About this cabin rental
Clear Creek Cabin is located in the scenic Driftless Area of Northeast Iowa.
As you walk out the doors of the secluded cabin you will find a spring-fed, one acre pond. Complete with bluegill, bass and catfish. There is also 70 feet of white sand beach. Hike 100 yards and you will find 3.2 miles of the Clear Creek trout stream. If you enjoy hiking or hunting, the cabin is adjacent to 800 acres of public hunting land.
For cyclists, The Mississippi River Trail is nearby. More fishing is also located in the Upper Iowa and Mississippi Rivers. And there are many area golf courses and snowmobile trails. Scenic beauty abounds!
And that is just the outdoors.
Clear Creek Cabin boasts 2,700 sq ft of cozy hardwood excellence. The rustic good looks of the original cabin that was built in 1873 (with another log frame addition in 1885 and a modern addition in 2000) is combined with all the modern amenities you would want.
Start your relaxing stay with a full, restful night of sleep in one of the 5 bedrooms. Choose from a king pillow top, queen, full or one of four twin XL beds or twin bunk bed. There is a plush-top futon in the balcony/den and another in an upstairs bedroom. There is even a crib for your infant.
A modern heat and air conditioning system will keep you at the right temperature as you wake up. Next you may find a hot shower or a soak in the tub is in order. Choose from one of the three full baths; one with a shower, one with a shower/tub and another with a shower/tub. Don't forget to drop your bath towel in the towel warmer so it is ready when you get out!
The smell of a hot cup of coffee or tea (or maybe even a "lumberjack" breakfast) are easily in the realm of possibilities for the full kitchen. It has all of the large and small appliances you will need during your stay. There is a full set or dishes and utensils and even a charcoal grill on the flagstone patio outside the back door.
Enjoy your meals on the porch or at the picnic table overlooking the pond or in the large dining room. With seating for 10 at the reclaimed lumber (that my Great-Grandfather milled many years ago) dining room table, there is sure to be ample space for all.
Relax in the living room with reclining seating for 10 guests. This room has a 55 inch SMART TV, DVD and VHS players, and a console with connection to all your favorites on Netflix or YouTube. You may also enjoy complimentary high speed, fiber optic Wi-Fi for your mobile devices and Wi-Fi enabled phone calls. Or you could follow the kids upstairs to play with the various toys including the 3 foot tall doll house.
This property has something for everyone. Now, go explore!

Scenic, peaceful, private property with great spring fed pond. Great place for family or friends to gather and get away. Hope to go again!

We had great time at what we refer to as the pond cabin. It's a beautiful setting and kids and adults can find plenty to do. We fished, kayaked, had campfires, cooked and ate outside. The weather was in the 70's in August, but it didn't stop the kids from getting in the water. They spent hours building and digging in the sand. They all want to go back.

Let me start with the undeniably AMAZING things about this property; The scenery alone was gorgeous, including your very own secluded pond and beach area to enjoy at your leisure. The house, having been built in the 1800s, was incredibly unique, including 2 separate 2nd story areas and enough space for our large family to stay comfortably. The hiking trails were fun, fishing was great, wildlife was unbelievable and the hanging hammock chairs near the beach are now currently in my Amazon cart!
As far as the actual stay, there was definitely a lot of extra planning and pre-packing of items usually included in a rental. No outdoor chairs, beach towels, laundry detergent and a desperately needed fresh dish sponge are provided. The poor lighting in the entire kitchen badly needs to be upgraded. There’s beautiful string lights on the front porch but we were unfortunately told there was no extension cord to actually plug them in….All of the kayaks/canoes disappointingly had a daily rental fee and each bundle of firewood needed to be separately purchased. Between the both relentless biting flies and mosquitos, be sure to bring bug repellent that can be sprayed around the entire area - definitely something I wish we would have brought!
This property was beautiful and a wonderful place to simply be together as a family and relax whether that was sitting on the front porch rocking chairs with a hot cup of coffee or kayaking around the pond searching for turtles and other great

