stroller.
We have stayed here for three years and find it ideal.

Paul and Mary's house is an excellent place to stay.
The house was exactly what we wanted. It is fully equipped with everything one could need and in a great location. We loved Oystrr Pond and Forrest Beach.. We especially liked sitting on the two decks. Would love to come back.

Great Stay in Chatham!
My family flew in from the midwest and west coast to explore Cape Cod. We were very happy with our stay at, "Mary & Paul's Place".
As we drove up the house had fresh flowers planted and a well maintained lawn. The house has a very welcoming living room with plenty of places to sit and hang out. The kitchen is beautiful with windows that overlook the backyard. I thought we would eat out more but the kitchen is well stocked with everything you need to cook. After a busy day out and about we would just come back, cook and relax. Beds are very comfortable, lots of towels, and house is clean and updated. The owner Martha is very easy to work with when I made our reservations. Lovely neighborhood to walk around and easy walk to beach to explore.
Downtown Chatham is a 5 minute drive with lots of restaurants and shops.
We took the ferry over to Nantucket for the day. Lots of shops and restaurants. It is interesting to just walk around and check out the historical houses.
I recommend a trip to the JFK Museum in Hyannis, then go and have lunch down by the water.
Cape Cod has so much to explore. We will return!

Amazing Family Christmas!
Paul and Mary's place was in the perfect location, in the most beautiful area of Chatham! My family and our pet dog, Cooper came for Christmas 2015, and were lucky enough to have unseasonably warm weather. We were also lucky enough to be just a short walk from the beach and a quick drive to main street in Chatham! Martha was hands down, the most attentive and helpful home owner I have ever worked with. She was able to answer all of my questions, and offer some lovely suggestions for our time in Chatham. Paul and Mary's place was the perfect, cozy and spacious home for 5 adults and our large lab mix, Cooper. We were able to light a warm fire in the living room, and still enjoy lunches on the deck. The house was filled with every last detail you could possibly imagine, from toiletries in every bathroom, bedding, towels, beach chairs and even a completely stocked kitchen, our vacation felt more like we were visiting in a friend's home. We were able to enjoy the calm waves of the ocean, local christmas lights, and my annual homemade cape cod Lobster bisque! We will absolutely be coming back to visit Paul and Mary's place, and look forward to the many more memories we will be making as a family in this stunning home.

Great vacation in a great house!
We just spent a week at this home at it was a WONDERFUL vacation for all. Martha answered all of my questions before our trip and checked in with us during the week as well. The house was spotless upon our arrival and it was fully stocked with everything we could possibly need! Every couple had their own bedroom AND bathroom and many enjoyed the outdoor shower as well. The kitchen made cooking and grilling there so easy and enjoyable. The neighborhood is very peaceful and it is a short walk to Forest Beach. All bed linens and beach towels are provided as well which makes packing a breeze. I hope to return to this home again in the future. Thanks Martha!
