About this cottage rental
Diana’s Dew Drop 2:
Located in the fishing village of Port Clyde, Maine, this charming old cape on the coast has been beautifully renovated into two homes; a delightful mix of old and new, where proximity and privacy are equally important. The two homes are often rented together, sharing a large yard, and storage garage; but have separate parking areas and entrances on opposite sides of the house and both sides tend to be quiet.
Upon arriving at the home you'll note that it is across the street from the tiny village post office, next door is a church, art galleries, and a playground. You are just a short walk to the Port Clyde General Store, Dip Net restaurant, Squid Ink Coffee, and the Wyeth by Water Boat Tours. You are now in the heart of our small fishing community!
Equipped with all the modern touches, you'll have that feeling of getting away from it all without having to give up any comforts of home. The spacious great room with views of the harbor greets you immediately upon entering the cottage. After you set down your luggage, the sights and sounds of the Maine coast and working fishing village are captivating. There is a comfortable sectional sofa, two cushioned armchairs, and a writing desk where you'll happily pen notes home about how wonderful your adventures have been. The room also encompasses a flat-screen television, card games, and books. There have been many family movie nights and exciting games played here. It truly feels like home.
On the other side of the great room, you will enjoy open-concept dining with a table for six and views of the gardens and playground.
Next, you move into the kitchen area, which was designed to maximize space. There are cabinets and hanging racks for pots and pans. In addition to the standard kitchen amenities, there is a microwave, a drip coffeemaker, a Keurig coffee maker, and a blender. In the corner of the room is a stackable washer and dryer. A half bath is located off the kitchen.
Moving upstairs there are two bedrooms, with captivating views from each. It will be hard to decide which is yours. Each has a lovely view and will lull you into a restful sleep as the tidal waters sing a soothing melody along with the hum of lobster boats. The first of the bedrooms has a queen-sized bed, wall-mounted lights, a dresser, smart TV with Basic cable, and a closet. Next door is a spacious bathroom with a toilet, sink with mirror, a tub, shower, and storage for bath linens. The second bedroom has two twin beds, a chaise lounge, two nightstands with lamps, and a dresser. This room has a vaulted ceiling and a clear ocean view of the working waterfront.
For your convenience, we have p
rovided initial supplies of the following: linens, bath towels, washcloths, hand towels, and beach towels. Your first tank of propane for the gas grill and fire pit, dish soap, hand soap, laundry detergent, toilet paper, paper towels, basic cable, wireless internet, and a home phone (long distance is not included) are all complimentary. While we make every effort to assure the accuracy of this listing, as well as the condition of equipment and quality of provided services, we make no implied guarantee of connectivity for wireless internet or services provided by a third party. That being said, we will do everything in our power to remedy any situation as quickly as possible, and we thank you for your understanding.
Outside, there is a large, shared lawn that expands down to the water's edge with Adirondack chairs and a fire pit; perfect for relaxing and reflecting on the excitement of the day while enjoying the sights and sounds of the ocean. Enjoy a glass of wine after a day of exploring the local beach, visiting
galleries, and picnicking at the Marshall Point Lighthouse. The lawn is ideal for having lots of fun playing some of the games provided, such as ladder ball, bocce ball, lawn darts, or bean bag toss, to name a few.
Though there is much space for alone time and privacy the property is a shared lot meaning there could be two separate parties sharing the lawn at the same time as it is a non-traditional duplex. Another thing to keep in mind; Co-op Road is sometimes busy with trucks running up and down before daylight as the lobstermen hurry into work. It is not uncommon to hear trucks on the road at 3 am. In addition, the playground across Co-op Road often attracts some of the local kids creating a bustling public space with some competitive basketball games. This communal area just right next to the house is perfect for younger kids. In addition, the property overlooks the working waterfront and can be a place of a lot of activity and entertainment in the summertime.
Within walking distance to the heart of Port Clyde, you'll enjoy great views all around, while visiting the Village Ice Cream for dessert, the General Store for groceries or supplies, The Dip Net for an incredible meal, Squid Ink Coffee for your favorite pastry or brew, a tour of the Maine Wyeth Gallery, or an informative Wyeth by Water lobster boat tour! We truly have something for everyone!
We also have three churches located in the Port Clyde area; Port Clyde Christian Church, Port Clyde Baptist Church, and Ridge Church.
Here are some things people visiting Maine need to know in advance:
Cell phones: Although coverage is getting better, there are some places where cell phones don't have good reception. Chances are you will have service, but just in case, make sure you leave the number of the house you are renting with those who may need to get in touch with you. Coverage with AT&T can be spotty in many areas of Maine.
Weather: If you have heard it once, you've heard it a hundred times: if you don't like the weather in New England, wait a minute. It can be hot in Rockland and cool in Port Clyde so make sure to pack a variety of clothes — from a bathing suit for hot days to a sweater for cool evenings. Check out the current local weather at www.weather.com.
Bugs: A lot of people ask us if we have mosquitoes...we sure do. But they aren't huge and they don't ruin a vacation. Bring some repellent, or pick some up at the local general stores and you will be fine; usually, you won't even notice them.
Dogs: We love dogs around here, but each town has its own rules about pets. Make sure to look for signs stating if dogs are allowed and always have them on a leash. If they leave behind anything, please pick it up, it's not a fun surprise when you are exploring the beautiful shoreline. You can also be fined for not picking up after your four-legged friend.
Unwanted animals: You probably have them too, but raccoons and skunks can make you regret last night's lobster dinner. No one wants to pick up old, smelly shells that have been cast out onto the lawn by these cute, but curious and disastrously messy, little guys. So please don't put off placing the trash in the secure trashcans provided.
Water: Dew Drop is on town water. The water has been tested and is safe to drink, but some guests prefer bringing bottled water. Particulates, discoloration, and iron taste are not uncommon.
Dew Drop 2 is a Saturday to Saturday rental year-round! This unit is a non-traditional duplex. The duplex has two units, number 2 and number 4. The numbers are for how many bedrooms are in each unit. This cottage best sleeps 2 adults and 2 children.