This was our third stay at Clear Creek Cabin, and everything was great! This place provides lots of privacy, and is very scenic. We love the spring-fed pond, and the sandy beach is perfect for little kids of all ages. The pond is also great for paddle boarding and for teaching kids how to fish! Our family uses the large dining room and living room throughout the day, and we also grill or cook all our meals while we are there. A well-stocked kitchen provides all the dishes, glasses and cooking utensils that you would need. Ryan, our host, is always very responsive, and knowledgeable.
Everyone enjoyed our time at Clear Creek, and we would not hesitate to come back again for another stay!

This cabin is exactly as described! Our whole family loved it-perfect for a family reunion. We had space to spread out in the house and on the pond. The dining table was large enough for all 10 of us to enjoy meals together and play some games! First time for that on a vacation. Ryan was very available to help when we had a possible storm issue. Appreciate the communication! Kitchen is very well stocked. The kayaks were great-we now have some people wanting to purchase! The only suggestion we had was to change out the futons to beds when you’re able to. We plan on returning to this little piece of paradise in Iowa!

We had 9 adults and 7 children age 7-17. The bedroom situation did not really fit our needs but made it work with sleeping on couches and air mattresses. I feel the advertising of sleeping 18 was a real stretch. We greatly enjoyed the pond for fishing-we had never seen such big fish! The area is beautiful and remote and we loved the wildlife and birds. The kitchen was well stocked. Ryan answered all questions right away and was easy to communicate with. The narrow winding stairs to two of the bedrooms was neat and historical but difficult to navigate for the 4 adults that slept in that area, especially with no bathroom upstairs. The front porch was great and we spent a lot of time there. I would recommend this property for 10 people and be sure to bring bug spray!

This property is one of a kind! The pond is perfect for kids to play and fish. Wonderful view while drinking coffee on the porch in the mornings was a great way to start the day. A lot of wildlife to see and trout fishing close by kept everyone busy! The house is stocked with anything you might need for cooking. The owners were very easy to communicate with. If you’re looking for a very quiet, secluded vacation this is the place!

We Loved our family get together at Clear Creek Cabin. The grounds were beautiful all nestled in the hills. Oppertunities to hike and explore. Evenings by a campfire and sharing family time and playing outdoor games. Inside the home was large and beautiful with the original cabin connected to a newer build. We spent many hours at the large table eating meals and playing board games. Enough bedrooms and space along with 3 bathrooms to make us all comfortable. The kitchen was nicely stocked with all the supplies we needed. We had a mild winter to enjoy this location and would stay here again. The owners were wonderful with their comunication and to work with.

It was very nice and a great getaway that was secluded and perfect for our family.

We brought our extended family here as a gift to my in-laws, and it did not disappoint. There was more than enough room for 14 people, and having three nice bathrooms was great. This place is remote enough to truly get away from it all but close enough to towns to do things (like shop or tube the river).

The log cabin and number of beds are attractive. The serene nature of the pond with a sugar sand beach is the greatest attraction. Swimming, paddle boat, fishing are all part of the great experience.

From booking through the end of the trip, we had great communication with our host. The kids enjoyed the water, whether swimming, fishing, or kayaking. The adults relaxed and took advantage of the nearby trails.

This was the perfect getaway for our extended family to go to and focus on each other. The pond was stocked with fish for everyone to catch. There were beautiful trails to walk on and soak in the beauty and quiet of the surroundings. We played the board games together and just enjoyed each other instead of social media or our regular distracted days back at home. There was plenty of room for our 18 guests to stay. We cooked every meal and had campfires every night. I only wish we would have stayed longer!

We had 4 families all under 1 roof for 3 nights and it was perfect! There was plenty of space inside and outside for everyone to get along. The pond was amazing and very fun for everyone to catch fish and swim. The washer and dryer was a great addition to keep up with towels and swim wear. Without a doubt the pond was the favorite. We brought kids kayaks and a few tubes and we were set for the long weekend. No one had anything bad to say about our stay and we’ve already discussed coming back!!

