About this cabin rental

Log Cabin - This cabin sets on a little more than 3 acres of land overlooking a pond in the front and a field in the back. Located not far from the city but with the feel of the country. There is a covered front porch with two tables. In the back of the cabin is a small covered porch with gas grill. This cabin is fully furnished. It has a country kitchen that features an old style gas ceramic stove. There is a pantry that is stocked with spices and a washer and dryer room. There is a dining room that has a table that sits 6 - 8 people. In the living room is a stone fire place and mantle. There is a beautiful wooden architectural desk (this was our Uncle Marvin's design desk), a table with 4 chairs, bonded leather sofa with recliners, love seat with recliner and rocking recliner. TV, blue ray player, CD player, internet, cable. Upstairs there are 3 bedrooms. The master bed room has a queen bed, night stand, dresser with mirror. Also in the master bedroom is a full sized bathroom with shower and walk in closet. The second bedroom has a queen bed with closet, dresser, lounge chair and small table and TV with Blueray/DVD . The third bedroom has a bunk bed. It also has an additional single bed. The loft has a rocking chair and lounge chair with ottoman for reading. Displayed on the wall is a beautiful quilt that was made by our great grandmother. The front porch features several tables and chairs for outdoor enjoyment. Outside there is a simple fire pit for roasting marshmallows by the pond. You are welcome to go fishing as long you clip the barb from your hook and throw the fish back. (Catch and Release)

We stayed at the cabin while our boys were playing at the USA Baseball facility. It was a short drive to the fields. The cabin is well equipped with everything we needed. If in Cary again, we will definitely stay here!

It was my son and his best friend and my girl best girlfriend. It was a weekend to get away and play games. Have a little fire is and eat some Brunswick stew. The house was perfect reminded us of a place we used to stay when the kids were little was clean everything was there that we needed to make food and enjoy each other’s company and stay here again

We traveled to Cary / Apex to watch the Division 2 college world series, knowing we would have lots of time between games. Hotels just don’t cut it! The house was fantastic. Kids and spouse spent hours fishing in the pond. Reading spaces on the porch or swing. Comfy beds . Just about anything you would need to prepare a meal. We didn’t hit up restaurants at all. Enjoyed every second of this charming place. Loved the western theme, too. Perfect!

The whole stay and experience was better than expected. Check in, communication with the owners, close location to groceries, shopping and restaurants was all beyond easy and convenient. The house had everything we needed so the extra paper products, toiletries, hand soap and detergent we bought were not needed. It’s a warm and welcoming place and we would stay here again without hesitation. The owners went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and they decorated the house for Christmas including a live Christmas tree. It made our holiday week so special.

My family and I had an awesome time and experience while staying there. The cottage/ cabin is very beautiful. It is decorated very nicely. The home has a very warm relaxing feel too it. Great for pets!! I have 2 Scottish Terriers who enjoyed the set up. Especially the pen area for them to run around in. I wish VRBO would give half stars. This place is truly 4.5 stars.*** . There were a few minor issues. But just regular maintenance. The owner was amazing. They communicated very well and quickly with any issues that came up. We will definitely stay there again and highly recommend it to everyone. Thank you for opening up your home to my family. You are amazing and truly appreciated!! 🙂

The approach to this gorgeous rental feels like stepping through the looking glass. No idea how this peaceful neighborhood has managed to survive the sprawl but it was great to get to enjoy the spacious yard, pond and privacy, so near to our family in Apex. House was well decorated, comfortable and clean, and they even have a nice enclosed front porch with connected fenced-in dog area off to the side. We had a great time and will look to return for future visits.

This was our 2nd time staying at the Wooden Shoe this year and we enjoyed it even more this time. We were in the area for another hockey game and it just a short drive to PNC arena. We also attended a field hockey game at Duke University and it was a short drive to their field as well. Thanks again for allowing us to stay and we can’t wait to come back!

This place is fantastic. It has a rustic appearance and feels luxurious. The location is nice and somewhat private - the place is tucked away in a little neighborhood street. The place is clean and quiet. There are lots of activities to do around the property. We loved taking walks, sitting by the pond, and watching the wildlife. The owners of the property are super nice and attentive. Communication and responsiveness were great! We loved this place. Next time we are in the Raleigh Durham area we will stay here again.

We came down for a family wedding and were only looking for something more affordable than three rooms at a hotel but completely lucked out with this booking! This house is to log cabins what glamping is to camping — beautiful and woodsy but with AC and a dishwasher😇 looks remote but we easily had groceries and takeout delivered. The kids loved playing cornhole and checking out the paddle boat and canoe. There was a dedicated toy and game closet with baby gates and some awesome open fish tanks on both porches the kiddos were absolutely mesmerized by. The tented structure with Edison bulb strands and fire pit were super cool, though we didn’t get a chance to make much use of them. The tree in the side yard attracted all kinds of butterflies and hummingbirds… even in bonkers heat, it was idyllic. We met the owner on our first evening and couldn’t have been kinder or more welcoming. We loved our stay and hope our travels will take us this way again!

This cabin is perfect to unwind and reconnect with nature and the people you love! It is family friendly and pet friendly too! It gave us a chance to relax, fish, play games, have a movie night and cook together with a family meal every night. The cabin sits back off road just enough that you have privacy but also was close enough to get out and walk, meet neighbors and use highways to explore the areas. I would definitely recommend to those who want to detox from the world for awhile and take a break. The owners of this property were very helpful and personal, eager to help in anyway. we look forward to another stay because it is just what the doctor ordered and it was wonderful! Our family and dog enjoyed staying at this cabin. It was clean and comfortable and we had plenty of room. It is just minutes from downtown Apex. It was also just a short distance to PNC arena, which was nice since we were in the area for a hockey game. We hope to stay here again when we are in the area.

Don’t open the windows! The screens have all been removed so if you do you will be invaded by tons from the stagnant pond breeding ground on the property. Not to mention the uncut grass and the large weeds surrounding the house. Aside from that you can hear everything going on in the house from any room. Not at all private. We left early.

7 of us and one big dog had a great time. We fished, visited historic Apex and Durham. The house was well stocked with dishes etc and enough pantry staples like spices for us. This is a charming, comfortable cabin, built by the owner, with lots of fun touches. It sits on a great piece of land, with geese,, frogs, lots of birds, and more as constant companions. The house and neighborhood is quiet and semi-rural, but just a few minutes from several good restaurants, Jordan Lake, and Chapel Hill. We also can’t say enough about how welcoming and helpful the owners are. Couldn’t have been kinder or more responsive.