A beautiful property. Wonderfully decorated. Light and airy, well located. Kitchen a bit small but well-equipped. We had a fabulous time.

My husband and I and our two boys had another lovely stay in Port Clyde. The house had everything we needed and was so well located with beautiful sunset views.

So many nice touches made our stay even better.
We hope to come stay again!

Everything I expected and more. Could not find one way to improve the quality and expertise of the experience.

My husband, adult nephew and I very much enjoyed our stay at this cottage. It was very clean, well supplied, and quality furniture. The beds were comfortable. No problems with the WiFi connection.
We were able to watch the sunsets and the boats coming and going with their lobster traps. The locals are nice people.
When we come back to the area, we will not hesitate to stay here again.

Perfection. Port Clyde is starkly beautiful this time of year and provides the best kind of solitude to focus and write what is what I needed. Easily able to settle in and gaze at the water while reading and writing. I plan to return next year at this time. Thank you. Jane

Well-appointed house with tasteful decor and stunning views to the busy port and colorful sunsets. House had everything one could need and especially nice cookware and utensils. Windows on all sides makes the space bright and happy - a really lovely spot. Highly recommend.

We had a wonderful stay at the Dew Drop II in Port Clyde, ME. Place was adorable and very clean. We drove up/down the coast from our location. Was such a shame the Dip Net and general store burned down as they were so conveniently located. I’m sure they will build back better! Would definitely come back!

This is a great place and Veronica was an excellent host. The reviews online are accurate—this is a lovely house with very nice furnishings, comfortable, nice but small kitchen. Only drawback for us was that it’s a duplex, so you don’t have privacy when use the outdoor space. If that doesn’t matter to you, then this place is perfect. Our “neighbors” were very nice but you are taking a chance booking a duplex. The view of the harbor and sunsets is spectacular.

I’ve been staying here each June for a number of years, and in spite of some chilly, foggy days I simply loved my time there. Lupines, lobster boats, walks and bike rides to the lighthouse and general store, Dew Drop is perfectly located and a warm, wonderful home! Well-equipped, extremely well managed, I miss being there as soon as I pull out of the driveway.

Very nice home with a great western (sunset) view over part of the harbor at Port Clyde, Maine. Roomy, well appointed, very comfortable beds and furnishings, bright and colorful with lots of light, easy parking, and trouble/maintenance free. We'll be back again!

Beautiful side-by-side units. We had them both. When a difficult issue arose, they handled it beyond our satisfaction to make for a wonderful stay in Port Clyde! This was our second time staying in these units, and we hope to come back for more.

This rental is clean, comfortable and everything you need. Great view and loved sitting out by fire pit watching the fishing boats come and go. Great location and within easy walking distance to general store and other great foods and pastries/goodies. Port Clyde is a great harbor to hang out at and away from busy towns but yet close enough to travel to other towns for the day or take the boat over to the island. Would stay here and the area again.

I would say that this is the perfect Maine setting. Lovely view, well appointed home with thoughtful, lovely furnishings.
Very comfortable with a wonderful view of the harbor!
You share a backyard with the those that rent on the other side of the house which does make it less private. In our case, they had three dogs. We also had a dog so at times, it became a bit dramatic.
Overall our stay was very enjoyable and I highly recommend it.

We're very familiar with Port Clyde and it was nice to be back. That familiarity has been enhanced by this stay as the location provided a different view (that changed with time of day, weather, and sun placement!). Plenty of interior space in each room. Furnishings were just right, beds were both fine, bathrooms well equipped and made sense, kitchen was actually fun although a bit tight on counter space, and location/parking was easy. Multiple daily walks (with dog Finn) to the wharf. We're house hunting in Mid-Coast and this was a good location to operate from daily. Highly recommend Dew Drop Cottage II. we hope to be back soon.

It's a sweet community in the Port Clyde harbor area. The living room and deck have the most precious view of the working harbor and boathouse. Our weather was not the best, but we ventured to Graffam lobster in Rockport and had a fabulous lunch. The area near Marshall Point Lighthouse is also very beautiful. The house has been keep well and the host was very helpful.