This was our second trip to the clear creek cabin, and we had another great vacation! The property was still lovely - and an upgrade from last year was new mattresses that were super comfortable!! The house has everything you need and more, and the property is just so beautiful, offering so much to keep everyone occupied. Thank you, Ryan!

The kids loved playing on the beach, and kids and adults alike enjoyed spending time wading, swimming, and kayaking in the pond just feet from the back porch. The house is well-maintained and clean; perfect for our extended family getaway.

We had such a great time at the cabin. The pond with the kayaks and paddle boat kept our kids busy with fun for hours. We loved fishing in the pond and having fires at night. The pictures of the cabin don't give you the full picture. The cabin is so beautiful and the air conditioning is great. Ryan was great to work with in every way. He gave us so much information about the cabin and the area. Thank you so much for the great experience with our family. We would love to come back sometime.

What a unique home and location. very peaceful, beautiful location. Plenty of room for 9 adults. Dinning room table fit us all. Only thing to complain about would be the gravel roads you need to travel on to reach your destination. Owner is great .

We enjoyed our time at Clear Creek Cabin. Seeing the architectural changes with each addition to the cabin over the years was really interesting. It is a beautiful area and I'm guessing it's amazing in the fall with the leaves changing colors.
We were able to enjoy the paddle boat, get out on hikes, and just enjoy the weather while sitting in the rocking chairs (Adirondack) on the porch.
Thankfully they have Internet in the cabin because there was almost no signal for phones in the valley (on Verizon or T-Mobile). We didn't use the internet much because we were there to unwind...but it's there so if you need to contact someone in case of emergency you should be good.
I would definitely recommend staying here.

We thoroughly enjoyed our relaxing stay at the Clear Creek Cabin! It was extremely quiet and very private. The views, nature, and outdoor activities (mainly fishing and hiking) were exactly what we were hoping for. The cabin felt like home and had wonderful details and decor that we enjoyed exploring. Ryan’s communication and offer of some farm fresh food items were the icing on the cake. We hope to return!

You need to not mind a bit of gravel road driving when staying at this cabin, which wasn't a problem for my family! We celebrated my parents 30th wedding anniversary and had lots of laughs! Kitchen was well stocked with utensils, plates, cookware, and tupperware. The dinning room table fit all of us without any crowding. Three bathrooms were very convenient. Living room was comfortable and spacious. There were quite a few games there, some for all ages it seemed. We were all very happy with the stay and want to go back, hopefully when it is warmer!
The stairs that lead to the two bedrooms with full beds and the loft with a futon are extremely narrow. It was not an issue for us and won't affect our rating, but could matter more to people who are older or wider set. My parents did say that the master bedroom bed was not the most comfortable, it was memory foam. They felt like they were sinking into it and struggled to move. This was their personal preference and experience, if you don't mind memory foam or don't move much in your sleep then it shouldn't be an issue. The hot water in the kitchen had to be finessed in order to get it to work, but the owner let us know how to do it, apologized for the inconvenience, and said they are planning on fixing the problem. It just meant that in order to wash the dishes we needed to wait awhile for the hot water to work, so nothing major.

Enjoyed the history and uniqueness of the large cabin. The outdoor area is perfect for walks around the pond, having an evening fire, and relaxing on one of the porches with a hot cup of coffee. Well furnished and ample room to spread out!

This property surpassed our expectations. Over the years our group has come up to the area to fish and we have stayed at numerous properties in the area. This property was perfect. Plenty of space, clean and well equipped. Communication with the owner before check in was easy and quick
After staying here I plan on bringing my wife and kids next year to enjoy the property. It'll be a perfect place for the kids to play when not fishing. Also nice and secluded so no traffic at all other than neighbors.
Definitely recommend.