We had a wonderful few day s, relaxing at this charming cottage. The cottage was filled with everything we needed for a comfortable stay-a spacious sitting area with comfy couch, kitchen with abundant supplies, very comfortable beds and toppers and a wonderful view of the picturesque harbor. The community is quiet and quaint and we really enjoyed walking to the general store for breakfast.

Have been vacationing in Maine for many years usually a little more south. Husband was taking a class in Rockland and we needed a place that would take dogs, and wanted to be on the water. We also had 2 other family members come up for a portion of the stay. While the kitchen is a little tight on counter space, it is well stocked with cooking needs (pots, pans, cookie sheets etc - but no pie plate…we brought). There is more than enough comfortable places to sit and enjoy the view, and the little (separate) boat house is an added bonus! A short walk to the general store or the boat pier and then be sure to stop for ice cream on the way back to the house. We were blessed with a week of BEAUTIFUL weather, and enjoyed the fire pit at night while watching the sunset and sipping a glass of wine. Would definitely come back again. I would give it 4.5 stars (overall) only because the screen door screen was loose and the stairs blend into each other and can be difficult for older folks (or those with bad eyesight) to navigate easily. Another reason (out of anyone’s control) is that cell coverage is very spotty.

For this family vacation, we rented 2 and 4 -two cottages attached to each other. Dew Drop 2 which is what this review represents is so charming, nicely decorated and you can't beat the location and views. It is very close to town, beautiful lighthouses, and right on the water with lots of chairs to sit and enjoy the view. The cottage had a large room downstairs for gathering and 2 very nice size bedrooms and bath upstairs. Really well done, all the amenities of home, and then some!

We had such a lovely vacation at this home which was beautifully and conveniently located in Port Clyde. It was
So fun to be in walkable distance to town and the ferry to Monhegan and still have such beauty of the water out the back door. The house was very clean, beautifully decorated and has all that we needed. Well appointed with high quality amenities.

I love Port Clyde and especially this cottage. The sunsets here are amazing. I've stayed here before and will continue to do so. Veronika is amazing to work with and makes sure everything is perfect and ready for your arrival.

We enjoyed another wonderful week in Port Clyde. Dew Drop Cottage 2 is a great location and nice property. Kitchen is a bit small but house is very comfortable and great views. Easy checkin and check out. Unexpected bonus: perfect spot for watching local Fourth of July fireworks.

We had a nice, long stay.in unit 2, which is Diana's Dew Drop II from Nov. until Jun. Veronika was fantastic to work with, very professional and also friendly, she was always quick to respond and always knew what was going on. The house was bright and cheery with every accoutrement you can imagine. It was clean and warm and we especially loved the down comforters and the large bathtub. We prefer a king bed, so Veronika had the 2 twins strapped together for us and it worked out great! We were allowed to bring our pets, which was a big deal and meant a lot to us, as they are like children to us. We were in the process of moving from our RV for the colder months with the hope of having our house built by now, but that has not happened. It was such a nice respite for us even so. I must say that Port Clyde is a windy place, but once spring came, it was unbelievably beautiful! The smell of lilacs linger in the air everywhere you turn, children playing in the playground, the church bells on Sundays and the sound of the fishermans' boats is all idyllic. Port Clyde is a special, friendly place and we met many neighbors who were kind and talkative. Our dogs were a big hit and cars would even stop to talk to us and them. Even though we weren't on vacation per se, it felt like it! There is so much to see and I would recommend walking whenever you can. The fisherman's Co-op has excellent hours and all the freshest seafood you can imagine. Many stores unfortunately were closed for the winter, but we always found what we needed between Tenants Harbor and Rockland. If you experience any issues with the property, Veronika is very fast with a response and equally quick to take care of it as well as all the maintenance that goes with all the homes she tends to. Her helpers never bother you during your stay, but they are cordial and kind. We highly recommend Diana's Dew Drop II, whether one week or a long stay like ours, it's a wonderful old house that has been beautifully restored with lots of attention to detail. I will never forget the kindness and care that we received! Thank you Veronika and crew.

This was our second stay at this property - we enjoyed it the second time as much as the first. The house is very well maintained and clean and has all the amenities you would need for a short stay. The back yard was perfect for enjoying drinks at sunset, and for running around with our dog. The property is well located in Port Clyde - the dock is around the corner to buy fresh lobsters and the general store and restaurants are a few minutes’ walk away.

Furnished with thoughtful touches, absolutely no clutter, no knick-knacks. Design is open and airy with great views.
Bear in mind when booking that you will share yard with other guests which can be a problem if they are loud or messy.
We fell into already made beds upon check-in and loved the Turkish towels. A classy place. ❤️

I was very impressed with both the location of this property and the open, light-filled, and beautifully appointed rooms. We were able to rent kayaks and put in right from the yard. I thought it would be weird to have the other half of the house filled with other renters, but we were not bothered at all by this. I loved this property and will rent again.

We just got back from our stay in Dew Drop Cottage 2 in Port Clyde. The house was clean, well equipped, and very comfortable. We had a great time, and we were able to watch the fireworks over the water from the windows and the yard outside! Would definitely consider a return visit!
